We are very excited to announce the alpha/beta of Paranoid Android Topaz, based on Android 13.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with beautiful wallpapers from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhance the overall user experience. You can find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers and many more in the Abstruct app from the PlayStore.
Our builds are based on the Code Linaro Organization Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features, performance, and stability. We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.
Notice
We kindly ask all of you that are in a position to donate anything, to help and support us so we can provide better and faster build releases, as well as increase the download speed of our servers, all looking for your enjoyment.

Nice and also official. Can't wait to get paranoid again
Peru !!!
niceeeeeeeeeeeee.......
Where do we get boot.img and vendor_boot.img?
From paranoid android file? Or from miui stock original firmware?
Can I use minimal adb&fastboot to install fastboot img file?
Can I use 13.0.2 firmware from xiaomi.eu to flash it, or I'll get hard brick?
Works beautifully, no lags or bugs. Best ROM for spes right now IMO.
Looking forward to seeing this ROM being one of the best out there. Although the rom for this phone hasn't been optimized like I imagined but hoping that it'll be further improved in the future. For now, it's pretty good but not perfect like the way I wanted it to be. Anyways, keep up on the good work!

I'm using crdroid a 13
And it's very stable and fast for me till now. Is it worthy to give it a try with paranoid android. Or should I wait for the final release specially its just a beta!?

Is it better than crdroid?!. Thinking to try this rom and afraid of stability issues , specially its a beta release!
Or should i wait for the official release?!

Like to try it also. The thing with PA is, beta is pretty stable comparable to most roms stable releases. I guess until kernel sources are released (if ever) crdroid in its general performance shows the limits
So beautiful, almost perfect rom.
Please built ROM without gapps.
Please update shortcut for on/off NFC, like shortcut on/off bluetooth.
And show remaining ram used.
I like this rom
This rom is nice, almost perfect. Almost evrything works according to my usage. Frustratrated of
using mi rom and their security app and coming from a oneplus experience, I had to move to other rom.
As of proprietory camera driver as I understand, I didn't find any camera app to work properly and
I prtend I don't have a camera with this crappy mobile phone.
Now coming to this rom, I found some issues which I am listing below.
Video calling works, tap2wake works and is stable(unlike Xtended, haven't tried crDroid yet)
No secure lockscreen i.e. notification menu on lockscreen is visible
No way to change navigation buttons functionality (i.e. long press & double tap)
No custom navigation panel style.
No display when incoming call (perhaps a bug) at times.
No AOD and no lockscreen clock customization.
Can't install twrp succesfully (The A/B methods are really messy and also fastboot and fastbootd) and I haven't risked anything using magisk.
Don't know if fast charging works(no fast charge visual confirmation).
Only one screen off gesture (double tap), have to long press power button to invoke torch.
But I do appriciate the good work of the developer. I'm using this rom as a daily driver. I haven't checked crDroid or PixelExperience.
Perhaps someone can shed some light on that.
Thank you all. Have a nice day.
I know PA is one of the most popular custom ROM, but I can't seem to find a newer feature list. How does it compare to other ROMs?
I use Pixel Experience Plus as daily driver and recently made a switch, here's my first impression/comparison
Comes with GCam Go instead of the stock camera
4 numbers pin (PE+ makes you press the enter button)
No double back tap
Lock screen by double tapping home instead of quick settings
At a Glace can be turned off
Google search bar can be turned off
Icon and Font customization
Tons of feature flags on Home settings
Recent menu shows Screenshot + Lens option instead of Screenshot + Select
Comes with more GApps then PE+ (YouTube, Drive, Maps, Gmail, etc.)
No option to hide battery icon when percentage is shown. Only option is to show icon, icon + percentage, icon + percentage when charging, or hide everything
The one-handed mode gesture can be used for notification instead
I'd say they both have similar overall feel, with some customization changed in favor of other. PA feels a bit smoother, not sure if that's just my feeling. I wouldn't compare it with crDroid. crDroid adds tons of features and customization while sacrificing the overall looks.
This is my first impression, so I have yet to test the battery and performance. Please let me know if there was any mistake. I'll make an update after using this for a while
Been used PA for 2 days, everything is good no issues so far, i think it smoother than crDroid, need more features such as:
NFC toggle not present
Network/data speed meter in status bar
60 fps contents in Instagram is stuttered, I don't know in other social media platform
While crDroid has a lot of customization but PA is just simple & stable straight to the point, Thanks for your nice work.
The experience has been smooth so far, face unlock and fingerprint feels faster compared to other ROMs. Only bug I've found is that when you create a WebApp shortcut from Chrome and try to uninstall it, Paranoid Launcher immediately crashes

Welcome to SentinelROM for Nexus 4. Compiled with Linaro toolchain from modded CM11 source. Android 4.4
This is one of the most popular ROMs for Nexus 10 and Nexus 7, and after a month of hard work and optimisation, I am happy to release it for Nexus 4.
This ROM is compiled from CyanogenMod 11 with all the features you get in a CM11 ROM, plus the following features.
Zip Aligned
LMT Pie Controls.
Compiled from latest CyanogenMod 10.2 source by me, not a 'cooked ROM'.
OTA Updates supported
Improved Web Browsing performance
Improved 3D gaming performance
Amazing battery life
Additional theming and UI customisation
FAST support via this page and our Facebook Page
________________________
This ROM has been built to enhance the CyanogenMod 11 experience, with faster gaming and web browsing performance (no choppyness in Chrome too!).
Countless hours have been spent making tweaks to settings to squeeze the most performance I can find out of this ROM while still providing excellent battery life and without the dangers of overclocking and kernel level tweaking.
I compile this ROM and Kernel from the latest CyanogenMod source code, add my various tweaks and adjustments, then test for stability, so you get all the benefits of CyanogenMod 11, plus my tweaks and extras, all without the instability and inconvenience of flashing CyanogenMod nightlies (which are not designed specifically for the Nexus 4 like my ROM is.
The kernel source is available from the CyanogenMod's GitHub.
Please note that I do not own a Nexus 4. this ROM is tested on my Nexus 10, compiled again from source to suit the Nexus 4 and tested by my lovely tester team, then released for you to enjoy. Therefore I ask that you please report any issues you come across in this thread so I can do my best to sort them out ASAP.

None that I am aware of. Please report any bugs in this thread or on the Facebook page.
Note: On CM11 ROMs, to access the internal SD card on your device via USB on your PC, please go to "Settings" - "About Tablet" and tap on "Build Number" repeatedly to unlock "Developer Options". Now go to "Developer Options" and enable "Android Debugging".
________________________
If installing for the first time:
To install this ROM you will need to have an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery such as TWRP or ClockWorkMod installed (personally I recommend TWRP, I have had issues with restoring backups using CWM).
Copy the downloaded SentinelROM zip to your Internal Storage.
Boot into your custom recovery
Back up your stock ROM
Factory Reset and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Wipe system partition
Install the ROM
Install GAPPS package
Reboot - First boot may take up to 5 minutes
Important: After installation you will be asked if you want to turn on CyanogenMod Statistics, please leave it off as this is an unofficial/modified build.
Note: Use of titanium backup to restore apps and data from another ROM is not recommended, and is the source of 90% of user issues, especially when it comes to battery life. Do so at your own risk.
You may flash other kernels as you wish via recovery. Remember to also flash the correct libraries for any 3rd party kernels. Instructions will be given by the Kernel author. NOTE: Updating the ROM via OTA will also overwrite any custom Kernels you have installed.

A huge thanks to my Nexus 4 testing crew! You guys make this ROM possible! In particular Max, Vangelis13 and yyz71
Thanks very much to all those who have answered my questions through the process of creating my own ROM, you know who you are.
CyanogenMod for their outstanding work. Full credit to them for the bulk of this ROM.
OTA-UpdateCenter.pro for their OTA database support and OTA Updater app source.

I don't think transparancy will come to cm10 which this ROM is based off of.
ROM feels really smooth and I will have to report back on battery, but there is one thing I see that is missing. The Reboot menu does not show the other options like Recovery, Download, etc. Not sure if I'm the only one, but that would be really helpful to have. I do have Reboot menu selected in the Power Menu section of the Settings.

Changelogs
As we're getting back into the thread game, keeping up with threads and updating them as per changelogs can be too hectic given our schedule. However, very detailed changelogs always go up on our Google+ page, follow us for constant updates!
Instructions & requirements
We highly recommend you to follow these instructions very carefully. Users usually tend to skip a few steps and eventually fall in trouble. Are you with me? Good. Let's get this train going.
Just a few things to keep in mind first -
If you're coming from another ROM / Stock, your system data (not internal storage) will have to be wiped. This includes apps, accounts, messages, call logs etc.
There's been some users complaining about different GAPPS variants messing up installs and causing a ton of issues. Upon investigating it seems OpenGapps Mini/Nano and Banks GAPPS work best.
Understand that Paranoid Android is a custom ROM and it might lead to addiction as it's relatively good. We shouldn't be accused of anything just incase your cat starts drinking wine. Things get a little woozy in the Paranoid World.
Some brain might be involved if things go wrong. Not a lot though, as much to solve what's 1+1.
Okay let's get to the main bit -
Once you have all the required files - boot into recovery and wipe the bananas out of your device. Get into the wipe menu and wipe data, system, cache and dalvik cache (basically everything except Internal Storage).
Once wiped, get into the "Install from zip" menu and select the ROM zip. (pa_bacon_6.x...). Once added to the install queue, TWRP will ask you if you want to add more zips into the queue - Click on "add more zips" and select the GAPPS package.
Swipe the bar on the bottom to flash/install zips. Once both zips are done installing - Reboot into system and set-up your device, do not do anything else.
Once you're done setting up your device - well that's when you're done. One thing though - Make sure you DO NOT INSTALL any other zip in the same queue as the ROM & GAPPS. Meaning, do not flash anything like a kernel or a root package while installing the ROM. We recommend you do that AFTER you're done setting up your device.

As always, we listen to what you have to say. Help us make PA better by submitting good bug reports possibly with a log attached. Learn how to take logs here. Submit bug reports and we'll try to iron out issues as soon as possible - it really helps a lot.

"Based on: God"
Can we get one based off of Satan too or are there too many thermal issues?
But seriously, I appreciate you're work here!
Great man. Hope to see ota updates are supported in your next build

It seems not support f2fs
Web browser is crashing after a complete clean install - wipe data, cache and system. With last OpenGapps nano.
And no swipe with the google keyboard.
Back to CM.
All work good except for the camera, it lags, before and after flash sultan HAL, it need a lot of time for focus too.
Flashed the ROM and there was no sound in calls
Both the caller and receiver had no sound
Doesn't boot on my white E1003, stuck on one+ logo. I have to flash a custom kernel.
Double tap to sleep doesn't work.

Definitely the best ROM or there. It's just works perfectly. The only bad thing is the camera. It's lagging and not performing well. And if I flash Sultan HAL is even worse. I don't use the camera too much so I can live with it. I wonder how did Sultan made the camera perform that well on his ROM, but.when flashing the HAL on other Roms it isn't nearly the same. It would be awesome to have AOSPA with sultans Roms camera performance.
Anyways, as I said, by far the best rom I tried for Onyx.
Glad to have PA back. Congrats!!!!
Low ear piece volume... Couldn't hear in crowded place... Cm theme doesn't have boot animation option. Gonna try new build...

@xboxfanj,
Is the CMTE ready for use on AOSPA? I've been using Swift Dark theme with multiple ROMs previously and it always worked flawlessly. With AOSPA (the first onyx release) multiple UI elements remained unthemed. This happened with other themes as well.
thanks for the rom @xboxfanj !
just a minor (actually formal) thing: ur install instructions appear to be quite noob proof. therefore i think "install pa_bacon_..." might cause confusion for such

We’re really excited to announce that we are releasing our Nougat flavour of Paranoid Android. We have a lot in store - with a mix of both features & improvements.
First & foremost, we have moved our code base to be fully CAF based. This brings many improvements to your device. The key improvement here is that Qualcomm hardware is better tuned on the CAF base and with our additional optimisations we can provide a smooth and fluid user experience that will let you enjoy using your device without any lags.
On first launch you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson who’s teamed up with us again and created several beautiful pieces of artwork. For those of you who don’t know, Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work stands itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We have also added several new features and made improvements to the UI of the system that we believe would enhance the overall experience.
Pie
We’ve been working hard on redesigning this key feature of our portfolio and we’re really happy with how it has turned out. The whole design has been reworked and it fits in well with the overall feel of Google’s Material Design. This gives you the opportunity to use more gesture based control for navigating, rather than using the standard Navigation Bar at the bottom of your screen. Expect improvements and additions in the future.
Color Engine
We’re proud to announce our newest feature - Color Engine. Color Engine allows you to seamlessly change the colors of your device to be in Light, Dark (Pixel) and Black modes with a variety of accent colors to choose from. This makes changing the theme of your device really quick without having to install any extra packages on your device.
Major features:
- Reworked Pie
- Color engine
- Immersive mode
- Buttons customization (including navigation bar)
- On the spot controls (OTS)
Minor features:
- SafetyNet Compatibility
- Battery/Notification LED control
- Recent tasks locking

After full wipe I flashed this rom, once booted color engine is disabled because "substratrum is being used" (or something similar), but I don't have substratum installed now..
Hello
Did anyone tried with the April bootloader? It works with the old flash method?
I'm asking because i don't have wifi around.

I flashed it with the April bootloader with no issues in terms of loading it. The one problem I had was that Google Camera would crash on loading, but that may have been a gapps issue since it's the first time I actually used opengapps for the pixel.
Has anyone used arters TWRP to flash? Any issues?

Went by what the instructions are linking in the OP. Takes you to the OP3T forum using arters TWRP. The file name is for the OP3T so I was a little hesitant to use it. It is a little confusing, no?
For me the adb sideload stops at 35% completion and the ROM doesn't install.
April bootloader with TWRP RC2 installed. Same error with booted TWRP RC1

Taking this shortcut by pointing to installation instructions of an unrelated device is a sure path to bricks! Arters build of TWRP is to enable F2FS filesystem for OnePlus 3/3T devices and *not* for Pixel devices.
I am on latest stock (may security patch), with conflicting reports using twrp rc2, I am staying away from custom ROMs till I see a clear set of instructions or till I read enough to figure that out.

That is kinda of what i was worried about.
I used RC2 flashed PA and ARM64 mini OPEN GAPPS and ROM runs great so far.
Wiped everything except internal storage.
Flashed PA.
Flashed Gapps (first time was a bad download, redownloaded and worked fine).
Flashed TWRP.
Booted rom.
reboots into TWRP fine everytime.
seems to work great, no FC other than the setting app that always closes.:good::good:
Hi guys I don't think arters TWRP is to be used... It's strictly for the OP3T

I did not flash a vendor image and I am on the L vendor. Does not say mismatch when boots up.
Yes volume to skip works for me.

I used Beans' gapps... Since it seems more tailored to Pixel devices more than opengapps... Also you need to restore from cloud not setup as new device for it to show up

How is the camera quality compared to stock? Has PA also the pulldown menu with figerprint like stock?

We recommend you to take the advice above regardless.
halogenOS Checklist
Although no data should be lost or damaged by the flashing process,
we advise you to follow the following steps if you are coming from another rom:
Please take a full nandroid backup!
Please copy your back up to an external device.
Backing up your Internal Storage is also recommended.
When completed, please clean flash the build!
Although you usually can dirty flash halogenOS over other ROMs, considering the other
ROM has the same Android version, it is not guaranteed. In case of serious
crashes please do a clean flash.
You can dirty flash halogenOS 7 (Nougat) over halogenOS 6 (Marshmallow)
without any problems. Although we can't promise that it will work for you,
we can tell you that this has been tested. In fact, @xdvs23 did a dirty flash of
XOS 7 over XOS 6 and has no problems.
If you get app crashes after dirty flashing over XOS 6 or another ROM, please just
clear the app data of those apps, and it should work fine then.
XOS is a new generation Android-based cutting-edge OS based on the Android Open Source Project and Code Aurora Forum releases.
What is XOS?
halogenOS, also known as XOS is a new Android ROM which ships with the global aim to
become a modular ROM which keeps as high as potentially possible operating
performance on your mobile device while still maintaining a sufficient feature
base of nice, small and minimal features that would not be available via any
external feature base, extension, mod or plugin.
We hope you have a truly halogenified experience!
Internals of XOS
At core, the ROM is composed mainly of components from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP)
and CodeAuroraForums (CAF),
featuring only extremely minor set of components from LineageOS (LaOS or LN) which
have been added to source in order to allow for better cross-device compatibility.
Our LOVE to others
A huge thanks goes to those behind the AOSP and CAF, the LineageOS Project and all of its
contributors for the sources used in the development of the base ROM which we
started with inclusive of all the work and dedication their team puts in order to
keep us updated on the awesome contributions that they make.
We will be keen on ensuring that we be up to date with the code from our base sources,
with regular ROM updates hopefully coming from time to time.
Please do not ask for ETA's (else you shall be spooked by Mr Skeltal). Almost all of us are
students, and with the current lifestyles and routines we have, it is not that easy to acquire
time to develop the ROM, though we'll be sure to keep you updated and release OTAs as
soon as they are available and ready for publication. If you want to be really updated quick,

(constantly updated)
Common stuff
The ROM is super stable as of now and we'll maintain a clean and proper ROM.
Known issues are going to be fixed as soon as possible. We don't have infinite time.
Highlights (some are mido-only):
Reworked Lockscreen Visualizer
New implementation of button backlight
Modern Services -> Google Assistant etc.
Substratum
Full media support (FFMPEG, video codecs, ...)
Great Audio quality, no distortions, no crap
Optimized many portions of the system including surfaceflinger, inputflinger, System Server, and more
Super fast boot
Superuser-capable
Soundmod support (not all soundmods work on Nougat, it's not our fault)
addon.d support (backups your gapps etc. when flashing new build - don't wipe system before flashing!)
init.d support
BusyBox
Disabled Access Time for all partitions (We don't need access time. When access time is enabled, it will store the exact date of the access when a file is accessed, what just wastes write cycles (in theory) and has impact in I/O performance.)
Super smooth
Signature Spoofing toggle (Support for MicroG)
Support for trusted third-party WebViews like Chrome
Long press on home for assist toggle
Security Patches in kernel
Kernel optimizations
Kernel - Upstreamed Linux base to 3.18.55 and CAF Base to LA.UM.5.6.r1-04700-89xx.0
OpenGapps (Mini/Micro/Nano recommended) and Banks GApps support
DoubleTapToWake and DoubleTapToSleep
Alert Slider
Full KeyHandler & KeyDisabler support
Dexpreopt for faster (first) boot time and less space consumption on data partition
Upgrade & Boot the ROM in just 5 minutes - no more endless waiting for flashing a new build
Very high compatibility with other ROMs
VERY IMPORTANT: If you want to use root via SuperSU, make sure to use SuperSU 2.78 SR5 (or newer). Otherwise you won't be able to use sensors. You can also use Magisk and Phh's superuser if you desire to.
How to update the ROM:
Download the latest zip
Reboot into TWRP (Please use official TWRP)
Do not wipe anything
Flash the ROM
Flash SuperSU 2.78 SR5+ or Magisk)
Reboot
You don't need to wipe Cache/Dalvik.
You don't need to flash gapps again. There is some magic going on which keeps your GApps. Just make sure that you don't wipe system before flashing.
You don't need more than 5 minutes.
How to install the ROM for the first time:
Download the latest zip
Reboot into TWRP (Please use official TWRP)
Wipe system, data and cache (If you want to try a dirty flash, dont wipe anything)
Flash the ROM
Flash gapps if you want
Flash Magisk 11.5 (or newer) or SuperSU
Reboot
Screenshots
Currently right now, halogenOS will only include the stock Android theme.
We are going to use a custom theme as soon as that theme is working perfectly fine.

Good, only button backlight not working is annoying any way to fix it?
I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the phone booted for the first time with this ROM, and the few apps that were installed gave it a very Slim-like experience. While I only used it for half an hour, I was quite happy with it, though my only suggestion for now is to add options to swap the order of the hardware buttons. Camera quality didn't seem particularly excellent either, though that could just be my personal opinion.

Can't wait to install this on my soon the be shipped Mi5S... I gotta ask, what is the reason why (according to some users) MIUI sound quality is extremely bad? I hear that LOS/AOSP ROMs have much better audio, especially this ROM.

We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.

can i flash miui 12.5.8??? Or which one do you recommend globally?
Read comment below.
Nice rom. Flashed it on my friend's redmi 9t and me and my friend haven't noticed any issues. I used fastboot since most custom recoveries were broken.
Here are some issues and solutions I had(not the rom's fault, just inexperience):
Had to use the --force flag on fastboot since the codename was set to bengal and my friend's was lemon.
Had to install Google's adb and fastboot drivers(https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb) due to windows not detecting fastbootd.
Very good rom and the only one I was able to flash.
can you tell me anything which was include on this rom?
any screenshot?
GApps is included or vanilla?

GApps included.
howdy..
I'm currently running PixelOS based on Android 13, but it has some stupendously annoying issues, including:
screen randomly stops turning on - it vibrates on unlock with my fingerprint, but the screen never lights up. tapping the power button to "turn off the screen" and then unlocking with my fingerprint makes it vibrate again as expected, but the screen still doesn't light up. when this occurs, the "double tap to wake" feature also stops working... only workaround is to hold the power button for 10 seconds to force a reboot.
camera randomly opens when I tap the power button - it has a "short hold" shortcut (half a second? I think?) that launches the camera, but this seems to trigger sporadically when I don't expect it to.
custom launcher randomly thinks it's no longer configured - using Apex Launcher 4.9 pops up a message every day or two to say that it's not the default launcher, while it actually still is.. setting it as my launcher again or simply dismissinng the popup makes no difference at all, the same message will inevitably pop up again in a few days.
I see the "beta 2" changelog mentions "Fixed double tap to wake", which I suspect might be related to my first issue with PixelOS.
so before I go through the fun process of changing Android and setting up all my apps.. again.. has anybody experienced any sort of daily-driver deal breaker issues with Topaz?

No, there doesn't appear to be any daily-driver deal breaker issues with this. The only problem my friend had was no aod, which he solved with an app.

awesomeness.. thanks for the feedback. I don't really care much for AOD, so that's no issue for me.
guess it's time to refresh backups then.
Hi,
Where can i find advanced restart meniu (ex. boot te recovery) and dual SIM ringtone settings?
Thank you.
Is the included kernel good, I`m curious about kernel and average battery drain since support for custom kernels is limited. also , is offline charging fixed? thanks in advance
After a week of use I can say that I am very satisfied with this rom. Leaving aside the small shortcomings (it's beta though), offline charging is working, I recommend this build.
Thank you for this great rom.

After a week of use I can say that I am very satisfied with this rom. Leaving aside the small shortcomings (it's beta though), offline charging is working, I recommend this build.
Thank you for this great rom.

any major or minor bugs?,And how is battery life?
Major bugs didn't find, minor advanced restart meniu (ex. boot te recovery) and dual SIM ringtone settings. Battery life, i can't say because i connect a lot my phone to pc (usb cable) also to my car (android auto). I can say with confidence that it lasts almost two days. No reboots, the phone does not freeze as I experienced with other roms.
Can I sideload it using pixelos recovery or pixel experience recovery?
Or what recovery do you prefer for this build
