Hello everybody.
I have a Galaxy Note 8 phone. Frankly, I'm starting to think that every update is making the phone a bit slower. For this reason, I want to go back as far as I can go and install the oldest firmware I can. But I did some research and found out that if the bootloader is different, I would not be able to install it with odin. How do we understand this? Which version can I go back to?
Also does this trip the Knox counter?
Enter the exact model name in the search box.

You can only roll back the firmware to a version with the same BIT that is currently on the phone. You will check it in the firmware list for your model.
Flashing the original firmware does not trip the knox flag.
Changing the bootloader and/or rooting trip the knox flag.

Are the files here legitimate? I have it downloaded and about to install it using odin but I don't want to brick my phone during the process..
It's official rom, you also can download via samfirm

Hi, I want to flash a ROM from a different region on my Note 9. Will Knox be tripped if I use Odin to flash a stock ROM from sammobile?
I know Samsung's have either the Exynos or the Snapdragon chipset and it's not possible to flash a Snapdragon firmware on a Exynos phone.
However, I have an Exynos Note 9 (SM-N960F) and I'm planning to flash another stock Exynos ROM from a different region (also model SM-N960F).
My question is, will Knox be tripped if I use Odin to flash a different region, stock ROM from sammobile?
Knox won't trip if only flash original different firmware
Has anyone tried it?
Hi all !
I want to know if I can install another firmware from the same country on my Note 9, I want to change my operator firmware (SFR) to the standard french firmware (XEF) and if possible without erasing my personnal data. My Note 9 is unlocked for all operators...
I also want to know if I do that, will OTA updates still be available for XEF firmware or I have to do next update with Odin too?
Having no longer used Odin since my Note 2 under Android 3.1, I would like to avoid making a mistake.
Thank you to who will help me and give me the exact procedure to follow.
I have a galaxy A6 (ATT) that is stuck on android 8. it shows there is an update available but when you check for updates it says its current. my goal is to get it on 10 which is the current version for this phone. I cannot find firmware on samfirm or sammobile for A600A is there something special about this phone?
Hello,
Recently i bought a used Japanese Docomo Note 8 (snapdragon), i believe that the stock rom is tweaked/upgraded/modified to accept my local carrier in Malaysia.
I did a search and found that Snapdragon chip is only available on SM-N950U/SM-N9500 version but it appears that my phone model number in "about phone" is SM-N950F.
As far as i know that N950F is using Exynos SoC.
I am now having trouble to install and use Shealth together with others banking app or even Samsung Pay.
I checked my chipset from CPUz and it is indeed a Snapdragon but running on SM-N950F version of firmware.
this is my current firmware information:-
BL : N950FXXS5DSC5
AP : N950FXXS5DSC5
CP : N950FXXS5DSC5
CSC : N950FOXM5DSB2
HW REV : N950JPN.04
(More on details on my attached screenshot)
I downloaded latest firmware for N950F and flash with latest Odin, result is fail attempt with "secure check fail : pit"
I have limited knowledge on Samsung Note 8 firmware and hoping that you can enlighten me.
My plan is to identify what is going on with the current stock firmware and if possible to flash back to Original stock rom (CSC: XME) or perhaps any Multi-CSC stock firmware.
Or is it save to just using custom rom with bricking the device?
