I recently started a new project where I include a keyboard. During my research, I noticed that there were quite a few developers looking for the AOSP Keyboard (LatinIME) build with gesture typing.
I converted the source into an Android Studio project that includes the language packs and optional gesture typing.
I searched the forums here using Android tags to see if one was already posted, but I didn't find one. So, I figured I would share it for anyone interested.
You can find it here:

Hi, is there any new HTC_IME with arrows (please see bottom of the attached picture)?
High Res HTC_IME V27 doesn’t have arrows and default one on the HTC Desire HD can’t control the key vibration level and doesn’t have gesture (swipe) actions.
Any help/suggestion will be highly appreciated.
I have asked Gimpsta before about this for my old Desire. Apparently, the HTC_IME with arrows is not opensource, like Swype, so cannot be customised and distributed legally (was discussed a few months ago).
This means that no forums will be able to show links for this, but it does not mean it doesn't exist. I, for one, have not found such files though.

Do you know where to get the code for the open source version?
EDIT: I don't hope that you mean the source of the keyboard from the link posted by OP, because the code for that keyboard only contains the code for some "helper" apps written by the developer. It also contains some decompiled (smali) code of the original HTC Keyboard, not the real java source code.
Bump! IME mod.
I am also extremely interested in this. Is there anyone out there who can modify the currently widespread High res "HTC IME mod" keyboard on other handsets and simply add a new row with arrows?
I've been using the HTC IME mod since it was so masterfully hacked together a long time ago, and would love to be able to use a variation of this IME on my beautiful Desire HD.
If only HTC learned from the keyboards being used by rooters and custom ROM users and included the changes in their own stock input apps!
If only I knew Java and how to decompile!!
Hi,
Im trying to figure out if the built in LG keyboard has any form of prediction built in. I'm currently writing in Danish and I miss the HTC IME excellent text prediction. I can see the right word in the bar but it doesn't auto correct?
Can this be enabled in some way or do I need to hunt down a keyboard replacement?
I tried the stock keyboard and had the same issue, it does kind of pretend but it sucks ass. That's why I installed the Gingerbread keyboard from Android market (link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free&feature=search_result ), with the language pack you need, it works great
this may be an odd request, but has anyone created or found a WP7 style keyboard for android? the only thing i like about WP7 is the keyboard, its very minimalistic.
If there is no such thing, what would be the best keyboard jump off to start working on my own?

thanks so much!
Hi all,
Was wondering if we could have a "phone" keyboard in ROMS like AOSP CM MIUI AND AOKP.
i guess it doesn't come by default. can somebody help in getting a patch for this ??
QWERTY usually is not of my type though most of them use it..
can someone share the link if we already have a patch for this ?? i know there are third party keyboards. but somehow i like the stock ones which are pretty decent and neat.
Sharing few screenshots for reference.
AOSP keyboard does not support this layout. Can you not try an alternative keyboard? Like go keyboard or simeji keyboard. They have the phone layout
Sent from my Incredible S
Thanks!!! But however, i wanted the same keyboard. its basically simple to use unlike the third party keyboards.
Just wanted to figure out if this was possible in other subject ROMS..
Yesterday was released the first Developer Preview of Android 8.0 (I think this will be the version).
Android O may feature new notifications, app icons badges notifications (Woah! I do this since nova Launcher exists! iOS since 2010..) , picture-in-picture mode, smart text selection, (like previous CMs, right?) gesture support, and a new policy to restrict background app activities (Maybe this might be interesting).
However, not much has changed. So, the questions we ask ourselves all are two:
1. Is there a way to get the preview (AOSP) on our 3t?
2. When Google decides to radically change Android eliminating its famous wakelock? When will abandon this boring Material design? Really no longer has ideas?
