Hi all,
I just got my Mi MIX today (6gb version). I have been trying to get TWRP and SuperSU working on it, then flash the EU rom. During this process, my TWRP has become unresponsive. At the same time, my Wifi cannot be enabled. (I am installing EU rom because my Google Play Store download speed was throttled, and I could not find the option in Mi App Store to disable)
I am hoping that someone has a stock recovery I can flash, or knows how I can revert to stock. I have ADB and Fastboot installed.
I have tried re-flashing TWRP, and it does not work. I have also tried Fastboot -w to see if it helps. It instead shows me the screen asking to write to system again, instead of the main menu like before.
Any help is very appreciated! :crying:
go read the entire detailing how to install xposed, twrp, etc others have had similar things happen and there are instructions on what to type in fastboot to fix. just read the thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix/how-to/guide-flash-global-china-rom-root-gapps-t3510592/page1
The OP in this thread has a comprehensive run through of how to install TWRP, EU ROM and root with Su. I suggest using the EU TWRP from the beginning as we found that it works best with the CN Stable ROM (8.0.11.0) .
Don't forget to root
Cheers

Hello people,
Just received my new Mix today and after a few first tweaks and basic customizations (not planning on rooting just yet), I have a couple of doubts... First, though, make clear that I had an update waiting as soon as I opened updater app, OTA installed with no problems MIUI Global 8.2.4.0 (MAHMIDL). I guess that makes it an official ROM, right?
Then the doubts:
1: I checked and it turns out phone is unlocked... What's that mean? Is that normal, usual? Does it mean it is not new?
2: I enabled dev options and, when in there, there is not the toggle for "enable (or allow, don't remember) OEM unlock"? Does that option disappear when phone is unlocked?
Sorry for the super boon level and thanks in advance...

The seller unlocked the bootloader so he could install the Global Rom for you and the unlock lock toggle is in a different menu i think.

Does it mean that if I try to flash twrp through my pc (adb) on my mi mix with the global rom it wont delete my data? (Because bootloader is already unlocked)

Flashing the TWRP won't delete any data but you have to root then. Otherwise your device may get encrypted(you have to do factory reset to get rid of encryption which removes all of your data). As also noted in twrp site:
This device uses dm-verity!
This means that swiping to allow system modifications will prevent you from being able to boot if you are using the stock kernel. In order to bypass dm-verity's boot prevention, you will have to install a kernel that has dm-verity disabled in the fstab.

Grats on the Mix and enjoy Its unique enough to be a fun device.
Alright!
Thanks for the answers
I kept searching and kind of arrived at that conclusion although wasn't sure so great.
I guess that must also be why when verifying with antutu it says the device was sold online in march while I ordered it last monday...
So far I am really liking this big fellow

Hi!
Even my Mi Mix arrived with unlocked bootloader.
Vendor unlocked it and has installed Global ROM with Italian language available.
So, without waiting more time, I've flashed twrp and a custom ROM after 10 minutes [emoji3]

I just bought an unlocked Mi Mix from a US reseller. Does that mean I will get the Global Rom too? Is there a benefit of the Global vs standard version? Will I be able to download all my Google Apps, Netflix and DTV Now?
As far as I know the fact that it comes unlocked doesn't necessarily mean it will come with global rom.
As for types of MIUI official rom's, there's a few threads around explaining them all. You can also google it, as it is a common issue. In my understanding, global is not opposite to "normal" Among official MIUI roms, there are basically global and chinese versions, and within each kind you get stable roms and developer or beta roms.
You will need to check the one you got preinstalled when you get the device.
On the other hand, check this forum and you will find all kinds of answers and tones of resources.
I highly recommend Underlines master thread grouping main stuff for the Mix: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix/how-to/guide-flash-global-china-rom-root-gapps-t3510592
I just ordered my Mi Mix yesterday and received it this morning.
The phone was brand new and sealed, still a virgin, I was the first to break the seal.
My device too had an unlocked bootloader! I had recovery and custom rom running in minutes...

Hi everyone! I had OPS27.82-87-3 on my XT1925-5 and got the update hint from Motorola again and again. Update did not work (because of TWRP3.2.3 and Magisk 18). I could not install another ROM (I already reported elsewhere!). Now I have tried the Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant and since then OPS27.82-90 with security patch October 1 on myXT1925-5. But: TWRP is gone, Magisk too and at the start again the "unlocked etc." Klimbim, my beautiful boot-logo is also gone. I do not know yet if and when I switch to TWRP and Magisk again. It does not really make sense without any proper custom ROM!
Another thing: All apps are still there, the appearance has not changed, all contacts, calendars, etc. is unchanged! Of course, some apps that had root privileges only partially work! But that is logical!
Greetings from Austria!
Why would you post this question in the development section of the forums? [emoji848]. Better place would have been in the Q&A section...

Yeah that's how it works. It flashed the servicefile.xml instead of the flashfile.xml. Which flashed system, boot, and all other partitions without wiping data.
Same can be accomplished with RSD lite or fastboot along with a stock firmware package.
Hello guys,
I recently installed Evo X ROM on my Mi 9T pro device, following MUNCHY (youtuber) steps. And I gotta say that my device works smoothly. But now, my banking apps can do nothing. Say for example, I wanted to revert to MIUI stock ROM with locked bootloader, what are the steps? I cannot find anything in the forum yet with the detailed steps on it.
Another question is, how would you know what ROM were you previously installed now that you are in Custom ROM? Say for example, Global EU, or Chinese, or Global Stable? Since I followed Munchy's tutorial, I see that the firmware I previously got was Global EU, does this mean that my previous ROM was Global EU?
Cheers!

If you see a blank page viewing on a mobile, then change the browser to desktop mode and refresh. In step 5 you will keep the default flash option of 'clean all and lock'. You just need to make sure it is the correct ROM first, otherwise you risk hard bricking the phone.
Not sure if there's any way of knowing what version of MIUI the phone originally came with, other than looking at the label on your box, now that you've flashed a custom ROM. If you have a Mi 9T Pro and not a K20 Pro, then you should be OK flashing either the Global EU or 'True' Global. Looking around the Mi Community site I've linked above, you can find an article saying that you can cross flash EU and Global ROMs and still lock the bootloader. From what you've said it sounds like you was on EU, but without knowing the video you watched, I don't know what information you're basing that on. (If you got the info from the about phone setting page before flashing, then you have an EU phone. If the info is because the video instructed you to blindly flash the latest EU firmware files, then we're still not sure)

Hello Robbo,
Thank you for the detailed response.
I have a Mi 9T Pro. Currently, I do not have the box it originally came with. From the youtube video, it directed me to check the firmware I previously had from the settings before I flash the custom rom . The firmware from my settings says, RAPHAELEEAGlobal. But actually, I am not quite sure if this correlates to having an EEAGLOBAL(EU ROM). Can you please enlighten me?

Yes you had the Global EU ROM, so go ahead and flash that again and lock the bootloader.
Head over to here and download the latest EEA/EU fastboot ROM.
If you're not familiar with the site, it links to the official downloads, so completely trustworthy.
Flash it with the tutorial I linked to earlier.
