My 2.5 year old Mi 9T pro entered EDL mode suddenly. Is there any way to repair the phone? I must mention that the phone had a custom ROM (Evolution X), but I did not make any changes to it for the past 8 months
Hi, did you find a solution?
The same thing happened to me today with my 3 year old Mi 9T Pro, went to sleep with a working phone and woke up with a brick. I was also on Evolution X which I didn't change since May last year (9 months).
It shows in device manager as "...QDloader 9008..." which would indicate EDL mode and MiFlash and QFIL also see it in EDL mode. But I tried flashing it many times and it fails each time.
I tried different Qualcomm drivers, different MiFlash versions, a modified authenticated FireHose file and it always fails with "cannot receive hello packet" or "can not read from port COM".
I even opened the phone, tried shorting the EDL test points, tried disconnecting and reconnecting all the connectors and nothing works.
I think the most probable cause is hardware failure which really sucks because the phone worked great until now and I wasn't planning on replacing it for t least another year.
Hi, no, I did not find any solution. I also tried all of the things you tried (except opening the phone). I also spoke to a guy that has an authorized xiaomi account and he told me that he's 99% certain it's a hardware problem. Sadly, I think he's right. I bought a Poco F3 now, despite the fact that I wanted to hold on to the Mi 9T pro for as long as possible.

Hello.
I have an MI5 since three years and was very happy with it , but the battery needed replacement. So following the suggestions on this forum, I Bought a Nohon battery, the replacement procedure went well until the very last moment. Unfortunately the phone turned on before I put the two parts , the one on hthe upper side of the battery and the one below the battery. SO I turned it off (it went staight to TWRP) and put back all the parts and since the I am on a TWRP Bootloop. I tried to flush the of the custom roms I have downloaded preveosly (Revolution and xiaomi.eu) but no success.
I also tried to connect the phone to a PC (ubuntu, win7 , win10) but now success, it s simply is not recongized (xiaomi drivers installed)
So i dont even no how to put a fastboot rom as the phone is not recongized. Though I would first wanted to save the photos that i have on the phone. (Connecting to pc and enabling MTP from TWRP does not work).
SO i anyone could help me ...I am out of ideas.
Thanks
Only solution I can think of is putting your Mi5 in EDL mode using the PCB test point on the mainboard. However this method will delete all content.
To give you a fair warning: I would try this if I'm 5 minutes away from throwing away the phone - as kind of a last try before giving up.
I found a video tutorial showing the steps, however not in English:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED96PJ-qYMM
The video will show how to operate the PCB test point at 4:30.
After that, you may use MiFlash tool to flash MIU ROM.
Well few days ago my phone just started normally and is working fine so far. i think though that the usb C plug might be damaged, as my phone is still not recognized by my PC.
Hey guys! My mi max 2 phone stuck at mi logo and always restarting.

hello! my phone was 2.5-3 years old so this happened after warranty time.
I try to go some local services and they told me, " we tried the EDL mode but still not working, you have to find a new motherboard."
Then i tried some ROMs with EDL mode, my phone was accepting the ROMs but when i try to restart, it was still rebooting...
So i search Mi service and send them to my phone, after 2 week they send my phone back, and told me "Unathorized attempt on motherboard." And offered me much much more repair fee than the price I got it can you believe that!? i bought it at 1200 but they offered me 1450..... Man this phone is 3 yearsold...
SUMMARY
Anyway, i continue to search and probably eMMC chip broken, ( or just cold solder)
It happened suddenly, i was wathcing vids on youtube while cooking....
Now my phone dead and i am still sleeping with them
Maybe 1day i can trust someone and fix it.
Also today using note9pro, i hate the mi phones, freezing, camera dust, crashing apps... That was never happen on max2....
If you ask me buy a realme! Unfortunately new phones is thicker than max2.. and the 16:9 format is over :crying:
Look at ozymandious' thread. Could be a hardware issue, due to moist, bad battery, bad components, bad luck, anything until you get the motherboard checked out.
Hello all,
I own a mi5 for several years, it's the pro version of 64gb.
I've been using since the beginning the xiaomi.eu beta version and very happy with it.
Now in last xmas I bought a mi8 128GB from a person at a very node price, so I decided last month to clean my mi5 and installed the pixel experience.
Just for the record I missed so much the miui features, but gain battery and the android 10 news....
Now the problem, the mi5, Las Thursday, went off, and didn't boot, when plugged the cable to charge, no signal.
Connected to the pc, and verified it entered in edl mode.
So I grab the mi flash and the last rom for it, the v10.... and it flashed successfully but it doesn't boot, don't get out of edl.
Now going to try the pinpoint to see if it works, but is there any other thing to? Or my mi5 is now an official brick.

Help me please I to changed my dpi to 5000please help
how did you enter in to the EDL? I really need to enter in to edl.
Hi! i was changing os to oxygen 13 smt went wrong on phone and it was left in safe mode after everything was finished i pressed reboot and since then my phone has no reaction to anything literally anything! now currently trying Edl mode however so far not successful. screen is completely dark no action power keys probably dont work, even when conected to charger nothing happens is there solutions for it anyone ?
@hackslash Has been looking for someone to get their phone into EDL mode in this exact situation to try and help everyone get MSM tool access to save the phone. Your options are pretty much three.
1) Contact the community here and try to solve the issue "ourselves."
2) Pay some """contractor""" to remotrly flash your phome for a fee. (Links to this can not be posted on XDA.)
or 3) Send it back to OnePlus via RMA process. Should still be under the first year manufacturer warranty.
So The redmi note 10 pro atleast in India( redmi support has admitted to it) had this front camera issue where after the MIUI 13.0.5 update cameras had stopped working, also my Snapchat and instgram camera parts totally died. This was annoying but I was just going with it because I don't have the time to go to the repair shop for the "free fix".
Now yesterday I was just doing my thing using my phone browsing something when the app I was using ( think it was Gmail) crashed so i restarted the app and then it kept being extremely slow and finally the phone just died like froze and that system UI crashed thing was being shown but I couldnt do anyhting on the screen so I just held my power button expecting it to restart.
Now the issue began, the phone refused to boot up, after the original MI logo and a run of the theme's boot up animation it would freeze and the whole thing would happen again. It kept happening for a long time so then I went into safe mode, dad deleted all apps he thought are unsafe (they aren't mostly) and then rebooted but it wouldn't start so he said factory reset it. I went ahead and took whatever back up I could on safe mode and did that but now the phone would just boot into "system UI crashed" and be unresponsive.
I'm not sure at this point if I could boot in safe mode but i had given up and it was on another bootloop when I just removed the sim to out it into this trash phone and I did but after like 5 minutes I have no clue how it just booted into setup like a first day phone. Went ahead and set it up even rebooted to see if it's flawless and it was fine. Guess what even after all that the camera issues were still there. Today morning the phone was acting a little up but I didn't give it much thought. School got over boot it up and it wouldn't boot up again, went into safe mode and rebooted somehow that worked, reached home and voila using an app and this time it decides to reboot on its own and again back to zero.
I was so fed up and this is where first paragraph comes in I assumed this is all because this 13.0.5 is absolutely garbage for my phone and I should go back to another version of MIUI so I started watching videos on that.
Downloaded mi unlocked tool, pretty sure i did the OEM unlocking thing and mi account thing( i did all this in safemode because normal wouldn't boot) and went into fastboot but it wouldn't show up in the unlocker app. Thought I did something wrong tried again and failed again. But now it decided to not even open in safemode and then I gave up. My dad did something and wiped data and when it boots up now it just says device is locked in an unresponsive state where I can't type in the pass word (obviously because system UI has crashed) and it won't stop booting into this same screen. I can't enter safemode now but I'm not sure about fastboot. Please help I'm new here and I'm sorry for the extremely long post. If there are other places I can post and get help please tell.
To me my friend you sound like youre in a spot, I think personally, youre best solution is a service centre repair, warranty or not, sounds like you have some major issues there that are beyond simply flashing, and the more you mess the worse it gets. If it is a new phone i would be returning it for repair or replacement, if Xiaomi have admitted to camera problems then they should be liable for repairing the phones that suffer with this problem, you need to contact them to find out what you are entitled to.
