Hi, I have a new Galaxy S23 device with 2 active SIM cards (one private and the other from work). My old device is XIAOMI also with 2 cards. How do I transfer all the content from the old device to the new one? There are 2 WhatsApp accounts, 2 "messages", and 2 contacts: privates and from work, both in separate Google accounts...
Thank you all
in my case Samsung Smart Switch has copied successfully all app and settings from S21 to S23 including two whatsapp account with dual sim configuration (but Whatsapp on first sim and Whatsapp Business on second sim)

TNX, and when do I have to insert the 2 sim cards into the new phone: at the beginning of the process or at the end?

Hi guys. I have copied my contacts from my SIM card to the phone. However, the phone now shows both contacts from SIM card and phone, meaning duplicates of contacts.
Is there anyway to just view the contacts from either the phone or the SIM card?
With my wm6 tornado, that setting was hidden with phone network settings such as divert calls, call waiting etc.

Thx a lot for the help guys
I am having problems with my contacts. Thread here. Not making a lot of progress.
One suggestion I read somewhere was to delete my contacts from the SIM. But the Contact management software on the phone only allows copy to/from the SIM.
Anyone know how to delete contacts from the SIM on a Captivate?

I couldn't find way to delete all the contacts from SIM card all together. I've deleted them one by one.
Go to 'Contacts', here you'll see contacts marked with small sigh of SIM card. Hold you finger on the contact for 2-3 seconds. A pop-up menu will apper. The menu contains 'Delete' item. Choose it and the contact will be deleted from the SIM card.
I put the SIM in an older (Symbian) phone. That permitted wholesale deletion of the contacts.
Thanks for the tip. I put it back in my WinMo phone to delete them.
Tempting to make a wise crack
So far, the only thing I've found is "Contact Remover" on the market. I tried it after reading a post by Kak and android forums.
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ca...contacts-sim-text-messaging-contact-list.html
Like he says, you can't "organize" it based on sim or phone, but your sim card contacts will always be listed 1st.
So if you have
John
John
John
The 1st two will likely be from your sim card. I would export your contacts first, just in case and maybe double check their order by displaying both phone and sim contacts. It's not perfect, but it made it a heck of a lot easier than individually deleting!
According to the manual (yes I read it), it states you can Copy contacts from Phone to SIM or vice versa.
But following their steps doesn't give the option to copy (p68 in manual).
Yes there is an option to import/export the contacts; they allow you to import/export to your SD card.
But when you want to import/export to your SIM card, they give it a fancy shmancy name; they call it 'Copying' your contacts. Very clever of them!
But I can't see this option yet on my I9000. Can you?
TIA
I have the option there: contacts/menu/more/copy contacts and there are 2 options: sim to phone and phone to sim
I have the option, but it does not apeear to work.

Well this is a bit of a bummer.
What version phone do you have?
I have the French version. (Using English language)
My menu options are as follows:
contacts/menu/more/accounts, send e-mail, Import/export, Settings, Send via bluetooth
Nothing about Copy.
OK I am making some progress here.
I have figured out why I didn't have the option.
I keep my phone in 'Flight mode' most of the time.
In Flight mode, you DON'T have the option to copy your contacts to SIM.
A silly thing to do in my opinion (have the feature disabled in flight mode).
BUT, there's more.
When you do copy your contacts to SIM, you lose almost everything.
The only thing that is copied is the name and tel number. That's it!
You lose your Groups, and any other details in your contact cards.
I don't have pics attached yet, but I'll bet you lose them too.
Bummer!
Has anyone here exported their contacts to their SD card, wiped out their phone contacts, then imported from their SD card to see if *everything*
was imported faithfully? Groups, details, pics etc.?
TIA

When the SIM technology was invented there was only phone numbers around. =)
It's not about Galaxy S. It's about SIM technology. Most of them can only store 64 kb or 128 kb. So we can say that SIM phone book is for emergencies only.

OK thanks! I'm quite new with mobile phones, so I'm still learning a lot of the basics.
I just thought that what we have with computers etc. translates immediately to smartphones. They are smart phones right and not just a regular cell phone?
I have a Pocket PC from circa 2004 that does more than this new I9000!
I knew it. It's definitely possible. What you may ask? Well, here's the thing, me and my friend had a bet, I told him that the entire population of China CAN FIT in Singapore. All you got to do is BELIEVE in yourself.
But seriously, I would not want to use the SIM for main contacts. What I personally do is to just make "VIP" contacts in the SIM, those that I really need, just in case I had to put it in a cheap phone (or an expensive one without memory).
What this phone has is the SYNC with your Google account. Excellent stuff. Sync your contacts, mail, and calendar without having to pay for anything.
Same thing on Apple iPhone's MobileMe solution would cost you a good $99/year.

Thanks Opethian. I'm just going to have to get used to this phone's limitations and also its goodies. There's a lot of stuff I haven't even begun to explore yet.
I'm just starting with the basic stuff for me. I'm not too pleased that this phone (probably most?) doesn't have contact subfolders. But I'll get used to it I suppose.

Happy to help here bro, as much as I can if possible.
Can you advise on what you mean by contact subfolders? Do you mean creating "groups" of contacts?

Not really.
What I mean is having inside the "Friends" folder another folder that says perhaps,
"Golf Buddies" or "Tennis Buddies" etc.
Having them out on their own in the first screen of Groups can get messy very quickly.
It would also be nice to have an option to start the Contacts app in Groups mode, rather than viewing all of your Contacts together.
I just got my GT-N7100 and was trying to migrate my N-7000 contacts and other backedup data to the new device but it wont take the files associated with GT-N7000 Does any one have any idea on how to do it without much hastle.
sync to google, Log into google on the new phone and sync contacts Job done :good:
As for data, What data are you referring to ? Are both phones rooted? If so, Try titanium backup

The google contacts have synced the one on my SIM wont , messages, Music. I even created a backup og GT-N7100 and it uses 4 different file formats but nothing that would support GT-N7000 file format (i guess it is .Sub)
As much as I hate Kies, Have you tried it ?
It does have a backup function which should transfer across to the new Note. If not, There are apps that can backup messages and playlists, Im pretty sure Titanium can do this also (I dont backup messages, and all music is on external SD)
The sim contacts should be easy to transfer, Just pop the sim into the new Note and then export from SD to Phone, Or do this on the Note 1 and then sync them to google and resync on Note 2

Yes i created backup using KIES itself thats how the .SUB file extension was created. As far as the Sim goes the problem is both the sim's are different one a regular while other a micro sim (Microsim can get stuck in N7000 without the adapter). I have the cutter and can cut the sim and slide it in the new note but wanted to move the contents from it before cutting. Havent tried titanium backup will do it today and see if the backup files created by it on N7000 are compatible with N7100.
Oh my bad ! I didnt know you had used Kies. Im not sure what extension it creates cause I never use it lol I hate it !!
You shouldnt have any issues with titanium, Its a wonderful tool that can do almost anything.
As for the micro sim, I didnt know the Note 2 had one what is with these damn things I hate them, reminds me of people trying to be like apple !
Anyway good luck
Here some suggestions
Use this guide how to restore kies contact backup
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30984377&postcount=5
- try this
In note1 go to contact display options and make all visible
Then contact - export/import-export to ext sd card
Then use same micro sd to note2 and same wat use import from contact
Use sms backup/restore for msgs
-read toolbox from my note 1 signature and find transfer data application
You can transfer contact and msgs from one device to other devices with blutooth.
