Hi everyone, recently i've tried to flash a custom recovery (TWRP) and a custom rom (pixel experience) on my Redmi 8.
But after succesfully installing them, i noticed that there were lots of cool things you could do with a rooted phone.
So, i decided to install Magisk (v25.2) on it.
After the setup was done, it would go to bootloop, so, i recovered it by flashing the boot image of the rom i was using (still pixel experience) and it worked!
My phone went back to normal, but i still want to install Magisk.
Everytime i try to install it, the same thing happens over and over.
Can someone help me please?
Thank you.

iirc this version of pix exp should be able to use root and change kernels, it was another version that was picky. did you try an older magisk version? which pix exp were you having probs with?
you prolly got this rom from elsewhere right?
sadly most mi439 users arent active on the xda, and typically on telegram

Sorry, I don't understand, what do you mean by "you got this ROM from elsewhere right?"
I got this ROM from the official site of pix exp.
where did you see a posting of this rom? i dont think its posted in this olive subforum, and the dev (shield) is an lite+wood dev
the term mi439 isnt really recognized here, but its gaining recognition (like most roms, and even on twrp) :3

I wanted to make my phone much faster and better, so i searched through various custom ROMs videos and thought that this was the best for my needs (in fact it has everything I needed).
I decided to go to the official site and install it, and now i have it on my phone.

Great Job mate. Did you compile it yourself?

Hi AdamBs,
I tried both your methods.
First i tried to flash the update.zip through mi recovery and i got the error that the package is not digitally signed.
Then i tried the fastboot method and i got TWRP, but afrer reboot it went back to mi recovery.
Am i missing something?
Can you show log after installation rom? I have twrp from http://en.miui.com/thread-156838-1-1.html , also I tested twrp from http://en.miui.com/thread-152550-1-1.html and so it looks (screen).

Hope it could be fixed soon. For now only recovery which reboots properly is http://en.miui.com/thread-156838-1-1.html, others I tried (didn't try this before link was removed) freezes on reboot and I have to remove battery. But that one should be flashed using PC.
BTW: should this still belongs to original development thread, it seams like unnoficial TWRP port, right?

Is this method ok? As i plan to use this when my phone arrives, install is pretty simple, put the file on phone and install from updater.
Thanks for your efforts on this one! Patiently waiting for the flashable zip

Yes, it works
Thanks dude. I unzipped just the recovery image and usesd flashify to, um, flash it. That allowed me to make a nandroid backup before I started experimenting with an alternate ROM. I'm so glad I did that because it turned out that Xiaomi's internal backup app doesn't work properly. It didn't restore my contacts, my appointments and some other things. It was really great to use TWRP to return to the setup I had this morning before experimenting with so little hassle After I was done I just did a dirty flash of my current ROM over the top to restore the original recovery.
What about Redmi Note 2 opensource? We able to get kernel sources or even build device tree for any AOSP based ROM? Newer look into MTK before.
P.s. For now wait untill I get my device.

Did you get it from ZOPO's vanzo server or any else?
I have to mention you that DMCA would takedown the source if you caught any notice.

Technically they could request I remove it but it's GPL despite mediatec claiming it's closed source. No matter how much posturing they do I don't think there is much they can do to enforce it. As to the source no it's not from Zopo only these devices use the MT6795

I know that you may not notice, but I'm a mod here. Hi! My post was based on reports made by users, so it's not just my imagination. I'm glad to hear that everything works fine if users know what to do. Anyway, enjoy your ROM!
Hi, i have just bought a Z2 Pro and i have a few questions on what's the best setup i can do with it and put onto it. I think i have the international ROM on the device as it came with Google Play store and it has plenty of languages to choose from.
In Settings/About it states it has Android 6.0.1 and ZUI Version 2.3.044 ST on it.
I cannot for the life of me find how to check if there is an update for the ZUI on the phone so i am wondering how i can go about updating the firmware without voiding any warranty. I have limited experience in rooting phones and i would like to see if i can live with the latest ZUI version before delving into custom ROM'S to be honest.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to upgrade the official international firmware for the ZUK Z2 Pro?
Regards
Stuart
it seems you've an unofficial vendor ROM
so you need to unlock bootloader and then flash with QFIL tool proper stock ROM or custom ROM (GizRom Nougat 7.x).
you will find all infos here: zukfans.eu/community/forums/zuk-z2-pro.4/
Thank you for clearing it up for me. I will look into bootloaders and flashing a ROM version onto it to get a more up to date version of android.

With QFIL you don´t need to unlock your bootloader

I managed to update to the latest ZUI but if i am honest it's not to my liking as half of the apps and writing is in Chinese so it's got to go.
I am now looking at how to put a custom Nougat ROM on that doesn't have many problems on the Z2 PRO. I believe i will have to figure out how to root the phone and possibly unlock the bootloader before flashing.
Are there any guides in how to flash a custom ROM on this site and what would be considered the best ROM to use?
Regards

I followed this guide which worked fine for unlocking the bootloader and rooting : https://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z2-pro/how-to/howto-install-mokee-7-1-1-unofficial-t3582686
Except instead of flashing Mokee, I recommend flashing this version of AICP : https://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z2-pro/development/rom-aicp-12-1-n-zuk-z2-pro-t3596836 . It's not officially supported by AICP but it's the only one I found where everything works perfectly, including customizing the U-touch gestures, and it comes with Magisk to manage root which is nice I think. Just don't forget to deactivate the 3 Chinese apps that are bundled with the ROM.

This is a known issue with the kernel, and I can't really do anything about it. Run busybox reboot in TWRP terminal and you'll reboot to system.
"Bysybox reboot" in twrp 3.6.1 - twrp reboot me to os?
What rom you use? Pls, can you give me your backup or good rom name?
Nice work. It boots fast.
Maybe you could add a reboot button or replace the current one with one that runs busybox reboot.

Was working on that until I managed to hardbrick my T110. Maybe I'll get back to development someday, but currently not my priority.
Just finished downloading the EU ROM.
Link: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=337313
Download file:
1. Sourceforge link was slow. So I went for the official mirror. Took almost an hr. file size is 4.5 GB. The MD5 is fbdc8ba3b53e94004369535e405f5817. The file upload date is Feb 17, 2023.
2. For more details visit official page: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-14-stable-release.67685/
Note: Better download to laptop and not directly to mobile, unless you have very high speed internet connection. Also the downloaded file is a zip file. Once downloaded check that you can open the zip. This will not work if the file got corrupt during download.
Before I start:
1. Bootloader is unlocked.
2. TWRP is setup.
3. I am on MIUI 13 EU ROM.
4. Download the file on to your laptop and transfer to a folder on the phone using USB.
Steps:
1. Go to My device.
2. Click on MIUI 13.
3. Click on the 3 dots on the top right.
4. Choose the update package. Follow the instructions...
5. 1 min later it took me to TWRP....installation hardly took a min.
6. Reboot to system.
7. Check everything is fine.
Overall - Time to download the build took an hr. Time to upgrade took 2 mins.
