Hello, i can't transfer files from my S21 Ultra to my PC via USB cable. Samsung's cable is USB-C/USB-C but i don't have usb-c slot on my PC so i tried 3 different USB-C/USB-A cables (from Huawei and Xiaomi). At first the phone was connecting and disconnecting ever 2 seconds. I tried different slots on my pc, installed USD drivers for samsung that i downloaded from https://developer.samsung.com/android-usb-driver and tried some tricks from YouTube videos but nothing solved the problem. It's even worse now, PC doesn't even recognize the phone and only charges it without getting a prompt on the phone to chose "only charge or transfer files/photos etc". On device manager i got this:

Can you try a different computer? That is easiest way to troubleshoot. Maybe a friend's laptop? You already seem to have done the first correct step of trying different cables.
Another culprit is lint lodged in the USB-C port of the phone. You can pick it out with a toothpick or similar. The lint prevents the cable from properly and fully lodging into the port, no matter how many different cables you try.
If neither of these approaches fixes things, then perhaps you need to consider that you might have a broken USB port.

I tried connecting the phone to couple more PCs but same result....Then tried the same thing with a friend's Samsung S20 and it worked. I guess my S21 Ultra wants a original cable or change something in the settings, dont know....

Had the same issue some time back.
Was able to get mine working with fastboot & adb alongside an older 2019 Samsung driver.
Also after you installed that, go and uninstall all the devices under the "Universal Serial Buss Controller" and reboot your pc.

So 1st I have to uninstall all USB devices, then install old samsung drivers? Do I have to do anything else? Should I mess with fastboot and adb?
BTW can u link me those old drivers?

This is either bad cable or bad usb port.
Also remove the "SUMSUNG_Android" in other devices.
Now that the pc can recognise the device means drivers are working.

Guys,
need your help. Computers dont see my device even like usb device (i tried on several PCs). Normally windows flashes when see that usb device is connected, but in my case nothing is happenning. The same story with ActiveSync. PDA also just shows that battery is charging and doesnt show any signs that pc is connected. I've made several hard resets but it didnt help. Other functions work perfect. Please advice.

Yep, I did. I used different cables and tried on several computers. No success...
Go to start, settings, connections tab at the bottom. Click on USB to PC, uncheck advanced network funtionality. If it's uncheck try checking it. Also make sure that you have activesync version 4.5. If you are still unable to connect try disabling your windows firewall or norton, mcafee etc.
make sure Windows Mobile based device connectivity
is enabled in services.

I followed your advice and unchecked and checked it again. It didnt help. I also checked mcaffee, it doesnt conflict with activesync and before i didnt experience any problems with mcaffee and my pda connection. So the problem is not in win.firewall (disabled) and mcaffee. I use Activesync 4.5, build 5096. I think the problem is in my PDA, cause i tried to connect it to different computers and it wasnt recognized even as usb device as normally happens when you connect any usb device to pc.

if you dont see it, you may need to reinstall windows mobile device center
Did it ever connect?
Having the windows services started will not effect the device being detected as a USB device...it should at least show up in device manager.
If you have already tried this on several computers with several cables and have also tried unchecking the advanced USB functionality as described above, then I hate to say it but either you have no idea what you are doing (unlikely...as it's pretty simple to plug in a phone) or the phone is bad.
There are quite a few things that can stop the phone from Activesyncing properly....but not much that would prevent it from coming up in device manager.
You might want to try syncing over Bluetooth if your PC has it.

It worked perfect before, but recently ceased to communicate
You don't need that service... he is showing you a Vista machine and yours is XP.
And, as stated no running service is going to cause the device to not be seen via device manager, that is a low level hardware bus even before drivers for the device are installed (assuming the USB bus and host adapters work).
First work on getting it seen in device manager and then worry about how to get it to sync.
Check your USB port on the phone and see if the plastic core is straight across or curved down. If curved, the problem is likely the port itself.
If you have one of the HTC splitters that allows you to use headphones and charger simultaneously, try connecting via that.
i doubt its the usb port, im pretty positive its the service. My kaiser wont connect without the service under Vista. doesnt even show up as a generic device.

That is a service that is new to vista. XP doesn't have that service. But you are correct, mobile devices won't connect without it running in Vista.

Coming from a PC technician, test it with everything in McAfee disabled. Don't just assume there is no conflict because it doesn't report it. Although you said you tried it on several PC's so that would eliminate it as a suspect .
BTW, what changed when you noticed it was no longer connecting? New software, new ROM, etc... Is it still under warranty?
If there were no software changes preceding the problem, I'd go back and check the hardware possibilities. I can't think of anything that would disable the service unless you tried to run some type of system optimizer.
Hi,
This may help
> Start > Right click on My computer > Properties > Hardware (tab) > Device manager
It will open a list of devices , find USB controller ( Universal Serial Bus Controller )
Right click on it > Update ( or something like that ) . ( make sure your kaiser connected to pc through miniusb )
If it doesnt say anything about recognizing your kaiser. Try to delete (uninstall ) some ( or all ) of the items in USB controller ( above ) .
And then, update it again.
It worked for me most of the time when my pc dont recognize the device.
Goodluck

have you tried the i9000 drivers?
Have you tried different USB ports and do you have a different USB cable you can try?
Also, do you know how to get into Device Manager when the phone is plugged in to see if Windows even recognizes a device is plugged in? If so, check and see if anything looks wrong (like anything saying unrecognized device). Unplug the phone and see if that goes away. If it does, then that is your phone and you will manually have to install the drivers. PM me if you don't know how to do it and I'll walk you thru.
Where did you get the drivers for your phone and what phone do you have? This is the forum for the Captivate but it appears you are on Sprint which should mean you have a different phone. Regardless, the above will work for any device being plugged into a computer.

Sounds like you are using Captivate drivers for an Optimus phone. Each phone will have different drivers for the computer to recognize them properly.
Here is a link to the LG site to download the drivers. Give it a try and see if this fixes your problem. If not, we will go to a next step.

OK, I was confused when you said this was about your girlfriend's phone. No problem though.
First, remove any drivers for the phone that you have installed in Control Panel and either Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features. Unplug the phone from the computer. Next, go to the official Samsung website http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SGH-I897ZKAATT and download the drivers, not Kies. Install the drivers first, then plug your phone back in. That should work assuming you uninstalled the drivers from DesignGears.

Try another cable if you can. Try plugging into a different USB port. Try uninstall and reinstall the drivers. Try downloading a fresh set of drivers and reinstall. Try the official drivers at Samsung's website.
Have you tried to see if the phone is recognized in both download mode and it's regular running state? If it works in download mode, it might be a problem with the ROM that was flashed.
Good luck!!

Hope the cable works, however the length of the cable isn't going to be a big issue. The main one I use for flashing is something like 2ft long. I had to replace a cable where the phone and the cable wouldn't "lock" together when plugged in. Had a soft brick when I tried to use it.
Anyways, I hope the cable ends up being your issue so we can call this one solved.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and am having trouble getting my laptop to recognize the phone through the USB cable since I've installed Win 7 SP1. After Googling, it seems others are having the same issue after SP1 install. I tried uninstalling the SP1 update but I'm still having the issue. Likewise, on m wife's Win 7 Home Premium 64bit (no SP), I can connect the phone via USB just fine and see the files/folders through Explorer.
I've tried uninstalling the drivers on my laptop and rebooting, then reinstalling the drivers and sometimes I can get the laptop to see the F:/G: drives of the phone, but they will just hang Explorer when I try to browse the files. One time Windows even tried to perform a "disk check" to repair errors when I tried to access the internal SD card (F.
I've also noticed that my Launcher Pro (paid app) won't backup my home screens and setting anymore to the sdcard. It says "An error occurred while trying to create the backup. Please make sure the SD card is available." I'm on Cognition 4.1.1 ROM and these issues only seemed to start after I installed SP1.
Anyone have any ideas?

Strangely, I was just able to get access using the same cable and laptop that wasn't working previously. I connected the cable to a different USB port and it recognized the drive (albeit very slowly), then popped up a "disk scan" notice. I unchecked the "fix/repair" boxes and allowed it to scan -- which took about 10 minutes -- then it started working (no errors reported, btw). I'm wondering if recently I disconnected the cable without turning off sharing USB-mode first and got the internal SD card a bit wonky. Seems to have cleared up now. We'll see about the next time I want to connect it, though...

Ah, the joy of computers. The devices that are supposed to be the most logical and aren't. There is a good chance that the phone wasn't disconnected properly at one time. Glad you got it working.
Also, always good to plug in a USB device into a different port if it doesn't work the first time. The port you were first plugging into might not be getting the power needed to connect the phone properly.

I have noticed lately at times that when I plug in my USB-webcam, I get a notification that "this device will run faster when connected to a 2.0 USB port." But all my ports (according the Dell site for my laptop model) are 2.0. Considering what I paid for this laptop nearly four years ago compared to what I paid for my wife's new one at Christmas that is much more powerful, ya, computer joy. Maybe she won't notice if I switch them.
I got it working, but wow.. I don't know how this even makes sense... -_-
I have a USB extension coming from my desktop onto my desk so its easy for me to plug in stuff like USB cable of my phone and what not.. I've been using this extension for so long with my phone without problems, but turns out, when I plugged the phone USB cable straight to the desktop rather than the extension.. It works!?
I have no idea how or why.. But at least it works now :\
Okay, so this is my problem. I tried installing LG USB drivers on Sony Vaio NS230E running Windows 7 Ultimate to update my phone (some LG java phone) this seems to have started right after the installation, my USB mouse stopped working. Touchpad still works. I tried another mouse, same thing. Another USB port, same result. Rebooted, same thing. Uninstalled the new driver, nothing. I even restored the laptop to a point in 2 days ago but still it doesn't work!
I tried a USB flash disc on the device, works. Tried my phone (Nexus S) mount and reads. I had 2 mouses that the device already knew, when I connect them, the device says nothing, but the mouse light up. I tried connecting my wireless mouse to it, but on connection, it says USB device drivers not installed. Unrecognized device.
Please help, I really don't wanna 'wipe' and 'reflash' Windows...
UPDATE: The problem is fixed. I don't know why.
Ummmmm.....I'm no help, sorry.
Try opening the Device Manager and find any USB host controllers or any USB mouses or any USB devices listed that might have to do with a mouse or pointing device. right click on it, properties, and roll-back driver. You can also try updating the drivers. If that doesnt work just download the drivers from your laptop manufacturer's Website.

SO basically a day ago my mac and pc both cannot recognize my Nexus 6 through USB. i tried using adb and fastboot but the phone itself is not able to make it self available to either computer. I know its on the Phone side of things b/c it does not connect on any computer. Ive used multiple usb cables and computers. As of rn i can live with it since my ROM is running fine and im not having any problems with my internal storage. But soon i wont be wont be able to live with it, it is a necessary feature for me to be able to drag and drop files from my computer to my Nexus 6. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So boot into fastboot and connect it to your windows PC with a known working usb cable. What is the result of "fastboot devices"? Also does the device show up in device manager?

Well if you have ruled out cables, computers and USB ports, like it sounds that you have - it is most likely a USB port issue on your device (or something motherboard related.)

Check there is no obstruction on the port. Loose pins etc. But I would send it for repair to be honest.

Well I got a new nexus and T-Mobile worked a good deal out,I just had to pay for shipping
Hi all,
Dropped my phone and the phone stopped responding. I tried replacing the screen but this made no difference.
Since the phone was just not turning on at all (no sort of response), I tried to replace the charging port after (after the drop, the sim card tray was damaged so thought the issue might be around here).
After I replaced the charging port, I managed to get the notfication light flashing (with a power source) and now it is solid.
When I connect it to my PC, I hear the notification sound when a device has been connected but unable to view any files or see it show in my PC.
I feel like I'm close to getting the phone working but not quite there yet. I am mainly interested in just recovering the data.
Any help would be much appreciated.
In this case, you need a screen, either on the phone itself, or an external one, and a mouse to navigate the options, if you manage to get the screen to work, enable USB debugging, run adb devices, if your phone shows up as a device (reference screenshot:

), you can run adb pull /sdcard/ to copy all the files from it to your PC, but if it shows up as unauthorized (reference screenshot:
), you need to allow usb debugging on the phone, then run adb pull /sdcard/ to copy the data.
And remember for the sake of god NEVER use MTP if you're copying more than one small file at a time, as it is known to corrupt large files, or large quantities of files, if you do not want corruption use adb pull

Thank you for your reply - do you have any recommendations here? Specifically for xiaomi 9t pro? I read somewhere an MHL cable would not work
Dropped my phone and it stopped working. Replaced screen, still doesn't work. Replace charging port and notification light started blinking and turned solid though I don't see it anymore.
But the phone connects to the PC - I just can't access the phone. Using ADB I get a serial number followed by unrecgonised.
What can I use for this phone to get some sort of display, and something to control? Based in UK so any UK links would be appreciated.

The cable you got with the phone should work for this.

Well, unrecognized means ADB does not even know what type of device is that, that's not good.
Any dock for a macbook using USB-C should work, as for proper stuff:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Multiport-Adapter-Ethernet-Compatible-Grey
https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Aluminium-Delivery-Charging-Compatible-Space-Grey
These two should also work with it.

Sorry, not sure why I said unrecognised - I get unauthorised like you mentioned before. Will try these options, thank you.

Are you sure these work? I have another working 9T pro and cannot get any display. I'm using https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07PPGWQ15/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Well, there is no way to be sure if these will work, it's just a guess based on what standards the phone supports

Ok, so, you somehow need to authorize the PC for USB Debugging
