You need to be in the location where you successfully installed adb.
I suggest reading a bit more about it.

You only messed up my mind
I've done this before sweet->unlock bootloader->install TWRP->custom ROM but now somehow I am confused about the steps.
I will unlock another device tomorrow and plan to install vanilla: Lineage OS, Cherish OS, /e/ OS or Arrow OS. Now trying to get everything downloaded and ready. I never upgraded an MIUI or firmware on this phone. It is still MIUI 12.xx as it came from mi.com
Do I need some firmware ready?
How do I know what version I need or what version my phone has?
Also, this handset has an ln8000 charging board. How do I install a custom kernel? How do I know that I need one?
I never used custom kernels before as everything was ok on my Oneplus devices and Lineage default kernel.
Thanks.

Magisk is a must-have for me. Always rooted my devices. It's like... I do not own my own device if I am not an admin

So I'm trying to flash to Funtouch OS, I also installed the VIVO drivers, SDK drivers are also up to date. However, adb doesn't recognize the phone when in Fastboot. I guess it's a problem with the drivers but I can't get behind it.

In fastboot mode you need to use fastboot commands like "fastboot devices"
By the way there is an tool called "aft tool" to flash firmwares. Perhaps you can install Funtouch OS with this tool!

Looks like there are only a few phones this works on sadly not anything you've done. Some genius will eventually work it out no doubt
Hi,
did you try it directly via the AFT Flash tool?
Here you can find it: https://www.ytechb.com/vivo-flash-tool/
And there are also USB and flash Drivers....
No, I didn´t try this - will do it today - thank you very much!
With AFT Tool I get an Virus warning: Trojan:Win32/Tiggre!plock - so I can't try it.
Hi. Any update on this?
Hi everyone, I just get a Xiaomi Redmi 9 (lancelot, that is what I think) with MUIU 12 and now I have to wait 7 days to unlock the bootloader. It is a GREAT phone.
Now I have some questions:
Is there a TWRP recovery for MIUI 12? Where I can get it? Does it work well?.
I read about a vendor 12, "OSS system". What are these terms?.
Can I install GSI? Is easy to install?.
Any tips? Any good advice? Any telegram for this phone? dm me.
Thank you.

2. The OSS-vendor refers to a firmware developed by the open source community.
It is expected that the OSS-vendor will be supported for much longer than the stock-vendor.

4. I have no clue about telegram for this phone.
Thank you, now I know what is a OSS-vendor and if I understand well... I just need to flash a GSI.
But I do not see a TWRP thread in that section. Can you help me?
Okay.

Orangefox is better than twrp and is based of it. Basically the same with more features.
Also make sure your phone is Redmi 9 Lancelot because that recovery is for that.
I'm assuming that is your phone

I have the same problem
Are you on MIUI 13? My friend also has a problem with Mi Unlock detecting his phone after upgrading to MIUI 13. It seems like this is a soft lock. Try installing MIUI 12.5 if Xiaomi hasn't implemented an anti-rollback feature back to MediaTek.
I'm on MI 12.5
Have you tried the mt6768 USB drivers? They worked for me. But, I no longer have the driver installer. I got them from my friend with the SP Flash Tool.

Seems like the guy meant the fastboot before the 12.5 update with the bunny. And it seems like he just missed some drivers.

And yes, I had issue with driver too.

I use official unlock tool.
But I follow this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/resolved-mi-unlock-tool-cannot-detect-phone.3663139/post-73566526
The driver installation was quite tricky. I could never install it if that guy didn't post complete steps to follow.
Hi,

Give up? You haven't even try!
Sure that you are using the new version? The old one is installed globally, isn't it?
