This is my first android phone after using a Iphone for the past year.. I don't really care are about gps as I don't use it and as for lag its bearable to me. But the thing that seems to be grinding my gears is the default messenger app. Occasionally I would be texting a message to a friend and when I receive a reply, I would get a error message that says the android text messenger app has crashed and I am forced to close it.
It takes a reset or I have to wait like 5 or so minutes before the phone is back to normal.. I text more than talk so its a inconvenience when this happens. I just want to know if its a common occurrence or it might has something to do with the apps I have installed? I have no apps which modify my text in any way but I did disable the counter on when the when deletes old messages.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Hi all,
First, I did search and didn't spot an answer or similar thread (so I'll feel really silly when someone points me to it...)
I've got a stock VZW 3G Xoom and I'm using Google Voice almost exclusively for texting now. In fact, it works so well I gave my Nexus 1 to my father-in-law and switched to a basic phone. But, the only complaint/issue I have is that it's sometimes difficult or even impossible to access the inbox. I regularly find that if I'm in a text thread and hit the back button, to return to the inbox where all discussions are shown, it will often only refresh the screen and I remain in the individual thread. Sometimes, going "home" and then touching the GV icon will take me to the inbox but sometimes even this doesn't resolve the issue. And, today, I experienced something new - every time I hit back to get to the inbox, from within a thread, it deleted the previous text. In other words, each time I hit back the text message (whether sent or received) disappeared from the thread starting at the bottom and working up. My only fix here was to force stop it.
Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, have you found a solution to return you to the inbox?
Thanks for any help,
Ross
Mine does the same thing. While annoying, my inbox sometimes takes what seems like forever to refresh incoming messages.
I'm working with a wifi Xoom, 3.2.
Sorry, all, I had never experienced this before on my Nexus One so I thought it might be a Xoom or Honeycomb issue. But, I did some deeper (broader) digging and found that it's a known GV behavior. This explanation was helpful:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/etnha/google_voice_users_when_you_hit_your_back_button/
Basically, it seems that when I click on a notification bar text message notice I'm not in the full GV app. So, if what I read elsewhere is correct, if I view 10 text messages through the notification bar icon I'd have to hit the back button 10 times to get to the main app and the inbox. This would explain the erratic behavior I've seen, as sometimes I use the notification icon and sometimes I use the app shortcut. Not great design, but at least it doesn't appear to be a Xoom-specific issue.
What apk did you use to get it?
grab the apk from your android phone that gets it from the market
i have never experienced this issue
i am on wifi 3.2 rooted stock
I just got my Zenwatch 3 today. Everything is fine but using whatsapp is inconvenience... there is no dedicated app...
If I keep swiping in the home screen to right eventually I will reach a contact page, after selecting a person there is some options like make a call, send a sms, and "whatsapp". However the whatsapp action is not working, everytime I press that there is a loading circle appears for a few seconds, then saying unable to reach Google...
Receiving notification and replying a whatsapp message has no issue, but I just can't initiate whatsapp from the contact page... tried to start whatsapp in phone but not helping...
I tried to search for solution but seems no one has this issue.. can someone give some tips on this? Thanks.
I just checked it with my watch and can confirm the message. I can't remember if it worked when I first set up my ZenWatch. It's my first Wear Device and I just have it for three weeks, so I don't know if it should work in general.
When I choose that option on my watch it gives me speech recognition to write a message. I am not having any problems whatsoever. It just doesn't work too well if my phone is dozing.
After the latest update my messaging app became excruciatingly slow. Now, I know it is because I have alot of messages. My threads that have little text messages open up quickly, while my threads with 1000s of messages take literally a few seconds every time I open them. Erasing them is not an option. The old messaging app never had this problem.
Is there any way to fix this?
Hi, every time I get a Facebook message from a messenger, I get an alert from the Android system that this is a "floating" application. The alert also appears on my screen and everything appears to me on the alerts screen. No matter how many times I cancel it, it's not saved and I do not know what to do!
