hello ppl!
i was at the beachfront fireworks display in aberdeen last night and a made a short clip of the fireworks display!
i have to say though the quality both picture and audio is poor - settings were on 'L' for the larger video which is the best setting im sure.
is there anyway e.g. via registry or something that the audio sample rate can be upped from 8khz + and for the video 5fps to be upped aswell.
My N70 had better quality!
thanks!
lol yeah, video and pictures suck on the diamond, and i'm sure its the same on the pro. i can't believe how piss poor the quality is, especially the camera. whats the point of having a 3.2mp camera if you can't take a clear picture with it.

the main problem with the camera is the lack of xenon flash - without it the dirty lens cover on the back casing really hinders the quality, taking the back cover off gives some pretty decent pics but its a lot of hassle but its still fine for a random pic.
main thing for me is the video frame rate and audio quality. can it be ammended anyone??
New to this site so Hello
Seems to be several topics on Photo quality but very little on the video camera.
Personally i have no complaints about photo quality, seems a decent upgrade from my iPhone 4s but the video camera does seem kinda poor to me.
also going from iPhone to Android, ive noticed the lack of video camera apps the is within the Playstore
curious to know what others think
Not sure why you are having problems with your video camera but, Z1 is rated on of the best video camera on a smart phone...

thats 1 review. the reviews seem all over the place with this phone. mostly on photo tho. some say the camera is the best available (excluding the Nokia 1020) some say it isnt as good as a Galaxy s4.
Ive found the videos look grainy or faded in well lit areas. sometimes looks like the video is upscaled rather than true 1080p

im really impressed with the video quality and its really good meanwhile i tried most of the smartphones and believe me z1 is damn good in video recording...................
i think the video quality is pretty good on the z1, obviously the king of video recording is the galaxy note 3 with its 4k video capability(Sony take a note here and enable this on our phones damn you). Its not just 1 site which has given the z1 a pretty good video recording score (gsmarena, tech radar, engadget and more). In optimum lighting conditions the quality of the videos are pretty good better than the iphone 5s never mind a 4s, one thing that the z1 does suffer from is when you record in low light, the quality of videos and photos begin to degrade, would have been nice to see some sort of OIS to combat this, but overall i find the z1 a very capable shooter.
shut the steady shot ... and try again thx
Hi,
I currently have a Galaxy S2 and am looking to upgrade.
The video camera is a prime reason for the upgrade. Ideally I want something that can record HDR video with optical image stabilisation. Lots of my video is taken handheld in low(ish), high contrast light so I figure both of these features are important. I was hoping to see HDR + OIS in the HTC One M8 announcement, but that didn't happen.
I'd be interested to know a couple of things:
1. How good is the HDR video recording feature? I've struggled to see many reviews/opinions.
2. How good is the OIS?
3. If you were about to upgrade now and had video as a priority, would you think about the HTC One?
I don't know of any other phones that have both HDR video and OIS. My alternative would be to get another camera with OIS - I think on balance this is more important than HDR video. I suppose I could also get HDR video and have either in-phone software stabalisation, or use a PC application to give me the stabalisation.
Cost isn't a massive factor, but I don't see a real "value proposition" I'm thinking of going for a Nexus 5 or LG G2. Although video is important, obviously having a nice fast phone that will last is also appealing, so I've not totally written off the idea a current gen phone I can get in the next month or so.
Any advice on models would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm far from a video recording expert, but i have used my One for over a year and recorded my first video last week.
It was a stand-up comedian, so it was a hard motive.
Everything around the man on stage was black and with a bright spotlight on the performer.
Started recording with standard setting, and it was hard to find focus when everthing was black or superbright.
Then I switched to HDR recording and got a lot better video with stable focus, with the downside that the black background was more grey. But what the heck, it was better and I can see my motive
What impressed med most was the audio quality of the recordings, really awesome!
Hope this helps you somehow.
Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the Google Pixel 2 come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I am particularly interested in low-light videos of both devices and the audio quality. From a few samples i could check on YouTube i suspect problems with the noise suppression at least on the XL. Trying to assemble examples in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/77mmk1/pixel_2_xl_video_samples_low_light_and_audio/
Soo.. get your samples out to the world!

Absolutely amazing video quality. Its so fast and the auto focus is perfect in my opinion.

Here is a quick video on how I shoot really good low light video. https://youtu.be/YnBjJeMJ6Po
See if this helps.
Overall the video quality of the Pixel 2 is mind blowing I think. For a phone this thing is incredible. Ive been vlogging on this thing and really impressed with the quality.

I love this camera so much. New video messing around with bokeh https://youtu.be/4u0pa3rBAyI
I made this video with my Pixel 2. Im pretty satisfied with the quality considering the low light but the sound could be a bit better. But it was really loud there. So maybe that was the issue.

Yeah I would love to see 60 or 120 fps but I cant seem to get any response from the app developer.

Yes. Cinema 4k for me is the best. Open camera is also good but has no noise reduction. Cinema 4k has really good noise reduction. Filmic pro isnt worth it for me. The quality is just mush compared to what you get on Cinema 4k no matter what color profile or bitrate you use.

It would help to see some of your work that I could take a look at. I use premiere pro. It looks scary but its really not that difficult once you watch a few tutorials. The sequence settings and export settings are scary when you first try it out but you learn a lot over time when you use it. I just cannot recomend any free or super cheap softwares. I heard some of them were good but i havent tried.

Thank you very much It was an awesome trip too. I record at 150mbps for BRoll and sometimes 100 for talking shots if I need a longer video. Here is a video all about my settings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZI86VsGDyY&t=1s

Thank you for the continued advice.
Vietnam looks amazing def on my list
I love this, auto focus works good.
Its quality too.
I recently test my new Pixel 2 , with Filmic pro, and the OIS works excellent, the zoom is very soft and accurate, also works the mic gain slider, and all the features of the app.
For record videos in a concert, Filmic pro is the best, you can monitor the mic gain, and control it with the slider.
Video of Pixel 2, is a great upgrade from Nexus 6p.
Hi,
I noticed the bit rate in video recording on the S21 ultra is significantly lower than the competition's and I think this is why the video doesn't look as sharp (because the photos are better than that of the same competitors). Is there anyway to make it record at higher bit rate to get properly good results?
It seems like Samsung artificially decreases the quality of the video for some unknown reason. Do you think there is a chance Samsung will fix it in future update?
Thanks
yes you should use 3rd party software like FilmicPro & mcpro24fps
I will give it a try, but usually the HDR capabilities of 3rd party apps are not as good, as well as stabilization.
Filmic Pro also still doesn't support 10bit or [email protected]
Is there a way to get rid of the oversharpened look of videos in the main app?
it supports both , you cant control anything in stock apps

Since the last 1 or 2 updates it now supports both.
Stabilization seems quite bad, though. Edit: This due to the stabilization being turned off, probably....
The FilmicPro is really underwhelming in low light:

Why does filmic fail to impress you? It is significantly better if you look at it from a more experienced perspective. Original is overbrightenned and denoised to a hurtful point so it looks blurry almost.
The filmic one is more realistic and much sharper. The noise is easy to remove in post.
Plus filmic has plenty of quality and denoise settings which could be turned on and off and adjusted. We don't know what the Korean guy in the video has for his settings in Filmic.
it supports only OIS though which makes 4k60 as shaky as it was on Mi 8 back in the day, so you need gimbal or something of sorts, + one thing it doesn't sort is 2x less detail compared to 4k30, i get higher detail with Filmic on 4k60 with S20 Ultra with a generation older sensor than what i get with S21 Ultra so i avoid using 4k60 completely on that phone
