Hello guys
I had previously unlocked the bootloader with MI Unlock (the official way), so I lost the ability to receive OTA updates.
So I tried to relock the bootloader with MiFlashTool in order to be able to receive these updates again, but after 7 minutes, the flashing process ended with an error (Flash Timeout), then my device got stuck in fastboot mode, so I relocked it again by clicking the .bat file (cleanall_lock) inside the ROM itself.
This time everything worked fine and the device booted up successfully, but I still can't receive OTA updates!.
My device is Sweet global
Flashed ROM: 13.0.16.0.SKFMIXM
Update available: 13.0.18.0.SKFMIXM
I really want to receive updates OTA
Anyone can help please?

It should not have been closed, the update is not released at the same time, it will come sooner or later. Patience.

Hello,
Let me start by just saying that I'm very new to the whole rooting and android development scene and I'm.sorry in advance if this question is noobish. Anyway I have an at&t HTC one m7 that I unlocked the bootloader on, flashed twrp and rooted. The device was working fine no issues ,recently there was an ota update that my brother got for his all stock m7. So I flashed an img of the stock recovery and relocked the bootloader in hopes of having the update install. I know it would remove my root access but I didn't mind that .
Anyway now my device is telling me there is no more ota updates available.
This is odd because I tried to do the update before changing anything back a nd it got stuck when twrp launched .so there is an update available.
Is this normal or is something wrong? thanks!
Edit, i cant words
HI. Devs Since the last update (6.5.35) I'm not getting any ota update and I tried the manual way of updating process. It doesn't update . I unrooted my zenfone 4 and I'm on pure stock rom.

Please some one tell me where an I going wrong? What could cause my phone not update I ever did a factory reset before and after . but I'm in no luck . please help me figure of this problem whats causing my phone not get update. Please help me.

if you ever unlocked bootloader you will not get the update and you will not be able to update manually. even if you lock the bootloader you will never get OTA updates ever again.
but if you want to update you can by doing this.
first flash .raw full ROM (I cant post link to download it but if you Google you might get it). keep that file in your external SD then go to droidboot and do a factory reset from there go back to droidboot and select SD download your phone will automatically flash stock ROM and your phones bootloader will get locked.
then you can update manually.

unrooting and locking the bootloader will not help. if you ever unlocked bootloader you phone get banned from getting OTA update.
the only safe way to update now is to flash .raw ROM and then update by full ROM from Asus.com
Flash raw file first and then Download and update by full zip file.... update to 7.4.4 L its the best
Sent from my ASUS_T00I using XDA Free mobile app
if u not getting update from ota
going to asus.com and down load zip file put it in phone and update ( make sure ur bootloader is locked)
Bootloader unlocked. Phone rooted. P10 Vtr-L09. I no longer want root and have installed stock recovery but I'm having issues updating. Soon as the phone reboots after update to install package it gets to 5% and then update fails. I'm not sure if it's because the bootloader is unlocked or what but I could really use some help.
edit:
after factory reset, i attempt to update with ota that my phone received appears the update was successful.
Sounds like it's verification failed by Huawei's servers, which version of firmware are you on currently?

Hi,
Can someone concisely give the most up to date instructions on how to root the P20 Pro
Confused because some people talk about debranding first? Is this necessary if you, like me, just have a generic non-network branded phone?
Also.. Does rooting require twrp?
A bit unclear on if I should use the offical or unofficial twrp methods.
And if so does twrp prevent OTA updates? I was lead to believe that any OTA updates would simply wipe any root and you just have to go through the steps again, but would twrp prevent an OTA update in the first place?
What are the best instructions to root the P20 Pro to keep the OTA updates going (even if you need to reroot after each update).
Thanks heaps in getting through the confusion!
Here you have manual to root in simple 4 steps. You need adb and fastboot on your computer, bootloader unlock code and Magisk from link in post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...de-how-to-root-debrand-remove-retail-t3788326
Does any of the steps,
1/ unlocking the bootloader
2/ debranding
3/ installing TWRP
3/ rooting
Wipe the device?.. I'm assuming yes?
Also. What's the point of debranding?..
I think I'm on a generic P20 Pro that wasn't bought from a carrier - so is that step necessary for me.
Thanks heaps again for the advice - coming over from the Samsung world and maybe I'm so used to the rooting methods there
Also do any of those steps prevent OTA updates?
Or is there somehow to still use OTA updates but simply need to reapply root on every occasion there is ah update?

Unlocking the bootloader will wipe your device. The other steps won't.
You need to have TWRP installed in order to be able to flash Magisk (for Root), and no you don't have to rebrand if you don't want to. You'll still be able to receive and download OTAs but if TWRP remains installed on your phone it won't be able to install unless you change back to the stock recovery. However there is methods to update with TWRP and you'll be able to get and install updates quicker than waiting for them to be pushed to you phone. That's the main reason people rebrand because generic European models are getting updates the fastest.
What's your device model and current firmware version from 'About Phone' in settings?
..

Thanks heaps for the advice - makes sense now!
I'm using the model CLT-L29 on C636 which I think is the Asia Pacific model.. And incidentally just received a OTA upgrade to the 128 firmware
.. So in order to receive OTA updates you simply have to change back to the stock recovery after using TWRP to install magisk and root?
But I imagine every time the OTA update occurs it wipes root?.. Which would mean reinstalling TWRP to regain root and doing the whole process again every time?

Yep you got it in one lol
The other option so that you don't have to flash TWRP then back to stock recovery each time is when you receive an OTA is download the same firmware (Full-OTA version) from Firmware Finder - you would just need the update.zip - then using Huawei update extractor you can extract the ramdisk.img Then copy the ramdisk.img to your phone, use Magisk manager to patch it then copy it back to your PC and flash it via fastboot. But I think this is more work than flashing between TWRP & stock recoveries haha
Hi guys!
I have a simple question... I have a P10 VTR-L09 rebranded to VTR-L29... After a few month with EMUI i have tested LineageOS from Openkirin.net, but the ROM has to many bugs for me so i get back to EMUI.
Everything worked fine, now i have 8.0.0.374 (C432) on my device, but my bootloader is still UNLOCKED!
Will i receive OTA Updates in the future because i am on StockROM back again or is OTA not working with an unlocked bootloader?
Thx a lot!
OTA shouldn't be a problem with unlocked bootloader WITHOUT root. If you rooted your phone it's not possible to update via OTA.
In fact, you're not able to complete lock the bootloader on Oreo again.
Ok, i have no root, only bootloader unlock, so i will see the next weeks if it works... If not, i have to flash updates via TWRP...

Yes, you need to be very patient. Huawei update policy is a miracle, no know really knows when they release updates in which region, there are even different release times for the same model and region
If OTA doesn't work, you can try my guide, tutorial #3 (only works when you got the OTA update)
Yes i know... Before P10 i used some Xiaomi Phones and the community and update policy is awesome! But if you know a little bit of bootloader and TWRP you should be able to handle the most phones i think...
Thx a lot for your help!

If i unlocked the bootloader and rooted with magisk, then used the remove root option in magisk ,would ota work again?
