install this through recovery from "apply update" use adb on pc or just flash rom without recovery

Do not forget you need to be on last global A11 firmware (12.5.16.0.RKLMIXM) to install it.

I have 13.0.7.0 (SKLEUXM) installed, what do I need (12.5.16.0.RKLMIXM)? I don't know if there is any point in PE, if NFS works, fast charging, if it works stably, how the battery behaves and other functions. I have no experience with installing custom firmware, so I don't know if I should install PE or it's better to stay with MIUI

I've only been able to install riceDroid.

I installed MIUI 12.5.16.0.RKLMIXM than flashed PE recovery and installed ROM. NFC works but my bank app refuses to use it for payments (can't test gpay because it not working with my cards). Fast charging works. Battery consumption somewhat similar to MIUI 12.5. Kdeconnect's find phone module crashes when attempting to read ringtone2 prop, but everything else works normally.

For some weird and wonderful reason, I cannot send text messages. I can receive them but not send them, no idea why. I just get 'cannot send error 0'
BUT I can send message via the other SIM, and I can send from another phone, so I'm kinda baffled. It's some weird combo of PE and my provider??

Xiaomi MI5 pop-up adds

I hope I can get some help here. Today I started getting add pop-ups on my Xiaomi MI5 that's 3 days old. I installed a lot of applications, but they have all been previously installed on my HTC Desire 500 and my Nexus 7 and I never had any issues. The adds pop up after I unlock the screen, sometimes it's just a Home screen that's not responding (until I hit the Back button), sometimes it's a full add. Adds vary a lot and change from Pokemon training spam to Anti-spyware apps. On some adds it said it's sponsored by "StartApp". On one add there was an information button, so I got some message from "com.aqplay.mediation" about permission settings (nothing really relevant, couldn't uncheck anything anyways).
After scanning the phone with Avast, MBAM and Addons Detector, I got nothing. I also went through a crapload of forums looking for answers, tried to uninstall some apps that I installed today, but nothing helped.
In the end I noticed that the built-in application "File Manager" keeps ending up in my Recent Applications list, even though I never opened it. So I tried to stop and uninstall it, but with no luck. There is a process that looks suspicious so I would like to ask anyone to check if they have the same process on their device.
Under Settings - Installed apps - Running - File Manager there is a Service (second from the top) called "zdrhhriggx". Can anyone verify they have the same Service running?
Since it's a built in app, I can't Disable or Uninstall File Manager to be 100% sure, but so far I have found a workaround.
In the Security application I went to Data Usage settings - Data usage stats - System apps - File Manager and I disabled it's Mobile and Background data access. I am unable to turn off the WLAN setting for it though. But so far, no adds in the last 30mins.
If anyone has a good permanent solution to this problem (I know I can do a factory reset, but let's make that the last option) I'd be forever grateful.
Additional info:

Fake ROM
I believe you are correct, stupid of me not to check the ROM version. Thank you very much.
You are using Vendor Rom maybe . Unlock your bootloader and flash Official Rom . If you are using root . Install adaway to make some ads dissapear .
Same issue with ads and massive wlan battery drain (vendor rom from xiaomi.eu). unlocked it, flash the official and worked like a charm.

Yup, same here with the WLAN battery drain. But the adds stopped for some reason the last 2 days. I'm planning on flashing it, just not sure which procedure to follow. Can you please tell me if you had to Unlock the device through the MIUI website request?
I've found this thread to be helpful: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/xiaomi-eu-7-8-13-0-maacndb-t3412638
I'm just not clear on the difference between flashing with the fastboot update (MIUI flashing tool) or using Mi PC Suite with Full ROM?
Would you be so kind as to provide more precise steps on what you did to unlock and flash it?

hence i downloaded the Global ROM from Miui for 5s - 8.0.3.0 MAGMIDI "normally". now while trying this, it says "i am updating to a older version & all data will be lost". is it possible to really have a newer version on phone which isnt there in MIUI website?

Thank you Guojaun for your timely help.
i successfully flashed to GLOBAL ROM.
while i was doing this, there was no folder called "Downloaded_rom" for the ROM to put, i created a folder & put the ROM there. then flashing will go through normally. no need of Fastboot or anything.
Now no ads or any sort of issues

Stable daily driver treble roms?

Hello everybody,
I was just wondering if there's any daily driver Treble roms out there that you would suggest, Thanks ?
I'm using phhtreble AOSP 9.0 v111 (with gapps) on top of Xiaomi.eu 9.1.24 and it's working flawlessly. Only thing I can't test is the screen cast thing, since I don't have an enabled tv and VoLTE since my carrier doesn't use it. Also GCam crashes when trying to use slow mo. One last thing, I'd recommend using Magisk Canary 18.2 since that works. Cheers.

How did you flash MIUI 9.1.24. What I mean did you remove Firmware Update folder from the ZIP or leave it be? I am currently on MIUI 8.7.5 and affraid to get Anti Rollback protection. So I remove this Firmware Update just in case, but after flashing such ZIP my MI8SE doesn't want to boot. It stucks on MI Unlocked logo, it is not even a bootloop.

I think Xiaomi.eu roms shouldn't trigger anti rollback anyway. If you want to be safe flash a China Pie rom, then Xiaomi.eu 9.1.24 then whatever. I think I did china 9.1.3, eu 9.1.24 and PE 190111, but I'm not sure
@guglicap
Thanks for all the tips. Before I had MIUI EU 8.7.5 as a base. I could run most treble GSI, but with some problems and issues (like phone reboot after trying to make call or a few reboots before the system finally started). With MIUI EU 9.1.24 as a base they seems to run much better. I will try to test more features soon.
A few remarks from myself for anyone who wants to try treble GSI:
1. Flash full MIUI EU zip, do not remove Firmware Update folder as I tried before. Firmware Update contains some necessary files to be flash to run latest builds. Regarding the Anti Rollback protection... I had a FALSE response for fastboot getvar anti on MIUI EU 8.7.5, and after MIUI EU 9.1.24 I have anti:1... so it is still safe.
2. Use MIUI 9.1.24 (xiaomi.eu_multi_MI8SE_9.1.24_v10-9) as a base, not the newer builds, as they did not work for me. Also use TWRP 1227 for this build.
3. You can also use MIUI stable 10.2.2 (xiaomi.eu_multi_MI8SE_V10.2.2.0.PEBCNXM_v10-9), but this build works with TWRP 1217.
4. The precedure to run GSI is as below:
a) preferably clean: System, Data, Cache, Dalvik-Cache
b) flash MIUI EU as above, make sure it boots
c) flash treble GSI as System Image (there is many available, I prefer Resurrection Remix, LiquidRemix, HavocOS, AEX, AOISP... I find them the most customizable)
d) clean Cache, Dalvik-Cache, Data (or format Data as an option)
e) disable dm-verity in TWRP => Advanced => RM-dm-verity (very important, as most of the GSI will not run without this step)
What I still need to figure out is:
- encryption (that is a must have for me, so far with no luck on MIUI nor on treble GSI ROMs using the system build in option)
- camera (either working MIUI Camera or GCam, as the AOSP cameras are really bad)

About camera, this works well for me https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2b_plus3.apk
you need to flash a Magisk module for the fix which is in another thread. Even slow mo works.
Also, I never had a problem with dm-verity, could you elaborate on that? I'm curious now.

phhtreble AOSP 9.0 v111 ROM worked out-of-the-box, with dm-verity untouched. But for many other ROMs I got bootloop. You need to disable dm-verity to make those ROMs to boot properly.
phhtreble v111 with magisk on top of miui pro seems to work without any problem.
The only bug i experience is that google camera crashes when entering slow-mo mode. Also, notification light works only for charging battery.
Geekbench 4 shows the same results as on miui, battery life seems pretty solid.
Currently using it as daily driver, no problems so far.

Hi, apparently it doesn't.
So, after i've spent few days with phhtreble v111, i've noticed the following bugs:
-Bluetooth call doesn't work (the phone rings, music stops playing, but the call runs through the phone speaker)
-Double tap to wake doesn't work
-LED lights up only when charging (Lightflow and other apps designed to take control over it are unable to do it)
-Front facing flash is dead
-Slow motion crashes camera app.
In rest, everything else seem to work fine, even the notch cutout.
Battery and performance are rock solid, substratum is fully compatible.
For camera, i use BSG's Google Camera, which excepting front flash and slow-motion, works like a charm.
Since those bugs are not critical or annoying, at least for me, i currently recommend it as a daily driver.

[Help] [New] Miui 10 to Miui11

Hi all.
I've just bought this device. When I first launched it, it was on miui9, i updated to miui 10 stable 10.0.3.0 (8.1 Android) via ota. Then, I saw that I could also upgrade to miui 11. However, I've read that battery is worse than Miui 10 so I don't know If I should install it.
I've unlocked the recovery because I want to try some custom roms but I'm a bit scared of the anti-rollback.
Could you please tell me what should I do?
Thanks all.
Before you do anything you need to figure out which device you own. You bought it and you already unlocked the bootloader? That generally takes 360 hours, are you sure it wasn't already unlocked? If it was unlocked you probably have a Chinese device, and in that case be extremely careful about not relocking the bootloader. if the phone is not bound to your account ( linked to you personally) then you could brick it and have no recourse.
if you unlocked it yourself and you have a locked device , then don't worry about anti-rollback. So far it has not been implemented. Next, you heard wrong about Miui 11, its battery is equally as good. Although the best version of Miui and currently the most stable Android 10 overall is Xiaomi.EU which is a custom rom based on the china beta but globalised, with Google services.
Again do your homework, avoid extremely old posts that are no longer relevant. Never attempting upgrading your screen refresh and never flash someone else's persist image and you will be good. This community has tons of infor...read a lot and take your own notes.

Hi Thanks for your reply.
My device is global version (not just global ROM, I do know the difference)
I am unlocked the bootloader using the Xiaomi official tool, i had to activate the developer tools on the device and check the bootloader status and the button which was there ( U know what I mean). Besides, when I turn on the device it says unlocked.
I've read that miui 11 has kinda bad sot because of miui and/or the bug with WhatsApp. So I don't know if I have to update via ota and If I do that I don't know if I will have any problems while trying to install a custom ROM.
I've had a Xiaomi before so I know that I shouldn't install strange zips.
Thank you

Yes, the last build of Xiaomi.EU had worse SOT than usual ( about 5 hours. However, the issue was only with one of the weekly builds) I personally resolved that issue for myself by flashing the kernel from the previous build. Also, Xiaomi.EU is updated every Thursday so later today there will be a new build that will very likely resolve the issue. On the other hand the stable builds do not have an issue with SOT. At least not in my experience. I have averaged around 8 to 9 hours SOT.
I don't use Whatsapp, so I can't help you with that.
Since you were previously on stock you will need to backup your data, if you are still using stock, backup to MiCloud as well. This way if you use a Miui based rom you can quickly restored most of your data and partial settings. You will also need to format use storage (type yes, reboot to recovery)

Personally I use the TWRP that I posted here : I talked to a few friends / android developers on other devices and several of them believe that this a TWRP issue.
I have not had any more of these issues since using this TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80952013&postcount=121
If using AOSP, you should use the official version.
The best Gcam ( I Think is by Sanity )
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-san1ty/
FYI the builds made for the Poco F1 and Razer 2 are also compatible.

No problem.
After installing TWRP, you must initially install Root and then reboot to recovery.
Often you will see a message asking if you want to install the TWRP manager, click those boxes and then proceed to rebooting to recovery.
If you are using the full stock Rom, you must have root, so anytime that you flash the official Global stable rom, or an update, flash root again...unless you see via the Recovery terminal that Root maintained it's persistence.

Question Official MUII 12.5 Global. Any link and tutorial to flash CN versions?

Hi! I buyed a CN version of Mi 11. Is there any link with the official Global rom for Mi 11 that was rleased today ? Any tutorial?
Thanks!
As far as I know, the Mi 11 Global version won't be available before February 25th (at least here in Europe), so I doubt the global ROM is available yet. Most people recommend the xiaomi.eu ROM over the global ROM because it has some extra features and so on.
I recommend you use Xiaomi.eu's ROM, there's a thread explaining how to do it here. Also, don't forget to unlock your bootloader - you need to wait 7 days before it can be unlocked, so if you start the process today, you'll be able to flash custom ROMs in a week.

Installation ok for me. Like u i was on xiaomi.eu lastest. there is a smalll error : This error is caused because the tool verifies if the device’s bootloader has been locked or not. Since you used the ‘clean all’ or ‘save user data’ option, the bootloader is not locked and the error is shown. This is a problem with the tool itself and is nothing to be worried about since the verification takes place after the flash is fully complete.

You don't mind if I abuse you since you the first known to successfully flash the global rom?
Therefore, my bunch of questions are:
1. Did you use the fastboot version of rom (unzipped tgz)?
2. You did dirty flash form eu rom or did you clear data before flash?
3. You don't have any modem issue, all mobile bands and both wifi (2.4 and 5)?
4. Like first impression: do you still experience massive battery consumption?
5. What are major differences between eu and global?
6. Is the rom smooth and responsive or you experience any malfunctions so far?
7. Google Pay works? If you don't use it, could you be so kind and install safety net tester and report the results?
8. Could you still use phone calls recorder?
Thank you for your patient and contribution.
Yes of course
1. fastboot version
2.Form xiaomi.eu rebooting in faastboot mod and flashing fastboot version with mi flash with clean all option.
3. No mobile or wifi issues
4. all gms are installed ( google phone dialer and sms )
Sorry bro fresh installation i cant say more im at work

I don't want to install the xiaomi.eu because of the OTA updates and more. I want to flash the official global version of miui.
For this official global rom I still need to unlock the bootloader or can I flash over the chinese version? Sorry for the nob question. I'm new to Xiaomi phones.

Just as a warning - if you decide to flash the official ROM, DO NOT RE-LOCK YOUR BOOT LOADER.
See this post.

Are you talking about this link: https://c.mi.com/thread-3581378-1-0.html
If you are, the download link provided in the above url does not work and it is the same link I mentioned earlier.

Thank you for your patient and contribution.

hello I have my mi 11 on the global rom for 1 week
I flashed my phone with the fastboot rom (adb) and everything went well (if the phone restarts in fastboot mode, force the boot in recovery mode and does a data factory reset whip)
google pay works fine for me
my phone works without problem (no slowdown, no problem with the wifi connection on the phone, all Google services work perfectly)
after the rest has already been said

So, first i have to install xiaomi.eu-rom? Is that the right order?

Which ROM ???

I have a Redmi Note 9 running MIUI 12.5 .4 Global on Android 11.
Some time back Miui removed call recording facilities, which was annoying, but for some time now an update (not sure which one) has caused intermittent problems with the proximity sensor, which is even more annoying.
It has been suggested that I re-flash the ROM, but if I am going to do that I wonder if anyone can tell me which ROM I could use as an alternative that will have the MI Phone app in it so I can use call recording again.
Anyone??

What is the code name of your phone and what rom currently(full name).
Example:Lime/Gauguin/Joyeuse/merlin etc..
V12.5.3.0.RJOMIXM
In About Phone it simply says Redmi Note 9, but I think it is Merlin.
V12.5.4(RJOMIXM)

So initially you had the Miui dialer and after an update the google dialer?
You can flash an older stock rom or Indonesian stock rom**(**any, all have the call recorder).
For that you must unlock the bootloader https://en.miui.com/unlock/index.html
then use this tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/flash-tool-guide-use-xiaomi-flash-tool.4262425/
I had a Redmi 9A before, and it had the MIUI dialer which was swapped to the Google one on an update. I broke the phone so bought the Redmi Note 9 which already had the Google Dialer, so I used Magisk to install the 'Call Recorder' but an update to the ROM broke that.

reuse magisk or see my post above without root.
Thanks.
Sorry to come back again - but I wonder if you could clarify for me -
There are two types of ROM available for download:
Fastboot - which does not interfere with programs and data
Recovery - which has various versions, one which preserve data and programs through to one which wipes everything. (https://c.mi.com/thread-2002748-1-0.html)
I am not sure which of these, if any, would be best suited to a phone where the new ROM is a different regional ROM already installed.
Can you advise?

I have not flashed any yet.
I have the Global ROM installed at present.
Using the 'Recovery' method seems the simplest - flashing from the SD card - but I don't know if this method will work and flash an Indonesian or Indian ROM over a 'Global' one.
Or is the only way to change to a different regional ROM to use the flash tool and the file 'flash_all_except_storage.bat ' to wipe everything and start again installing programs etc.

Only indonesian rom have call recorder.
Use miflash use flash_all.bat,and your phone will be reset (better to start again)Fastboot rom.
Do a backup with Micloud and/or Miphone assistant.
Thanks again.
