Question Sensors battery drain when sleep tracking - ASUS ZenFone 8

So it seems that I have sensor issue with my phone. Especially over night when using Sleep as Android. It can easly it up 30-40% of battery in night. I checked it with better battery stats, and it seems that significant motion detector(sns_smd) and proximity sensor and accelerometer are using a lot of my battery. Anyone had problem like this? I am wondering if this can be software issue and if it makes any sense to try any other OS/software. I think I have this issue on A12 all the time, even did factory reset, installed kernel, etc, didn't help it. I think on A11 it wasn't happening, didn't try A13 yet. Any idea if other custom OS can fix this? Or maybe this is hardware issue?

Check some device info app how much is your phone discharging(in mA) in idle and during app running. In idle it should by ~100-200mA.
I don't think sensors are problem as they usually consume almost nothing.
You can use apps like 3C CPU manager for disabling CPU cores and minimize it's frequencies over night when Sleep app is running....it should help decrease battery draining.

Actually, I am using my mi band - and it seems that issue here is this, like when bluetooth is enabled and anything is connected there is huge battery drain. Testing now for one day with bluetooth off and I got 2h SOT and around 1h socials and just 44% battery used, so issue is there for sure. With bluetooth and my mi band connected I would get already 70-80% battery used.

[Question]Display drains Battery after flashing XXJPK for days

Hi experts here,
I am new i9000 user coming from G2.
I flashed XXJPK for days, found that my battery drops very fast.
I stop all data access at night and the battery still drops...
I found that the 'Display' uses > 80% !! (even when I slept for 8 hours)
Attached is the screen cap of my battery stats..
Do anyone has the same issue?
This is Android Development, not Questions & Answers! Please post in the right sections!
What have you installed after JPK? Task killer? Lag fix?
Mine is not doing that. I did a hard-reset yesterday, installed my apps (no task killer, no root, no lag fix) and disabled everything (WiFi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G, autosync). Battery did not drop even 1% in 6 hours.
Display should not take any battery if it's off. Maybe you have something that awakes the phone constantly. Check autorefresh on weather, e-mail, twitter, news feeds... I usally have that disabled or set to 8 hours minimum.
got the same problem here.. i do got the docrom (custom rom) ,auto killer installed and lagfix (OCLF v2+) it goes from 100% to about 60% in 9 houres.. without doing a thing.. on top of that i got juicedefender ultimate installed.. but it doesnt seem to help at all..
The problem is why the 'Display' uses > 80% while I off the screen for hours?
Got the same problem here. I just reverted back to jm8 (eclair 2.1) with takayuma Rom.. I think all froyo versions have battery draining issue
I think, you guys must make this and maybe fix battery issue:
Refreshing battery stats after Odin or flashing (important)
or me personal, for my Galaxy very helpfull was this HTC Desire methode:
[HOW TO] Calibrate Desire Battery

I'm having exactly same problem with you. My brightness is 75% even in sleep mode and it drains the battery. I guess thats the main culprit to solve my battery draining issue. I wonder why it happens to certain people, because some users only have 48% for brightness and their battery can last more than a day
** apparently using Eclair 2.1 doesn't solve the issue as my brightness is still 70% ... I've tried the batterystats.bin fix and same thing happens. Damn !

It's true. JM8 and the battery fix doesn't help.
But I found that when I turn my connection from 3G mode to Wifi mode, my battery drops only 10% overnight.
I think there is some problem in the 3G connection.
Do you think this is kernel related?
One way to keep the drain down is getting a black theme such as the Transparent theme and setting a black background. Because of the AMOLED screen black is basically 'pixel off'. It helps just a bit.
I have similar experiences with WiFi vs. 3G, 3G drains battery awfully fast whereas WiFi seems to be consuming significantly less power.

Bad battery after update

Is anyone else having bad battery life after the update? Cell Standby and Phone Idle used to draw most of the power before the update, now they're low on the list however Android OS is eating all the juice now. Android OS gets up to almost 70% usage overnight and the battery drains a good 30% or more just sitting idle for 6 hours.
I installed a program called watch dog and it's telling me that "Base System" seems to be the culprit with lots of CPU use, particularly when the phone is idle. I've tried a variety of things like uninstalling recent apps I downloaded, disabling the 4G and 3G radios, trying airplane mode, changing settings, etc. and nothing has made a difference. Really want to avoid trying resetting to factory default.
Have you tried recalibrating the battery or tried bump charging?

Since I use my nav dock in my truck to stream Pandora over my stereo, it gets charged several times a day; however, Android OS is now my big drain as well, where it used to be idle or screen using the most. Since unplugging exactly two hours ago, it has drained down to 70% on the stock battery. (I only use my extended battery when I will be away from a charger for a long time. Makes the phone too thick for my pocket to be comfortable.)
On a seperate note, Google Voice now hangs my screen as well when listening to voicemail. Hey, at least I don't get the random reboots and power ups... :what:

I doubt calibrating will fix the issue because I don't think that's the problem. A system process appears to be hanging and causing the CPU to run constantly. Maybe a bad update install?
Either way I used to get much better battery life before the update. Never had any of the random reboots or many issues with data like others.
My battery life seems somewhat worse after the update. Everything else seems somewhat improved.
My battery seems about the same if not slightly better after the update.
I do a few things to conserve battery which really conserve the battery.
1. 4G off unless I need it.
2. Battery mode set to 'maximum battery saver'.
3. WiFi sleep policy: When screen turns off (although I think the maximum battery saver will turn it off automatically)
4. Display brightness: 0% unless I need it.

Battery drain over night

Hello, I'm new here. Coming from a Galaxy Nexus, and I'm impressed with this device already.
My question is if it's normal that battery drains around 4 or 5 % over night. I always turn off data, wifi, put it on airplane mode. I also disabled active display, the camera gesture thing and the voice commands.
I think it should be 0% drain :/

Zero drain is pretty much impossible unless you turn it off or own an old school Nokia

(Guessing 8 hours of sleep.) .5-.6 % per hour is great for this phone.
With data (not wifi), active display, gestures and voice commands turned on, plus a few root level changes like greenify, xposed amplify and freezing apps, I achieve around 1 % per hour at idle on stock 4.4.4. This usually equates to around 3 days standby and 1.5 hours of screen time for me.
(I am now testing lollipop... I'm at 1.5 days with 1.5 hours screen time, longer than normal talk time and 30% battery remaining.)
I don't even make it to a day lol. Usually I've to charge at night and then around 7 pm
Here is my sleep running r12 kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59527748&postcount=811 And I don't turn on airplane mode or anything. That is just screen off.
Same problem here (Android 4.4.4, rooted).
Battery drain in flight mode (additionally also tried Moto Voice off, Active Display off, Data off, GPS off without any positive effects) is nearly the same as over the day when using the phone.
The fact that "Stand by" has 25% of all battery usage is a little bit perverted
I'm really happy with Moto X' battery consumption over the day. Normally I have to charge it every second night. But putting to flight mode at 56% when going to sleep and not charging it and finding it at 40% the next morning is kind of frustrating
Install Bettery Guru from Qualcomm, from play store if you run 4.4.x or download the apk from somewhere if you run 5.1+. It will help you reduce the standby drain.

Hmm...doesn't seem to do anything more that I and Tasker do: Deactivate WLAN, Data & Co.
But okay...I'll try that out
From my experience the Motorola SoC has a abnormal high Standby battery drain. You can try whatever you want but you will not get below a certain level like on other phones. Perhaps the contextual cores are never turned off no matter if you use the feature or not, i don't know. At least it gets me trough a day...

Not really, check the screenshot below. For 10hrs ide, it drained 2-3% witch is perfectly normal.

Mi A2 suddenly doesn't Deep Sleep as much as it used to, any way to diagnose it?

I'm still on 8.1, for information.
So usually, according to AccuBattery, my Mi A2 stays in Deep Sleep for ~98% of the screen-off time, which gives me a nice battery drain rate of about 0.5% per hour.
However, a couple of days ago I've noticed higher battery drain while idle. I've checked the stats, and AccuBattery tells me that my phone only sleeps for 85-92% of the time, which surprisingly increases the battery drain considerably.
Question is - is there any way to find out what exactly keeps it from Deep Sleep? Because it certainly does still go into it, but not as much as it used to. I didn't install any new apps or system updates(still using the stock 8.1, as I've said) for a while, so I'm really not sure what could be causing that.
That is why we have Greenify for.

Nah, I've actually used that before, and while it seemed to help at the time, right now it doesn't. I've actually uninstalled it for the time being just to see how it goes.
Right now, I've checked my stats through Battery Historian and it seems like radios are at least one of the reasons for the wakelocks. Right now I'm on airplane mode and the drain is at a respectable 0.6% per hour. However, it still only deep sleeps for 93% of the time, while in the past it was 98, so apparently it's also something else.
Another thing that apparently wakes my device a fair bit is ANDROID_SYSTEM : deviceidle_maint. But I've no idea what to do about it and whether or not it's normal or expected.

Smartcharging feature - Battery drain

Hi,
I am trying to use smartcharging feature on my crdroid ROM. I only tried this one, so I would like to know if the same problem appear on other ROM, or even devices.
During the charge, when I reach the preset charging value, it is working well as the phone stop charging. However, at this time, I can see with betterbatterystat that a Kernel Wakelock appears and prohibit the deep sleep mode to be enable. The name of this kernel is c440000.qcom,spmi:qcom,[email protected]:qcom,qpnp,smb5.
As a result, the deep sleep consume a lot of battery and the next morning, when I unplug my phone, I can see a huge battery drain around 2-4% per hours, which is not ideal for a smartcharging feature...
Have you noticed the same thing with your phone?
Do you have an idea how to resolve that ?
