Question Call recording missing from settings - Redmi Note 10S

Hi,
Two day ago I still had MIUI Global Stable 12.5.18.0 (RKLEUXM) and upgraded to MIUI Global STABLE 13.0.7.0 (SKLEUXM). I though upgrading will fix that problem but it hasnt.
When searching through setting I cant find "call recording" feature. I do not even have a stock contacts & dialer app. Is there a way of fixing this with or without root?
Is flashing global OTA from indonesia or India going to fix this? How should I proceed? Cant find any information on the web on the subject. please help.

Re-lock Mi 8 Bootloader after moving from China Stable to Global Stable

Appreciate if someone can help.
I purchased a Mi 8 Chinese version with China Stable ROM, unlocked Bootloader after waiting 372 long hours and yesterday installed recently released Global Stable ROM. Everything went well and phone worked perfectly. However, when I tried to re-lock the Bootloader, (using both XiaoMiTool and Fastboot methods) the Bootloader gets locked but the phone goes into Recovery bootloop every time with a message at the bottom that "this Miui version cannot be installed on this device....." When I unlock the bootloader again (by booting into fastboot and using Xiaomi Unlock tool) the phone boots normally.
So can I conclude that the bootloader cannot be locked unless I move back to China Stable ROM which originally came with the phone? I read somewhere that Xiaomi has disable the re-locking of bootloader just to curb selling of Chinese versions as Global, as some sellers were selling Chinese versions of Xiaomi phones as Global after installing Global ROMs.
I'm having the same issue as you just did. Not sure why the bootloader can't be relocked. I thought the model # between HK and China versions were supposed to be the same..
Recently xiaomi makes some ugly rules about local and global variant device to prevent Chinese device selling globally and global device selling into china. For that user can flash global rom to china variant device and global variant device to china rom, but we have to unlocked bootloader. Device will perform normally just find device will not worked. Also antirollback terrible disgusting too. I have some xiaomi mobile device and selling them one by one. Only keeping Mi8. If I need more secure device, I can buy iphone. I no need then xiaomi device.
People loving Xiaomi because of its hardware and software with up-gradation facilities. But their operating system optimization is really bad. Every update makes device performance different.

Actually I was reading some things on the MIUI official forum and * apparently* if you have a chinese MI 8 and want to switch to Global rom, your bootloader must remain unlobcked.... I'm not seeing much confirmation on that, but I would be catious...

Yeah, switching to a global rom on a Chinese variant and then locking the bootloader will result in a brick. But I don't understand why anyone would relock the bootloader since most repair shops find out if you unlocked it in the past.
Relock not for warranty reasons, but to get android pay / NFC payment or other banking apps working. Many of them won't work with BL unlocked.
i read that we need an authorized edl account to relock the bootloader, but now it is impossible to get this account..
so this time i'm very dissappointed with xiaomi.

Netflix app and Google Pay needs locked bootloader.
The Mi Mix 2S has the same problem, it seems this person solved it by using recovery version of global ROM with Mi PC Suite: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2943351&page=2#pid27478883
I don't have the device to test it yet, but you should at least be able to keep an unlocked bootloader and use apps that require it to be locked by using Magisk and enabling Magisk Hide on those apps.

I do not know if I can post the link here, but there is a topic in the MIUI forum that gives EDL authorization for just an unbrick. And you must wait for your position in the list.

:good::good:congratulations my friend. I was already sad that I did not understand.
Its solution is simple but of enormous importance for mi8users.
I also did everything ok, but at mi8 it was different. I also received "this Miui version can not be installed on this device ....."
I downloaded miflash unlock .... romGlobal was already installed on mi8 but with blockloaded bootloader it did not work ok.
Now I'm happy and with GlobalRom stable very fast.:good:
Hi,
I try to relock the bootloader with Global ROM install but the phone haven't sign-in with Xiaomi account and it get the same message as your guy "this miui version cannot..." . Now I can't unlock my bootloader to revert it and my phone stay at recovery or fastboot, can anyone know how to flash it back?

[Question] re-lock boot loader

Mi 9t Pro global Rom Miui 10, android 9.
will flash K20 Pro india ROM miui 11, Android 10 fastboot.
why all recommend keeping bootloader unlocked?
i don't want the hassle of banking apps and use Magisk. so what's the problem here of re-lock bootloader after flashing the new ROM?
technical details are most welcome.
Locking bootloader with a different ROM region installed will brick your device. Unbricking will require further wait for bootloader unlock time or you'll need EDL method which I'm not very aware of how it's done.

why locking bootloader with another region rom installed will brick my phone?
and what you mean by brick that it'll never boot?
i got below reply from reddit, what do you think about it??
You are flashing a different version of MIUI. It's not what a lot of people call a ROM (although you are technically correct) . It's not like if you flashed a third party ROM like Lineage or xiaomi.eu... You can relock the bootloader if you have an original xiaomi system and recovery and did not modify your bootloader through a rooting tool (such as having Magisk installed as they get installed and run through a procedure called k-exec that patches the bootloader instead of the system so the hack is unknown to the OS).
Bootloaders are locked to prevent tampering with such exploits. Magisk is not malware but malware and spying tools can be implemented in the same way.
When the bootloader is locked only a ROM and a recovery made by the company that makes the phone can run.

I am not sure about that now. But it bricks because that's how Xiaomi have put. I may be wrong but if many people are saying the same then there should be a reason.

With official ROM either Global MI, Global EEA or China, with Xiaomi MI Flahs tool you can block the bootloader without any problem.
If you do not usually change the rom, or to custom rom or recoverys custom, it is advisable to block it since you cannot download netflix from the play store and some bank applications mark errors. Otherwise you can unlock the bootloader.
The most important thing about keeping it unlocked is that you lose the equipment warranty.
And the benefit of having it unlocked is that you can change from rom or custom rom, and you don't have to wait for xiaomi time to unlock it again; but lose the warranty.
But you open custom possibilities.
thank you guys, but i really need to know what is exactly meant by hard brick?
is it not to boot again or what??

Hy!Are you sure that if I own an Chinese variant of k20 pro and if I relockmy bl I won´t brick my device by relocking it?I just unlocked it today and I plan to instal the EU rom and relock my bl.
Just to make it clear...
Chinese K20 Pro needs to have Stock Chinese rom if you want to relock the phone! Without Mods or anything. Just clean Chinese firmware!
The same for indian variant. Only indian firmware without mods.
Also for Mi 9T Pro! Stock rom without mods!
Even TWRP isn't allowed If you wanna relock the bootloader!
If you cross flash roms and relock the bootloader you will brick your device! Your phone won't boot! You will need to open the backcover and boot it into EDL mode and blablabla. There is a thread about that.
Can be found HERE!

replace russian rom official with global rom official

i bought a mi 9 lite and it came with the russian rom.
I wanted to unlock the bootloader and install the official globlal ROM with mi flash. can i lock the bootloader again with me flash when i install an official global rom?
or
is there a guide to install a global rom without unlocking the bootloader? and without using tools?
You need to first unlock your bootloader in order to fastboot flash the global rom (using MiFlash). After that in the MiFlash tool there is an option to "Flash all and lock" which will lock your bootloader again. Unfortunately there is not a way of doing it to my knowledge without unlocking your bootloader.
Here's the official guide here: https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
Never, ever re-lock your bootloader as this will result in a hard brick that can only be resolved with EDL/authorized account!

Not to my knowledge. I have done it before with my device. Sure if you want to use custom roms/recoveries you will need to unlock your bootloader again which you can do if you are using an authorised account. However, if you are really worried about this happening, you might as well just keep your bootloader unlocked.

Before i could unlock my device, i was able to flash a global rom with a non official tool which name i can't remember.
Global rom was the only one i was able to flash. So yes it's possible.
ok

Yep, this is done with Miflash, be careful " flash and lock "box is checked by default (see the tutorial).
With a stock rom you will need to root and use Magisk modules for the phone to be certified (banking apps, Netflix, payment).
The best is to use a Xiaomi Eu rom where everything works without root and with the unlocked bootloader.
Mi unlock/Miflash/Xiaomi Eu rom will erase your data.
its fine with me to use EU rom, thanks
Do note the devices are not completely the same; Poco users who flashed the Xiaomi.eu rom which is based on the K60 rom are unable to make calls unless they flash the global modem.
