Sorry Mods and Admins, if i m postin' this in a wrong place.
Hi y'all developers, while typin' my last post, i realized that i have 100+ posts, and i have become a senior member now. So felt like makin' a thread for testimonials.
I came across xda-developers, last year. I wuz usin' Blue Angel that time, i wuz attemptin' to update my ROM, with the latest one, on the vendor's website. Somethin' went wrong, and my phone got stuck at a grey screen with USB written on it. I tried everything, that a normal user would do. Tried soft-reset, hard-reset, removed battery, nothin' worked. I thought, that would be the end of it, b'cuz warranty wasn't valid as this phone was officialy not available here, that time.
Then i searched web, and got results in this website, followed wiki, learnt about BootLoader mode, killed the required processes in the task manager & wuz able to do the update succesfully. Then there wuz no end to it, flashed so many ROMs, enjoyed WM6 on a phone runnin' WM3. Never imagined that Had this community not been there, my phone would have been nothin' more than a brick.
Here, we have so many personalized applications to share, customized ROMs removing the shortcomings of original ones, shipped with the device. Moreover, we have 'Offline' to discuss about different other topics, to share jokes, incidents and to get suggestions and reviews on the new things, in the market.
Thanks to all the Developers, Moderators & the Administrators(of course), for this lovely community.
People who feel, if they got any help from this forum, plz post your testimonials here.
UNITED WE STAND, Cheers..
i was totally into nokias and never thought of switching brands.
just about when pocket pcs used to be so bulky- i never thought i needed such a device although it offered much more than nokias.
then came our good ol' magician. when i was on a trip to Dubai i saw this beautiful ppc which was smaller but much higher in specs as compared to the xda IIs
i immediately got it then and there (O2 xda mini).
then one day (when i didn't know about this site) i flashed a wrong rom and my mini showed just USB v1.1. i started searching the www and finally reached this site. i not only got a rom but also wonderful apps which have really enhanced my ppc experience.
but i now feel so unlucky cos' i got a magician. we can not flash wm5 or 6 therefore
no touchflo...no many good things! (if anybody has "good things" pls tell me)
i've helped a number of noobs here who always got a "regional" error when reflashing (of course ...the developers and senior members feel sick repeating it time and again to the new ppl)
i am thinking of getting a new device now but all devices of my choice have a major disadvantage which i would like to list.(point me out if i am wrong):-
1. HTC Touch (slow processor, no dedicated 2.5mm audio jack..and the supplied earphones suck!)
2. HTC TyTN II (HTC is so very reluctant in providing the display drivers..this device is rendered way slower than a magician)
3. HTC Touch Cruise (same case as with tytn II, feels much bigger than touch)
and then windows mobile 7 is on its way and i've come across some screenshots too.
and i seriously doubt the existing devices will be able to be upgraded to wm7. its got some features like dual touch sensitivity which contribute to this doubt.correct me if i am wrong pls. (but very frankly....i have full faith in the developers here who have insanely sharp minds)
and lastly - i have not yet donated any amount till date but i am going to begin soon as i have full plans to get a paypal acount. i understand that the developers here have to sacrifice their hell lot of time to write awesome codes and then to improve them, remove flaws and make them compatible for as many devices as possible.
and then this is a nice thread (thanks to rohit!) ...pls share your experiences -it takes only a minute or two (but it took me more than 15 minites---i am a bit SLOW!!)
thanks a lot
PEACE!!
i got help with my htc wizard. i was getting tired with the rom it came with so i started to look for hacks or mods and i found this site even dough that i had come here a year before looking for info on a ipaq and left the site because had no info on the ipaq. but when i got the wizard this site has helped me with everything
Thanks
Hello everyone!
During the last few days I had a bricked nexus 6. Bootloader locked, no adb, no custom recovery. After several hard resets using stock recovery, the phone could boot. However, in the configuration process, it kept asking me for gmail account that was previously synced with the device. After some research, I discovered that it was a feature introduced with 5.1 and that I had to contact the seller ( which was impossible in my case as I bought it abroad). Another solution was to downgrade, but again it was impossible because I had no adb, no custom recovery, no bootloader unlocked. Surprinsingly, I went to a place here in Morocco where there are some people who flash phones and repair them. I asked one of them about my issue and he told me that it can be repaired. I am just dumbfounded as now I have a " working nexus 6".
I still cannot believe it! How couldn't I find a solution first here in xda? Or Am I missing something?
No one here knows how to bypass it. As far as we are aware, it cannot be done.
Perhaps your team have some special hardware to do it.
Anyway, even if we did know, there would be an ethical debate about releasing that info. No one would tell you.

Thank you so much for your clarification. It's true that the reset device protection is something useful which won't let thieves use our phones, however, there are many people like me who bought their phones legally but got stuck there due to a bad flash or because the seller forgot to erase his account before reset.
And yeah! those people have probably something special or they just know too much in coding.... ( some commands maybe we don't know )

The problem is that there is no way to give information (even if we had it) to those who legally purchased whilst also preventing it getting into the wrong hands.
Those who purchase legally should be protected by testing the device first, a credit card buyer protection/PayPal, contact with the seller or returns policy. Buying outside this is pretty foolish.
I would be interested to know how they did it though.
Was the phone bricked when you bought it, or did you brick it after using it with your google account.
If you used your google account then it would have been tied to you. If that is the case then they fixed some other error.....
Just because this phone using eMMC,not some fuse in CPU to log the ID.So,just change device id,imei.Everything is fine.
I know I've done several factory resets and it always asks for that, BUT, if you flash the stock firmware and have your sim in it I've had it skip that process entirely.
You can try flashing, check if it asks, then flash it again? I know I've bypassed it in the past "accidentally" by doing that.
Maybe it still somehow knows its me? Idk.
They likely used J-Tag to downgrade it.

hi dears, i bought a second hand ARCHOS 50 helium Plus. i can not complete setup. i am blocked while it asks me to put the google account and when i put my google account it says " this device was reset to continue sign in with a google account that was previously synced " i tried to rest the phone. please help..........
Sorry, but the only person that can help you is the person you bought the device from. They will need to sign in to the device, remove their account from the device, then factory reset before you will be able to use it. And before you ask, no, there is no other way to resolve this.
P.S. While the site appreciates that you actually searched for a thread related to your problem, this is the Nexus 6 forum. In the future, your questions are better asked here.

If you follow the directions you will be able to bypass it. This new little security thing was bypassed within hours of it being known about.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-frp-bypass-solution-usb-otg-t3261846
The easies way is unlock the bootloader, and flash the device with the latest stock image.
thanks

If you dont learn something new every day then it is a wasted day man. We all learn new things every day. No matter what security is implamented it will be bypassed ini short order. Heck FP scanner was bypassed within days, Facial rec was done in hours. This one didnt take that long either.
Knowing it's possible is one thing. Explaining how to do it is another. I believe in the future I'm just not going to respond at all to people asking how to bypass the lockout. After responding to someone on these forums who admitted bypassing the account lockout on a found phone, I have to assume that anyone trying to bypass the lockout is a thief.

This is what we do here. We bypass things. Mainly security features. Just look at all the features the OEMS use to lock things down. Things like root, S-off (HTC devices) Bootloader unlocks that dont trip knox (samsung), Bypassing fingerprint and facial rec locks, bypassing pattern/number locks and such.
All those things that you mention aren't anti-theft measures. Those things are the hoops we have to jump through to take control of the devices we've bought and paid for, or are in the process of paying off. They are not intended to prevent the device from being used if the device is lost or stolen.
The account lockout is an anti-theft measure, and I firmly believe that discussing means of circumventing an anti-theft measure should not be allowed on XDA. Obviously, I do not make the rules for the site, nor am I anybody important. But this is simply not acceptable, and I have a problem with it.

Thing like lockscreen locks, fp locks and facial rec are meant to lock the device yet we show time and time again how to bypass them.
As it is common knowledge that all you have to do is format all partitions and flash a stock image and boom it is bypassed.
To be honest no anti theft measure will ever work on an open source platform mainly not a nexus. That is just something that people have to come to terms with.
Hey there,
Long story short I received a Note 8 from one of my relatives although they can't remember which Google account they used on the phone. The phone is now reset although it is prompting me to log in to their account. I've tried researching this but all of the methods seem to be outdated. This is my first time ever using an Android phone, it'd be awesome if someone could help me out!
Thanks
How many Google accounts does one have? The Note 8 is less then one year old... account forgotten?
If you have a proof of purchase, the carrier (if branded) will unlock it

Have him log into google play using a web browser(not from a smartphone) with each of his google accounts, under settings -> my device it will list all past android devices associated with that account (SM-N950**, obviously * represents model number)

what guide should i follow for this phone to root it? android v10
You must be new here. I believe you have to be on Android 8 to be rooted and plus, it's pointless from what I read, anyways. For one, your phone will never fully charge and 2, I'd already inquired about it, the rooting process ends up not being dependable and your phone will no longer be a daily driver. So, the thought of it is a no for me.
I doubt there's even a way to go back to Android 8 and any necessary security patch levels.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...r-development/root-extreme-syndicate-t4043723
You don't have to be on oreo right now for it to work, you just need a combo firmware that uses the same bootloader revision as what you're currently on. You can currently get an oreo combo firmware up to revision 4. Basically it's a "modded" oreo firmware that uses the same bootloader version as newer firmwares.
Please change title or close this thread. Got me excited for nothing
Why close ? Its informative.
Now i know i need to sell my phone caz it cannot be rooted.
How ever, S8+ on 9.0 had root but some devices such as mine were turning into brick attempting to root them due to bootloader version conflict which was not identified by root method or person who wrote the method.
Bricked several S8+ phones attempting to root. Was too afraid to try my last one.
Hell, am not made of money buying phones every time root turns it into a brick where even EDL'ing wont fix it.

Yeah, don't trust random websites. They mostly contain generic procedures that are either vastly outdated or downright wrong.
I have a rooted N960U, and this is what it takes to get there:
To actually be able to root an N960U, you have to be on a software version with an Android security patch level of February 1, 2021 or older (if you look at the baseband version under software information in the About phone section under Settings, the 5th digit from the right should be a 7 or lower number). Anything newer than that is unrootable as far as I know. And for the rooting procedure, you have to unlock the bootloader first which currently requires a paid service as mentioned in the following post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...iers_fix_safetynet_aio.4217753/#post-85381639
Finlay someone giving useful info.
I looked at the sampwn website for unlocking service and i didnt like it.
It threw some kind of subscribe message at me covering entire page so i couldn't even see what the website is all about.
Then it constantly showing "someone purchased this or that" and opens a chat i dont want to see.
Those are 3 red flags for a fishy website so i have to pass.
I did how ever manage to look at the purchase process page and it was also full of red flags.
It was asking too much personal information.
It did not say what you are buying, how much you going to pay for it or what payment method is accepted.
Entire website has a theme of a scammer website, or at the very least it was built using those themes and thus it acts just like it.
Telegram, discord username required ? What if i dont have one ?
Do you want my password to my bank as well ?
Card number with expiration date and full name address and 3 security digits to pay ?
Are you F'ing serious ?
I dont know a single website that sell you stolen serial keys or cracked software that ask you this much information and claim "its required"
Besides, if there is a paid way, there must be a free way.
Who is this guy, owner of some sort of unlocking device ?
Whats the point of locking it if some lone wolf can unlock it anyway ?
Very sketchy.

Whatever method is being used to unlock the bootloader on these models has not been made public, so that's why there are only paid ways.
I can't speak for SamPWND as I used the first link with UNSAMLOCK, and the guy running it was quite helpful and did things quickly. But you do need to contact him through Telegram.
This is certainly not for everyone, so you really have to be sure you want it as it's a one-time, one device only thing. Otherwise, you'll have to look at the Exynos models or the international Snapdragon N9600 model for freely available bootloader unlocking and rooting methods.
SamPWND is a group on telegram i joined.
But i cant contact anyone there. All i get is what the owner posts.
How am i suppose to contact the owner if i want to unlock my bootloader ?
Jeezes ! Why they make things more complicated then they need to ?
In any case, the owner of that channel is some guy named Mohammad Afaneh
Are you F'ing kidding me ?
I am not sending my phone to some guy named Mohammad. Hell no !
He either hack it or put ship me a bomb back that will explode when i open it.

That's pretty strange for a Telegram group. Check the UNSAMLOCK one then as that's the one I used and had no problems with.
But remember that only older software versions are eligible. If yours is later than February 2021, then you won't be able to do anything.

Afaneh has a good rep on XDA, for all I've seen. But I read you about Telegram, kinda irritrates me how it's taken away from the much more available xda forums. I could join, but like I was saying elsewhere just last night, I'm already way too "joined" as it is.
Hello everyone
C25s asks me to enter the "lock screen password" every 72 hours, to make sure that I remember the password.
It was completely ok, until 2 days ago. Two days ago, the phone said that I am entering the wrong password! And as I didn't change the phone's password for months, I noticed that it is a bug.
But because I wanted to keep things simple, I tried and enter all 10000 combination of digits (4 digit password) in one or two days. And the thing is, none of them worked!
The thing that proves this is a bug from company, and not me, is that the phone allows me to enter the password, as many times as I want.
In a normal working phone, with this version of android (12), I think after entering the wrong password for 5 times, the phone will lock you out or will ask you to recover the password with your google account. (am I right?)
Now, I contacted the support and they just simply guided me to factory reset the phone! as simple as that. and they don't accept that this problem is from their side.
I care about the data in my phone, and as you see it is not my fault.
What should I do? Or better to say, what can I do?
Can I sue the company if they didn't accept to help me with this problem?
And one more thing.
I searched the internet and I saw this is not only me and they are some other people that posted their problem in Realme website and forums, but it seems Realme is removing this posts.
I'll share you the links about the same problem, some are available, and for some others you have to find cached version of those pages, because they are no longer available.

It sounds like it got corrupted. Single event upset or memory cell failure maybe.
Reflash it.
On my devices I never set bios, backup drive or screen locks because you are the one most likely to become locked out.

If I'm right, setting at least one pin password is mandatory, and after that, it's your choice to use another type of security mechanisms like finger print or face unlock.
For this device, it needs pin to be set.
Anyways, thank you for the answer. But if you look at the two links I sent, it seems that this Realme incorrect password problem is becoming a trend! those two threads from realme forum are quite new and those happened recently like mine.
I think it should be a software bug. but the thing is, can realme help me with that? should I expect them to help me at this one?
And I should mention, I never rooted or did anything other than normal manufacturers updates.

I run Samsung N10+'s, on them none is it required unless you want to use certain security features which I don't. Passwords for bios or boot never served me well and have caused trouble. Have had 2 go corrupt on PC's.
If others are seeing this that may be better than a random problem. I'd do more Google searches not just for this model but others by that manufacturer as well. Sometimes even other manufacturers. If you can contact the manufacturer do so.
I found many other threads on the Realme website that many users are facing this problem. And it is obvious that it's because of a bug in their software.
please look at this threads:

As xda-developers forum is a large, and famous one, can I ask moderators to label this topic as an important topic? or move it to a place in the forum, so everyone can see it?
I mean Realme users must see this. This is happening not to one specific model, but many Realme models. everyone should notice, and at least Backup their data to minimize the damage that is happening to users.
How can I ask moderators?
