Hey,
I am having issues with my android head unit (FYT), when I am connected to android auto, and try to make a call through messenger or whatsapp, I am not able to hear the call.
futhermore if I leave android auto and go to bluetooth I am unable to see the call.
Is there a workaround for this? since I often do internal calls while driving, and it's really annoying distracting being unable to call.

Hi guys,
In my car, I have a Kenwood Kdc-w4737u radio with bluetooth module Kca-bt100.
Allow me to explain what happens after pairing:
1. Bluetooth ON: When turning bluetooth on, S4 pairs and says "in call" (ghost and muted call), although no call and no app is actually running...
2. Temporary fix: Making a phone call actually solves this problem and S4 starts behaving like it should.
3. After the fix, while on Radio/CD/USB, I receive a phone call that goes through bluetooth, end call goes back to radio/cd/usb.
4. Start Navigon GPS, similar problem like in 1. Navigon seems to open a dedicated audio channel that never goes to sleep. Stays silent when no audio directions are playing instead of going back to Radio/CD/USB.
On my Iphone 4 I do not have any of these issues. Turning Bluetooth on does not start a ghost muted call. While on Radio/CD/USB, receive a phone call activates bluetooth, end call goes back to radio. Same with Navigon GPS, new voice directions activate bluetooth, when voice instructions ends, goes back to radio/cd/usb. Perfect.
I already know that the bluetooth on S4 is the latest chip and version and etc, what I would really like to know is if anyone got a fix for this, I have tried a few apps that control bluetooth in the app market and none works.
Thanks in advance.
If you have an S4 and not the S4 Active, you are in the wrong forum.

Hello,
I have the exact same problem from a few days with my car bluetooth system and my S4 (previously it was working flawlessly), did you solved? or at least found something about it?
Thanks
not really
I have given up on my galaxy S4 and went back to iphone 4. Galaxy over time presented too many random bugs with too many of my daily tasks.
If you make a phone call immediately after connecting the bluetooth, the issue is gone UNTIL you disable bluetooth. Next time you turn bluetooth on you will have to repeat the process.
Over time (after a few weeks) I never got THIS issue back, so I never had to make a quick call for it to behave normally.
Also note that Galaxy S4 has a newer bluetooth version, and most car players have the 2.0, which I believe to be the cause of most issues.
Has anyone else been unable to make phone calls after connecting to your vehicle's bluetooth? Most of the time, I can make phone calls without issue. Sometimes, I can't even hear the call ring when I'm connected to bluetooth. Occasionally, when I turn my vehicle off, the call goes silent instead of transferring to the earpiece on the phone. The only way I can fix the issue is rebooting the phone. This has become increasingly frustrating for me, since the issue is so inconsistent.
I'm running the stock ROM, rooted and un-encrypted.
Thanks!
Same here
I'm having the exact same problem you are having with my Ford Touch Sync, Bluetooth has work maybe once. At other times only the music over bluetooth has work. But was unable to make hands free calling! I also made my ford touch sync a trusted device, and the problem with connection still continues! Hope someone could provide some suggestions
Stock rooted- TWRP- encryption removed
I am having issues also. Just today, my phone shows I am connected to my Pioneer Navi head unit, and the Pioneer shows connected to my phone. I proceed to make a call. The audio on my radio mutes as it should, and nothing. No ringing, no busy signal nothing. so i hang up and try three more times. on that third retry, i heard the other party faintly, realizing that even though my radio muted and shows BT connected, the call went through the ear speaker on the phone. When I hung up the phone, my radio unmuted.
Last week, I was having issues where i couldnt hear any rings or busy signals. It would be silent for 20 seconds or so, then i hear the other party say "hello".
I honestly thought it was my head unit, since it is about 4 years old. But now I see others with similar issues on other brand bluetooth systems in their cars.

I just got my N6 today and I'm having trouble with My Ford Touch as well. I can get it to pair and play music, but it won't "connect" to my phone. It's odd because my N5 works fine with it. I would assume the N6 wouldn't be different.
We probably have to wait for an update from Ford, which will probably take months...
EDIT: Well I decided to try it again. I deleted the Nexus 6 entry as well as the Nexus 5 entry. Went through the pairing process again and it worked as intended. Not sure what happened the first time.
I ran into the same problem as others where my N5 worked flawlessly with my Ford Sync in my fusion, but the N6 is terrible.
I love the phone, but this is really annoying. I get into the car and sometimes it connects immediately, other times I have to turn off and back on the bluetooth about 3 times for it to finally connect. Very weird. Ford offers an upgrade to my Sync system, but wants $50 to do the upgrade. Pass.
I might try what the other person did and delete all entries for phones and pair it again. Unfortunately, the weather is pretty bad outside, so it might need to wait a short bit.
Has anyone else had luck re-pairing with their car and had reliable connections?
I use Ford Sync.

I use Ford Sync, and everything works as expected. I am Stock and unrooted. I guess it would come down to what version of Sync. Mine is from 2012. No touch screen. I also delete all other entries on the system and start from scratch making sure that the N6 is the main device.
If I can wake up the screen on my own, outgoing calls work fine

I have a Nexus 6 running Benzo ROM (5.1.1) and I have a GPS Nuvi 3580 bluetooth-enabled which I want to use to make calls while driving. I have added this device to my trusted devices so my phone unlocks as soon as it connected to it.
If my phone screen is on, then I'm able to call anyone from the bluetooth device, no issues. But as soon as my screen goes off, I can't make calls and when I switch on the screen on my own, I see a message "Process system isn't responding. Wait or close?"
Irrespective of what I select on this message, the call goes through. But it totally defeats the purpose of handsfree bluetooth mode. Is there something that is not allowing the bluetooth device to wake my phone up.
Also when I receive an incoming call, I see the notification on my GPS but I can't receive the call in one go. It takes multiple calls for it go through. I have also noticed that my bluetooth device keeps disconnecting and connecting without any change on either the phone or the GPS side.

Since I last made that post you quoted, i purchased and installed a 2015 model of the Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX. It has Android Auto, but can be used with the regular Pioneer UI also. I have had no issues anymore with this new radio. Maybe the BT protocol in the radio is newer? Im not that tech savvy to know. But the 2015 radio had no issues with BT calls anymore, on Pioneer's UI or Android Auto's UI.
I wonder if anyone can help me with an issue I'm having with Android Auto which is driving me nuts !
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, with AA installed. This is connected to the screen on my Mercedes via the USB connection. So far, so good ! I can use Google Maps, Spotify & Audible, as well as make calls. The recent update to allow for "OK Google" commands enhances things even further.
However....
Whenever I receive an SMS message when AA is active (I am using SimplyText, v5.94), it sets off the ringtone I have for calls. Frustratingly, the ringtone continues once I listen to the message. Indeed, it continues until I reboot the phone, which is very frustrating !!
Is anyone aware of why this might be the case and whether any of the settings, either on the 'phone or the APP itself, could address this issue*
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
I have VW Passat with AA (MIB3 based system). Android Auto works in general, but there is a problem with applications like ReplaIO, Spotify and sometimes even TuneIn.
Those start to stream audio "into nowhere". The sound volume control does not work then either from the panel or from the steering wheel. What I do to enable sound?
I need to run ANY Google based app, like Youtube or Youtube Music/Google Play Music, then stop it and switch to another app. Then it plays correctly, with sound.
Anyone got same behaviour in the car? What is the reason? Any workaround? This is not happening when same phone plays via Bluetooth, there is always the sound.
Only via AA connection, there is a problem. Later, after my manual workaround as above, switching the sources (FM/DAB/BT/AA) works correctly.
But if I disconnect the USB cable and connect it again... no sound from AA
Please help.
As far as I know, this is an ongoing bug. To reenable audio when the bug occurs you can simply dial to some phone number (best and easiest is if you call a number with an automatic answering machine), wait for the answer and then disconnect the call. Immediately you will get the sound back. In my car, when it happens, there is no sound at all, in any app, the only way is dialing.

Well, for sure the problem exists, but it seems we need to live with that. No fix until now from Google. I wonder if this is related to Android 10, have anyone tried that with earlier versions?
In my case (just tested), the phone call does not fix that. The only way for me is to play some song from Youtube Music, pause that and switch to Spotify, for example. Then it plays normally.
I suspect this bug is related to sound focus/sound routing/mixer.
This bug is related to AA only and it is happening in Android 9 also, maybe not everyday, but from time to time. I have a Note 10+ with Android 9 and a Peugeot 3008. In my case, the trigger is, almost always, the lack of internet connection in my underground parking. If the phone is connected to my car's display through AA, and if I try to play internet music (spotify or other internet radio app) before I get out from the parking and before my phone gets connected to the internet, then the music app gets stucked and the sound from any app disappears. Only making a phone call and waiting for somebody to respond or restarting the phone does help.

Hi, I was using AA in my VW Passat 2021 with a Xiaomi phone running android 10, and everything was just perfect; since the recent update to android11, I've two major issues; 1) phone calls. It seems it's impossible to make phone calls using ok google assistant. if I try to call someone saying, "ok google, call Mum," it replies, "I'm calling Mum", but nothing happens until I disconnect AA from my car and only then the call starts...very frustrating.
2) waze is not able to make the GPS fix, and it continuously tries to find my position. Any suggestions?
