Phone is dead.. - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

My phone is dead and doesn't turn on. I tried all button combinations but no luck. It just flashes when connected to power and screen goes black. not even able to enter fastboot or recovery mode. Please help.
1 - I hold the power user button and connect power.. it flashes charging icon, Powered by Android icon and nothing happens
2 - I connect power cable and it flashes charging icon and nothing happens.. this is happening sometimes and sometimes even this icon does not appear

This seems to be a hardbrick. I found this, but it seems you have to register to the site to get them, you have to get your device into edl, Google how to. Afterwards, flash with this. I do not guarantee any files mentioned here are safe, please check them yourself.

Thank you much... Let me try this.

Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hmy captivate died after flashing Axura using clockwork
now I can not boot up the phone, unplug the battery for 15 Min and put it back but still the same can not boot up the phone....
please help
You need to figure out a way to get into Download Mode, use ODIN, and flash back to JF6. Once you have JF6 running, you can flash whatever rom you want again.
If you search, you'll see a bunch of posts on the different methods to get to Download Mode.
Goodluck.
Yes, I know if I get download mode I can flash whatever rom, but the problem is that the phone completely dead nothing shown in the screen, I have tried the following
1- try the combination of Vol down + Power
2- try the combination of Vol up + Vol Down + Power
3- try Vol down and then connect USB
4- try Vol down + Vol Up and then connect USB
all these while opening ODIN
also I tried this on both windows 7, and windows XP.
do you have any other suggestions to do.
please help
Still have the problem, need heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp please
How did it exactly die? It'd be useful for people who may know a solution. I've heard of JIG a few times.
you get the little home lights on the bottom of the phone to light up at least?
Also.. does the computer recognize the device?
If not and it's completely black screen and you don't even feel it vibrate while booting? Its toast.
But.. try doing the battery/sim card pull - hold down both volume buttons plug in the USB and jam in the batter and see if that works.
Or.. to the ATT warranty center you shall go.
I was flashing Axura rom using clockwork recovery, and after complete the installation and start reboot this back screen comes on, now not booting at all
Odin not recognize the phone, or even the computer does not detect any connected device,
I tried pull the battery, wait for 15 min then connect the USB, hold vol up, down and power keys then put the battery back while holding these three keys nothing happen, the screen still black and the computer not detect it.
I tired all ways but nothing works with me.
Now I think it is complete died, Even I tried the hair dryer trick but nothing works.
some posts talk about JIG
How this JIG works and how to do it?
up for heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp

I followed JIG solution, connect resistants of 301K on pin 4,5 on mini usb head, nothing works still black screen, no at&t log nothing
help any new suggestion
try charging the phone for a few hours, if possible try a different battery.
also you may be in download mode with a black screen. i had a bad crash once from too much overclock or a corrupted kernel flash with the manhatten project 1.6ghz kernel. it corrupted the image files for bootup and download mode, my startup screen was garbage and had a black screen for download mode. but download mode still worked. start odin, it may still show device connected.
I did connect the JIG for 10 sec then disconnect it, then connect the phone to the computer while ODIN open, but nothing happen the computer still not detecting the phone, also the screen still black, it does not even any sign of responding except it get heated when connect it to charger.
guys as posted in other thread, will reward 75 US$ for who will help me getting my phone back to life
if you got the phone through at&t, you might as well just go exchange it for a new one. the people there won't be able to determine if you've voided your warranty if they can't boot your phone either.
sorry I did not got the phone from AT&T, I bought it from Ebay so I can not send it back to them

URGENT: Splashscreen endless restart

This is what happens:
1. battery out of phone and MicroSD and SIMcard also out of phone.
2. Put in battery.
3. Without pushing any button phone turns on and shows splash screen and in a split second second the cyanogenmod logo (it has CM7).
4. Phone turns off and restarts the cycle showing the splash screen etc.
Also it may show the little star insted of the splash screen and in a split second the battery and restarts. I've tried two batteries with and without charger.
I can enter download mode, stay there in a few second and then it restarts again.
Does anyone have a solution?
Or is it possible to make a backup? I have tried to enter recovery mode, but it is not possible.
Hm,
it could be that your power button is stuck and is always connecting. Do you notice a click when you press it?
Thanks for your answer. Yes I do hear a click.
The phone has been connected to the charger, it stil shows that star and restarts and the whole phone is hot. Can I make a backup of the phone? And flash via Download mode?
I have tried to enter download mode again, it enters, i connect it to PC with USB, Odin detects it but in a second the phone restarts and Odin says Added and then Removed!
What can I do? Is there any thing to do? :crying:
AW: URGENT: Splashscreen endless restart
Honestly I still think it's the power button. I did test it. When I restart the phone and keep my power button pressed it behaves exactly as you describe! I don't have the slightest idea how to help you with that. Sorry mate.

[Q]HOW TO RECOVER A HARD Bricked Sony XZC6002?

This is a HARD Bricked phone that first started going berserk after a partial install of a SONY software update. The phone would flash the home screen and continually vibrate. I forced it down with power off. Did not know what I was doing and believe I converted a soft brick to a hard brick. The soft brick at first responded to power button and volume up button to reboot. After that point it became more and more unresponsive to complete death.
It is not recognized by PC (even in the device manager) when plugged into USB port on PC. NO LED or any lights on the phone at all! No red charging LED with charger plugged in, No Sony screen icon, no vibration with power button pushed hard for >10 seconds (with and without pushing up/down volume). The ONLY response I get is an audible windows sound coming from my PC as long as I hold the power and volume up button down.
I have left the phone off a charger for >48 hours and then placed it on the charger for 6-7 hours. Still no red LED while on the phone was on the charger. Reason for me doing this was my reading notes that Sony had a battery error issue that could only be solved by removing the battery or draining it completely. Recharging the battery was suppose to be a fix. A recent poster did this (removed the battery) which is a job and was able to get a red LED but nothing else. There was no reply.
My readings also indicated that there are a number of people with this problem (hard bricked phone) involved with download or install of their software Sony reportedly has a fix to install to correct it. I am a day late and a dollar short.
BTW, the Sony PC companion works up until I connect the phone to the PC and then an error message appears to make sure battery is charged to 80% before proceeding. Ignoring that brings up a troubleshooting screen prompting holding the power button and volume up button for 10 seconds. This is where I get an audible windows connect/disconnect sound coming from my PC that will keep sounding as long ass I hold the buttons down and stops after I remove them. Could this possibly be just a battery issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Firstly, you've made one major mistake when you've turned off your phone by using force. It can completely brick your phone forever.
Secondly, if you can hear any sound when connect your phone to USB, then thats mean, that your phone is still in minimal functionality. However, you can give a try to buy a new battery and see, how it goes.
It's better to buy extra battery, than change the whole phone, am I right?
And try to leave your phone without touching it for couple days I think. Maybe your battery somehow has got any fault or it has been faulted when you've force-shutted the phone.
Just give a try and that's all. You can't do anything else, except if you know and you're ready for phone disassembly. If none of my suggested methods will work, then try some other tutorials, you can search for them in XZ category's. I've forgotten how that thread is named, but you can search by some key-words, like : ultimate recovery, back to life, unbrick and etc.,
I hope my information is all correct and helpful, if not, then sorry for disturbation for nothing

My gut tells me that the battery is OK but needs to be recharged. Apparently there is something that will not allow the battery to recharge unless it is removed or drained to zero. I thought I drained it to zero but perhaps not. The other case where the battery was removed and was then able to show a red LED apparently allowed the battery to recycle. That's as far as he got.
In the mean time I'm taking your advise and just letting the phone sit until someone makes a suggestion or I get tired of looking at it.
Thank you for your time and suggestions.
Can you enter the "fastboot" mode (unlocked bootloader) /"flash mode" (locked bootloader) ?
Hold "volume down" button and connect with USB cable to the pc.
So first hold "volume down" button and then connect with USB cable to the pc while holding the "volume down" button. Let go the "volume down" when a green led on your phone appears.
You can still enter the "flash mode" if the green led appears.
Hold "volume up" button and connect with USB cable to the pc.
So first hold "volume up" button and then connect with USB cable to the pc while holding the "volume up" button. Let go the "volume up" when a blue led on your phone appears.
If the blue led appears on your phone you can still enter the "fastboot mode".
There is still hope if the green/blue leds appear on your phone (meaning you can still enter "flash mode" / "fastboot mode".
. But the following question need to be answered:
Has your phone an unlocked bootloader?

It is HARD Bricked. Unresponsive to all of the above w/o any LED response.
Has your phone an unlocked bootloader?
The phone was purchased from Sony and was factory unlocked. It was running fine until the new update from Sony was installed. I believe the update was related to the OS which is 4.4.4.
Thank you.

S10e no download mode, no TWRP, strange Black Screen / Brick Issue?

After i tried to solve another issue with a custom Rom and installed a TWRP for Hades Rom, my S10e doesn't start normal, download mode also doesn't work.
Only thing is, if I press Power + Bixby and Vol down, it vibrates and the Samsung logo appears shortly.
After that the PC (if USB is connected) shows the folders but display of the phone is still black.
Funnily i can tab on the phone screen and it vibrates on some areas, so I assume it is in TWRP but with a black display.
I'm completely stuck now, searched a few hours on google and XDA for a solution but nothing works.
Power and Vol down mages a restart, if USB is connected the folder appears after a fw seconds on the PC, Display still black. When i tab on the phone it vibrates but no display, so no idea what i'm doing.
Download mode or "visible" TWP doesn't work, tried also several button combinations, nothing works.
So, how can i get in download mode to do a reflash? I've no data on the phone so wiping is no problem. Any ideas?
Edit 1: It seems i could solve the issue by draining the battery completely and go into download mode afterwards, so - solved for now
Bump, having the same issue
Hold power and volume down to get out the black screen

Possible brick after updating twrp

Dear all,
I was on beyond 5.3 with twrp 3.3.1.7 and I wanted to update everything. Magisk, root etc was working fine.
I downloaded the patched twrp file from the beyond telegram chat and flashed it as image into the recovery partition.
The installation was finished in 2 seconds, but stupid me chose to power off instead of rebooting the recovery.
So I tried to enter recovery using the button combo but nothing happened and I was stuck with the samsung logo.
The current status is that my phone only shows the samsung logo.
Holding the power button for a minute doesn't do anything.
Pressing the button combo for recovery mode doesn't do anything.
Pressing the button combo for dl mode makes the phone reboot. It vibrates for a sec, then the samsung logo shows again.
If I keep pressing all 3 buttons the phone keeps on rebooting and vibrating each time, but dl mode never appears. If I let go of the power button the logo stays and again, nothing happens.
So basically I can't enter dl mode nor reboot.
Should I let it run dry and try again or just throw out of the window immediately? :crying:
I let the battery drain over night. Phone was finally off.
So when I plug it in, the Samsung Logo appears and doesn't change. It just stays like that forever until the battery drains.
Pressing the power button doesn't do anything, no matter how long. It doesn't reboot nor does the logo disappear.
Pressing vol+, bixby and power again does nothing.
Vol-, bixby and power makes the phone reboot. The screen turns black, the phone vibrates shortly, the logo reappears. If I keep pressing the buttons the phone reboots again, and again, and again, mever reaching download mode.
If I let go of the power button and keep pressing vol- and bixby the phone stays black and won't even show the logo. Nothing happens. If I let go of either of the two buttons the logo appears again.
It won't boot, won't go into recovery or go into dl mode.
I'm doing all this while it's plugged into the usb port of my pc, and it doesn't get recognized. Samsung 300k tool doesn't recognize it either.
Now I know the meaning of "bricked" lmao.
Does anyone know how to possibly fix this?
Pressing only the power button for a minute literally does nothing. Like hell, how is that even possible?
You can try this to go to download mode:
Vol down + bixby + usb cable connect to PC
It's advisable to charge battery first before flashing firmware.

I tried that for like a thousand times already but now it chose to magically work somehow.
I think I peed myself a little when that ugly turquoise screen appeared and I screamed from sheer happyness.
THANK you!!!
The problem that doesn't stop giving lmao.
Got into DL mode, got odin to start, but after like 10 seconds my phone dies and odin fails.
Now I cant get into DL mode, but rather only the "an error occurred while updating the device software. use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software."
Could it be the battery that simply dies?

Yes most probably a discharged battery. Hopefully you can go to DL mode again after charging your phone.
hello,
I've and S10e and because an important app to me I need to go back to android 9 where it works.
I've read a lot info about downgrade, but no one says ROOT/UNBRICK.
Can someone inform if there is a way of downgrade without ROOT (maintaining the warranty).
thanks in advance
P.S.: Maybe too naive question, sorry for that
