Tablets
I currently use Android auto in my van via my Galaxy S22. The downside is the screen in the van is only 7" and I would prefer a larger one.
I have recently become aware that you can use a tablet for your in-car display. The problem is that the only Tablet with a suitable screen size is the A7 Lite which I think was a 8.9" screen. However after doing some research it appears that is the one Tablet that is no longer compatible with Android Auto.
My cunning plan was to use the Samsung flow to transfer my phone to my Tablet and then use it for Android Auto.
Can anyone kindly shine any light on this please
Search for Headunit Reloaded, it basically turns your tablet into a headunit which runs AA from your phone just like any other headunit.

For a while now I have been trying to figure out how to mirror my screen from my phone onto android auto so that I can use Uber driver app on my head unit. I am using a Samsung Galaxy not 8 tablet that I have rooted and installed cm12.1 on. I was able to pu aa 2.9 on it with GPS 12.2.21. I have tried everything that the forums say and can not get aamirror to show up on my head unit which is a Chevy mylink. The only thing that it says is back to mylink. Is my problem that I am using a tablet? Android auto works normally so I don’t know. Any help anyone can give would be appreciated..
Hey guys!
I brought this China Android Headunit running on T3 K2001n cpu and 2gb of Ram on Android 7.1. The brand is "Roadmark". I tried connecting my oneplus 6T to run Android Auto using USB but everytime it runs the easyconnect mirroring app. So I decided buy the Android Auto dongle (white/black) any feedback on which one to buy? And also is there any possibility to root my system? Please help!
Hi, I suggest to buy the white one as the black ones don't always have android auto only carplay while the white ones have both. I would suggest to go to AliExpress and look for carlinke or carlinkit brand. I have the white one and works perfectly both with AA and Carplay. It's worth to buy as it changes the whole experience of the headunit

Have you tried using Headunit Reloaded? It is an emulator for Android Auto for headunits.
Downloading the Android Auto app on the head unit won't work, as it is just the server (equivalent to the phone) but you need the client (equivalent to a head unit).
You shouldn't need any additional hardware.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I have the full version of the Android Reloaded redeveloped by Emil, I ran Android Auto in developer mode according to the instructions given, the USB direct mode doesn't work at all only the WiFi direct works but again it's very laggy and choppy the audio breaks so much. So that's why end up buying the Carlinkit for $30.
If you download headunit reloaded from play store after you have bought it and install it and then you download the XDA labs app from forum.xda and then you go to and look for headunit reloaded then there will be a betab available. Download the beta and the WiFi connection with headunit reloaded will work pretty good. Only downside if you are using Spotify when changing track from your steering wheel it will always skip a track and go always to the second one. But only with Spotify
Hi, I have Head Unit that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. So basically I just want to connect my Android powered tablet to it. So I installed Android Auto apk to tablet and it works just fine. However once I connect tablet to head unit nothing happens. Android Auto isn’t starting.
Any suggestions?
There are a few discussions of this:

hi, my Samsung s20 ultra was working until a few days ago but through mirror link, im trying to connect through android auto but I keep getting a message on my car computer screen saying to connect a compatible USB device, I know AA is built into my fone, It mostly for navigation I need it thanks
Your car needs to be able to handle Android Auto. You say you used Mirrorlink. This is a different system. Check if your car is compatible with Android Auto. My guess is, it is not.

It looks like Samsung has dropped Android Auto support on their newer tablets. I have an S7+ and had to sideload the Android Auto APK because it wasn't available thru the PlayStore. Installation went just fine but when I connect the tablet to my Pioneer head unit, the head unit reports a communication error. I also wasn't sure I wanted to leave such an expensive tablet in my car anyway, so I opted to buy the Aldocube iPlay 50 Pro ($179 on amazon) with the hope that it would work out of the box with my head unit. It worked perfectly out of the box and it also has a sim card slot in case you want to use it on cellular networks. I'm a cheap skate so I just use my phones WiFi hotspot whenever I'm driving to save money on another cellular plan just for the tablet.
