Hi
I have had the nokia 8 for sometime now. Awesome phone but like lot of people I am struggling with the camera app. Lot of people complain about the focus time in the camera app but no one seems to say the app never gets focus.
Now the problem I have is most of the time the camera doesn't seem to focus at all. I click the viewfinder hoping it will focus but it doesn't. When I put the camera in the monochrome camera the focus is ok but the colour one doesn't focus. I put my finger near the lens and find that the focus seems to be set right near the lens (finger is clear). I used a cloth and wiped the glass and then the focus works properly when I close the app and try again after sometime the same problem reoccurs. The same issue is there when I use the WhatsApp camera as well.
Now my question is this normal and same thing other people are going through and wait for an update or do I need to show the phone at the service centre.
What is the time to focus you guys are having on the phone.
I am not much interested in camera when i bought Mi A2, it works fine. but recently when i was taking picture, it was half side blur and i was not able to make focus on upper side of camera. i tried all modes but no use. I have Note 6 Pro and it's camera functions and focus properly.
in mi A2 I observed when in MANUAL mode i select Lens as LOW LIGHT, it works (but in manual mode only).
do any one has some solution or give reason to behave camera like this.
Same here
It was a February patch bug and it seems to persist in March patch... Xiaomi.

This is a hardware problem, I also had this, give the phone a guarantee.
P.S. sorry for english(
How so we both have exactly the same problem and mine started with pie?
Looks like this is a hardware issue, I'm having the same problem after 4 months of use.
Same here, I also took it to guarantee and they told me it was a software problem, but when they gave it back to me nothing had changed. Camera still not working

I had ordered it from this website but I had paid the cheapest shipping, I'm from Mexico so it will take a while to arrive to my country.. maybe next month..
I had the same problem and replaced the camera module with a new one, and the problem was fixed... temporarily because 3 months after it started happening again with the new camera, so either I am super unlucky, or it must be some other defect in the phone that tends to breaks the primaey cameras...
At this point I don't think I am going to replace it again. Do you know of any way of recording videos with the low light camera?
I have the same issue. In fact this issue persists in the video mode as well. Its okay for videos of objects nearby but move even a few metres away and it becomes very difficult to focus. I was at this concert and wanted to record the performance but only got a very blurry video with muffled sound. For photos this issue is especially an inconvenience when taking photographs of documents etc where you could very well do without the unnecessary bokeh effect. In MANUAL mode this does reduce a bit, but not to any extent that helps.
I was just told by a friend that installing the Google camera mod might help, but I'm yet to try it out.
I have same problem with upper side blur. Seems that switching to "manual" mode and change "lens" from "regular" to "low light", as said by the original user. It works fine with me. Thanks for the tips ! ........ so it is not the hardware problem, it is a software problem. Changing camera may not work ! Don't know if they are going to release new firmware to solve it or not ?? Any idea how to upgrade the firmware ?

If it is a hardware problem I do not see why it would prevent using the secondary camera, it can be a problem with the lenses (Have you thrown or hit your phone?) and not with the module. There are those who have returned to Oreo and the problem persists.
Hello everyone,
I have this problem for 6-7 months. One of my rear camera takes photos half blurry so i can only use with the Low Light option. But in the video, it's still blurred. I installed MIUI rom, so the camera app has not low light option. I can't use my camera for months. I ordered camera module from two different sites in two different time periods. I took em to mobile repair store and when they plugged new camera module and tried to open camera app it said "can't connect to camera". So it didn't work for 2 times. I don't know what to do. When i need take photos i'm using my front camera so it seems very interesting
I need help, what should i do? I'm waiting for your answers. Thank you.
Change your camera module. It`s a hardware issue. I had the same problem. After changing, camera will be perfect again.

Like i said, i bought two times and it didn't worked. Where did you get that from and how much it'd cost?
Hi there, I have an ongoing problem with the main camera on miui 12. My camera works fine with all the shots except for macro photos or when I try to focus on something near. I use both gcam and stock camera app and both results are same.
Here are some example photos. Last one is ultra wide, its not clear because of low Light but it can actually focus.
Up!!! Nobody else has the same issue?
This close focus problem is occuring on my device too, i reset my phone and after using again like a new one, this problem occured ,plz i need a solution
How to solve this issue?
Hi all friends, camera of my S21u (SM-G998B/DS) has had a focus issue for around 4-5 months now. When shooting the camera fails to focus on objects or humans around 1 meter away or more. The image comes out blurred. My temporary solution is to shake the phone a few times at medium strength against my palm before taking photos. This helps a lot, but not always. Moreover, when using between 3x and 10x zoom, the screen displaying the image is shaking terribly. When more than 10x, no more shake. However, when shooting close-up it is very good and never fails to impress. I can get as close as 1cm and no intervention at all.
I always update my phone to the latest version available from Samsung, hoping that it would fix this issue. But issue still remains.
Same here, I noticed this a few months ago, always updated firmware, never hard drops (few small drops with case).
one solution is to give a little bump to the camera corner and the focus works.
Some say blocked OIS sensor, others say after certain firmware update, I don't know yet the correct answer.
Thank you mcbyte_it for sharing.
I feel this may be a software issue. I hope Samsung will fix it soon; otherwise this will be my last Samsung phone for me.
