I'm interested in getting xz1 compact however in doing my research I'm seeing a few complaints of Sony pushing ads through one of their pre-installed apps. And it can't be disabled.
Is this true, how many of have seen ads? And if yes can be disabled complain?
I'd hate to spend $500 on a phone and then forced to endure ads.

It's an app that uses standard Android notifications to occasionally highlight some Sony products.
It doesn't inject ads into other apps, or anything like that.
You can disable it via ADB with:
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sonymobile.entrance

I've never seen any ad on that phone that didn't came from any program I used.

Debloating

Guess people might know this already, but just to let you know, Package Disabler Pro works great to disable system apps, but be careful. I disabled all sprint stuff and some other stuff I don't need. No issues so far
Of course some system apps will still boot after disabling them, but my guess is that hopefully those apps use less ram and battery now?!

Thanks for this. I forgot that this app even existed. It's been a while...:highfive:

Lotsa room on the phone already, more so with stuff that can be plainly uninstalled. The rest 'disabled' to preserve system for factory updates. With SD up to 2tb, bloat not quite so much a nuisance as it was years ago.

Agreed! Not so important to debloat with more and more storage and ram these days.
It's totally up to one and each. ME, I will always debloat if possible. Privacy and battery life is reasons good enough for me. And with a phone this good, rooting is not as important as it was once, especially when there's good tools/methods to disable unwanted stuff. But I'm a rootoholic, so if it happens, I will definitely do it. Until then, I'm happy with what I've got.

The one thing that I can't live without is Viper4Android...(main reason I'm sticking with the V30+) but debloating without root seems awesome will it be possible with the Sprint variant?

But be aware, I'm not sure how exactly this app works? For sure the system apps that you can't disable normally, will be disabled with this app, but some of them are still booting. Hopefully not so "heavy" on the ram and the battery after disabled? Haven't compared yet. Might be a good thing though, not to cut off any dependencies...

Viper4Android is a neat audio customization app. It requires root to install, which we will not have available until LG provides phone unlocking (hopefully soon!)

Do you know how to get into DIag mode for this model ?

It should be noted that the WiFi Calling app also handles VoLTE on Sprint devices. That should be considered before disabling it as bloatware. It's essential functionality to the phone, if you want to have that ability. Personally, I would not consider WiFi Calling to be bloatware in the first place. But it's even more essential in this case.

.I noticed the V40 Dev mode has "OEM Unlock" an option to turn on or off but that's probably isn't going to do any good without fastboot huh ?

Diag Mode codes are carrier specific. If you have a Sprint variant like OP, your code would be ##3424#. The Sprint hidden menu code is 5689#*405#, for this model.

Question Game Optimizing Service

Now the S21 ultra is here with and several test benchmarks and stress test on the internet. The throttling is the only problem with Exynos S21 ultra thats still here since S20/Note20 series.
The snapdragon version has much smaller throttling with much more heat... We need a solution to remove/disable the Game Optimizing Service again, because its a trash especially in the Exynos version.

Question, does disabling a app, as package disabler does, only hide the app from the user?
The app that has been disabled is still there, using space and if a other app call's for it, it will still respond. So, disabling a app only restricts it from not being used in the background.
If so, does disabling apps really save you anything? Isn't it better to Uninstall the app?
Or am I totally off track here?

The Package Disabler dev is a cheat. His app stops working after some time and he asks you to buy a new licence. Doesn't restore purchase. Have already paid for the app and burnt my fingers. Bogus app, it's nothing but a bad tasting placebo. Avoid like the plague.

You can't uninstall system apps... without root that is. That's where diasabling comes into play

The disable apk will not run at boot up or ever unless you enable it. It's not uninstalled and can be easily turned on/off at any time.
The Package Disabler is not the one they are talking about from Playstore.
It's available only at the website I showed. I've been using it for over 3 years.

So is there any good when you disable the game optimization ?

Was present on my device but i removed it. As far as i could find online a hand full games are supported so i figured i have no need for it

So I can remove it without causing any issues??

Game optimization does nothing to enhance gaming for me. My 10+ running on Pie does fine without it. No discernible difference.

I have no issues at all after removing it

You need to get a `private DNS server` as well as what others have suggested with disabling. With DNS, I'd recommend a `recursive Pi-hole setup`. If you aren't up the task or do not have a Pi, as most don't, just find an upstream provider.
Once you've set this up, head to your `blacklist` and add `gos-api.gos-gsp.io`. A lot of times, even after disabling GOS, it will still connect to Samsung servers, therefore it's a great extra measure which can be taken by blacklisting `gos-api.gos-gsp.io`. Others worth mentioning include: `diagmon-serviceapi.samsungdm.com`, and `dc.di.atlas.samsung.com`.

It's purpose is to prevent the same issues that existed within S7 lineup and their battery meltdowns. That's why it reports online to Samsung servers; it has null to do with optimizing game performance in the way we'd all hope sadly enough. It optimizes heat dissipation rates by throttling aggressively when it hits whatever Samsung deems the threshold of potential lawsuits and danger due to meltdowns and "explosions".

The good: improved gaming performance on the Exynos variant of the Galaxy S lineup.
The bad: decreased processor and battery life due to increased temperatures.

Ok so, I have purchased (package disabler pro) 3 times from google play. It seems Everytime, I get a new device it makes me purchase the app again. And now it's not even in the google playstore. Dev wants me to purchase again. And I refuse to do so.. My question is is there another app that works.

Why you need to purchase it 3 times ?? When you linked your Gmail account that you have used to purchase certain apps the apps doesn't require you to buy it anymore Google playstore download the license key automatically for it
also you can just use command to remove bloatware

Because the dev deletes the app to make you have to purchase again with new key. Well yeah if I had a computer, I could do that but I don't

Question Remove Google Pay from power menu

Hello,
I can not seem to remove or hide google pay from the power menu. I can hide devices however google pay remains even after i removed it from ABD

Update: I have come to understand this is a much desired feature, which i can appreciate however its something i'm personally not using, Can anyone help in how to remove this please
