Audio bug - Redmi Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, i have problems with my daughters phone. It started a while ago...the audio volume would randomly adjust itself to maximum volume. I never found a solution and my daughter could live with it.
Today the problem was reversed, e.g. the volume always goes to silent by itself. When my daughter tried to restart the phone, it was stuck on a fastboot screen for about 20 mins. The problem still occours after restart.
We tried manipulating the volume buttons in case they are stuck. We also performed the speaker test found in the hidden menu under the kernel version.
The problem appears with and without headphones, on bluetooth and with cable headphones.
I don't know what to do...
MIUI Global 14.0.3

Take down the back panel and check the ribbon cable for the side buttons. When my Redmi Note 9 cracked in half, the ribbon was completely ripped off and I had to order a whole new back panel. Don't even ask how that happened, the screen kinda survived, except it has some blue spots from the dead backlight panel and a huge black bar in the middle of the screen where it got bent.

[Q] Ear speaker completely mute and black screen during calls

So yesterday my N1 was working fine, I put it to charge and today it's acting all strange:
I can make calls, but when I take the phone to the ear it goes black and doesn't come back. Sometimes if I press trackball or power it does, but normally it should show me the in call screen when I move away.
I can't hear anything from the ear speaker. I don't hear the calling tone, and when the other side picks up (I feel the vibration that tells me that) I can't hear anything. Speaker works fine, only the ear speaker that don't.
I've tried wiping everything twice, removing the battery and putting it back again, downgrading CM to 7.0, and nothing works. The question is: is this a hardware problem (speaker dead) that is making the call screen bug, or is it a software bug that is causing the ear speaker to be mute?
I accept suggestions on how to test it.
UPDATE 1: connecting an external headset on the 3.5 mm plug doesn't work either, I tried to place a call and no sound came of the headset, and neither media apps like youtube redirected the sound to it.
Have you tried doing a full wipe, plus while your at it you might as well reflash your ROM with a system wipe. That should fix you up.
I flashed a whole new stack of stock stuff (boot, recovery, system), going back even to 2.1, and still no game.
Then I opened it and changed the top circuit board for one I had here (I replaced it with a new one because of the power button), and still no game.
So I can't think of anything else short of a total loss of this phone, maybe some circuitry on the bottom board fried or something like this.
I don't see any solution for my poor nexus

Blutooth volume goes up and down by itself when playing music

Anyone having an issue with the Bluetooth volume going up and down when playing on a Bluetooth device? My volume goes up and down by itself? Not huge increasing but enough to become annoying.
Anyone else?

Mine seems to drop to where the red starts, like the warning for turning it up pops up and I am able to turn it past that but then it goes back down... It is still plenty loud enough but yeah I have noticed it tool, as far as it going back up and down on its own I have not seen that.
Same here! Got my Note5 32gb Black on release day 21st Aug. Day 2, I noticed the volume going up/down while streaming Bluetooth from my car. I did a couple of factory resets due to unrelated stuff. Since then I haven't notice the volume going up/down while streaming Bluetooth.

Thanks Ill try that
Its damn annoying lol
My note 5 - 32 GB is doing that on Bluetooth in the car, on my Bluetooth speaker and on the wired earphones. Very annoying. I am about to take it back as it seems like the volume is on a yo-yo. Any fixes other than the multiple factory resets as that seems like a major pain since I spent so long setting up all my apps and preferences.
I may have fixed this issue. I had the same problem both before and after I enabled SoundAlive+ and volume normalization.
I went to settings/sounds and notifications/sound quality and effects.
Clicked Adapt Sound, and went through the setup process. This seemed to cure the problem.
SoundAlive+ is turned off at this time. Not sure if I turned it off or the system did. Either way, I'm not turning it back on for fear the issue will return.
Hope this helps.

Headphone Sound Notification and screen broken

I've had the axon pro since late February. A couple weeks ago the notifications, media, would go silent and the screen won't go off when I plug in headphones. When I turn the volume back up I can see the volume moving back down to silent. I updated the phone a few days ago and the problem still persists. I took a few of the apps that I added off to see if that was the issue but no luck. I still haven't factory reset the phone because I have a lot of music that I don't want to reload. Does anyone have any ideas or have been going through the same thing.
Fixed. It seems like it was the headphones that came with the phone. Idk why but a different set does not cause the same problem

vibration doesn't work after tearing down phone

I just ended up replacing my nexus 6 battery since it was on its way out (not holding a charge for very long). I followed this guide: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nexus+6+Battery+Replacement/35878
After tearing down the phone the only real issue I ran into was on step 5 where you're supposed to "unplug the battery connector", mine ripped and didn't come off. But seeing as that was solely for the wireless charging feature I shrugged it off and continued on.
I installed the new battery and it's working just fine but I noticed now my vibration doesn't work, well it does but maybe at 2% capacity. I can BARELY hear a slight buzz when pressing the home button. And I mean a SLIGHT buzz, I can't even feel it vibrate and I have to stick my ear to the speaker to even hear it.
Is there a ribbon I might have disconnected when putting the phone back together? Does anyone know where the vibration motor is or have any ideas?
The vibration motor is mounted directly on the motherboard. The only thing I can think of is maybe the side button assembly has some influence (step 7 here). I doubt it, particularly if the power and volume buttons work as expected after reassembly.
So I tore apart the phone again last night and took a look at the motherboard, I didn't really see anything that stood out to me in regards to the vibration motor and any connections for it. I saw the vibration motor but it looked fine. So I closed up the phone and hooted up and my vibration worked! But I was stupid and forgot to add this rubber piece over a connector. I once again took apart the phone, put on the connector, tightened it back up and my vibration doesn't work again...
I'm wondering if something is getting pinched..
Maybe the battery is not shaped to match the curve of the phone. Often people have to mold it a bit so it's not pushing things apart.

Top loudspeaker not working

I recently got Nexus 6 and noticed that when listen music the top loudspeaker not working, just bottom.
When making and receiving calls i hear everything like it should.
I'm not familiar with this phone, is this normal or it should be playing music from both top and bottom loudspeaker?
Is the top loudspeaker and earpiece the same hardware?
There is only one loudspeaker at the top.
To me it sounds like a software issue. Have you tried a different music player?
Hmm, i use Youtube app, not tried anything else.
Did the factory reset, its the same, loud and clear from bottom loudspeaker, from top nothing.
I'm sure there is the bottom loudspeaker, here is topic about replacement.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/speaker-replacement-t3379395
On my phone, the volume from the top speaker is a bit lower than from the bottom one. But both are active in YouTube.
Which rom do you have on the phone?
What happens when you hold the phone differently while playing. If you hold it with the top to the left, the top speaker should play the left channel, but with the top to the right, the channels reverse.
Rom is stock 7.1.1, not rooted or anything.
I tried to rotate the phone while playing but nothing change, only bottom speaker working, top not at all.
That was the hardware problem.
I disassembled device, it was not so hard because it was already opened in service centre couple months ago, so the adhesive was not that strong.
Removed middle frame, the top speaker is in it.
I checked the speaker with multimeter, and it was ok.
Then I saw the small flat cable where the speaker seats on, and see It is broken somehow (tested with multimeter also).
I had the broken middle housing and managed to peel off the flat cable (very slowly with hear dryer) and replace it.
Now everything working, and the sound is playing from both speakers.
Thanks.
