Bought a Phone that was talked about here - Introductions

Hi Guys. I am Shellshock. The Numbers are there because some dude wrote it first damn it.
I bought a New Phone called Huawei Mate 20 x. Because its a whopping 7.2 Inches baby.
Great Phone. Don't really like the medicore battery life. tbh. But thats just phones these days. Partially my fault as well though Cuz I play games on this phone.
Also I'm trying to be a youtuber. and failing miserably.
Funny thing I actually thought XDA was a Huawei specific website. Cuz I only used it for Huawei Mate 20 x lmao.

And how come it doesn't have more battery than 4200mAh - there should be place enough to double or even triple it: 174.6x85.4x8.4mm

No. And many people here dislike it but it seems to pay some bills...
Are you into flashing ROMs? Might help your battery life... Might even give you some topics for YT: Too often I find either promotional videos or too-simple-minded rants but never balanced testing... therefor I rather stick with letters and numbers (aka written reviews).

I actually used to do written reviews and because of that people told me I should start a youtube channel lmao
On the more technical note people dislike Huawei here? Is there a reason. I don't understand what you mean by pays the bills. How does it pay the bills
I was under the impression that Huawei had blocked access and you cant flash roms or unlock bootloader? Is that not the case anymore?

I dont know... but for me, stopping unlocking (without justification), was a real turn off. By now Huawei has different problems, eh?
As for the ads, gee!, that's so long ago... might be even pre-covid...

Windows Marketplace, will it hurt?

Hey everyone,
I am really concerned about windows marketplace. I suppose it will either help the community here by weeding out certain visitors, or it could lure all the good dev's from here with the promise of getting more than recognition for their work.
Anyone have an opinion?
It always hurts the first time.

And i don't think its going to affect us, i took 1 look at the prices they were charging for the apps and have decided that Marketplace is best left alone.

opps my bad i should really proof read.
I wouldn't worry about it. If anything, it should be useful for the platform and, as such, will benefit us all. For people like myself who flash ROMs quite often Marketplace is useless as it doesn't leave the the cabs and I'll have to redownload stuff every time. For those users who can't spend 5 minutes googling it will be a blessing and therefore will grow the market for WM apps.
What does worry me a bit is not users migrating to MP, but developers.

POLL: How many phones ordered?

This is an attempt to count the Sales of phones Google sold on day one. Lets face it, a good percentage of people who ordered this phone browse these forums......So if you ordered 2 or 3 lets count those as well. All countries included....
How many phones did you buy?
Also if you are one of the ones reselling on Ebay, lets NOT count those....you don't need to identify yourself of course, just remain silent...... So we can add roughly 280 for those......
There's already a thread.
Only 2% of all those that buy nexus use xda lol...but ok 1
I only bought 1 for myself. The profit margin here from reselling does not seem worth it to me for the time and hassle of reselling. Plus I hate wanting something so bad but it being sold out cause of resellers.

Yes, but it is not specific to the amount sold....it only asks if you managed to get 1 or if you got more than 1.....I am attempting to count how many of us were lucky enough to get one.

I honeslty have no clue as to the percentage, but I would think it would be a lot higher than 2% I would guess as much as 60-70% (this purely an UN-educated guess.....and based on the 7-800 pages of "did you get one?" thread.....)

Doubtful - 3 people in my office tried and only one of us got. I'm the only one on XDA. To my knowledge others in the building tried, also not members of XDA. Various people I know were trying to get this, also not on XDA. We're the minority.

Anyone ever consider jumping ship to apple to end the crack flashing. I don't know if this is a problem only I deal with but every time I have an android phone, especially with the nexus, I feel compelled to flash sometimes multiple times a day. Think I have a problem

My answer to Huawei Unlock "Service"

I hope to find support inside the community of all xda-developers. For months I looked at different Top Smartphone models. I have now decided on 01 September for a Huawei P20 Pro. The hardware is convincing.
Shock! they don't give out bootloader unlock code anymore. So the hardware is worthless. My company forbids me to use software with Google or other Cloud applications as a working tool. And honestly, I don't want that either.
So there I am sitting on a 1000 USD expensive piece of ****.
I have made a video where I beat the new beautiful useless piece of dirt with a hammer and burn afterwards.
This is very promotional and recorded with my (rooted) ASUS Phone
Who would like to support me and send videos or post them on Youtube. I make a nice website where all videos are collected and invest another 1000 USD to get on Google at place 1. I need at least 1000 videos
I need your support. Think of something nice to rape and abuse a Huawei Phone. Make a nice movie and show what you think of Huawei.
I have started a contribution on Reddit hoping to find broad support. I have been deceived. worthless hardware and lost a lot of money. :crying:
So you destroyed your phone (that you paid for - and that Huawei already has the money for) to show them.
And you would like others to buy a phone and destroy it. How will that hurt them exactly?
First Nike, then this.. **sigh**
The way you think and what you typed in your post dropped my IQ to zero.. thank you.

The internet is now full of people who feel the same way as I do. Individually Huawei will tell everyone that YOU CUSTOMERS are worth nothing and YOU CUSTOMERS have no rights. Only together are we strong. We need a ****storm.

It is very painful ... Yes.
today a "quick" google search still results in hundreds, if not thousands of instructions how to unlock the bootloader ... that's why I bought this. And now ??
Afterwards one is always smarter.
another Google search results that I am not the only one. I can't imagine that the development community is very enthusiastic about it.
So why didn't you just put it back into the box and sold it as new, unused, just too big for my taste or something? Or if you bought it online, why didn't you just return it as it's not working as you intended? Why destroying the value of the phone and then search for revenge afterwards? Just doesn't make sense.

I live in Southeast Asia in the middle of the jungle. The people here earn as much as this thing costs per year. Sending it back is also not so easy if you bought it in Hong Kong and you come back in 3 months.
Guys, thanks for the advice. But I want to fight. I won't put up with it. Otherwise I could have bought an IPhone. Probably nobody wants that here.

Doesn't particularly bother me because I did my research before purchasing my phone and obtained my unlock code shortly after receiving my device. The company can do what they want. Not everything will please everyone and its not always a smart decision on their part, but research is key when looking into a phone especially when you're wanting to unlock and modify the system. Sucks you were too late to the party, but you'll just have deal with it and the smart decision on your part should have been to sell your device and buy one that pleases you instead of destroying a perfectly good bit of hardware
No unlock code = hardware is worthless
What have you been smoking?

I think it's better to spam Huawei's support's mailbox with a petitions for bringing bootloader unlocking option back.
@DestroyHuawei
Feel for you mate.
You live and you learn.
Huawei stopped this a while back (learning that is, that and unlocking bootloaders)
Next time you commit a lot of money to a mobile device you'll research first.
Research, then research again, its just like anything else, you wouldn't buy a car because it sounded good, you'd want to know the pros and cons.
With that being said..
Where is this video of you beating your phone to death. Id love to see it

MKBHD is THE tech reviewer on YouTube. That's why OnePlus themselves were so happy to be picked.
You may not like his opinion, but A LOT of people (about 7.6 million as of right now) respect it.
