Welcome to XDA! How did your jailbreaking experience go? I've been thinking about jailbreaking my iPad Mini 4 (look at my profile banner). Enjoy the forums, and let me know if you have any questions.

My jailbreaking experience went pretty well actually! I jailbroke mainly to be able to install old games! If you just use the iPad as a secondary device, I would definitely jailbreak it! I think it's really interesting to explore such things! Thank you for the warm welcome you gave me on this forum!

Alright, thanks for the reply! Currently it is just sitting around because the battery life is ~5 minutes. I'll definitely have to try jail-breaking it soon.

Howdy folks...

Just thought I'd introduce myself real quick like.
The names Kjell (say it like shell, but with a German accent) and currently living in Norway. I've lived most of my life in the US though. (Primarily in the south.)
I was a Nokia kind of guy, specifically the 9x series, like the 9000, 9110, e90 etc. (Owned each one at least once.) Then I switched to an old QTec (QTek?) phone a few years ago, and hated it. Went back to Nokia and just last year jumped onboard the horrible iPhone bandwagon. (It's a great phone, just, hate being tied down...)
I bought a used HTC Touch HD last week seeing how I've been eying the HD2 for a couple now. But I'm not sure how I'll like Windows on my phone again. So I'm taking it slow.
But needless to say, I'm quite happy with the HD1. It's got a great screen, it's pretty fast and I enjoy the many, many customization options.
My iPhone is being used as an MP3 player/gaming console for my little one.
I'm thinking about testing out some custom roms for the HD. Anyone got any suggestions? Maybe a rom with the possibility to change your local weather to a non HTC chosen location? (I tried doing this on my own via the XML file, but can't. I'm just not that leet lol.)
Anyways, I've said too much. Thanks for having me.

I love the people at XDA!
Thanks all for the welcome.
I've been looking at the HD roms, going to read up a little about the flashing technique first. Don't want to brick anything.
Welcome and enjoy XDA! Happy Flashing!
Well first off, Welcome to XDA.
As a starter I'd advise you to read the wiki's and stickies for your device.
If unsure about anything feel free post a query in the Q&A forum (generally for each device a Q&A thread has been created for queries) or to contact a moderator for assistance

The 5 Reasons Windows Phone is in it for the Long Haul

Hey guys
Hope all is well
I am an avid Windows Phone user. Love the OS, and the devices. I have written an article that was featured on Yahoo. I just wanted to share it with you guys. Please tell me what you think. Tell me if you agree or disagree with my points. Here is the link
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/8210443/5_reasons_why_windows_phone_7_is_in.html?cat=15

Good post, despite the fact I hate out going hyperlink.I especially like the first reason, cuz my past experience with c# is acceptable,I was messing up with wm6.1 and sql back then.
Still,I am not going to buy a wp7 for now.Cuz I need mass storage, portable hot spot, and real multitask. One more thing I fear is our smartphone is going to end up like our diy pc,if every manufacture is making phones with the same os and same spec, than why manufacture A,not manufacture B?That could bring my editor career to hell

Thanks man, I really appreciate that.
And in Mango SDK it is shipped with my favourite languages, verbal and computer: Visual Basic in Chinese. YAY
Unlike Android and iOS, I can use all my 12 years of learning in VB for my cell.

Good evening everyone :-)

Hello and thank you for letting this old sod join XDA
I'm by no means an expert when it comes to tech but more of an enthusiast although I am the one many of my family and friends come to when needing help and/or technical advice and I even sort out iPhones when a cousin of mine manages to forget her details
I've only ever owned 1 iPhone and that was a iPhone 3 and since then I've been an Android fan when it comes to phones and streaming devices.
I've often delved in and out of XDA when doing any research for gadgets or tech support so at 54 I thought it was high time I signed up.
Cheers.
Pete.

Hello From The Boonies of Idaho!

New to Android tweaks, but not new to computing. I live on 5 acres in southern Idaho, have way too many cars and want to expand my horizons.
Just bought a Samsung A53 and am enjoying the upgrade from a Samsung S7. Yeah, I used it for 7 years. I guess in phone land that's a really long time, but it worked great for me, so I stuck with it. Now I don't know what to do with it's dead carcass.
Anyway, happy to be here and am looking forward to learning something new.
Thank you everyone,
Michael

A long time? You were still carving things in stone! Haha. Welcome to the XDA family!
Thanks for the welcome. At my age, I really was carving things in stone...

Hi 👋

hello!
II's been a long journey , but I'm finally here! I've wanted to be here for quite a while, and I finally made the switch. I've got my first Android after owning a lot of phones, but all iPhones for the last 15 years. The first phone I owned was not an iPhone. It was a small phone that had snake and a space type game built in. I think it was a Nokia and it had an antennae on it. I had an awesome Samsung flip that played music unbelievably well. I had an HTC that came with a stylus. I had a sidekick and a rumour. Oh, but my first gadget was a palm pilot.
I'm here with a new zflip4. It's taking me some time getting used to it, but I'm learning. I love all the customization possible on an Android. I still don't know the difference between "themes" and "launchers" among other things, but I live that I can do so much more on an Android than an iPhone.
I posted question that I'm praying someone can answer. It involves an issue I'm having with settings-display- screensaver. I'm so confused!!
So, that's me, my phones, and why I'm here. I know I'm going to learn a lot here. Thank you for the chance to introduce myself and my zflip4 to all of you!
PS Help!!

Themes are different looks of the device, it changes the icons, color, more.
Launchers are customized versions of the stock launcher with more features added.
