Hi everyone!
After I upgraded my merlinnfc to 13.0.3 (eea stable) the phone became almost useless: apps took many seconds to open, most of them had unexpected delays and/or crashed, etc. I tried to factory reset but nothing changed, so I had to unlock the bootloader and downgrade to 11.0.4. Phone now works great, but I was thinking if there is another MIUI version that works better than 11.0.4, I am open to suggestions
Thanks!
Did you happen to try other versions? I was thinking about downgrading to MIUI 12.5. Maybe MIUI 11 is faster, but I don't want to loose too many important features.

In the past I used 12.5 and I recall it worked fine, problems started with MIUI 13.0.3 and phone became unusable. I tried to downgrade to 12.5 but I experienced bootloops, so I switched to 11: phone is as fast at it should be, some minor bugs sometimes with bluetooth when connected to my car but it's manageable. I'm using MIUI 11 for about three weeks and I'm happy with it, I have basic needs (phone calls, gps navigation, whatsapp/telegram, pictures, banking app, web browsing on trusted sites) so as long as I don't need any feature from newer versions I won't upgrade.

The most stable and fast version is miui 11, 12 is THE WORST, 12.5 is good and 13 is really slow (but has a lot of features). I am using 13 for its features but its only bearable with like 60 magisk modules

Thanks for your suggestion, I'll upgrade to 12.5 only if/when needed. 13 for me was a nightmare, sometimes I had to wait 10+ seconds to get the camera working, making a phone call while using the navigator was painful, and most apps randomly crashed. I didn't try to use any masik module but I hoped to get an update to MIUI 14 until I realized I needed a new phone... so I downgraded

Hey guys!
I'm a very recent owner of Mi 9T Pro (less than 24h remaining until unlock becomes available). I'm also a recent consumer (if that's the right word for it) in the custom ROM scene. About a week ago I decided to check out LineageOS 16.0 on my old (Android 4.4.2) phone, and I was blown away by the performance improvement. It really gave my old device a second wind.
So when it comes to my new Mi 9T Pro, the long term strategy is almost certainly to install the official version of LineageOS 17.0 as soon as it becomes available (if at all and boy do I hope it does). However, since the official release might be (as I understand) several months away, it leaves me with a time window to use some other ROM until then. I've checked out LineageOS 16, 17, HavocOS 2.8, 3.0 & Pixel Experience ROM threads in this forum. It appears they all have some or other issues.
And this is where I was hoping to get a suggestion from you guys. What I'm interested in is the most stable ROM currently available for this phone. To be more clear, I'll illustrate what I mean by "stable":
1) Novelty not required.
It doesn't have to be Android 10 necessarily. Stability > novelty.
2) Most commonly used features take precedence.
I would certainly prefer a lag-less UI and no issues with signal reception over working NFC and Bluetooth audio (all 4 issues seem to appear with some regularity in mentioned threads).
Well, that's basically it, I hope you get the gist of it. If not I'll be glad to clarify further.
Just to be clear, I'm really not looking for a perfect solution where there is none. Just the least painful one. MIUI is not an option.
Thank you!
P.S. Sorry if this is a dup. I only managed to find a handful of outdated questions (~2 months old) which had very little engagement to begin with.
I use crDroid 5.8 (5.9 build does not work with global fw &vendor) and all the android 10 ROMs besides LOS 17 have broken NFC and BT .. And los 17 is also not perfect. Slows down after a while. We just have to wait till every K20 Pro / Mi 9T Pro version gets stable MIUI 11. Right now android 10 is not daily drive ready.
I'm using Résurrection Remix with the same build for over 2 month (the last one), and i dont have any bug.
I'm dtarting to have some troubleshootings after 2-3 weeks and it only require to restart to get fixed.
Also i'm not a big user of the phone so at the end of the day there is 70% battery left!

First of all, thank you for your input!
But what about Android 9 based ROMs like LOS16, Havoc-OS 2.8, Pixel Experience etc.? Wouldn't they be more stable based on the fact that Android 9 was already out (for quite some time) when K20 Pro was released? And also because the developers have simply had more time to iron out the issues?

I have basically tried every rom there is on this forum, and multiple vendors, roms later, i can suggest that EvolutionX, Pixel experience plus (pie are both pretty stable. But they have minor issues. Definitely daily driver material.
But! in my suggestion, if you could stick to a debloated MIUI. It would be hassle free.
Pros for using the stock rom.
Fingerprint sensor works faster
Doesn't break safetynet, so.. google pay support.
widevine L1 in other cases.
And most importantly, the camera functionality doesnt break

Thank you very much for your (somewhat unexpected) suggestion!
To be honest, I hadn't really considered debloating, but I will most certainly look into it. Are there some preferred debloating solutions out there?

Follow the steps in the Removing Bloatwares in Locked/Unlocked Bootloader part of the first post in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/redmi-k20-pro-firmware-10-3-8-0-9-6-13-t3939647
True, MIUI has way faster and better fingerprint recognition than all custom roms. Sadly I hate MIUI look and feel...
If you want to give MIUI a try, install the xiaomi eu ROM, which is pretty clean and without much preinstalled stuff.
Best is not to use the custom ROMs with ALL the features, since those ROMs are more laggy and buggy.
So if custom ROMs, try android 9 based. I will flash android 10 again only after 2-3 builds which use MIUI 11 firmware and vendor, since I do have a global K20 Pro/ Mi 9T Pro and don't want to lose DRM L1 or NFC by flashing IN or CN fw and vendor. Because most android 10 ROMs require MIUI 10 android 10 fw and vendor (and there is no global MIUI 10 android 10 fw & vendor)
So depends after all, how much you hate MIUI.
I flashed a custom ROM because of the following things
clean stock UI
no gapps
better everyday performance

So.. the simple trick is to flash chinese vendor miui 10.3.16..
Mine in an indian unit.. and flashing any vendor except the chinese one gives me some sort of error or bootloop..
So.. my process is..
1- unlock bootloader
2-flash recovery (orangefox or twrp)
3- boot into revovery
4-wipe system
5- flash vendor
6- flash rom (gapps if necessary)
7- wipe cache
8- reboot

I'd suggest you stick to global vendor..
If it doesn't work, then try chinese..
Widevine is not an issue for me.. but you might stream HD content.. so.. look into it..
And i forgot to mention... Always format data before rebooting.. format data is different from wipe data.. keep that in mind..
You should stick to the process.. it should go flawlessly..

I've just received a new Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite (MIUI Global 10.3.1)
is it safe to update to 11.3.4.0 or it's not a stable version?
Update ?: after wasting this whole couple of days searching and reading forums, it seems that all Xiaomi's updates for "Mi 9 Lite" are full of bugs and issues, so I'm going to stick with the old (Global MIUI 10.3.1) Version.
it's the first & the last time i buy a Xiaomi phone. ?
they don't give a sh** about their customers.
As long as you don't update to Android 10 you will be fine.

The last update of MIUI 11 on Android 9 (11.3.9.0 PFCEUXM) has a bug with Netflix (no video, only audio) and with WCG/HDR.
I have MI9 lite, updated to android 10 ( V11.0.1.0.QFCMIXM (MIUI11) ) and 100% working. not usin" Netflix", but "my canal" almost the same, at least drm bug too and now it's ok

I'm using MIUI 11.0.2 (Android 10 with April Google bug fixes) on T-Mobile in the US and VoWiFi and VoLTE are both working great. There are a few bugs, but nothing preventing me from doing anything I need to do. The biggest one I have is file managers (built in and third party) crashing trying to render certain thumbnails.

Yes, I have the same version. My screen looks exactly the same. 11.0.2.0(QFCMIXM) which corrresponds to the global version.
For me miui 12 is better than the older miui 11. Miui 12 have a cool UI design(i hope smooth too)
Here's list of cool improvement MIUI 12
1. New Animation
MIUI 12 supports Android 10’s quick change app gestures. I think some animations are really annoying punch
2. Sumperman
3. Control panel
If you don’t like this style, don’t worry. There is a setting for you to return to the old style. Unfortunately it doesn’t support functional Android notifications in 2 interfaces.
4. Floating Window
This may be the biggest feature of MIUI 12. You can open applications on the screen small and fix them to the corners. In fact, similar features are available on OneUI and Android 10/11. MIUI developers have developed the floating bubble app that came with Android 10 a bit more.
Pull down the application suspension notification and instantly transform into a quick small window. Drag a small window to the side to transform into a small window. Know everything, chat for a day without delay.
I'm pretty scared of it can be laggier than the previous versions...

Because they've used the 20.4.27 build (lagging, a video on Chrome will crash your systemUI, randomly) instead of the 20.4.28 (which has some bugs, random reboot included, but way better than the previous build), i've installed back MIUI 11, actually (13/05/20) the untouched China Beta of MIUI 12 works better than the Xiaomi EU build.

I don't really know, maybe (both are based on China Dev, maybe you can), you'll surely have some apps/services broken, if you're unlucky your device will not boot at all, a clean installation is better (actually a mandatory) in this case, in my opinion.
If you wanna risk and try please report your results here, maybe other users are interested

Yes, i'm a fan of this brand but they're just bad with uodates, i had all of the Mi A series devices (A1, A2 and A3), Android One project from Xiaomi is the worse thing you can actually buy, at least they care about MIUI, but After the Redmi sub brand the situation is terrible, few uodates, slow Major releases, higher prices (device by device, at least in EU), let's see if Xiaomi will be the new Huawei.

sadly 11.0.8.0 does not support Widevine L1 - I had it installed for about 4 weeks now (Battery life is okay, sometimes Rom is a bit buggy). I will return to 12.5.5 again and decide on which one i will stay.

I just tried it yesterday and it is pretty damn good on battery life. Idle battery drain was about 1% after 13 hours, compared to 1% every 45 mins or 1 hour on HavocOS (A11).
I think A10 ROMs are still better optimized for our phone.

About 6-8 hours, depending on what i was doing. Wifi, Bluetoot and GPS always on

Is that 8 hours from 100% down to 0%?
So about 4.8 minutes per 1% drain then?
No rom for this phone works as well as miui 10.3.5 based on android9. All others(stock miui 11,12,12.5 and xiaomi.eu roms) get progressively slower. Xiaomi.eu roms do better than stock but it still does not work as well as 10.3.5
