When I first purchased this phone I was able to boot to the default recovery that came with the phone ( which clearly had a *fastboot option*), it came with stock 5.1, and a bunch of bloatware.
I downloaded the one click root method for the h811 which was perhaps the easiest root i've ever done. great. i also had to flash my recovery to twrp 2.8 for some reason.
Rocked out to a newely rooted device on 5.1 until the t mobile bloatware and system update notification kept bugging me, so I said * eff it, i've been holding out for a while*
So I get to the cm 13 wiki for my device, I managed to install the cm recovery ( cant remember how i did this for some reason) and then i was able to flash cm13 to my phone. CM13 is sleek, and smooth but is presenting problems.
First of all, no google play store and the gapps zip wont install through cm recovery ( fails and tells me to use twrp instead which is a problem because i can't boot this phone into fastboot mode)
I am unrooted and can not figure out how to properly root a T mobile h811 running cm13, so the twrp manager doesn't work because it "requires root" then shuts down. ( enable root access in the cm13 developer options does nothing at all and yes, for adb and apps)
FAST BOOT MODE DOES NOT SEEM TO EXIST ANYMORE ON MY PHONE - Following the many tutorials, which goes long the lines of using adb/fastboot, adb devices can see my device, but fastboot devices can't ( figures) because its not in fastboot mode. Any fast boot reboot bootloader or any variant of that command only reboots the phone, to... swipe the screen.
I've installed the lg bridge crap ( which installed an updated usb driver) that doesn't even recognize my phone " no mobile device connected". tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but nothing. When putting the phone in download mode, to see if adb would rcognize it, windows sees this as a new device , installs drivers but says " device can not start, code 10 * in device manager. :silly:
is there anything that can be done?? google searches result in obvious solutions that SHOULD work but don't, or threads where a person coincidentally has the same exact problem as I do, but their response is usually the last response in the thread that goes unanswered
summary : I've install cm13 on my lg g4 h811, I do not have root access, I can not install twrp due to ( no fastboot mode) in effect, i cant install gapps, cant root phone etc..
any help?
did you ever unlock the phone....?
Yes, unlocking the phone is one of the first things you would need to do. In Developer Options > OEM Unlock. Then in bootloader, run the unlock command. This will delete /data and internal storage so back up your files so you can transfer them back via adb or fastboot.
Then you're probably going to need to temp boot TWRP, then flash the TWRP recovery image in TWRP. THEN you can flash properly.
Carefully read through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/stock-h811-20i-images-kdz-flashable-t3308227
Good luck.
Edit: oh and this thread belongs in Q&A.
Alright. Am I only to read the first post or all 30+ pages? ( not that i have a problem, just curious)
Reeeeaaadd ittt alllll! Just kidding. The first post should be fine. You'll be looking at doing everything after flashing the kdz. If you think you've messed up your partitions, flash the kdz and start over.

"ARE YOU HAVING TROUBLE WITH LGUP NOT SEEING YOUR MOBILE?
Try this....... take the back off your mobile so you can get at the battery. Connect your mobile via USB. Start LGUP, if it does not see your phone DO NOT DISCONECT, DO NOT RESTART OR TURN OFF LGUP. Take out the battery and then put it back in.......let the phone restart on its own. LGUP should now see it."
didn't work, very frustrating. any clues? on windows 8.1 by the way. tried two computers. none can see this phone. I can connect the phone to the computer and see its storage, lg usb driver is installed
You probably need to reinstall the drivers. It might be the fastboot driver. That's what worked for me.
I've reinstalled the official drivers, uninstalled them... Jusst the mobile USB driver, a combo of both, plenty of times. Don't understand why this software doesn't see my phone
Lgup, lgair, lg bridge, lg USB driver (skinned down) .. Nothing works tested on my gaming rig., and work laptop both running win 8.1 64 bit

Anyway I feel that the 811 is one of the more finicky devices to get into fastboot at least in my experience. I had to enable and disable dev options while plugging and unplugging device and it finally worked. No idea if that'll work for everyone though.
I reasked the question in Q and A. Please help some one.
You start over. LG bridge.
Having the same issue. I'm on Windows 10. What developer settings did you mess with to get it working, tiskewlio?
The issue i seem to be having is that when I put the device in download mode ( didnt know that is the same as fastboot) drivers attempt to install, "LGE MTP USB DEVICE" has a yellow exclamation mark with a code 10-device cannot start error message. I believe this the issue as any fastboot command stuff says " waiting for any device" . must not yet see the mtp driver .. Also noticed the bridge app immeditaley tries to pick up my device in download mode but fails due to this problem..
Any clues?

silly question maybe, but is there a specific tutorial in getting this to work with the files provided given my situation? (commands, etc..) will this somehow bypass the the lge mobile mtp device that wont install ? I had installed the system wide adb/fastboot drivers, and already had a folder with just the minimal install of the adb but didnt have a few files in the one you provided ( lg root, busy box, etc) so not quite sure what to do with them.
Again, if possible want to flash twrp recovery to my device but can't due to * waiting for any device* and the ( device cannot start ) error
Thanks
* waiting for device* when putting phone in download mode and pushing fastboot flash twrp-2.8.7.1-h811.img.
Any help would be appreciated as I need to get the driver to work first. see attached picture.
Cha h
the issue is largly resolved as i've been able to flash the recovery and install another rom. But i'd still like to know how to get the download mode driver properly working in the event i need a computer and can't do a self contained install.
Uninstall all drivers. Reboot computer. Reinstall latest drivers and LG bridge. Reboot. Then start your process. It'll work. Trust me. Find my posts in primes stock thread. I ran into this issue myself. And if you get an error after flashing where it won't mount /data, that's because it got corrupted. Once in twrp, format /data then reboot to recovery. All will be well to flash. Just a heads up since that was also a problem.

i dont know man, i did all that a million times over, but recently i was able to just flash the stock MM rom to the device using LGup. Think i'll just stick with stock rom and root for a while as all this stuff is a little finicky at times. Thanks for your help.
Hey there,
I wanted to install a custom recovery on my MI8, I"m currently on MIUI Global 11.0.5.0 QEAMIXM, bootloader unlocked
I have tried several tutorials, such as:

https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-twrp-recovery-xiaomi-mi-8/

everytime I reboot into fastboot, fastboot on my laptop doesnt recognize my phone, I mean if I type in "fastboot devices", it just isnt there, but adb recognizes my phone and also reboots into fastboot per command line....I just dont know what to do - I also used the all in one tool version 2, after reboot it just waits for my device which is already in fastboot..I just dont understand what I am doing wrong
I installed all needed USB drivers, my laptop recognizes my phone in device manager, everything is as it should be (also enabled ADB debugging on my phone)
If I type the command to flash recovery.img, it just get stuck there and nothing happens...
It is a very strange behaviour and I am sick of it right now - wasted the last three hours for this :crying:
Maybe someone could help?
Also I have several questions regarding finding the right ROM for my phone - I want MIUI 12 without any bloatware from XIAOMI, also want Viper4ANDROID if it is still a thing - also where I can read for some information regarding magisk? I never used it and I have no idea how it works, I just remember some things from my previous phones, such as Samsung Galaxy S5 or HTC EVO 3D, but this time it is all different...
I would be really thankfull, if someone could help me out
Hey together,
I bricked my phone, since I flashed the preloader.bin with ""SP_Tool" it does not boot anymore,
whether in device manager nor in other programs it is detected now.
I already had problems with installing "TWRP".
Maybe it all begun when Ifull wiped the device just after it [in recovery], what resulted in a bootloop.
Booting in recovery and fastboot was possible, but the touchscreen did not work anymore in recovery; multiple times i tried to install different roms and versions of "TWRP" via fastboot without success, but even this option is gone.
Is somebody out there who knows if it is possible to install a rom or at least boot the phone via edl again? [I have an authorized mi-account]
I know the two points [TM & ID] I have to connect, it seems to be simple but I am not sure if i do it right, at least my computer does not detect the phone.
And finally I created a little spark when I lost the grip with the paperclip i used to connect the two points, hopefully that was not the final deathsentence for the phone, but i do not think so may you can help me?
Best greetings!

As redmi 9 is mtk based device so their is not any edl point...if you have authorized account then you can easily flash it without the device open
Just use older preloader.
Do you need help with your MERLIN device ?
Read this FAQ: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...for-merlin-redmi-10x-4g-redmi-note-9.4225177/
That I have an authorized account was a wrong information.
When I try to flash it with sp_tool the following error is displayed: STATUS_CRC_BROM_FAIL 0xC0060005

Hello there.
Just like title says - I've got my hands on new Redmi 9 (lancelot) nfc 4/64 version. I've unlocked it from Mi stuff successfully yesterday and wanted to install there twrp, magisk and titanium backup to clean a bit and maybe to have foundations for further change of rom.
However, my phone gaves answers, that I do not understand correctly.
Firstly - after first instalation of twrp via adb it booted into this. However, after choosing option to boot to system from it, power off via ui and then another try to enter recovery...it gave me stock miui recovery again. When I've tried the same steps for second time, phone finished, but after restart it entered bootloop. I've followed steps from this guide - https://miui.blog/redmi-9/download-install-twrp-and-root-redmi-9-codename-lancelot/
After some time I've managed to make low-level rom instalation again (12.0.4 official lancelot rom, dated 31st of Mar, 21) to at least being able to communicate with it (done with usage of miflash 2018 version and rom in *.tgz file). This time, I've used help from this page - https://www.getdroidtips.com/guide-flash-miui-rom-xiaomi-devices/ - had some troubles with mediatek based phones before in my life, so it wasn't from scratch, but some time to understand it were needed.
Phone is working again, but this rom is based on Android 10 (which I would like to keep, if it won't cause too much trouble). And I think because of that fastboot mode changed now into fastbootD mode, where old commands from adb does not recognize the device, thus no flashing recovery action etc can be taken.
Is there a workaround here? I've stumbled across some articles about installing clean Generic System Image with Android 10 on this phone (since it has been released with android greater, than number 8), but again - this requires to have custom recovery, prefeably twrp. I cannot do anything about it, because I got back to stock recovery (which now at least works, yesterday phone was so twisted at one point, that he cannot even load this recovery, but somehow managed to open system and fastboot modes normally (!!!)).
Is there a way to work it out? Older miui version, older android version, then twrp, then update via twrp? Or an alternative method, since google changed something in partitions again (not sure, if I get it right, but it might be it)? I would actually like to stay somewhere around miui (at least let it be official with ota support without too much issues), but without twrp I cannot do anything. I also do know, that there aren't any official twrp/pbrp yet (just betas). Could it also be the issue with troubles with installing it and staying it on the phone?

After to flash TWRP you have to flash the vbmeta.img and then boot to TWRP not through commands but manually with hardware buttons, don't allow device to boot to system before to boot to custom recovery otherwise this will be overwritten again.
I've done that with this vbmeta, one and only difference might be that I was trying to get into twrp by commands (however, it did not work XD). Overwritten isn't an issue in my opinion, since I do have booted to recovery after installing it yesterday and then from it choose option "reboot to system". After poweroff from system and then trying to get into recovery, then stock showed.
I'm currently trying this - https://c.mi.com/oc/thread-3312019-1-0.html
After putting this command to cmd - bcdedit /set testsigning on lancelot shows somewhere, but I cannot install it (most likely due to this issue about encrypted drivers). I'll try to overcome it now.
Yea, well, I've tried this method from link listed above, phone still enters fastbootd mode, still is not-visible from cmd started from google platform tools folder (which a subfolder to working adb). Not sure what to do now.

No, this is not the method to boot to recovery from what I pointed out, you don't have to firstly power off device but from fastboot commands you can type either fastboot or fastbootd reboot and inmediately press the volume up till the TWRP logo appears, the fastboot/d command will act same as it be the power button.
The thread explains how to install unsigned drivers in Windows, not to set it on your Redmi but is for your PC. If you succesfully get the drivers installed then you have to reboot your PC entering again in safe mode (not normal mode) and from there the commands through fastbootd are generally the same than those for fastboot.

Just to be sure you are doing fine and not missing something the adb commands work while device is on and fastboot/d commands work only in fastboot mode.
Can you attach some SS to see what you are typing and the error that brings the cmd?
Hm, you say, that I can type fastbootd into cmd and this will be recognised? It seems that it cannot be recognised in this case, when I'm trying to type fastbootd powershell says "unknown command".
Typing fastboot /d devices results in "waiting for device", despite phone being in fastbootd all the time.
I'll attach ss tomorrow - it is time to sleep for me now, gotta wake up early. Then we will also know something else, when it comes to behavior after restart pc (once again, I've done it all in one sit, it might be an issue here).
PS. if you want english errors, I'll have to use powershell - cmd is in my native language (polish). Found out, that it doesn't really matter, which program you use, powershell simply can do more, while cmd dates back 30 years or so.
Anyway - phone is still booting to miui 12 and android 10 normally, I do not set there google acc or lock yet, so don't know if there's any issue with it (most likely no).
I've also stumbled across some dude from indonesia, who had the same phone, miui 12.0.1 with android 10 and he installed successfully twrp, then magisk, but he also put some small img - misc misc.img. Could it be the issue?
I'm giving link to this material on YT -
FROM WHAT I SEE IN THE THUMBNAIL, this version of twrp is even the same (code number and english translated from chinese), that once worked here (md5 of the file might be different, though).
There's also an option to reinstall again whole adb, platform tools, drivers from official miunlock app etc, but since I do not had ANY android-related problems on this pc with previous phones, I'm not sure if this is worth our time.
And I think that if I would misspell something in cmd program would give me error instantly, instead of behaving like it was nothing - i've made tons of errors before and cmd/powershell always informed me about it in first line of their texts.

Yes, fastboot works normally while in cmd, this is intended for that, no problem to enter firstly toi Power Shell but you can switch to cmd from PS just typing cmd and all the commands from here will be for cmd, doesn´t matter at all how many old is, cmd can work inside PS keeping the same aspect.

You don't need to reinstall nothing, just from the downloaded SDK platform do all that you want to avoid misspelling path and folder directories, I mean place the files you need to use in the same directory and open terminal prompt (PS) in the same folder where adb/fastboot binaries are, pressing right mouse button and shift at same time.
I feel you are missing something simply here, not so hard to do.
The misc.img partition that you mentioned is just to restore something that went wrong in the process.
But if you are happy with this Miui ROM then great. No hurry to answer that, give your time to rest.
I also feel, that there is something simply to overcome, Only the fastbootd is new Stuff to me. However, any time I was doing something with Snap, i was long after finish by the current time (almost a month with It and 3rd day with fastbootd issue).
I don't get it. Now when I've tried to enter fastboot mode...phone entered it (fastboot, not fastbootD). Then I've installed pitch black recovery and sucessfully booted into it by restarting phone and then pressing vol up. Now I'm trying with magisk and another entry to pbrp.
Second try gave me stock recovery again. What is wrong with it XD?
something is wrong. Installing twrp resulting in nothing (stock recovery is still there), installing pitch black resulting in successfully boot into new recovery. However, this recovery does not see any zip (magisk zip, to be exact, that I've put there before it to root phone). After boot into system and then power it off to boot into recovery...phone boots into stock recovery. Should I downgrade system to miui 11 to be able to get over it? Or should I wait until miui 12.5 enters redmi 9?
My tries of installing it has been done by using cmd with admin rights, if it does make any difference.

I think you are not following the right direction, if you want consider what I pointed out; you don't have to power off device prior to boot to recovery for first time but you have to type from fastboot (no matter fastbootd) and inmediately from there boot to the custom recovery, when you succesfully booted to custom recovery then flash the recovery zip if there is one (PBR and OFR have one) and if not a zip then flash the image again to the recovery partition, also check if there is some installer apart from the image that can fix it in the ramdisk partition, at this point your issue is solved, next step is to reboot device to system normally, if you don't have any issue on that then OK but if you can´t there some steps more that you should do, but let this for last.
Ok, let's group it.
I do not think that particular matter of how do I restart phone matters here (at least, I do not believe it, that it does anything).
Option to restart to recovery from adb still not working.
Trying to find magisk.zip in main directory of internal storage still fails under pitch black recovery project.
From new stuff - I now got an error message, while opening pbrp, most likely with the issues about system being read-only (not sure though, since I do not remember it now, might look into it once more). I have the options to mount partitions, available from main menu, but since I do not used it at all before, I do not know, how to deal with it.
Also - my system boots normally, it must have overwritten recovery (or at least header of it) sometime during boot, since custom recovery is unavailable to access after first full reboot.
I'll try now to install newer version of twrp from yt that I've posted days back. I would also try with orange fox (however, i cannot find img for it, just source code, don't get it).
Is there someone, who can and will to help me?
Situation looks this - on this 12.0.4 MIUI with android 10 I'm unable to install ANY recovery (either phone do not restart to recovery after proper command from cmd or it boots into it, but after visiting system and then to recovery again it shows stock (even without any operations or updates from ota).
I cannot force to work either twrp 3.4.2b, twrp 3.5.2, pitch black recovery 3.0.0 beta.
After trying to install magisk 21.4 zip from twrp 3.4.2b phone entered bootloop, because f**k you, user, I cannot even get it to fastboot mode now (btw, fastboot now works, fastbootD is luckily a long-gone crap).
All cmd's have been run with admin rights. There are NO SUCH THING, as misspelling (cmd and adb would not execute command ,if it is misspelled, either command or filename). I've installed drivers once again and used cmd from dedicated folder with adb fastboot portable version (runned as admin, of course).
Now I'm downloading older version of rom for fastboot (miui 11.0.9) with android 10. Something has to finally work on this piece of junk.
Writting each time is success (cmd says "OKAY" nad displays time, it took to do so), downloading recovery image to start from it also works, there aren't any errors in cmd, yet phone still isn't working.
Where's the issue with it? Apart from being mediatek, which seems to somehow enormously hardened any flashing? I did not encounter anything like this with qualcomm, yet mediatek still manages to pisses me off with their really weird implementations and working (???) of their stuff.
another update from battlefield. Managed to finally get mediatek verify bypass in smart phone flashing tool, however it ended with forcing me to format anything in the phone (if not, program would not let me install anything).
Second problem is forcing me to disable verify, yet command fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img put in fastboot mode (yes, it works now) does not work, because adb says, that "--disable-verity" is not a recognised command.
SPFT cannot properly download images from phone and welcomes me with error about download exception, happening either in recovery part or in boot part. SInce I do have access to fastboot now, I can overcome it (I think).
Old miflash tool to install roms via fastboot says it cannot flash rom in locked stage (I might have lost unlocked status, but I'm not sure about it). Do you know ways to overcome it?
It is me again (inb4 use edit). Had to unlock phone again by using miphone unlocker (it went ok). Still cannot flash using SPFT, miflash started showing idiotic errors like "no file in directory" or "cannot access to directory" (it could before, I did not changed name of it). Will continue reporting of progress (or the so-called "progress").
Welp, first day of owning the OnePlus Ace and I've already bricked it lmao. Need some help in trying to unbrick it.
So last night I successfully rooted my device using magisk, but after experimenting I just decided to revert back to being unrooted, since I realised I didn't actually need many of the functions root allows. Derooted using Magisk, checked that it was unrooted, then went into fastboot mode to re-lock the bootloader. Did so, restarted and I was presented with the dreaded "The current image (boot/recovery) have been destroyed" error screen and endless bootlooping. I cannot access fastboot mode or recovery mode with button combinations, tried holding Vol + and power, Vol - and power but no dice. I believe I ended up bricking because I forgot to flash the stock vbmeta.img before locking the bootloader.
I've made some progress in getting to the MediaTek Emergency Download Mode (which I believe is also either called BROM or Preloader) in order to flash a stock rom. I found out that holding down both Vol + and Vol - at boot will enable this emergency download mode for a few seconds, before going to the destroyed boot/recovery error screen. The issue is, while I've managed to get the phone detected by my computer in this state in COM5 as a 'MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM_V1632 (Android), none of the programs said to flash a stock rom will detect it. I've tried mtk_client, mtk bypass tool, SP Flash, even regular fastboot and adb tools, but none of them will detect the device, even though Windows does.
The only smart thing I did was refraining from transferring all of my files from my old phone to this one, so luckily I've got a phone to fall back on. Basically, until I find a fix, the Ace will have to stay in it's box makes me wish I never messed with root in the first place lmao. And because I imported the phone there's no warranty and no service centres for OnePlus in my country that can help.
Anyone have any ideas for how I can get the phone detected in these applications? Is it an issue of the SoC not being supported yet by these programs because it's relatively new? Are there any alternate ways to get to the fastboot menu? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Update: If someone would be able to extract a scatter file from their own OnePlus Ace too, I think that may help me
Sorry that you've ran into this, but thanks for confirming bootloader can be unlocked, and root is possible.
Getting the 10R over the Realme GT 2 (sad situation of bootloader unlock not possible). Hope you get an extract soon
Made some progress!
Got my hands on the Ace's firmware files, which included the scatter file. Redownloaded the newest 6.2 version of SP Flash Tool and loaded the scatter and auth files successfully. Clicked download, connected USB to phone while holding Vol + and Vol - and finally! Sp Flash Tool connected to the phone! However, now I've run into another problem: SP Flash Tool will show a red progress bar at the bottom saying 'Download DA', it will reach 100% quickly then throw me a very vague error simply saying 'error_msg'. And that's it. Tried unchecking different boxes, reinstalled drivers but it will always throw back this error.
Any ideas to figure out what the error is and fix it would be amazing
hello, im here to show support. My ace also bricked because i want to change from color os to oxygen. I used fastboot enhanced, might have missed a step and bricked. Mine also import, but the shop i bought offers 1 year warranty. Shop says have to wait for msm download tools to reflash or i have to pay $60 to send back to China because my own fault. Man, it is going to be a long wait for msm tools. haha

Tried this method, but didn't work. Kept giving me a "Handshake failed: retrying" error when connecting the phone to the computer.
Here's a link the the firmware: OnePlus Ace Firmware

maybe this is because of the new chip and there is no support for bypassing it.I thought the method would work.also a tip-edit the scatter file, namely partition_name: super or system, changing the value is_download: false to is_download: true.hopefully help
And thank you for sharing the files
I too am stuck with Brick.
Is there a Bypass for the Demesity 8100 being developed?
This device is mostly Oppo, but there is no Oppo flash Tool?
There is very little information available.

Unfortunately not yet, the most promising option will be to wait for an MTK Auth Bypass utility to be developed for the Dimensity 8100 chipset. There might be active development on this front, so hopefully it will come soon.
The other option would be to find someone to do a remote flash, someone who has official Oppo/OnePlus flashing software and an account to use it. I believe I've found the official firmware to flash the phone in this state, however you need credentials to log in to it and access it. I think it will also specifically have to be Chinese credentials, as India login details may not allow you to flash a OnePlus Ace model. I tried to get someone over at (<Moderator Edit>: unallowed site name removed) to do a remote flash, and he couldn't because he had India credentials, but not Chinese credentials

Oh. I had OnePlus 7 previously, there were few ways to flash stock firmware. The common one was MSM Tool, other one was Fastboot enhance.
But few times I flashed stock firmware manually like payload dump payload.bin and flash partitions manually from fastboot. Maybe this could work.

I seem to have made fastboot inaccessible on my device, so I've been unable to use Fastboot enhance or utilise any ways to flash using fastboot
Damn!! I hope you find some way to fix your device. Good luck.

Hello. after unlocking the bootloader I have the message "Orange State. OS Not Being Verified Or Custom OS. Dismiss After 5 Seconds." but the system booted up. After uploading boot.img, the phone got stuck in bootloop. Unfortunately, the guide above did not help.

Yes. I can flash files in cmd and FastbootEnhance but in practice it looks like they were not saved.

So you are not able to boot right?
If not, you can try flashing the partitions manually from fastboot. (If you are willing to try I can provide the steps. This works for other OnePlus devices.)
