Hi, i am trying to see if it's possible to flash SM-N950U (ATT firmware) onto the TGY (Hong Kong dual sim) SM-N9500?
If the TGY is 64G RAM, then i am guessing everything is the same except dual sim internally, so should I just be able to flash the stock ROM?
How about if the TGY is 256G RAM? having different RAM size could be problem, I am guessing.
I don't know much about these except i can follow step-by-step instructions quite well.
Thanks in advance.

1. I'm not sure how you plan to do this - Odin won't let you flash other devices or even different variants of the same base model so you will need to use TWRP and a flashable ZIP
2. Not sure about the Snapdragon models but the Exynos models are all identical hardware - IE my Korean N950N still has 2 SIM slots even though it is not sold as a dual-SIM phone.
3. You mean storage, flash memory, not RAM. All the Note 8's have 6GB RAM. As for the question - it shouldn't matter. I've used N950F ROMs (which I believe are all 64gb capacity so far) on my 256gb N950N and I still had the full amount of storage available.
That's an excellent question. I have an unlocked SM-N950W with Telus firmware but I would like to flash it using Rogers firmware.
Does anyone know if this is possible via Odin?
this thread is interesting! that's a question i'm looking for too ! because my Note8 is 64GB , Model SM-N9500 and i'm looking to anybody help to flash to SM-N95xx in USA
I am looking to know if that's possible too. I am planning to purchase a N9500 model and wanted to know if I can flash any other country's firmware on it without tripping knox or routing. My reason is to be able to use samsung pay in my country.
Also, what is the reason for other people here trying to flash different firmware?
Was anyone ever able to get it done? I have a n9500 Hong Kong version, dual sim, 256gb and i’d like to flash it to be able to get everything running on it like Wi-Fi calling and other features. Got this version because I’d like to have the dual sim for traveling and the 256gb for lots of storage. I’m originally on AT&T.

Odin won't let you flash firmware for another model, but if you root you can flash ROMs for identical hardware (IE on the Exynos versions the 950N Korean models can run 950F-based flashable zip ROMs just fine because both 950N and 950F are identical hardware).
The main thing as far as features go would be band support on the modem, as I understand that the N9500 and N950U are both Snapdragon models I would assume you guys can run 950U-based ROMs, but I have no idea about the 9500's LTE bands support in relation to AT&T (I'm on T-Mobile so they are the only USA carrier I was concerned with when I opted for the N950N).

Can I update the firmware of N950F into SM-N950U?
If it matters I've been flashing crazy this past few week due to OEM issue, AFAIK as long as you flash the correct HOME_CSC,CP for your variant everything else should work as intended (exynos firmware=exynos firmware ONLY). I got a N950X but rockin with a N950F firmware (BRA8/BTU) since I got my phone original from UK.
AP: is your system partition with recovery and stuff.
BL: your bootloader
CP: your modem
CSC: this is what features you get in some countries or carriers like Wi-Fi Calling.

I'm basically asking the same question here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/flash-sm-n950u-to-sm-n9500-t3772085
Just flash system partition it will boot at least when I flashed n9500 on my n950u
I wouldn't recommend it as the modem drivers maybe different. As Carrier branded devices may have their own specific modem install rather than the one found on other variants.

Prince Comsy ODIN?
Is it possible the other way? I mean is it possible to flash n9500 rom on n950u unlocked? I need the dual sim function and my device is n950u.
Hello Everyone.
I Have a Galaxy Note 8 SM-N9500 (Hongkong) 256gb model running on snapdragon 835. The CSC for other countries are not available in samfirware for this very model.
Can i install csc from SM-N950F running exynos having multiple CSC. Or and other us based rom like SM-N950U1 running on snapdragon?
Thank You in advance.
You should be able to install other Snapdragon-based Note 8 ROMs, but I'm not 100% sure if the hardware is all identical between the 9500 and the 950U. CSCs are not device-specific or hardware-specific so you can technically use one from really any recent model of Touchwiz-based Samsung phone.
Hey guys,
I bought the 256GB factory unlocked emperor edition Note 8 from South Korea, but it is still tied to all of SK Telecom's (SKC region code) services, I want to switch it to my local Canadian carrier's CSC, Fido (FMC), without rooting. How do I go about accomplishing this?
Thanks in advance.
Can't. It only has the 3 main South Korean carriers CSC loaded, SK Telecom, kt Olleh, and LG U+. You can use the stock CSC app to switch between those 3 but it will wipe the phone when you switch that way.
Because the CSCs are on the /system partition there is no way to change them to have different/extra providers than what are possible on a given device without root. Since the N950N is only in South Korea, there are no stock Odin-flashable firmwares for it other than South Korean firmware from each of those providers. N950F is released in many countries around the world, so they have more options since Odin will let them flash any N950F firmware from any provider/country since the model is exactly the same, but there are no other options for N variants.

Thanks for the clarification. I just checked Updato for the list of providers the SM-N950F supports, and it appears there's still no Canadian CSC variant out of the 500+ available:
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?exact=1&q=SM-N950F
So, rooting seems to be the only option for getting a 256GB Eyxnos Note 8 to work with Carriers here in Canada, oh well....
Is there a 256GB variant of the SM-N950F? Or is this SM-N950FD variant also compatible with all them SM-N950F CSCs?

Yeah there won't be a Canadian CSC for an F variant because the Canadian variant is W I believe.
I have not seen a 256gb F/FD variant, but as far as i understand they are the same model as far as Odin is concerned. I have seen posts of a Hong Kong model that is 256gb but I think it is a 9500 which is Snapdragon, and the only other 256gb model is my N950N Korean variant (which is Exynos, and happens to be identical hardware to the F variant which is handy for ROM use).
How can I root and change my N950N CSC to the Chinese version which is CHC.
Hello, I've bought G781B/DS. I think it's the UAE version (Snapdragon, dual sim). Should I only flash G781B fws? Is there any international version?

im unaware of the existence of an international version, but on all previous galaxy models with different carrier versions, all snapdragon firmwares were cross compatible with all snapdragon equipped phones. I had a UAE market A8 and i flashed the Spain, France, Germany and Canadian versions on it.
Hi,
I have Galaxy S21 Ultra (G998N Korean) I was wandering if I can flash the international version G998B firmware on it ( they are identical )?
Since the SM-G998N is now a Exynos variant, it may be possible but why create a conflict between the new FW and your Primary CSC which can't be altered? The FW in all Samsung variants are structured for their specific CSC. The FW's are definitely not identical and doing so it will likely affect call features and possibly other functions.

Well I tried and failed, Odin got stuck on flashing VBMETA so I had to restore original firmware.
