Widevine Level

Hi all,
I'd be so grateful if any of you could check the Widevine DRM security level of Honor Play.
PS. You can install this app (DRM info) from Google Play to get the DRM info.

First of all thank you so much for your prompt reply.. Great to know that honor play widevine level is level 1 .. It Wil also be nice if you could attach screen shot for that info from the drm info app.

The wideVine level is L3 unfortunately.

Many thanks dear, that's exactly the right one .. really appreciate your help.
This means that Honor play can stream HD videos from online services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO...etc. :good:

What is this, why is there such a difference? Both are the same devices with just a different model number & why does AL00 not have L1?

Got my Honor Note 10 yesterday and checked that Widevine is Lvl 1, but I’m gutted to say that Netflix only shows in 540p and not HD.... ?

Mine is COR-L29 but with widevine L3 after update to 9.0. Before the update it can play Netflix HDhttps://imgur.com/a/k8hSV7D

I have Widevine security level L3 before and after Android Pie update.

CoR L29 (C185) had L1 before this beta update on emui. Now it is L3

Already contacted honor support. Still no reply from them

COR L29. Widevine is on L3 and performance mode is not present. I hope Huawei comes up with something soon.

Chinese variant user here. Just purchased recently. I didn't know it comes with L3 certification instead of L1. Should have bought the global version. ?

same here bought x2 Chinese version, now dying to convert in global version don't even know can it be done or not or even will get l1 even if i can... ??

ColorOS 6.1 RMX1991_11_A.13 update

If your phone has locked bootloader, you can get OTA update of ColorOS with December security patch.
Download size is 249MB.
For non-mainland China residents VPN service is needed for initial update detection. When the update is detected, no VPN needed for downloading.
As VPN service you can use Android app Panda VPN free, in which after installation select any Mainland China VPN server and choose free option (you will have to watch one video Ad and then you have 1 hour time usage).

And the good news: the fingerprint sensor now works!!!

They say it is for Game Space. I personally do not use it at all, but the update really makes good difference for power consumption in the sleep mode and I now have fingerprint working

I got bootloop as I flashed the magisk patched fo A12 bofore you update the post. Somehow I managed to recover from bootloop. Now I am again back to A12. Means, I lost the ota update and A13 also uspended .
But Happiness is my fingerprint sensor is working though I got back from A13 to A12 with unlocked bootloader.

Rooted S10 series with Magisk and Widevine L1 achieved?

Has anyone here with S10 series (S10 / S10e / S10+) obtained root with Magisk and also got Widevine L1 so can play Netflix (and others) in HD ? Just wanna make sure before I go all the way with rooting

Idk what you are talking about but my S10 is rooted and Netflix, says that the resolution is full HD.

You wouldnt mind:
1. Download DRM Info app on Play Store and check the Widevine security level?
2. In Netflix, go to App Settings -> Playback Specification and check the Widevine?
Should be L1 on both.
FYI it stands for Google's Widevine DRM platform which is used on most streaming services like Netflix, Amazon... to prevent unauthorized distribution. It has something to do with TEE and/or TrustZone. More here: https://www.androidauthority.com/widevine-explained-821935/

First of all, sorry for the late response. Second of all, I did the things you asked me to do and in the DRM Info app, it says that the security level is L1, and in Netflix, it also says Widevine: L1. I'm on a rooted S10 running stock firmware in case you were wondering.

Relock Widevine L3 to L1

Good day to all. Can anyone confirm if widevine L1 is recovered on the ff scenarios:
1. If the unlocking process is the ASUS unlocking tool then relocked using fastboot?
2. If EDL method is used for unlocking then relocked?

I'm looking for the same answer. But from the historical threads that you can find in this forum, it doesn't look like...

So I guess widevine is lost completely even when you unlocked it with the official app?

Haha. That is why I am so hesitant to unlock my bootloader. I think on other phones like One Plus, L1 is recovered after relocking. Am I right?

I would'nt count on it. Phone is 6mos old. I am sure they are putting all their effort into future phones.

To many users, the uncertainty of being able to restore L1 after relock, was preventing them from jumping into the Custom ROM scene.
