Dead screen when trying to end the call - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I have a sim-unlocked T-Mobile HD7 that I've upgraded to latest 8107 some time ago via cab-sender.
Officially T-Mobile doesn't support 7720+ afaik.
The only problem that I have is that the screen remains black after I take the phone away from my face/ear. Also the screen automatically goes black when I hit dial although it's not near my face/ear.
Is anyone know how can I fix this?
I had this stupid bug on a intermediate build before Mango on an unlocked HD7, but when the official ROM for HD7 come out, it was solved. Now I'm stuck again with it...
Kind regards,
Alex.

mine has exactly the same problem
I loaded ansar's Newtech 8107 ROM and then deepshining v7.3 ROM (also 8107) which I still have.
I have noticed that the 2 ROMs have attentive phone embedded - settings, scroll down to see attentive phone.
Attentive phone uses the light sensor a lot, and if you have a case for your phone slide it out a bit and the screen will light up when you are on a call.
The light sensor is to the left of the htc logo on the screen, and if you cover that area it thinks you have put it to your ear or pocket and switches off the screen.
I tried disabling all options in attentive phone, and would like to know how to uninstall the app but there is no option from settings.....anyone?

If you sideload an older attentive phone xap. One that installed in the app list you might be able to uninstall it from there. Works for advanced config.

When i got this problem , i just lock the screen and unlock again, always can awake the touch function.

[q] htc hero broken touchscreen

My HTC Hero has various touchscreen problems among others. The main problem is the touch sensors do not work properly. I have to reboot the phone to get it working for a small while (roughly 10 minutes) before the screen craps out and does some very weird things:
It thinks I am constantly touching the top region of the screen
The touch sense overloads, meaning it senses the presense of anything around it. It is the weirdiest thing I have ever seen. I can hover my finger over the screen and it will allow me to control the touchscreen.
None of the other areas of the screen are functional except for the top, and whenever I touch the screen the Notigcations bar would come down. Sometimes this isn't the case and the phone just doesn't do anything upon touching the screen.
The battery life is very low.
Bootinf the phone takes a lot more time than when I first bought it, this is somewhat understandable however, having gone through many operation system changes.
I've lost all hope.
Buy one of these and replace the screen...

Are you running stock HTC Sense? Before I rooted and installed CM I had a huge problem with the stock Sense ROM, similar to what you were doing. Pressing buttons on it's own, the screen was shaking and would not stop and the screen was unresponsive. Once I got rid of Sense the problem went away and I haven't had it sense I flashed CM back in October.

Have you tried to do a full, complete wipe of the phone? Sometimes just doing a factory reset isn't enough. What recovery are you using?

I don't can't be sure but I thought I remember seeing a touchscreen calibration setting in the stock rom when I first got my hero. But that was a long time ago. Something you might want to look into.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Opening Camera Freeze Black Screen

Happened to me twice already when I wanted to take a photo
I unlock my phone from lock screen and click the camera app, then the LED buttons light up white but the screen is black.
No response by clicking the back or home buttons. Forced to do hard reboot.
Anyone else come across this?
I am running Rocket Rom V21
black screen
hey it happened to mine too. But only when i used Tilt Shift app. It was processing my picture i took and then it failed. since then nothing seems to work to get it fixed again. When i open my camera it also blocks the notification slider :/ reset to manufacturers didn't fix my problem.
how to solve?
Same here. mine reboots after a few seconds though. I also had it a few times when I open up a video in vplayer. Might have something to do with memory or video/gpu stuff I guess.
Hi there,
I have the same problem (black screen, freeze). I also had the problem with vplayer.
What os versions do you have? I have German Vodafone LA6 with speedmod kernel 2-8.
Could this be a hardware issue? But it is very sporadic.
Greetings from Munich
Oli
I'm on update Xxlc1
Try using the torch widget once in a while, if it doesn't respond (led doesnt turn on) you should try launching the camera app. Guaranteed black screen.
I bought mine from a NL webshop, but as far as I can tell it is something German. (unbranded though)
Black Screen on Camera
well i i have got a PDA N7000XXLA6, Phone N7000XXLA4 and CSC N7000XENLA1 "I achieve this info by typing in: *#1234# and I'm using gingerbread.which means it's from the Netherlands. Latest update was in Januari but if I update to the the latest update from March should that infect my phone's behaviour or? I'm new at this kind of stuff.
Should i use my warranty for this black screen problem?

Screen black bug after lollipop update htc one m7

I just bought a new m7 yesterday and my experience is horrible. It was all ok but after the lollipop upgrade everything is messed up.
Proximity sensor is totally fine because I have checked it with several apps...
problem one: the screen doesn't turn on after I remove tho phone from my ear while calling, so I can't hang up unless the other person hangs up.
Problem 2: Same thing with Lock Screen. It doesn't turn on..
Problem 3: my phone's touch is not working at a certain horizontal line along the screen, When I touch there, two touches are senses just right and left....
If anyone has encountered these problems, please give me a solution or find me a better solution.

looks like you are having hardware problem with the digitizer and the proximity sensor, you might want to send back this phone a get another one.

If the problem returns after updating your apps through the playstore then it's related to one of your app, not lollipop itself. One of your apps must be interfering with the screen or the proximity sensor.

Touch issues / Sensitivity issues after Nougat update

Okay so I wanted feedback regarding this whether someone else is experiencing this or not.
I have gradually observed during the last few days that a lot of my touches to click have gone unresponsive in Nougat. Initially it was something that I hadnt quite noticed but slowly the trend became obvious. Now dont get me wrong, this would happen a few times here and there with lollipop and MM as well, but the rate is far higher now on Nougat. Especially when typing on the keyboard this means mis-spelled words, missed letters, and accuracy is far worse now.
Has anyone else observed this or is it just me?
Just got my xcover 4 with nougat installed i have the same issue.
The sensitivity is low and i need to press a bit higher finger force to respond.
Even with sensitivity (glove mode) set to on things get worse.
I'm seeing the same thing. What is strange is that I'll see the button highlight/depress, but no action occurs. This is on multiple apps.
On what device/OS?
Sprint Note 5 on Nougat
Did you try gloves mode? Does it work?
the same for me on 920cd and the same iusse using S pen
I contacted samsung Greece about the existing problem.
I reported the problems me and you guys have and the tech support told me that your problems exist because you did not factory reset the devices before upgrading to nougat.
Anyone tried to contact samsung about the problem?
They dont know anything about it.
facing same issue screen lagging in note 5 sm-n920s also tried custom rom but still lagging in typing and scrolling on facebook
I have the same problem on my xcover 4 here!!
When I run the the touch screen test, touch screen responds well, but when I want to write a message or to scroll the home screen Its very annoying. It looks like software problem.
please help
Hi guys.
I have 2nd piece of Xcover 4 SM-G390F (first was change by seller for new one) and had the same problem. First 2-3 days all work perfect.. I have installed my applications, work perfect for two days, but after this... --After wake, display react only in centre area, 1 centimeter from display border no reaction or react on xxx touch. After few seconds (20-30) display react on full range, but with lags... So... I go for support to Samsung official at CZE.
Support tells me, that they don't know about this problem, that I'm 1st who has this problem... And some other bull... about unofficial sell and any other. So I post them IMEI and they let me know, if my distribution is official or not, and we'll see what next. They recomend me to go to service center, where somebody looks on my SM. So I see tomorrow.
ROM - official Android 7 Nougat from start using (not updated from other version)
Deleting apps - no effect
Safe mode - no effect
Factory reset - no effect
Apps to calibrate screen - no effect

I've changed screen and after sometimes phone goes crazy

Hi mates, I need you help and suggestons,
unfortunately my phone felt down and I needed to change screen, the service which installed it asked me to choose one of the available (chinese) screens I I select the most expensive one. In the beginning all was ok, but time by time (about 1,5months) the usage gests worst, when the screen start to be a bit dirty it start recognize touches anywhere (moslty in the up side of screen), itself does commands, it's not possible to do nothing. WHen this happens I need to keep press the power button for 10 seconds tille ht ephone reboots, after reboot all become regular.
My considerations:
1) it doesn't seams a defective screen or a bad assembly, because after reboot all is good, if there were such problems a simple reboot can't fix them.
2) it looks like an incompatibility between OS and the touchscreen firmware, and probably it's something Xiaomi does with intention to create problems for cloned spare parts. Maybe the OS is "instructing" the touch screen controller how much sensibility to use, how much it can be dirty, etc.etc? the protocol of the latest OS isn't at all compatible with the cloned device and it result on crash of functioning. A reboot solves the problem.
If that is right, will a ROM update to another OS (not IMOU, as I have now) can fix the problem? Or there is any app that can perform a touch screen reset? Or any other trick to solve my problem? Than you for answers
Hi mates I need help, with cold weather coming it got crazy as soon it feels cold. WHat can I do to solve problem?
Updating ROM to a non official can solve it? The display isn't broken! A reboot fixes always the problem..
It is not original screen from xiaomi vendors, just a oem part with lower quality (chinese sell it alot on aliexpress with many type amoled, oled and LCD panel too).
Ghost touch easy happen on oem screen no matter how expensive it is.
Thank you for your kind answer, this is a really big issue.. it's very annoying using the phone like that, I've noticed it suddelny starts when the phone is exposed to cold temperature: lowering the screen temperature quite suddenly means it goes crazy, when it's crazy the only way to fix the proble is reboot the phone, with reboot it calibrates again and works ok, till next event. MY question are:
1) Can I forse myself a calibration?
2) Does other ROMs, not MUI, manage and fix this problem? (using another touch driver may solve the problem, chances are MUI introduced updates and become more selective to work with only original displays, to disancurage the OEM parts, so using another ROM wuth an older driver may solve the problem)
3) If I buy and add a protective glass on display, does it behave better?
Your experience is essential for me, thank you for posting!

imo
1. you can not
2. Roml sorfware can not
3. Protective glass make lower touch experience.
- Not all oem part come with defect, some working fine, it is just random.
- To repair you need replace new one, or buy original screen for sure.
Thanks for answer, I do believe that the problem can be managed by drivers, "resettig" the touch chip wil correct the problem. Probably the defect is on the firmware of the touch panel, it gots errors from touch.. ok, but it doesn't understand it's just revealing mre and more ghost touches. These FW have the task to filter out the ghost,, maybe they don't do it well.
A second chance is the comuinication between this chip and the MUI OS, the connection goes broken by some mistakes, "unalligned" and MUI got any touch position from nothing.
I don't believe the screen is defective, because after reboot it works perfectly, thil the next strong environment conditions change..
What is Roml software?
