Do they get timely software updates both major and security patch?
How many major os upgrade do they get?
So far that have been VERY bad on supporting their ROG phones with updates, usually one 1 major update but with tons of bug fixing updates since they don't seem to utilize tech savvy engineers for these updates.
Avoid for now unfortunately.
That is disappointing to hear. I am interested in the Rog 3 , but I also love timely updates. I have been happy with the updates that my Pixel 4 XL gets. Darn! If they are not going to support and update their phones regularly, then it is a no ho for me.
Very disappointing, i got the ROG Phone 1 and then got the 2 because i thought "maybe the first was more an experiment then a attempt" so i got the ROG Phone 2 but the same thing is happening with that, just abandoned and will be left to rot and forgotten. I see them not changing for the 3rd versions either and had to stop myself too and rather just wait and see but i pretty much know this will be left to rot once the ROG 4 comes out. More bug fixes then updates i bet will happen, which is terribly sad.
How is the ROG Phone II abandoned? It has July update.

Because it's more of a "good luck" if Android11 will come, security updates is not what i call an update other then a "patch" to fix holes and bugs. Hell even ROG 3 has shipped ONLY with Android10, an almost end of year 2020 flagship. So far Asus is only a step up from Razer with their ****ty support they had so it isn't saying much for Asus. Besides it might look like updates sometimes but as i said in my first post they are to fix bugs they introduced themselves in the first place.
VOID for now to ASUS ROG mobile division.
The ROG 3 is shipping with android 10 because android 11 isnt even released yet.
Also I'm pretty sure Asus promised 2 years worth of updates to the ROG 2 and also the ROG 3.

This is what I want Asus to disclose. All high end phones from 2018 is on android 10 already yet ROG phone 1 still on android 9. For a flagship price, 1 major update is a no-no.

The below is what i meant more of, i fumbled my words and confused myself.
The ROG Phone 1 has had bug fix updates and yet still no info for OS10 to release, I see the same being done with the ROG 2, lots of bug fixes for their mistakes since they seem to do no internal QNA and bet it will be left in the dust like the ROG 1 is currently. IE so far their track record is abysmal to say the least for these "flagship price" devices. Seems very different how they treat the Zen-Phones of theirs.

I mean, there isn't really a track record considering that we only have the Rog 1 to go off of at this point in time. They've treated their ZenFone series quite well, and I think the first rog was more of an experiment than anything else. Especially here in India the price for the Rog 1 was a joke, but when the 2 released it was an instant hit because of the competitive pricing.
I think the increased number of sales from the 2 and the attention that the 3 has gotten would tell Asus to support the Rog phones like they do with their zenfones, and I'm being hopeful, because they've shown that they have the ability to do it, now all they need to do is to put it into practice.

You can check release note for Asus phones from here https://zentalk.asus.com/en/categories/release-notes-en
It's not bad for Rog Phone 2 but ZenFone flagship definitely get updates more frequently especially ZenFone 6 almost every month

The fact that the Rog 3 has already got 3 updates in the span of a month is promising, also they seem to have fixed the framerate locking issue with the latest update.
As for the Rog 2, it got updates every couple months so yeah, not the best, but hopefully Asus sticks to their word.

So I have received an offer to sell my 6t for $450, so I was wondering if I sell it what my next phone will be?
Main concerns for Rog phone 2:
- Size
- weight
- Quality control as many people in china reported issues with the screen
- OS OTA updates/ bug fixes
Concerns about oneplus 7 pro:
- more expensive around $100 more
- Curved screen glare.
What do you recommend?

I will go with the ROG. For a couple of reasons: Cheaper, design symmetry, better front firing dual speakers, 120 HZ screen and finally longer battery life. Regarding your concerns the weight isn't a big of a deal as they make it sound to be, in terms of size; yes it is big but it's similar to 1+ size. QC issues that will depend on how you view it personally I have no issues except for some software bugs I hope they fix soon in a future update.

I m reading many people's review regarding screen some experience some choppiness, low brightness or screen yellow light white?
Did the phone receive any updates yet?
I haven't seen any of that. Just the fact that not every app runs at 120fps. Other than that everything else I love about it.

oh thank you for your feedback, did you face any issues with google on mobile data? I do use google maps a lot on mobile data while driving.
No issues with google maps or tmobile. I'm using the tencent version. Although when I first had hotspot on I couldn't use gps. It seems to have sorted itself out though.
Dude go with ROG. I have the 7. The curved screen has been such a hassle. Always closing or pressing things I didn't mean to. And when gaming it's really really annoying.

ohh man i have no idea. I hope so. Given how many sold so quickly and asus releasing unlocker I am sure there will be some movement. Also hopeful just looking at threads in this forum. Folks already flashing WW to CN version and got root. I am sure we will be fine. $500 for this phone is a steal.

I have both. ROG 2 is taller even though OP7Pro has a bigger screen. Weight they're both heavy but ROG a bit heavier. OP screen is a lot brighter than my ROG. It will probably deoend on how you use your phone. I will sell my OnePlus and keep my ROG for the battery. I'm a casual gamer and heavy user of FB, FB Messenger, Viber, some YouTube and casual gamer and OnePlus gets me 4-5 hrs of SOT while ROG gets me 8-9hrs.

I have the Rog 1 and 2. Because i love both i haven't sold the first generation. Regarding updates i believe the Rog phone 2 will get better support because of it's popularity and price, yes the first generation isn't getting a lot of updates and we will be getting the Pie update i believe by the end of September at most if not earlier.
But coming back to the question of updates, do current updates have any added features ...barely in my opinion except for the security updates which the Rog phone is getting every 3 months since it was launched. I even prefer the Oreo rom on the Rog 1 over the Pie rom of the ROG 2 which to me doesn't add any added features what so over i even feel it's a downgrade in comparison, regarding Android Q or 10, the only thing to look for is improved gesture navigation and dark mode which we are enjoying currently on the ROG 2.
@Shady282 Good luck with which ever phone you go with!
for sure rog phone 2 is the winner.. i bought the 8/128GB version. its enough for me , 12 gb ram wont be used its only for marketing strategy and its only if anyone want more storage like 512gb.
rog phone 2 has an amazing 120hz oled 1ms pixel response, 10bit hdr10 almost full dci p3 screen with 240hz touch sample. latest plus processor with better 15% gpu performance, better front facing speakers,6000mah, 3,5mm jack, gorilla glass 6, ufs 3.0, 48+13mpx and 24 back and front camera with amazing stabilization, better haptics feed, better gaming and costant framerate, lots of usb c 3.1 with video output, fast charge( up to 30 watt supported).. its a best buy at 550$
oneplus 7 pro is less smooth 90hz and higher resolution will impact gaming and gpu benchmarks. no 3,5 mm jack, lower battery capacity, curved edges are cool but not useful and make accidental touches, worse speakers and stardard 855 processor. it cost 200$ more
maybe the only reason to switch to oneplus is software community and development, but i will stay to rog phone 2 due to better specs and price

I m really liking the rog for all the specs but new OS gets a lot of optimizations in many different area even games performance, also fixes many bugs. The thing about asus with rog, is that they don't fix their bugs and u won't experience improved New OS features.
Also don't forget oneplus updates their phone much much faster than asus so my concern will be if asus will change their ways. They still didn't update rog phone 1 to Pie yet...

Aouch, i totally forgot about this! Did the CN rom receive any updates, bug fixes since the phone release ?
Ok so I had been humming along fine with my Note 8 for 2 years but recently I started playing pubg heavily and it would only last 3hrs at most I called bestbuy and they said they did not replace batteries in Samsung devices even though it stated they did on there site. Anywho I seen the sell on Amazon for 799 for the note10+ with galaxy buds so I bit! Got it home set it up beautiful phone aura glow very nice to look at BUT it would not pick up 1 bar sitting the same spot my note 8 sat which always had 2 bars of 4g+ . So I returned it and decided to just keep my note 8 and find a way to get a battery, but then about a week ago I was browsing ebay and Amazon everywhere looking at NOTE 9 Amazon was 900 for the 9 and 799 for the 10 but went on Ebay and found Microsoft on ebay had brand new unlocked note 9 on clearance with 1 year warranty for 449, so I bought it and wow the Note 9 had same signal as the 8 but better battery 4000mah and no hole in screen and led light and headphone jack! She only came in one color for the sale which is blue. I'm usually a black kind of person but for 450 I like it just the same I was going to leave it on oreo but my 8 had the pie and I was already accustomed to it so I updated it and pie has the better of battery life. I just scored the best deal ever seen for a never opened or turned on phone. Which is what I wanted btw there were hundreds of open box rehash junk but I wanted a warranty and a trustworthy seller. Microsoft ftw!!!
Newcomer to Samsung after being through Pixels, NExus, Nokia, Oneplus and just could not find something to fit.
Was offered a Note 9 (copper) second hand but in superb condition for £350 and thought what the hell as was looking at the S10 or Note 10.
Wow, blown away by the phone. Especially now have change the CSC to UK. So much smoother than my Pixel 3XL and with a bit more character to it. Screen scrolling is smooth and battery much better.
Am with you about the lack of pinhole or bezel.
Damn thing just works so may just stick with this and see what Note11 (or whatever they call it) comes about.

Yeah I have tried Google phone before and the radio in it is not nearly strong as the samsung. I used to be a Motorola guy but not since the note 8 I've stuck with Samsung ever since.
I experienced weaker cellular signal with both an S10e and an S9 than the better signal reception of my Note 9. I love this phone!
I had what I thought was the phone I really wanted, before this Note 9, in the Pixel 2 XL. What a disappointment. I just didn't like it. So much that I didn't even get around to rooting, before selling it.
I only miss a couple minor things, without root with the Note 9. This is the first unrootable phone I've had since 2012.
I got the 8/512 version, in hopes of keeping it for 4 years or more. I kept it on Oreo, because I did not want the new "features" of pie.
I'll let my S9 go to Android 10 / One UI version 2 and if all is well, may let the Note 9 update to that.
I've always felt that a phone runs best on its original Android version.
I am usually the same but I like the pie dark mode and aod touch to see. But oreo is a good os. I started to just stay with it but I'm looking forward to 10

It's nice to see someone agree with me, for a change!
Most are adamantly in favor of taking updates. I believe security updates are almost placebo, covering old threats, but I'm no software engineer.
My and the wife's Note 9s are on Oreo, with the December 1, 2018 security patch, experiencing no I'll affects. Are we just lucky?

Pie's "dark mode" is so incomplete, it makes me wonder how "complete" the One UI 2.0 dark mode will actually be and the fact that it cannot be combined with a theme is utter stupidity.
I don't know this "aod touch to see". I'll have to go for up my S9 on Pie and compare the difference with the AOD on my Oreo Note 9.

Is there any data to backup such a claim?
What about phones that are old enough to no longer receive any update. Should they be thrown out?
Serious questions.
Hello
Comparing a One + 7Pro with a Galaxy Note 10+ does not seem very wise to me. By cons with the One + 7T Pro yes.
The One + 7T Pro HD1913 released with Android 10 under Oxygen OS 10.0.5 HD01BA is really remarkable, no bug unlike the 7 Pro.
For network sensitivity and 4G + speed, the Note 10+ is lagging behind, I made the comparison directly with my operator and I therefore bought the One + 7T Pro.
It's been 10 years since I was a samsung pro, in the style of pierced screens while I never take a selfie, I much prefer the popup camera.
On the positive side too, there is no slew of totally useless applications like Samsung's.
I just replaced the original SMS / MMS application with "TEXTRA" and installed "BlueMail" to manage my email accounts.
I also have a Galaxy Note 9, certainly the stylus is practical but not essential.
The Note 10+ is a very good cell phone, but my first purchase criteria is above all network quality.
This is only my personal opinion.

Seeing as those security patches are design to patch up security exploit holes in the OS. I would believe that installing them would be make your device more secure. Of course you are free to not install them. That choice is entirely up to you. I am just throwing in my 2 cents

One would think these to be true. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you made a bold claim about security patches protecting banking apps.
I just asked if there is any data to back that up.
It's not like this would be the first time we were lied to or claims were exaggerated about security.

It's not a bold claim--it's a sensible and widely held belief, so of course 'one would think these to be true', no evidence forthcoming!
If any given security update blocks hackers from exploiting some method to get sensitive data, we are not likely to find data that some actual hackers were blocked. This is a good example of a negative that cannot be proven, and absence of evidence is not evidence of absence! In security, there are no absolutes; you take your chances. It's a well known generality that an updated system is more secure that one that is not updated.
If your banking data is on your phone, and you go read about all the latest holes, in smartphones, that can be exploited to steal your data and log into your bank, you could then go on a wild goosechase trying to determine what holes are on your phone and what patches apply and in what software versions, which is not easy! At that point it becomes apparent that it's more sensible to apply the latest updates (that's what most people do). On the other hand, if you don't look into it, you could just pretend that your phone is better than most phones and there are no security holes that need to be fixed. In that case, ignorance is bliss, right?
I have halted all my updates since summer of 2019, because I don't want to roll forward my bootloader version, for the rare chance that there might one day be a method to root the Qualcomm variant, only on an early bootloader. Although that is looking grim, and I really should keep my phone updated. The point is, I don't trust that updates are only for my benefit, since it's clear that 'security' updates from Samsung are sometimes more about keeping me from being able to own my phone than protecting my data. I am not in any denial of either.
Also, to OP, ya, this Note 9 is 'better' than the Note 10. I bought mine brand new last spring for about $600 before the Note 10 was released, and I bought it knowing that the Note 10 would be worse, which is why I did not wait for the Note 10 release. What seems interesting is the Note 10 is so not loved that the Note 9 actually went back up in price after the release of the Note 10! Way to go, Samsung!! Curved screen, non-replaceable battery, camera holes/notches, removing headphone jack, bendable screens, and just generally trying so hard to be 'cool' like Apple, is what has turned me off of their products and Samsung as a company. It's like they used to target a market of more sensible lovers of tech, but now they have changed their target market to go after all the Apple fanboys, who fall for gimmickry rather than appreciate really sensible and cutting-edge design, leaving their old market behind. I am not a big fan anymore, and I'll likely look for another brand when I am ready to upgrade.

One would think these to be true. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you made a bold claim about security patches protecting banking apps.
I just asked if there is any data to back that up.
It's not like this would be the first time we were lied to or claims were exaggerated about security.

Those security holes are definitely legit, but the breaking in and utilization of said holes aren't being reported on for very specific reasons. Especially when it comes to major multi-billion dollar companies that manufacture smartphones. You wouldn't want to buy a smartphone from a company that has had hacks occur on a regular basis. Not to mention if that did get out, the amount of crumbling some of these companies would face.
In my field of work, we report vulnerabilities we find to companies who's products we are using. Nothing ever gets out to say that a vulnerability was found. At least not that we have seen. I know a lot of folks have distrust of companies and why they update software but one simply needs to think like a business or the creator of something that's largely used by a lot of people, to understand why security updates are important. We all definitely have our reasons for not updating, but to not update and think everything will be fine is a bad idea. It's all fun and games or conspiracy until somebody gets hacked.
If you aren't going to update your phone PLEASE be careful what you do with your phone and especially what sites you visit.:good:
Ok update! The blue note 9 that I got on discount from Microsoft for 449 had to be sent back, the battery was acting funny and discharging very quickly after all updates. So I returned it. Now get this the very day I send it back Samsungs own outlet on ebay had the black note 9 wesley snipes edition 128gb for 349.99 brand new unlocked with 1 year warranty they had 5 left, I got the notification from ebay as I had been watching this item for some time at 549.99 but I guess they were trying to clear inventory dropped it 200 dollars so I bought 2 of them and about an hour or so later it went back to 549.99! Ooooohhhhh I just got them today 4% on both batteries I charged one up to 50 and keeping it stored and the other I'm using as my daily driver. I am on the original oreo factory firmware and going to stay there awhile which version of oreo are you oreo guys at? I'm sticking with oreo because it has 83 apps when its optimizing apps after updates and pie has 380 apps :0.
I read some news what said there will be no EMUI 10.1 for the P20 Pro.
What the duck, is this for real?
no one know...i think no emui 10 for p20 pro....lol
10.0 has started coming out today for the p20 pro, it's been available in china but now seems to be going wider. 10.1 won't because the phone is reaching the end of its life cycle sadly

But 10.1 is just a bit of optimization for 10, or am I wrong?
It should get 10.1, like every other phone.
I will not buy Huawei again, for sure. The phone's great, I really like the software, but updates are trash. Also, no bootloader unlock code.
What feature are you wanting from 10.1? This phone is 2 years old now, pretty much end of life for tech device. Not sure what people want from unlocking bootloader, there's pretty much zero development on this phone. Some crappy ROMs with broken stuff. You really not missing anything apart from ad blocking lol. Days of Rom dev are almost over unfortunately, buy an older phone if that's what you want.
"Not sure what people want from unlocking bootloader,"
Well, I could be able to revive one of my bricked devices. Complicated story, that is why this would be the only method.
"What feature are you wanting from 10.1?"
Everything new.
I wouldn't count on it. Android 11 is coming out next month and we still don't have EMUI 10 here in Australia.
Yep. It got confirmed that p20 pro will not get EMUI 10.1.
Emui 10 got delayed till June, and also we got removed from montly security updates.

While i agree with you that custom roms are dying, unfortunately you are completely wrong about the 2 year cycle of life.
All android manufacturers can push as many updates as Apple, but they refuse, because mob mentality. I paid a lot of cash for this phone only to be treated the same way as the P9 days : Delayed updates for x times, updates that got canceled because of unknown reasons and so on.
Huawei had the ability to come on top if they announced that phones from 2017 and up will get a lot of updates, since now they no longer have google services and they can easily use their OWN services to gain profit, just like Apple. They refuse to see it, they become stubborn, and me as a consumer will put my foot down and no longer buy phones from this brand, neither anything related to Huawei.
Great hardware, bad software.
I will have to waste 1k on an Iphone but at least i can be assured that i get a lot of support for more than those 2 years that android manufacturers provide.
Huawei, you deserve all you're getting. If you don't man up and stop with these PR stunts and "communism", the brand will die. Literally Xiaomi surpassed them!
I'm done with Huawei.
My next phone will be an OnePlus, Samsung or Xiaomi.
Huawei as a company became trash af.
I was in love with the brand since I got a Mate 10 lite - but what they're doing is nonsense bull****.
Great hardware, nice UI, but the attitude towards updates is seriously bad.
Without GMS and changes in their behavior, this company will get out from Europe maybe around 2025. At least their mobile section for sure.

If you don't plan to immediately switch to a custom ROM don't go with Xiaomi. They have terrible software, with hard-to-imagine amount of bloat and ad-ware. From my past experience they are even worse than Huawei in terms of updates.
If you live in any country that gets Exynos variants of Samsung phones - it's a waste of money. It's proven that they have far worse performance compared to the Snapdragon variants of the same model (at the same price). Don't know how fast Samsung rolls out updates now, but in the past they were very slow.

I don't have experience with OnePlus yet, but I'm considering it as an option for my next device.
I can't really imagine what "They're the "iPhone" of Android phones." means.
OnePlus phones are pretty open and have some nice custom ROM options. They are not as expensive as other flagship devices (although getting closer every year). In the last models they had some green tint issues with the screen (some say minor and limited). Overall considered to have good hardware and software.
That's more or less what I know, you probably can get much more (and more reliable) information on the OnePlus forums.

LOL you think Samsung or Xiaomi cares about software updates? Any company that produces 10+ lines of devices dont care about keeping up with updates.. only selling....
You want consistent updates, go with Apple, Google or even OnePlus, as they openly support 3rd party roms...
I'd also not go with Samsung. They are very poor with regards to updates as well. Xiaomi is fast with updates actually, but there skin really is ****. Think.. original touchwiz ****.
Apple, Google or OnePlus are the only options for updates. Though, if 'Murica decides to ban all tech to China, then oneplus is also out.
Did you know more about it?
No, we only get 10.0, as it seems.

Mine still haven't arrived. Others?
Update is live in UK as well. Went live four days ago.
I expect to buy the S25U or an iPhone 15PM in January 2025 and then switch to it just as the phone loses support.
Honestly, given that they've promised 3 OS updates, I guess they'll be pushing out Android 14 around that time?
I'll turn this device into just a DeX machine or sell it off for scraps or maybe use it as a security camera or something if there's an app for that.
If Android OEMs haven't switched to 6 years of full-fledged updates by 2025, then, I'm probably going to be dumping them for iPhone.
No earlier than 2 years
Probably the new Pixel but I upgrade every year or 6months.

2-3 years depending on what is on offer at that time. Won't keep it longer than 3 years in any case.

I feel you man. Have seen you struggling to find a solution to the camera wake lock for weeks now... Can understand how frustrating it can be.
What I'm surprised with, is how good the battery was before the May update. It's like they broke something basic within the OS.
I'd give up soon future camera improvements and performance updates, as long as they promise not to mess around with the battery anymore.
Will wait for June update with fingers crossed, and if battery goes back to April levels, will stop updating to newer firmwares after that. Probably till the next OS version upgrades have been released and matured enough to be stable.
I specifically bought S21Ultra fully intending to keep it for 3+ years.
It's not a question of money or hardware obsolescence (not a real issue these days) but I'm so anal about setting a phone the way I like it, that I can't bring myself to do it more often.
Took me more than 3 weeks of tinkering and I'm not even done yet.
Two to three years is my average, I normally wait until my contract is up (24 months) and then continue to use the phone I've got until something else takes my fancy.
But this is assuming I get my S21 Ultra back fixed properly. My son dropped it on Sunday, cracking the screen so it's with Vodafone for repair right now. I've been quoted £226 for repair, which I thought was reasonable given that I've not seen a genuine Samsung replacement screen for less than £290 and that's assuming I was prepared to replace it myself.
Hard to answer this question until new devices are offered. I have upgraded everytime Samsung released it's latest device since the S6 but skipped the S20 and happy I did as the S21 was much improved. We'll see what the future brings. For me personally I'm less likely to upgrade just because it's a new device. With today's pricing for top shelf smartphones it only makes sense to exercise prudence. I don't see switching to an Apple device, the value is tough to reconcile especially when one considers it's proprietary ecosystem requires a total realignment.
I will say this, as much as I like my S21 Ultra, I only really went back to Samsung after my Oneplus 6T because I was offered a ridiculous deal by Vodafone. Samsung devices annoy the hell out of me, despite the quality of the hardware and cameras. The idea of never being able to take a device back to absolute full stock, have it repaired without the warranty being void, and be able to use every feature it came with simply because you would like to root your phone is abhorrent to me. They can take their Knox trip and cram it up their ****. No other manufacturer permanently alters their devices at a hardware level as a result of the user rooting their phone. It's a disgrace.
So whilst I'm happy with my phone, I'm likely going to go for something else next.

Well yes I do mean the custom ROM. I am downloading it now and hoping to see better battery life as with the 1st June update it has been crappy.
Ideally, I would want to upgrade to a affordable, foldable phone with at least 120hz oled screen with great battery life, camera and is waterproof. I use my phone and tablet a lot, it would be great to combine the 2. When will this will happen? Probably never.
Edit........
I generally upgrade every year. I could ride this out much longer, just depends on what Google does with their next phone.

Each to their own of course, but the idea of spending upwards of £700-£800 a year for a mobile device that will have little improvement on your current device seems a bit odd to me. I've yet to see enough improvement over a 12 month period in the mobile phone sector to justify such an outlay. Two years just about justifies it, in my case going from a Oneplus 6T to an S21 Ultra for example. I wouldn't have gone from an S20 Ultra to an S21 Ultra.
Mobile phone manufacturers would love everyone to be like you.

just got the S21 Ultra, took me 5 years, was gifted an iPhone 7 plus in 2016 so decided to ride it out on the iOS bandwagon. My yearly phone budget is $250-$300 so if the phone costs $1200, it better last a minimum of 4 years.

It's the Cameraservice_worker partial wakelock that's tanking the battery while walking around with the phone. Supposedly, the "feature" aims to protect the camera while phone is being moved around by keeping the optically stabilised lens module from jostling around in the housing. As a side-effect, it's chewing up the battery much faster.
It's being discussed and investigated here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/cameraservice_worker-partial-wakelock.4234161/
Have the issues about the camera and the other ones been fixed by now? I was thinking to buy this device soon enough and I'd like to know what I will get. I am also wondering if it is easily rootable and if custom firmware support is possible.
Nope, camera issues are still not fixed. There was a slight improvement with the last patch (still on september security update LOL) but it is still unusable. Apart from that the camera app itself is just straight garbage with limited functionality and barebones implementation.
I'll get rid of my phone and probably get the Vivo x90 Pro (Plus) if I can afford it after this bad investment. I think its time to accept that root and custom firmware is not the future anymore as the only OEMs that still support it dont give a damn about their phones.

so you have trust that vivo is better in terms of software ? I´m pretty sure that you will be disappointed !
I only buy phones where you can unlock the bootloader to install custom roms.
btw: the security patch is from october for the latest update (edge 30 ultra software 16-72-14)
Is there anything else you guys recommend me with similar performance (sd 8 gen 1+) and a working camera for about the same price in Europe? Does Motorola have any records of fixing their device problems over the time or not?

My bad, october you are right. I had the Vivo x70 Pro+ before I bricked it, so yeah Vivo's software is incredible, especially in the camera department. Its like comparing an iphone 14 pro to a midrange xiaomi phone.
@Pf_Plays06 Considering that I reported the problem 3 months ago and they cant even promise a fix or a timeline I doubt that they will fix it completely. Older phones are also riddled with problems that are neither acknowledged nor fixed, take a look at their official forums. I'd rather go for a second hand flagship phone, maybe even with SD888+ or SD 8 Gen 1 unless you are into heavy gaming or CPU intense stuff.
