iPAQ H6300 Review - Off-topic

http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=reviews&id=440&p=1
I don't know... do you think the XDA III can be better than this? Voice Command through a Bluetooth Headset is sounding pretty good.

I would love to try HP's new BT stack on my I-Mate

That's EXACTLY what I expect from iMATE SE update. Full BT stack. Or at least, use hacked one from HP in XDA2

Its got an external ariel(cant spell) would have been a nice phone without. Its funny when a new phone comes out with one! doesnt look right to me.

Yeah, I don't like the antenna either.
I'm getting pretty anxious for a new i-mate WM2003SE ROM. I hope they add Voice Tag dialing support so you can use the Bluetooth Headset to initiate a call. It sounds like the H6300 does not have that capability, although it does have the ability to send system audio to the Bluetooth headset.
It looks like the MMS app on the H6300 is integrated with Inbox too, but the New MMS dialog looks just like the Arcsoft MMS Composer dialog for creating MMS messages. I wonder if there's a new version of MMS composer that integrates fully with the Pocket PC Inbox! Hopefully we'll get that on the XDA II soon too!

I WANT AUDIO THROUGH BLUETOOTH!!!!
That's the only thing that I hate about the XDA II... I'm tired down.
I don't mind the crappy quality, I was used to it with my other PPC.

Looks like Widcomm's new software that supports Phone Edition devices. It's cool how you can turn on headset support for just the phone, just the system audio/microphone or both. But I still wish I could use the buttons on the Bluetooth headset to activate Voice Tags or something. Sounds like all they can do with the H6300 is Accepting and Ending a call.

Calling all software engineers:
Someone, please get a hold of this BT Stack and backwards engineer it for the XDA II.
I'll donate $20US to whoever does this. I'm sure many more are willing to donate some money for a good cause.

not sure about which version the new hp will use but some people here seem to have the stack working on their devices
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=9927&highlight=widcomm
for me to really wish for audio to headset it would require
1 stereo (mono music is not for me)
2 quality which dident make it all sound like aliens from beyond the sun that i pick up on my HAM

Rudegar,
Those are PC Bluetooth software... We're looking for the new Pocket PC Bluetooth Stack.
The only reason I want Audio through Bluetooth is for games and movies.

I just saw this article on STEREO BT! http://mobilemag.com/content/100/104/C3048/
--now that would be GREAAAT!
...so I'm sure, IS there no way to listen to MP3's on the xda2 thru BT now??
The HP is not MS Mobile SE, plus the MPx is coming soon, I hope, so I'll wait for that...

Jabra BT 800 and Broadcomm 3900 upgrade

:? Hi guys Just wondered if any of you guys are experienced problems with the Jabra bt800 working intermittently. Sometimes it works but most of the time it does'nt . I've upgraded to Broadcom 3900 and although blue tooth audio still crackles its not as bad.. The headset works alot better with my SPV C500.. Any ideas or experiences :?:
bt 800
hi i have xda2s with bt 800 working somtimes
i upgradeed to bt3900 but i see no change
somtime i takes 5-6 kye presss to unswerr a phone call
i do not have any audio problem the audio is ok
glad to know i am not the only one.. cheers for replying
did you try to contact jabra support???
I have a contact in GN Netcom so will have a chat with him next week and post the response here
thenks
:? Ok after talking to my contact in GN Netcom we have come to the conclusion (seings as it works fine with my Motorolla V3 and Nokia 6810 and 6820 and Siemens SK65) that the issue lies with the Bluetooth stack on my 2s.I did explain about this that i had upgraded it to the newer version and i personally believe they have not totally replicated the way the Bluetooth in the xda2s behaves the same as a normal bluetooth enabled phones.
I believe that because it works fine on most of the Manufacturers phones and the XDA's of this world are low priority to get it right.. I still believe it will be fixed in future Bluetooth upgrades on the xda2s.. doh still think that even though the display and buttons work intermittently it is still worth having for the DSP
The problem still exists!
I have Qrek 9090 and Jabra t800. Audio is very good and also on the good range.
BUT...
Main problem (even with Jabra 800 fix CAB file) is that I can't normaly answer the phone call. It takes about 5 or 6 times before I can reply the call. And also, it takes about 2 seconds before I can hear other side opponent.
I just wonder if you people have some kind of this problem. Any expirince. Could you please share with me some information.
I use Danghard rom 1.44 wit BT 3900.
Thanks a lot.
Leonid.
Update to Latest Ow2 ROM...the BT 3900 workd flaw lewssly.I hv tried BT with SE HBH 30/262 etc Blue Trek G2 and no problems....Also with Motorolla 810...
Moreover, Motorolla and Bluetrek supports voice dialing too
Thank you, but I'm talking about Jabra BT 800, cause it has so many features that I need. So, I would like that my Jabra headset will work fine with Qtek 9090.
Guys, please help!
Guys! Really need your help.
I used before another headset and didn't have any problems. But after I bought Jabra BT 800 I got serous problems. It really takes about 6 rings before I can answer a call. So, a lot of people just hang up and I have to call them back.
Nothing really helped.
I'm confused, cause I really like this headset and would like to use it.
HELP!
Thanks!

also how do u use Voice dailing on the bluetreck for my xda IIs ???
can some one help me ?
Hi..use search,,,still this is how to do a voice dialling:
1) Install MS Voice command and assign a Hardware button(any) to activate the software so that it an listen to our commands.
2) Now, just press the "Call answer" button of your BT.By doing so it will activate the sound on your 2s.Then press that harware button of Voice command and speak...
It works flawlessly
Thanks
thank s
Ill def try going to Delhi, will return and sure thry Voice dial and re-install my BT stack to see if there is crackling sound still there
also how long can you try to distance your phone from the BT
I got one Jabra bt800
its superb and must say its a best one around with lots of features
Eehheh and you call that voice dialing?
If i had to do all of that to voice dial i could also press the button on the device and talk the name to it. And that would be one click less than with your solution.
I think the idea of voice dial with bluetooth is to keep the phone in your pocket and do the talking via bluetooth only.

But can you tell me. Do you also have such problems with Jabra 800 as I have. The sound of BT and range is best. But what about time to answer the call. I press answer button hundred times to be able to speake with opponent.
Hi again guys.
Still can't solve my problem with BT 800.
I contacted with several companies but didn't get any correct answer.
Really don't know what to do.
Can you please tell what exactly this CAB file from FTP fixes cause nothig changed since I installed it.
Thank you and please foget me for bothering you.

Gentlemen,
After a week or so exploring this forum and experimenting with my Logitech bluetooth hands free I've got a feeling that the only possible solution for the moment is to prevent the BA from getting into the sleep mode. Use ScreenLock or Mort Saver instead.

Well, thank you.
But as I understood from different threads in forum this is one way.
But... I'll kill battery of PDA very quickly. Really don't think that it's a good idea.
People from Jabra told me that new firmware will come soon and will help to solve this problem.
So.. I think that it's not the fault of PDA or ROM... :?

...for me working corectly great work. thx
Sweet! Finally, i can get rid of that crappy MS stack in my ROM.
Thanks ather & Helmi
EDIT: Stack works perfectly! File transfer is back to what it should be and everything's sweet!
2 questions tho.
1: Does this stack have A2DP? I've put off buying BT headphones cos the MS stack didn't support it, if this one does i'll probs go pick up a pair.
2: Know of any good bluetooth IM clients? A few mates of mine have XDAs and it'd be pretty sweet to chat to each other over bluetooth instead of using GPRS (we all work in the same vicinity (diff rooms) and at times, it'd be handy to send a quick bluetooth IM). I'm thinking if we were all on the same bluetooth personal / public network, the client'd be able to communicate with another client. In which case, it wouldn't need to be a specific bluetooth client (as the stack should, theoretically, transmit inet data over the bluetooth network), just a network client.

MS BT stack under WM 5.0 and 6.0 supports A2DP without any modification.
Works great on my Himalayas.

I was reading something last night about a user who'd hacked MS portrait to run as a PTT (push-to-talk) app over a bluetooth network, looked interesting. Blog article | MS portrait hacking link
Another app (currently in beta) is one from hipvoice.com. Apparently it's designed entirely for PTT over any network (bluetooth, wifi, gprs-etc)
TBH either text or voice IM would be good. It'd certainly be a helluva lot cheaper than SMSing friends in different rooms at work/college.
Lastly, anyone know why BT shuts off the second the device goes into standby? I used to have a widcomm stack on WM5 (a long LONG time ago) that didn't have this problem. I used to be able to start BT transfers and leave the device in my pocket (they'd still transfer even if the device standbyed). Now, the second the device turns off, all file transfers are instantly cut.
Here's an old forum post i dug up showing that widcomm used to work in the background on WM5. Any reason why it won't do the same on WM6?

Same difference. Widcomm got taken over by broadcomm, so it's basically the same stack.
Yeah i'm using the stack on page 1 of this thread, works like a charm (apart from turning off during device standby).
Problems..
Hi there!
Tried and works great on my hima WM6..
Except 1 thing: i can not connect to my gps... I tried 1000 ways and no solution... It seams the com port part of the stack is wrong...
BTW i wanna uninstall... i tried and it doesnt worked... after uninstall the original bluetooth progs says there is a problem with ure hardware...
How to get back the "old" crappy MS bluetooth??
Thx..
I get this error:
The Bluetooth Radio failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory available.
You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth Radio.
First i install the stack, then the install do a soft reset and then i install the patch.
I've just switched for the PAN. everything is working fine, except for the SerialPort. I Think this stack need's some tweaking/hacking.
When I tested with my BT GPS, the GPS LED stopt blinking = it means the GPS is connected.
But for some reason the software/application can't find the BT GPS.
BTW does anyone know if it's possible to keep booth stack's on the device? I Love PAN, but still need SerialPort.
Thanks.
I am too stupid to use your software. With your WM6 ROM active sync not working and with other ROMs i get this error using this BT stack:

Diamond renders A2DP useless

Another day, another bug..
We tout a2dp as a killer feature, but whats the point when after listening to music you take or make a call, only for the music to resume by blaring from your PHONE SPEAKER afterwards, prompting you to soft reset just to get your headphones working again. This is very embarassing and did NOT Happen with my old HTC Touch.
What gives HTC?

i've heard about this bug.
use coreplayer (from my experience) or another civilized, technically advanced app. forget about the original prog. i can add that i am amazed by the quality of a2dp. i don't have any skip. the quality is the same as the wired headphones.
please don't give me the usual "but i bought...and i expected...". get used to it. diamond is strong in some fields and not so strong in others.
maybe they'll (xda-dev) find a cure. let's hope
Doesent happen with my phone ... works like a charm for me..
Even if I connect to bluetooth amplifire and someone is calling, it pauses and I take the call on the phone... and then it plays again when i hang up...
same thing here also as darth

No im sorry. There is no excuse. This is poor quality control and id expect better from HTC.
Either the Diamond supports A2DP or it doesnt. There is no inbetween, thats slack.
I expect to be able to use the official player as its quick to launch and easy to jump to a specific album/artist.
Now I cannot walk out and about, fire up A2DP and enjoy music while being able to take calls.
Now I cant even accept calls on the train if I have been listening to music.
Its a joke and it needs to be sorted.
We mock iPhone for not having A2DP but whats the point - we dont have it (working) either!

Hold on.. lets get something straight, you think its UNREASONABLE for me to expect A2SP to actually work.... It worked just fine on my old HTC Touch and yet my Diamond cant seem to do the job properly.
Instead of sticking your head in the sand and being in flat out denial about the state of the Diamond, why dont you acknowlege the problem and work WITH people like me to try and find a solution.
lol
is it possible that it works on certain headsets than others...?
i have an i.tech and it works fine...however quality itself isnt too great...
but i dont have the music blaring via speakers problem after answering a phone call....

For me too btw, with DS-980...
So we have people claiming this problem does not exist and we have others saying it does.
Surely this needs to be investigated further right? Because If A2DP isnt working correctly then I conisder that a vital feature lost.
Im using the Sony DRBT30Q with the latest official UK WWE Diamond ROM and let me add that this worked FLAWLESSLY with my old original HTC Touch.
i don't know if htc alone is to be blamed for these issues....A2DP is a very volatile technology which needs support from all parties involved (i.e the Headset vendor, the Phone vendo and the OS vendor)...and in your case, any of these can be responsible for the problems ur facing
i've had a similar problem with my del bh200 bluetooth headset...the music sounds pretty decent (in fact, i distinctly feel it played better on my earlier HTC Touch elfin)...however, whenever a call comes in, the headset switches off and i have to pair it again...which means we can't use it in handsfree mode....
the same headset however works with several other models in both handsfree and wireless stereo mode
after searching a bit, i found that the problem lies with the microsoft bluetooth stack...so summing up, investigate a bit before naming your thread "diamond renders a2dp useless"

No such problems here.
SwBL's latest rom with Plantronics Voyager 855 headset
Just start media player and hit main button and A2DP starts up, Incoming calls work fine, music mutes and starts up as soon as the call ends.
Loving the new headset
Jules
Sprint Diamond Stock Firmware with Jabra BT8010 1.4 firmware (latest)
Music and calls work fine... Sprint TV doesn't play nice with A2DP and the headset randomly starts playing nothing at times.
I think HTC and Sprint fixed music playback with A2DP but left the other quirks of the Bluetooth Stack for later.
I remember a similar problem on my HTC Vogue, but that fixed right up after the GPS REV A Update.
I didn't want to open a new thread, but this does have to do with bluetooth. Does any body know, when the SE IS-800 are coming out, because the release date of "late 2008" is a bit vague...
Can this have something to do with radio rom version?
I use Sony DS-980.
I had v1.00.25.05 and upgraded to v1.00.25.08 and last time I received a phone call I had to answer the call from my Diamond and after the call the sound came from the phone speaker. I can't remember this happened when I used .05 version

Folks,
I've been using this one on HD Jabra BT3030 Stereo. My HD2 is on its way and should be here wednesday the lastest but what I can say is that this one is really amazing. It is able to give you control over volume up/down, music rewind/forward and next/previous function of the HTC player. Having that you will never need to take it out of the case for making calls or hearing music. On HTC its also supporting the Voice calling.
But as I said, not tested it on HD2 yet. I will give it a try and post my result here as soon as my HD2 is there.
Indeed this dog tag"-Look is something you need to like but in my opinion its an eye catcher ;-)

how to make the hd2 play music through the bluetooth headset? i have a sony headset added as a bluetooth device with the stereo headset option ticked. also i am able to use it for phone calls but not music.
I am using the bt3030 from jabra also, but instead of the jabra earbuds,i buyed senneheiser cx300 precision, combine this with srs wow hd and do some bluetooth tweaking like verry high bitrate etc and you got some booming bass on the head with nice and clear treble, and clear mid tones....whoooo
Sony Ericsson MW600 - Both for phone and stereo bluetooth. It has a small display, dipslays caller ID for contacts, you can adjust volume (although the slider takes a little getting used too, it is much more linear than the HD2 controls), has a 2.5mm headset jack so you can replace the headset with whatever you choose. Great sound reproduction from standard headphones. Fantastic battery life. Uses micro-usb to charge, so is compatible with HTC HD2 chargers. You can pair with multiple devices. Has worked flawlessly for me. Paid $75 AUS Dollars

the volume control is easy. the manual says that you need to slide across the whole slider to activate volume then you can just slide to the desired volume. works great. highly recommend this headset. also payed about $80 aud online for it.
Hi,
Personnaly, I am using IQUA BHS-701. It is light, good balance between quality and price. Very good sound (phone and music)good bass. It is the best one for jogging according my knwoledge. It has it's own volume contrôle, overiding the HD2 one. there is mini USB slot to charge it. The disign philosophie is close to the jabra. Reception disance is good. Finally it is a 83grams headfone and it last 10 hrs music.
Motorola S9 or Jaybird work great!
Both are "waterproof". I also use WOW (free ap) - try the Jaybird first - they won't be comfortable for everyone.

HD2 and sony erricson mw600 review

Hey guys, i`ve been browsing the site for a while and thought it about time to make an original contribution. I was looking for a blue tooth headset and my searches here lead me to the MW600. quite a few people were asking about it so i thought it a good opportunity to give my review now that i have one!
from the start then, i bought this as i have a very nice pair of headphones i wanted to use with the phone, but could not be doing with cords. most bluetooth headsets have their own headphones which i get along with even less. this seemed a perfect solution to both problems.
the box it comes in is flimsy at best, indeed the plastic tab to hang the box on is completely lose, useless for hanging up in a shop.
out the box, its a lot smaller than i imagined but a bit thicker too. it comes with a charger that handily also fits the HD2 which is an added bonus and un expected!
when i paired up to the phone i was very surprised to find that the unit displayed the song info correctly. i honestly did not expect this to work outside of a sony erricson phone but it works! the next track and previous track buttons work as well, as does the play and stop buttons.
the hands free works fine as well with the person who called me not knowing i was on a hands free.
the volume control is awful, they decided to use a slider that half the time does not register me raising the volume and when it does its impossible to get the right volume setup, its either too high or too low and the slider is too imprecise to get the setting i want!
I cannot comment on the enclosed head phones as i never used them!
When i play some music through the device ( and that is of course what its for) the results are slightly dispaointing. the sound is okay, but that is about as best as i can describe it. maybe its because i am spoilt by the good quality output from the 3.5mm jack on the phone, maybe i am just used to having some EQ on (which the unit does not provide for and the phone says it cannot apply `audio booser` without somer thing being plugged in the 3.5mm jack) but the bass is there (thanks on no small part to the ehadphones rather than the unit) but the mid seems `transparent` with no real hit and the highs are annoyingly 'sparkly'. This os of course my opinion, and others may find the output perfectly fine and for comparison i also do not like the output of ipods as i find their mid lacking as well so if your happy with i pod output you maybe happy with this units output,
I have never needed to re charge the unit yet after 3 days of having it and listing to it in the morning for 2 hours and on the way home for an hour so the battery seems quite good.
I love the unit but the quality of the output means i will only really use it when i have to, prefering to use the audio jack output, i am however going to look into how the unit works as i suspect the phone is sending SBD encode audio and not the native mp3. if i can ge tthe unit to decode MP3 and the phone to send mp3 then i think we have a winner!
For reference i used CD originals encoded to lame 3.98 -V1.
just ordered mine. thanks for the review. i will also post up my opinion of the headset when it arrives. if it is as good as the include wired version, that will be good enough for me.
Hey thanks for the review as I'm getting one but you didn't speak about the radio does it work? anything else? cheers mate
Thanks for your review.
But could you edit it so that it's not so hard to read?
Spaces between a few sentences would suffice.
Thanks for the review, install WOW SRS and it should improve the sound quality via bluetooth but it will kill audio booster when plugged with the 3.5mm jack and always use WOW SRS.
Vrery nice, all working apart from Cyberon voice dialer, you can initiate Cyberon voice application by clicking the phone button on headset but can't pass voice to the phone as it doesn't recognize voice. It looks like the problem relates to cyberon not mw600.

It's a problem with the HD2 bluetooth stack. I managed to get it working with a new radio, a Miri ROM & a modified Cyberon cab

The Miri V10 ROM is on the HTCpedia forums (I think it is V11 now, not tried it)
Just got mine, tried it and I have to say:
THE MUSIC QUALITY IS CRAP!!!!!
headphones arrived today. WOW. excellent audio and far better than oem headphones. have yet to play with it on radio etc, but so far very impressive.
I have a problem
After the end of any audio file
Lose "stereo audio" connection
and have to push the play button to reconnect "stereo audio"
and also
After the end of calls
Lose "Hands Free" connection
and have to push the Talk button to reconnect "Hands Free"
but if i received a call
"Hands Free" reconnect automatically
But there is a delay for two seconds
I do not know this is normal?
Like power autosaving!!!
this is definately not normal. mine works flawlessly. no need to reconnect ever. i would suggest checking your bluetooth settings and pairing settings again to make sure everything is correct.
I am using smartWatchM with Sony Ericsson MBW-150
I think there is a conflict between the Watch and mw600 connection
The problem is from latest windows build (23569) & (21903 )
When i go back to an old build like (23519)
There is no conflict between the Watch and mw600 connection
Waiting for a solution to this problem or update for Windows without problems
Delays
Does anyone else experience a 3-5 sec delay when the HD2 jumps 1 song/chapter forward?
My combination gives a this delay, which is especially annoying when listening to audiobooks!
I miss a few seconds of every new chapter, need to manually jump 1 chapter forward and the back again.
Does not appear when manually going forward/reverse only when HD2 is in control.
