Someone here living in the UK posted that he got Orange UK desimlocked for free his mobile.
What I can tell you is: If you have some time and some money to lose calling Orange Custumer Service (I recommend you to call them not from your mobile but at 0825 005 700 from your home or office number because it's much cheaper) and if you find also a credible excuse to SIM unlock you phone, you have a possibility to get it. My excuse was I was going to Australia for 6 months on holidays and Orange mobiles there have not SIM card, so I needed to use my phone with other operator's SIM cards, because calling from Australia 6 months with my Orange Pro plan was too expensive and I couldn't buy a prepaid SIM card from Orange Australia and, obviously, I couldn't use a prepaid SIM card form other operator because my phone was SIM locked... I added that I have more than 400 addresses, phone numbers and emails in my SPV M2000 (which is true), so I couldn't see other possibility that to ask them to unlock my phone.
After a few calls and talk with some people, going to my France Telecom Shop (I made most calls to the Orange Customer Service from there, which I didn't pay), pretending that I had no clue that the phone was locked when I bought it...
After a few calls they proposed me to unlock my mobile for 76 euros. I bought it on December 30th, so it's still a good deal if you compare that a desimlocked Qtek costs more than 800 euros at Darty and I paid for mine only 475 euros. Then I realized that if I insisted a bit more, I could have it for free... and IT WORKED OUT!
They finally gave me the code to unlock the mobile.
I cannot give you here my IMEI number, but the code they gave is 79064041
Well, guys, maybe this works also in other Countries with other operators... you just have to be patient, to be lucky to speak with someone nice and pretend to be stupid.

when i called orange i found out they have to get the unlocking code from HTC.i wonder if htc can be contacted directly and code gotten from them.

I got the same comment from O2.....needs to go via HTC
now if we could recruit someone from HTC we could pay them some serious money worldwide !!!
Does the M2000 have any preinstalled orange themes in it?
if so, can someone post them
Guys,
After a few calls to Orange Custumer Service pretending to be a real stupid, they asked me my IMEI number (which they knew already because I made a mistake and the lady at the other end of the line corrected me). Then, they asked my my name and address (I suposse to be sure of my identity) and they gave me code. Nobody spoke to me about HTC... I even think that the person I spoke with knows about HTC...
It wasn't a very easy thing but it took me only 3 hours to get it.
My fisrt call was from home and the rest from France Telecom office just a few meters away from where I live.
Regards,
ArtZ

Hi folks, all you have read here about contacting O2 and getting a different reply is true. I have been trying to get the unlock code for my new IIs for a couple of weeks now and have been told various answers, "can not be done till after contract ends" etc., etc., on Thursday spoke to a very helpful girl in customer service Manchester and she got confused came back with the answer but was thinking I needed the PUK code not the network unlock. I then spoke to another guy who she patched me through to, this morning in my email was the network unlock code, he had to request it but that was pretty quick. I was upfront and told him that work issued my IIs and I was at penalty of dismissal if used outside work and so I had to carry 2 phones because my personal is on Orange, told him it was a twelve month contract with O2 so what was the problem, he agreed and I can now use the phone with a dual sim adaptor when it arrives. So the bottom line is KEEP trying persistance means you will get a helpful person in the end.
Unlock and Dual Sim
I read your posting and you mentioned a dual sim adaptor can you expand as work in two countries and have to carry two phones, but in the good old days I got a Nokia and small card that allowed two sims under the battery.
Try here:

I use this with my TMo US and O2 Pay and Go when in the UK. Hope this helps!

Voda are crazy which law the guy been charged ? Asukal please tell your friend I will support to him , I will post your post to all Chinese DPA forum let everyone in China support him.
I wish I could help... Never had a sim from Vodafone Germany and now I will never have one

Hi Asukal!
I hope your friend wins the case and goes free. I don't know anything about Japanese law but I hope judges in your country can see reason and not be bribed / pressured by Voda.
SIM locking should be illegal because it interferes with fair business. When cell companies sell you the phone with discount they force you to pay them certain amount each moth through the contract you sign with them so they get their money back anyway.
Not letting you unlock the phone is the same as forcing you to make certain number of phone calls each month and that's crazy.
Any way, best luck to you and your friend.
Sim locks suck!!!
Anybody that does anything to stop Sim locks should be thanked as it what the free market system is all about.
Got my support.
Thanks Guys!
we also have an idea, Unlock Business is not legal so well(?).
But accroding to my knowlidge, no country and no one were guilty
coz of Unlock Services.
Now Japan Operators are trying to establish precedent. and also brainwash Japanese citizen to inplant the concept "SIM Unlock Is Crime" To Destroy all SIM Unlock Business in Japan.
I believe The Japanese Courts and Law doesnt haveenough idea about SIM unlock or Mobile Business till today,to judge him faire.
So they picked up Forigner as 1st target to cook it easy.
So i dont hope this case will be the 1st one to be Guilty.
Not only the problem of my friends, but also all unlock business
and free market of Cellphone.
One small shope's Unlock Servce, can not bring the damege and lost of 4 hundred Million Japanese Yen of Voda.it is impossible.
That is the point they are not unfaire!
I also join all of you in support..Thanks God,,in India we are really free to use any phone with any SIM and is NOT CRIME

The link is no more valid. Can you get another one to get the full story.
I think the unlock should be possible in any country and support you !
This reminds me: a while back I saw an article stating that in the US there is now a law (only for 3 years though) that user will be able to unlock any PPC based phone purchased from the cell companies.
The article though wasn't quite clear whether this was referring to 'application unlock' (mostly matters for smartphones), SIM unlock or both.
By the way Asukal: How did this story turned out?
I hope the guy didn't get any prison time or huge fine.
My 2 Cents
I personally believe that Once someone buys a phone, one should be able to do what he/she wants with it.
If I paid for a phone or a computer, I want to be able to change it, break it, explode it or throw it into the fire if I want to.
Business practices should be strong and they should not try to cry if they find out those practices were faulty after the fact.
well as above really. i had the kaiser for a while now and dont use it much at all because its locked to t-mobile and i got a 3 sim card now with free calls and texts so am using me hermes as my main phone. any idea would be helpful because if its a long way off am going to try and sell my kaiser again.
cheers people
You could try ringing t-mobile and asking them for the unlock code - would cost you £15 and you might need a plausible excuse (such as travelling abroad and wanting to use a local sim card for cheaper calls) but so long as you're long enough into your contract they should let you have it. Can take a few days though....
If calling T-Mobile doesn't work for you, you could always look in ebay for someone selling an unlock service. I purchased mine on ebay for $14.00 (US), provided them with my IMEI, and received the unlock code within 24 hours. I put the code in and it worked like a charm.
Be careful using a 3 sim in another handset other than the 3 handset you upgraded to or took with a contract.
3 have been known to IMEI bar other non 3 specified handsets used by customers with 3 sims.

Hi guys,
I want just to ask which variant of HD2 you chose on this web site. There are several variant and i don't know if i must choose htc hd2 t8585 or htc hd2 (leo) or t-mobile htc hd2. Help please. I have htc hd2 t mobile locked
Thanks
npharmacy- $27 USD to unlock your phone, not bad! Heres the link: http://leo.unlock-now.com/sim-unlock-T-Mobile-HTC-HD2/
just search on ebay
I solved this problem for 7 pounds
If you have T-Mobile USA, just call them and tell them you are visiting family overseas, need to unlock it to not get killed with Roaming charges (want to put in a local sim when you get there)... they will e-mail one to you within 24-48 hours... best part is it's FREE!
I did teh same with T-Mobile UK and got it free also. I am a business customer I don't know if that makes a difference
Here in NYC its a 14 day period for new accounts or upgraded ones, to get the free unlock code
If you are in Uk, not a business customer and had the contract for more than a month it will cost you £15 and takes about 3/4 days
Yup- TMo wanted 14 days but I used htccode.com and one of the other guys used htc-unlocker.org
http://www.fuzemobility.com/300-off-contract-unlocked-hd2-update/
both worked for about the same price
I got the unloack code from htc-unlocker.org and it worked like a charm, paid almost $ 38 USD, as the new HD2 have some restricted codes unavailable from other sites, I did try a couple of others which were offering the code for as low as 15-20 USD but they didnt work, so ended up paying premium amount, but I can use my phone now.
Need Help
After we unlock the phone
can we use it on att network & do Tethering ?
how do we get the Att Tele nav on it ? will it work ?
Please Help
Thanks
buy a turbo sim mine works a treat you dont have to cut the sim card either

best frikin answer thanks man
thru ebay, cheap and fast
bought my unlock code on ebay for £6 (T-mobile)
worked in seconds !
If this is for T-Mobile USA:
simply search for "HTC HD2 T-Mobile unlock code" on ebay. I unlocked mine for US$8 i think. When ordering, you have an option to type in a message to the seller. Type in the Carrier name (e.g. Tmobile USA) and the IMEI number, which you can find on the phone settings software or behind the battery.
It's a very simple process and I received my code by email within a couple of hours following payment.

I did the search, but can't find anyone to send it via email. They state it will be sent via postal mail in compliance with ebay's policy.
Thought you guys might like to know this, i did it for free on my hd2 from O2 uk.
Fill the form out and sazam free unlock code in afew days.
http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI...0000002826929629,K=6494,Sxi=8,Case=obj(14790)
Are O2 unlocking them? I thought they werent due too exclusivity. Same with my Dell Streak, I had to use a Rebel SimCard
Sorry to spoil the fun but I just read on that page...
If you're a Pay Monthly customer then you can request for your handset to be unlocked at any time, free of charge. The only exception are handsets which are exclusive to O2

And from all the press releases bombarded at us, we know that the HTC HD7 is (in the UK) an O2 Exclusive handset
It works. I filled out the form about an hour ago and just got the unlock code e-mailed to me. Tested with a Vodafone sim and it works.
My imei code is 17 digit but the form only accepts 15, What do I do.
Just use the first 15 digits.
Alright, thanks.
I just got my unlock code and all works
Has anyone tried this with a PAYG phone but selecting the word contract in the form instead?

No I didn't mean that. I meant has someone bought a PAYG HD7 then went to the O2 online form and pretend you bought a contract phone in order to try and cheat to see if they would still send an unlock code?
i also got a pay-n-go phone, but put my simplicity contract sim in

Whatch this space and I'll report back. I have a 30-day simplicity plan =and brought my phone on PAYG (the new name for buying outright from O2). I have put my request in against my Simplicity mobile number, I am expecting them to honour it under Simplicity so will report back.
I would like to update from my previous post to say I've officially eaten my hat.
As information for others out there, I am on a Sim Only Simplicity price plan and bought my HD7 on PAYG. I filled out the form using my simplicity account information and lo and behold, the following day I got my unlock code. And yes, I tested it and it works.
I have no intention of moving away from O2 at the moment as I signed up during the unlimited data times before they added a cap as well as treating me well, but it's nice to know the option is there later down the line in case.
I guess you chose pay monthly in the choose account option right? I have been on simplicity for around 15 months now so I guess I qualify for unlock as I pay monthly too, even though on simplicity and even though a PAYG handset?
My understanding is that it is an european legal requirement that if you want to use it on another carrier you can (you bought it, you are allowed to use it as you see fit etc.).
However you are still bound to your contract...
Gordon.
I was thinking of getting this device and getting it on PAYG.
Personally I don't really think any other network can offer as good deal for PAYG anyway
