Siemens SX66, AT&T, Update Rom Problem - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I've read through the wiki and the forums, and I've found similar issues, but not a solution. So I thought i would post here to see if anyone has the solution.
I have a Siemens SX66 which I bought from AT&T.
It came with this information:
ROM version: 1.32.10 WWE
ROM Date : 12/17/04
Radio Version : 1.02.10
Protocol Version : 1337.35
ExtROM Version : 1.32.115 WWE
The model # is PH20B1 (if that helps).
When trying to upgrade to the latest ROM from the Siemens site, it gives me an invalid country id error and won't perform the upgrade.
I have read an article in here about country id problems and manually upgrading the radio stack. But I would like to have the complete update.
If anyone has solved this problem, or has any information, I would appreciate any help!
Thanks,
jeff

Upgrade for my XDA IIs from Singapore

Hi,
Little intro..New O2 convert here. Was a P910 user.
I was wondering whether I could get an upgrade as I have been getting these glitches:
1) Caller ID photos is unstable.. i.e. occasionally shows caller photos..
2) Hangs occasionally
My version:
ROM version: 1.12.62 WWE
ROM date: 10/04/04
Radio Version: 1.02.00
Protocol version: 1337.32
ExtROM Version: 1.12.925 WWE
Can anybody help me?????
Well, it seems that we're a little bit out of luck. The official upgrade from O2 is still for UK region only, Asian upgrade probably not that long on the road, just be patient for a while (although I'm starting to get annoyed myself with all this unstability :? )
Hangs occasionally? Mine restarts itself occasionally...
Upgrade of CAller ID software??
Is it possible to upgrade the Caller ID software I have now to a "stable" one? I am having the version 1.17..

I have a Asia IIs and just came back from service center. They upgrade the ROM for me (I didn't ask for it).
Here is what I got
ROM Version: 1.31.00 WWE
ROM Date: 12/13/04
Radio version: 1.02.00
Protocol version: 1337.32
ExtROM version: 1.31.920 WWE
Hangs occasionally? Restarts itself occasionally? Mine hard reset itself occasionally...
Same here
I'm also having the auto hard problem, after sending to O2 service centre the same problem happened again...
They claimed that is a 3rd party software problem.
Yatlee,
Is it possible for you to upload your latest ROM and extended ROM as I have an O2 Hongkong XDAIIs and can probable use yours since O2 UK ROM does not work.
"Is it possible for you to upload your latest ROM and extended ROM as I have an O2 Hongkong XDAIIs and can probable use yours since O2 UK ROM does not work."
How to do it?
Well, My story goes like this: I came to this website which is great resource. Like many others here, I tried using some of the upgrade posted here. I was very careful and just want to try out the radio upgrade, but not the other ROM, ext-ROM stuff. I upgraded to 1.06.02 from the FTP server. My unit was stable before the upgrade. After the upgrade, I got constant call (out or receive) without sound. I had to soft reset to have the unit go back to normal. Even after I went back to 1.02 (again download thru FTP server), I had the same problem.
I called O2 support. They said it's external software problem. Of course, I did tell them I flash the Radio ROM myself. I was about to give up my XDA all together. I sent it into the repair center. When I picked up the unit, they said everything is normal, but they upgrade the firmware. So far, after two days without soft reseting, my unit is still stable and no more call without sound. I swear I will not tinker any new firmware unless it is release for Asia O2 XDA IIs. It's too much pain.
Another thing, the FW I got does not have O2 active which has reported to be a piece of trash anyway.
Upgraded BT to 3900
I'm also wary of updating my unit with ROM that's designed for other countries. That's why I'm waiting patiently for the ROM update for my unit which I bought in Malaysia.
The only thing I've messed with is upgrade my BT from 3500 to 3900. I did that because I couldn't get my Sony HBH-660 headset to connect. Since I updated BT, my headset works properly now albeit with a few hiccups.
hi yatlee,
may i know what're the rom specs u have right now?
Excellent upgrade for me!
I'm from Malaysia and recently has bought an XDA IIs with the 1.31.00 WWE ROM (Rom Date: 13 Dis,2004), Radio Version 1.02.00, Protocol 1337.39, Bluetooth BT-PPC/PE Version 1.0.0 Build 3500, and extROM 1.31.920 WWE. My unit always hang from time to time aspecially when I put various kind of softwares on it. But 3 days ago I've upgraded it as below:
1. Radio ROM: 1.02.00 WWE to 1.08.00 WWE
2. Caller ID: 1.17 to 1.20
3. MMS Composer: 2.0.0.13 to 2.0.0.16
4. ClearVue: 2.4.381 to 2.4.386
Outcomes:
1. It doesn't hang anymore (3 days of uses).
2. Good network signal reception
3. Faster respond.
Now I'm waiting for better ones.
The Radio ROM is downloaded from xda-developers.com ftp with the name KPN_Rom QTEK 9090 Radio 1.0.8.
Sorry for bad English.
My specs...
I've also updated the RADIO with the KPN version. I found out later it's only an upgrade for the GSM module.
Can somebody post this asian xdaIIs ROM here????
Thanks very much in advance.
Cheers,

Hey cyphol... Could you please check your MMS composer version by going to MMS Settings>About tab to see what version is shown on yours? I ran the 2.0.0.16 update cab without any problem but the version on my about tab still shows as 2.0.0.13... was wondering if any body had the same problem

Upgrading ROM and RADIO - Australia

Hi guys, I am in Australia on the TELSTRA Network and would like to upgrade my PDA2K from:-
ROM Version : 1.22.00 WWE
ROM Date: 10/22/04
Radio Version: 1.06.00
Protocol Version: 1337.38
ExtROM Version: 1.22.162 WWE
to the latest ROM 1.31 and Radio 1.10.0.
Would you recommend this upgrade and what would be the best way to do it.
I have a lot of experience with upgrading my O2 XDA II and working with it's ExtROM.
Just wanting to make sure I am doing it correctly before I jump in.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I've just bought an XDA IIs in Perth and brought it back to the UK. I've sucessfully upgraded it to 1.31 & 1.10.0 with the use of the O2 UK upgrade ROMs and the info on this forum (although this is an ASIA unit).
I'm presuming that you'll need to cook your ext rom as there does not appear to be a shipped ASIA 1.31 set (if you want to keep the auto configuration tool for the asain telco networks etc.).
You will also probably want to upgrade the Bluetooth drivers to the latest reliable stack (I believe this is 1.0.0 build 3900) and upgrade the caller ID software to v1.20 and MMS software to 2.0.0.16.
Hope that helps?
Danny
Would there have country id error in case Andy need to upgrade?

Should i upgrade my rom?

To start with I have had my xda iis only a few days. The roms is:
ROM version: 1.12.62 WWE
ROM date: 10/04/04
Radio version: 1.02.00
Protocol version: 1337.32
ExtROM version: 1.12.178 WWE
There are numerous comments on here and the wiki about different rom and radio updates. Could anyone sum up the benefits and differences for me if i upgrade rom or radio please?
Can nobody advise a newcomer to xda iis and these forums? On other subjects I've had a really good response but nobody seems to want to advise me on this thread.
martlewis - you know there's a new ROM out, everyone's busy trying that out! Windows Mobile 2005. If you feel confident in doing a backup, try that one. It's got serious issues to be resolved, but you're lucky enough to own a device that can be upgraded.
I've got a magician, so can't help re your specific rom.
V
martlewis,
If you can wait for the new ROM WM5 to be developed it will be OK for you, but if you can't I would suggest that you should up-grade to the latest available ROM up-date which is as follows:
ROM version : 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date : 03/10/05
Radio version : 1.13.00
Protocol version: 1377.42
ExtRom version : 1.40.176
This is the best performing ROM version as at now.
Regards
sorry for my intrimission!
I have a pda2k with italian rom, but I would to like to have the system language in english.
To upgrade the rom: I must download the version 1.40.00 WWE from wiki and then run the update using: MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe.. right?!
Dear Mart...
I have tried the new ROM which I've been waiting for a long time. Once installed, I liked it. Howerver, I started to find out that there are many problems that I'm not used to with WM2003 SE, therfore, I downgraded to WM2003.....until these issues are resolved. SO.... if know how to upgrade, and if you know how to downgrade in case you didn't like the new ROM......Then give it a try......apart from the issues it has....still I like it. Finally it's another new Microsoft Windows that will take some time to get stable.
Cheers
I decided to wait for the official new ROM to be developed and published on the I-mate site to download and up-grade.
What's happening now is just trials for resolving the problems users are facing with the new WM5 ROM.
My device is working fine now with the 1.40 ROM version and 1.13 Radio version.
The only problem I'm facing is the statics in BT headset and I hope that we can find some solution for this problem in the near future, otherwise everything is going just fine.
Regards

Closer,
I think that you have to simply download the english version and install it to your PDA2K through the computer cable. After the installation is complete, you will be having the english version installed on your PDA2K.

Upgrading US T-Mobile MDA

Hello,
I have a new US version T-Mobile MDA witht the following:
ROM Version: 2.16.9.1 WWE
ROM Date: 2/6/06
Radio Version: 02.07.10
Protocol Version: 413.1.03
ExtROM Version: 2.16.9.101
I just upated my device with the instructions provided in one of the froums. I had hoped this upgrade would have provided for A2DP, but apparently does not. Can someone lead me to the correct ROM required?
I have prowled all over the forums and cannot seem to find a single thread that can provide the ROM link and the information I need. More problematic is that whenever I try to download a file from within the forum it fails.
Also, when setting up my profile, after selecting my device all the ROM versions were at least 3.x.x.x or higher...didn't even know there were available ROMS that high!
I would sure appreciate any help that anyone here can offer.
Warm regards,
Cameron
what you need to do is go here:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Qtek
and get the file that reads:
RUU_Prodigy_2080701_101_11310_Qtek_WWE_Test.exe
this has the new BT stack that supports the A2DP.
Worked Great
Thank you very much for your help! I guess A2DP has some way to go...music gets chopped up a bit about every 25-30 seconds...but it is convenient.
I notice with this ROM Upgrade it would seem I lose email push...not a big deal, hopefully a better ROM will be released soon.
Thanks again I do appreciate your help.
Cheers,
Cameron

Need the Original ROM for O2 XDA IIs (Asia)

Does anybody has the original ROM that shipped with O2 XDA IIs from O2 Asia? I tried to search through this web site but I couldn't find the original one. I found only the upgraded one. I already contact O2asia but they refused to give it to me.
Depends what you mean by "Original" The following link will have the latest official ROM for the O2 XDA IIs, but if you are after an earlier version then you may have a problem.
http://www.seeo2.com/support/template/RomUpgrade.vm
Can I ask why do you need this?
you see this link
http://www.mwg.com/xda-iis_servicemenu.aspx
email: [email protected]
DT: 0988234169
xda iis ph20b
rom version: 5.60.00 wwe
rom date: 03/02/05
radio version: 1.06.00
protocol version: 1337.38
Something wrong after upgrade to the latest ROM
Yep, the one that I need is the original one that comes with the phone. So, it's the earlier version, not the latest upgrade.
The reason why I need the ROM is because after I upgrade to the latest one (posted on the MWG, SeeO2, or here), my phone stop working in my office which located in a basement. It used to work fine before upgraded. BTW, it works OK in most places.
So far, I have tried to upgrade/downgrade the radio ROM. I tried almost all of them, 1.02.00, 1.06.00, 1.08.00, 1.10.00, 1.12.00, 1.13.00, and 1.15.00. No luck, they gave me the same result, no signal in my office. Today, I compared my phone and the other phone under the same carrier (cingular/AT&T). My phone kept saying "No Signal", but the other have almost full signal strenght. I can use the other phone to call without any problem. I did try to soft reset but it still couldn't find the network (no signal).
That's why I would like to try the original ROM that I used to have before I upgraded. Just want to make sure that the latest updated ROM is not the cause of my problem. For the original ROM, I think it should be as follows:
CE Image Version: 1.31.00
Extended Image Version. 1.31.920
Radio Image Version 1.02.00
Or if you have any suggestions, please let me know. I willing to try everything just to make this phone work in the most important place for me...my office.
