Can someone explain what the lock is technically - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

We are discussing the lock problem for so long, can someone explain what the lock is (technically)?
where is it located?
why does the flashing of a new ROM not override the lock?
why is there a major difference between the unlock technique for the Blueangel devices that doesn't allow for an "upgrade" to the unlock program from the older devices?
is anyone working on an unlock for the Blueangel?
Thanks,
David G. Fret
P.S. - Sorry for the cross thread (I first posted it on a news article by mistake)...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1340276&postcount=1 is the only one I know of. It's a pre-release device, so many of the tools are not tested / modified for the device yet.
Gordon
How exactly did you get this from the uk and where from?!
lol I'd be very happy if you told me..
Pardon for attempting to thread jacking ... but since we're on the topic of "unlocking" ...
May I ask "Howto" regarding "APP UNLOCKING" on the Kaiser ?? do we still go ahead using the __>> SDA_ApplicationUnlock that's floating around ??
Thanks

Before you unlock your kaiser I would suggest waiting for a kaiser verified unlocking tool to use. I'm kind of new to this community but I think it's better SAFE than sorry when dealing with possibly bricking your phone.

Thank you for the kind advice
I think it quite safe when dealing with APP UNLOCKING ( worse that can happen you can always hard reset.
now, CID/SIM unlocking ( like the thread topic ) is a whole different ball game.
again ... Thanks
For how much ?
Hi Peter,
Congrats on ur new Kaiser, for how much did u get it ?
Thanks,

[QUESTION] Howto Sim unlock your Xperia?

Howto Sim unlock your Xperia?
Don't know how I must do this? Can somebody help me with it? For free!
Sorry if the Topic is posted in the wrong section.
Cheers,

think the only way to do that is to flash the rom to the one u want (eg. vodaphone uk - generic uk [sim free]).
there is a thread at the top of the page that tells u how to do this.

Rhodium/Touch Pro 2/AT&T Tilt 2 CID/Security/SIM Unlocker

Alright folks, Touch Pro 2 SIM Unlocker (also for AT&T Tilt 2) sorted, enjoy the usual boilerplate text:
1) contributing forum members & Elite Team donators... Request a free unlock with your IMEI & email. - if you have an account that has a) existed for a good few months and b) you actually contribute to the site (technical wizardy, or general helpfulness - CONSISTENT AND REGULAR POSTING), then just drop me a message and it's yours, if you don't meet both a) and b) then don't bother - having an account that you rarely posted from is NOT in the least bit interesting.
2) everyone else (new accounts/unregistered/sod all posts, this means you): Get SIM unlocked Here
Seems to work great
Just one question though what whould the "Set CID" field contain?
Worked great!
Big thanks to both of you!
Someone please sticky this!
FYI - besides the normal steps of disabling your firewall and anti-virus -- if you're connected on a corporate LAN going through a proxy, it may not work. I had to switch to an open WiFi network and turn off my proxy settings in my browser before it would allow step 2 to go through.

generally, 00000000 (SuperCID), unless you want to change it to something specific, whatever CID you had or whatever you like.

I've used your unlocking method when I had my first PDA phone (TYTN - 8525 up to TYTN II 8925) I had a BB (yeah I got burned) and now back on TP2 good for you on getting paid for your time and effort....
I just had mine unlock locally would have done it with if I saw it earlier (although local here in US is dirt cheap too )
Sticky

00000000 is SuperCID, but this is different from the region lock.
we only need security unlock, am i right?
Why should we use unlock superCID?

supercid is just a cool feature. if you enable that, then even if you put stock spl back, you are still supercid. but that's of course only for HTC signed roms.
the more interesting features are the SIM and the Security unlock
i think that thread must be sticky
Nice Work
Already requested unlock code from T-Mobile USA and received.
Just wanted to say Thanks
I was wondering if i get the unlock code from T-mobile to SIm unlock the phone, would I still need ti CID unlock it?

You probably best going into the thread where the app originates from and asking in there,im sure the dev will help a lot more intenstly then here.
Not saying you wont get help just saying it good for you and for feedback too the dev if you post your problem in their thread.

Cheers ......I think people have took pity on me ....... They have looked at your response and sent me emails on how to change it. ...
To be honest answer yes without sharing or passing on a help link is not helpful .... ... Based on the emails from forum members it must be your usual response
Care to share the answer, anyone?
Currently there is not yet a way to change this with WP8 devices. On WP7 you were able to change this using CustomROMs or by flashing an unbranded Stock ROM. Given how new the devices are we haven't yet found ways to unlock them and flash CustomROMs. At least I don't know yet wether you can flash an unbranded ROM - with HTCs newer Android devices that was not possible but all WP7 devices were able to do that.
So in short: not yet but I guess we'll find out soon.
