Hi, I've opened this thread to correspond if a new development project that has started on WIKI. The concept behind this project is to support users of the SX66 (PH20B1) available in the US. There is a good community of folks using this model, and a users group seems to be forming. Giving that this community has varied levels of the technical skills, this idea came to me as a way of further increasing the growth of the BA adoption in the US, while reducing the need of me helping folks one at a time. But I must give credit where credit is due, the knowledge I bring to this project was all gained from the hard work and dedication of users here. Work that I would be lost without.
I have posted a Beta I trial for a 1.40.121 (cooked for the SX66 WWE Cingular) EXT ROM, and have invited select users to assist in the testing. This space will be used for feedback.
Update 5/12/05 - I've posted a Beta 2 release: Check out the Dev page at the link below for deatils:

Thanks,

Thank you for your effort, Chris. add me too.
Do you recommend upgrading to Windows Mobile 2005? I have downloaded the SW and wanna check first.
thx
where do you download this? or are you just sending it to people?
My friend, I will post the links to the forum now.
-----------
I am not responsible if you system has any problem because of this upgrade.
the bluetooth does not work on Beta2-S1.40.00-R1.12.00.E1.40.122
I can't pair my headset
KS, even after a soft reset? I've got 1.40.122 running without incident, but the BT files haven't changed, so it should not be an issue.. It is built on the 3900 stack included in the 1.40.00 system ROM, with only an add on to put the stereo headset in.
What headset are you using?
-Chris
Here is the link to the DEV page, which includes a link to the current kit:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Wiki_Dev_Test5
Let me also point out, as I think it may be confused in some of the earlier posts. This is an EXT ROM for System ROM 1.40.00, which is Windows Mobile 2003 SE, not 2005.
-Chris
thanks Chris. this is nice, had been wanting to upgrade my sx66 but was just too lost to cook my own ...
the cabs included sounds good and i'm going to try it tonite!
feedback once its done. thanks once again.
AlmondKing,
Looking at your flag, and provider logo, I just wanted to point out that the files contain customizations for Cingular as they are required in the US. Hope that is not a problem.
Everyone,
Found my first bug. There is a problem in the version cab. I got creative, and tried the set the version to 1.40.122 (Cooked).... Well, the getdevicedata doesn't seem to like that. It doesn't seem to create a problem when flashing, but it records the EXT rom version as blank when reflashing. I've updated the version CAB, and will have it in beta 3.
-Chris

Jerry, I believe the files you are trying to delete are the one that are part of the System ROM, and can't be deleted. This is why you are getting the in use error.

OK, I'm sure I'm just an idiot, but I followed the instructions in the "Getting started" section, since I have the Brightpoint version of the Qtek, not the Dangaard. But I couldn't get it to work, probably because I haven't got the correct password in the editfix.bat. Can anybody help me with that?
See this thread mate...: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20770
Or read this thread, which will explain it also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20339
And uh, have you read wiki?
See my signature for link.
Hope that helps
Yes, I did read the Wiki. Didn't understand much of it, but I did read it...
And thanks for that thread, adding the line [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1 made it start updating! With any luck it will work. But then again with my luck...
Change the boot picture
Hello,
Updated my Qtek9090 to this version but the only complain i have is that the boot picture after a reset is UGLY. :x
They put a text in the image
www-windowsmobile-no + Qtek support number.
Is there a way to change the picture ??
I could not find anything about this ?
Does anybody have the QTEK cloud picture without the text.
Could you upload this to the FTP ?
Thx for your time
I wasn't that lucky... It just was stuck on "getting device info". Now I've got a unit that switches between showing a grey screen with USB and a grey screen with SERIAL... The annoying thing is that I remember I had that problem on one of the official upgrades, but I can't remember what I did. I probably just left it without a battery over night, though. Oh, and when I tried to restart that upgrade I saw the country ID error again. So perhaps just adding that line to the cfg wasn't what you were trying to divert my attention to in that other thread. Or was it?
Restart your computer and try the upgrade again...usually works.
And no, that was not a diversion, why should we?
I should stop using long words with serveral meanings when I don't know all the meanings myself... I ment divert in the sense that you divert traffic - showing me the way to that other thread.
ER2003Edit
Could somebody upload ER2003Edit to the blueangel >> Tool folder.

when a new for imate ?¿?

Gotcha. I'm going with the one on the forum's FTP. I assume that's the same one as the official one I downloaded from the windowsmobile.no site. Maybe I can get my at the moment rather expensive paper weight back from "USB SERIAL"...
I often get the USB/SERIAL problem. Best thing to do is just kill activesync via task manager. I think wcescomm.exe is the one. Then just re-run the upgrade. Should run through, but it won't have anything in the screen that tells the to and from version info for the 'from' info.
Cheers

Aaargh! To quote a certain young mr. Brown with a rather round head and a wacky dog: "Good grief!" I thought I was rather computer litterate having spent the last 20 years around them, but any old dog can learn new tricks, it seems...
Finally the upgrade of the main rom went nicely, and also the extended ROM, it was very much a by the numbers job as soon as I understood where to look. Kitchen? Man, I know we've got something called that in my house... Oh yes, that's the mysteriuos room where my wife goes into half an hour to one hour before dinner and then emerges again with the food!
Finally the radio ROM, and I'm good, I hope. It will be interesting to test this stuff and see how it works! Thanks for the help! I feel like a dangerous hacker now, so look out, Norway!

No camera
Hi everybody,
I like the new 1.40 rom but even after trying some camera fixes off the wiki, My camera stills ("failed to initialize"). Any tips from anyone would be great!!
I have the entire contents of the XDA 2i Alpine (PH10C) on my site, you can download it here. Please tell me if you find it useful.
Since a few people have downloaded it.... anyone have any idea which cab file is used to add the bloody annoying o2 active UI? i'm thinking one of the 2MB~ files....... man I hate that thing
v36024_install.ARM.CAB
v36024_install.ARM.CAB
This is evil... it's the o2 Active UI installer file.
When installing, just choose the "Corporate" option and use the password "0506" this will stop the O2 customisations (Ie it wont install that cab)

Hi Jayplucinski
Thanks for the timely posting
I'm a novice at the XDA2i, but curiostity has got the better of me and i would like to upgrade the features in extended ROM.
I'm currently doing the rounds of the various threads, working out how and what to do.
Do you have a breakdown on what each of the cabs do??
A location of or for useful cabs / exe's to install?? I think this would be a useful resource for upgraders like myself.
Thanks

I'm a novice too But some of the file names give things away a bit. Why not search for the filenames on google or on the forum itself? I'm sure that would weild a few results. But as you will see in my posts above.. I know which file installs the evil resource hog that is o2 Active UI
Hi Jayplucinski
Thanks anyway
Have noted the evil one!!
Miket
Hi jayplucinski, can you post me the Today Plug-in "Message".....Thanks !
Just to let y'all know
The file was deleted from my server about a week ago, after 800MB + of downloads, my provider was about to start charging me... so I had no choice The good news is, that I just FTP'd the file to XDA Developers And you can see it for download below If it starts to get a heavy load, i'll TRY and put it back on my site... but I'd need cash for that, of which I have none Donations please, JKS. Anyways enjoy.... again.
SNIP: It would have, but:
Upload Error: Could not upload Attachment to ./files/2i.rar.
FFS.
 I want to see if we could pool together our knowledge on the T-Mo US customizations to document what they do, and whether they are relevant going from one release to the other.
I started with the 1.08 ROM and later upgraded to MrClean's 2.24a. What I want to do is bring the phone to as close to the original T-Mo US customization as possible; however I don't want to apply some 1.08 customizations that were there to take care of specific 1.08 issues (hotfixes, workarounds, etc.)
So to that extent, I am attaching below all the customizations from the T-MO US 1.08 ROM's Extended ROM section.
Let's get comments on what they do and whether they should or should not be applied on a 2.24a ROM due to changes to the OS. Please feel free to update the XLS file attached, and please remember to keep document tracking ON, so that we can see how the document is changing over time.
Credits go to the author's of the tools I have used:
Willem Jan Hengeveld - typhoondecode.pl and fatinfo.pl
SPV Developers - Typhoon NBF tools
XDA Developers - Hosting of the various ROM images
Re your question, "DiscoButton" is the GPRS Disconnect Button.
Andre
Andre,
Is that the one that appears in the connectional baloon after connecting to GPRS?
Would you happen to know what purpose the customization serves (enables/disables the button)?
thanks,

I think so, yes. It enables the button on the ballon I think.

This will enable all the sound events (MenuPop, MenuSel, etc) in Windows Mobile. I also included \Windows\MenuSel.wav since it's missing in WM6.
Download the CAB to your device
Install the CAB
Open Sounds & Notifications in the Control Panel
View the Notifications tab
Hit Ok
You don't need to soft-reset.
For those who are interested in who this works read on.
I found an article on MSDN describing how to hide system sound events.
I added the .AllSounds MultiString value, set .Scheme to .AllSounds and changed the EventMask to FFFFFF.
MenuSel.wav isn't really missing in WM6. Its named hwandsw.wav. The file I included in this CAB is just hwandsw.wav renamed to MenuSel.wav since this is the file name WM6 will be looking for.
good job. Installed and working here...
You know, at some point someone needs to start the definitive thread with *ALL* of the patches and hacks to bring this ROM to speed. I'm getting sleepy from all the threads I'm reading now.
Again, nice work...

PERFECT
Hi neophit,
works like a charm!
Thanks a lot
FREIMAURER
Great job!
Thanks neophit. So very nice to see people that can research and share their knowledge!
This blew me away as all I've been seeing for the last week is "PM me the link please, purty please" and the usual CID unlocking and other questions that have been answered billions of times before.
Again, Thanks dude!
You're welcome!
I've learned a lot from this forum and used many fixes/patches (including the CID unlock guides ).
This was my first contribution! Hopefully, I'll be able to do more in the future.
Is this CAB just a cab version of the registry import you posted here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1106871&postcount=23
Yes. I also added the MenuSel.wav to this cab.
good job
thanks
Thanks dude. Works perfectly!

I'm here to say excuse me to all the people that has used my roms, that has supported me in different ways... I was absent here for a while, this was due to some reasons, I've had some problems in my life(nothing serius), anyway I had to sell my HD, so, the development of all my HD roms is ended
What to say, I want to thanks xda-developers becouse I met so many wonderful people here and I've learned many things too.
So, thank you people for this wonderful experience, I hope to give my contribution to this community again in the future

Hi all,
this is my 6.5_V-8.5, some changes from 6.5_V-8.
This rom is based on the new 1.56 rom, so you need 1.54 SPL or 1.56 HSPL to work with this rom.
I've used the last Manila from the official 1.40 Topaz rom and many other things from there.
This time I've deleted any flip app, only in this way the new htc album and other apps works very good. For the apps that you want to rotate simply press and hold the call answer button and it'll rotate the screen. Anyway for some apps the rotation is enabled by registry key, so if you want to stop to rotate some of them you have to edit these reg keys:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList]
"SMS"="_Dialog"
"Manila"="_Manila"
"Opera"="Opera_MainWndClass"
"Calculator"="CalculatorMain"

Fixed the backlight manula settings problem.
Updated Core and build to 21222.
Reverted to Opera build 15086(for some reasons).
Reverted to the standard Topbar icons.
Added Titanium Bliss skin, really beutyful.
You have two versions, ST, with the standard 6.5 features plus some stuff from Topaz, and the Manila
version with TF3D.
Many thanks to Da_g and the other people working on WM6.5!

What's New in 6.5
Hi
here i am looking at 6.5. Maybe its me but other than a few tweaks to the Start menu and the close button options, i can't see anything different.
Are we sure this is 6.5? If it is, i am seriously upset that MS has not put any finger friendly enhancements in it

I've extracted the xip from the payload into Raphael Da_G kitchen, then I've used Ervius xipporterex r35. Then, try to download his kitchen(you will find it on Raphael rom section), and start from his xip.
