tools to backup and restore a BA bootloader - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I've seen techniques to backup & restore CE ROM, Radio and ExROM but haven't spotted one for bootloaders. Is there a way to backup a bootloader to an SD card and restore it to a different Blue Angel?
Thanks.

IPL and SPL ROM versions and or updates

It goes like this, I have a cingular 8125 I updated it to 2.8.7 and it was good but it overwrote my extended rom, so to repair it I had to flash back to 1.5.4 and Overwrite the extended ROM with my Cingular backup I made with aWizard, so I have the extended rom fixed. So I used the aWizard to update just the OS ROM back to 1.8.11 from my cingular backup, but I noticed my SPL and IPL versions went from 2.?? to 1.?? going back to the 1.5 ROM. A side note when I do a hard reset it locks up while installing my cingular stuff from the extended ROM and it never did before. Any1 have any ideas how to use my backup to restore it completly or how to update the SPL and IPL or how to unlock the ROM on the 2.8.7 ROM ? Thanks alot!

Reverting back to TMO US factory config

I updated to the latest iMate ROM and want to revert back to the factory T-Mobile US configuration. I managed to flash back the OS and radio ROM backups, but the boot screens still show HTC. Also, it seems like the ext ROM is protected or something. I unlocked it and it's visible, but I can't copy to or from it. Lastly, what are the IPL and SPL versions? Is that not restorable from aWizard backups? Thanks in advance!

sd card rom update possible?

question: my usb connector came off the board. i have an ancient qtek 9100 rom installed (probably the originally shipped rom), but i do want to update. is it possible to do a sd card rom update? i can't find any thread about it, but i know that the mdaC3 is able to do a nbh rom update in bootloader. is something similar possible for the qtek 9100 (if so, a short how to is appreciated).

I've been wondering the same thing. Anyone?
The SD only allows flashing if phone is CID unlocked and if image has the phone's values; and even then it's a VERY DANGEROUS procedure that can make a phone non-functional!!
My case:
Last time i messed around with it (two weeks ago) i had an image from my own phone backed up that have been used to easily restore the OS and all other parts. It started fine with the formatting but when it reached the writing part an error popped up (can't recall what, if checksum or other ). I thought: "Ok, lets do it via RUU." (in Portuguese, of course )
So i rebooted the phone and the screen became all white and flashing . Luckily the bootloader was still accessible and the RUU saved my day.

Your post scared me.
Btw, are you saying that you are using a Ghost-like software to backup your OS into the SD card? and then "Ghost" the image back using the same software? Can you tell me or PM me which software are you using? I want to try it

It's the bootloader itself that does it
Phone must be CID unlocked and a SD card with, at least 128 MB. Enter bootloader, start mtty (wcescomm.exe already killed) and type 'r2sd all'
that's it

Thanks mate.
Sadly, I am using a CID Locked Wizzard. Can you send the mtty to me please?
I can only find the 1.0 version for it. Cheers
[email protected]
or PM me where I can download it
see if this one is more recent

cheers
PS:
Have you answered your signature's question?
The big question is:
Do you have a secondary Wizard to flash from.
I found that the 3.08 IPL did not want to accept the r2sd all command.
So keep it safe on 2.x devices.
And in your case i wouldn't even go into the r2sd all command as you don't want to go touching your IPL SPL or Radio in G4 devices.
But i think if you keep searching you will probaply find the command for only fllashing the OS. Methinks at least.
But still do you have a second device?

Someone told me that I could use the Mtty to check whether my G4 is unlocked or not.
But I still can't find the lastest Mtty.
Btw, the Mtty you gave is the one I tried. It is VERSION 1.0
You can use WST to check if your Wizard is CID unlocked
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295038
However, if you didn't pay for imei-check.co.uk and your G4 Wizard is not a second-hand, they it is 99.9% a locked one because there is no known free method to unlock a G4 Wizard.

Stuck in Bootloader

Hi,
I've flash my phone to the Schaps_WM6Pro_Trinity_4.30.2008_WWE_Full ROM and after several Soft Resets my M700 is stuck in the original bootloader screen.
My USB port does not work so I copied the des bootloader and ROM onto ny SD Card. Launched the des bootloader and the the ROM was flashed successfully. After some soft resets to change various registry settings the device is now stuck in the original bootloader screen (SPL-1.07.0000).
I've tried to flash the ROM again but it goes to a grey screen saying "loading" then displays "000068002". I've tried various ROMS and get the same error code.
As the orginal bootloader is displayed I think it's looking for a ROM with the same CID. The phone is a UK Orange M700.
Does anyone know where I can get the Orginal UK Orange ROM from? I've tried the Mozzer one without any luck and found French ROM gives me the error message "no allowed".
Hard Reset does not work, just takes me to the bootloader screen and I've left the battery on overnight.
As the USB does not work I can't use mmty to reset the device.
Please help
Thank you
Look on the Trinity WiKi and use the CD card flash method. This will allow you to flash without using the USB. Works every time
I can flash from SD card, but as the original bootloader is loaded I need ROM with CID from Orange UK
Oh... you need to unlock your phone first. That is probably where you are running into your problem. or you could try downloading your OEM rom and flash that using the sd card, then unlock, then have at it with a cooked rom
Has anyone got Part02.raw dump from an Orange UK M700. I might be able to build a new ROM if I can get my hands on one.
Thanks
Maybe you will find here

Hi fktsndr
I've tried those without any luck.
I've bitten the bullet and have sent it off for repair.

OK, if you get it back I suggest you to replace the original spl to hard-spl!
With hard-spl you will not stuck in bootloader any more.
But of course you can restore the original spl
Yep,
have learnt my lesson and if the phone is repairable then I'll Hard-SPL it and take a backup of my ROM.
Cheers for the help
One last question
mobile phone couldn't fix it so looks like a trip to Orange which could be pricey, but one last question. I have various nbh files for the M700 but they all have the wrong CID. Do you know if it's possible to change the CID in a nbh file so that I can use it for Orange UK (ORANG001)
cheers

Unfortunatelly I do not know. But hard-spl ignore cid, so you will not have cid problems.
About NBH, you should ask Ervius in this thread (he is a rom cooker):

Bootloader not displaying connection mode -> broken?

Dear All,
I'm very new to flashing roms on Win Phone devices.
I have a HTC HD7 with SPL-5.11.2250.0 and would like to fully unlock/root my device so I can install any xap file I want.
I tried several exe files. first RUU_Schubert_HTC_EUrope..... and then with the DFT_RSPL/HSPL executables. Nothing worked so far, but I noticed that when booting up the phone with the volume-down button to get into the bootloader, this bootloader doesn't show me the connection mode anymore (serial or usb). Have I broken the bootloader somehow?
Problem is that nothing I'd like to do works. After having had the wrong RUU_Schubert....exe files I finally think I have found the right one for my system: RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_5.10.401.04_SLSPL_Signed_by_ansar
But the problem is still that the setup program cannot connect to my phone: ERROR [260] ; Connection
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong... What really makes me wonder is that the connection mode isn't displayed in bootloader anymore (previously it was always stated serial or usb, now it's just an empty white rectangle^^)
Anyone knows about that ?
Thanks alot!
Cheers, Oli
yours is SPL 5.11 , it cannot be flashed or downgraded by software methods which is why nothing u do is working
And yes i think u have also bricked yr bootloader in the process of trying different methods , most likely u choose the wrong DFT RSPL/HSPL version to flash
Using DFT HSPL/RSPL on original 4xxx and above SPL will brick it.
u need to use goldcard , y cable method to downgrade it to a version of spl that is 3xxx and below
SO now yr situation is that u have a bricked phone .
Meaning I cannot even do the goldcard trick as I do not have an sd card slot on my phone?

Yeah you can use the goldcard method. In fact you can typically repair a damaged/bricked bootloader with the goldcard method too. Luckily since only the serial/USB portion in BL mode is missing, the bootloader isn't damaged very seriously.
Use the goldcard method and flash a stock/shipped rom for your devices specific carrier. This should repair the bootloader and should also downgrade your spl and OS version as well, depending on what rom version you flash. At this point you can update through Zune to the current OS version. Then if you wanted to, you could use your goldcard to downgrade the spl and install rspl/hspl and flash a custom rom! Here's Shadows tutorial on how to downgrade spl, this will give you a background on how the process work and links to all the shipped/stock roms:

This gives a good view and idea on how to make the cable:
