I have tried a number of permutations of the OSImageTool to copy images to and from my BlueAngel and SD card. I am seeing errors like:
Trying to copy a .nbf file to an SD card:
---------------------------

C:\HTC-BlueAngel\ROMs\I-Mate_PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200_SHIP\PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200\nk.nbf: incorrect filesize(33554604), file should be exactly 32505888 bytes
error opening input file
Trying to copy form the Device memory (OS) to SD or .nbf to SD

target device is too small to hold os image
My SDIO card is 256MB. It sure seems to be large enough.
Honestly I have not found any combination that works. What are the requirements to run OSImageTool? I didn't see anything on its home page.
Is it also supposed to support writing to disk? It sounds like it only supports writing to SD and Device memory but its hard to say.
Thanks for any help.
This tool only works for the XDA (Qtek 1010). You have to try the mtty program available from the developers ftp. But don't ask me how to use it, I don't know. You can find it out on wiki.

Dear all,
I dumped the OS, Extended ROM and Radio firmware to a SD card and
flashed succesfully other devices with it. Now I would like to be able to safe the contents of this SD card to an image file to be able to use my SD card again for other purposes...
I tried w/o any success the OSImageTool from the XDA-Tools, it does
not seem to recognize the image on the card. Nevertheless, it flashes fine to another device....
Is the structure of a QTEK9090 dump completely different so it's not recognized by the OSImageTool ? Is there another tool available for
this ? Or any other way to make a complete dump of the raw SD content ?
TIA,
Willem.
Use this tool to read/write to SD card
* I don't remember from where I download this tools
you can use ntrw ( posted above ) or psdwrite.
the structure is very different from the one used by the wallaby/xda1/osimagetool.
xda2(himalaya), xda3(blueangel), jam(magician), sp3(typhoon), and probably other new models too. all use a similar format,
you can use sdtool to extract the contents of an sdcard.
Is it possible to save the dead device with fine bootloader and even booting mix of ROMS?
Details of this are written here. What exactly should I download and perform?

I have live Qtek 9090 with bootloader version 2.06 can I use it to perform backup/restore procedure with dead VPA III with 2.07 bootloader?
I searched. I really did.
Is there a registry key that would allow or prevent installation of cab files to main device storage memory? I have users in Turkey who have the local version of the Kaiser and we can install cab files on the storage card but not on main device storage memory.

i dont get your question. you said that you can install them on storage cardd and you also asked how to prevent it from installing on device.
if you are installing on storage card, then what do you need to worry about the deviced?

dude anytime you install anything and you have a storage card in the device the Kaiser will ask you where to install the item. If this prompt doesn't appear you may have issues with your storage card.
In that case, put the microSD card into a converter and format it on your pc and try again.
If i am wrong then I have no idea what you are saying...
Let me try again.
We attempt to install a program via cab file to main memory. The installation fails with a message saying the installation is unsuccessful.
We then repeat the installation only this time we choose to install to the storage card. This time the installation is successful.
Question: Is this a registry key setting, or something else.
We need to install the programs to main memory. I suppose I should also validate that the program actually installed on the storage card as I've seen some that let always install to main memory no matter what you select.
Sorry for the poor wording last time.

What program are you attempting to install?
I am going on the assumption you are running a stock rom since I have no information to go from on your previous posts. Have you tried the certificates cab?
http://www.4shared.com/file/44361714/8baeab2a/sdkcerts.html
We are attempting to install a cab file related to an Oracle app. We have no problems like this with any of our other PDAs: US, Canada, France, Germany, etc...
We are running a stock ROM. It is a Turkcell Qtek S200
We do not want to disable the certificate checking due to security issues.
So far I would guess that there is no registry key that could cause this problem.
the guy has a point, there are some cabs that will still install to the device even if you chose storage card

This seems like a obvious question , but here goes. Are you sure you have enough main memory space? Oracle isn't known for their " lite " apps.
Here might be your answer:
http://freewareppc.com/utilities/cabinstl.shtml
I used to use this app for Dell Axim x50v which doesn't ask for location to install cab like the kaiser does when you have an sd card in.

Sorry for the delay in responding as I do appreciate the responses from others.
There is plenty of memory available but it is a fair question. The Oracle app we are installing is not that large.
I am trying to install an autorun that is designed to run from an SD card (not sure if this makes a difference or not) and when I do it says its not a trusted certificate and won't run. Have already installed the sdkcert.cab file and it states it installed correctly, but still the problem persists.
The software in question is Sygic McGuider 7 52 514. It has the installer for both Symbian and Winmo. I copied all files onto the internal storage but when I try to run the autorun, it says:
The file autorun cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file.
Any thoughts?
Today I am going to look to see if I can find a different software to use for gps then. I can post the file if that would help to see what the issue is.
McGuider software only works on the SD card it came on - it is locked to it. It cannot be moved to another SD cards or internal memory - it is their way of trying to prevent piracy. As explained on their website, you can transfer it to SD or internal memory only once, but in order to do so you need to phone them with the product code.
Folks, I am trying to root my NC for the first time. I am following the instructions found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942424.
I cannot get WinImage to write to the disk. I downloaded auto-nooter-3.0.0. It is about 125 Meg when unzipped. I open Winimage just fine, and point to the .img file. When I try to do the "Restore Virtual Hard Disk Image", it asks me for a VHD file. I checked all the folders I installed, and cannot find a .vhd file anywhere.
I did point it back to the image file and it says it cannot write it because the file is in use...
I also tried the alternate windows application, Win32ImageWriter. No good. It errors out as well. Gives me an undocumented error code: error 8.
There must be something wrong with my setup, but I cannot figure out what it is. I have a brand new MicroSD card, 8GB. The card is visible in windows explorer and it shows empty...
Any help would be appreciated.
Jim
Error 8 means you have to run win32imagewriter as administrator.
Using Win Image 32
Jim,
EDIT: use whatever version of Clockwork Mod that is recommended for the purposes that you are trying accomplish. The one I listed below may not work with what ever you are doing.
I had similar issues when I started to use it, also.
The following is info from another post I made on installing a rom to the Nook. Formatting the XD card with SD Formatter 3.0, and then using version 0.1 of Win Image seemed to be the answer.
A) Download the following software to your PC/MAC for formatting your XD card. This is the best one that I have found.
SD Formatter 3.0 for SD/SDHC/SDXC:
- Format your XD card. This step is very important to correctly write the EXT4 compatible bootable SD recovery.
B) You will need “Image Writer for Windows”
- I found that the “0.1 (truckstop) release” worked the best. The newer version seemed to always have some problem.
- Paste the unzipped folder to you C:\ directory. Put the EXT4 compatible bootable SD recovery file in the same folder. This will help prevent issues. This software is originally intended for a Linux environment and thank you to the developer for making it compatible with Windows.
- Make sure that the chosen device is your XD card. It automatically selects the correct one, but you never know. Go to “my computer” in windows and check to see what Letter has been assigned.
- Choose the EXT4 compatible bootable SD recovery file from Image writer directory.
- Click the “write” button. This will take a few minutes to finish.
- Now you can copy misc files to the flash drive. It is ready to boot your Nook into Clockwork Mod Recovery.
They don't trust me yet on this site, so I cannot post links to other sites. The required links are in my original post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997764
Let me know it this helps.
SUBCAN
Solved: cannot write SD image
solved...
Thanks to both Subcan and n1bsbri for the replies. The one that put me on the right track was N1's statement that I had to run as admin. I was running as admin, but obviously I did not have write permission. I then just tried to write something to the card using dumb old windows explorer and found that the card was write protected.
I am embarrased to admit it took me hours to find a post that highlighted the fact that on some microSD adapters you had to tape (yes, good old Scotch Tape) over the switch to get it writeable. I did that, wrote the card, and the NC booted right up.
I cannot begin to tell you how many bad words it took me to figure that out...
Thanks to both of you for your replies. I am very new at this and I know I will have more questions... thanks for getting me over the hump!
Jim
Want to try different ROM on my card but don't want to lose my present cm7 image. I thought I read that you could use win32diskimager to make an image that could be put back on but I don't seem to be able to. When I mount my card to my PC and ask win32 to read I get an error 8 message.
Is their some other free software that accomplishes this?
Pu the SD in the reader, open win32imager, select a directory and a file_name for your image, e.g. myimage.img, select the driver with the SD, read. It will create the image in the location you specified.
dd if=/dev/sdc of=cm7-sth-MMDDYYYY.img

Thanks worked fine after I gave it a directory & filename. Not the most intuitive software but free and it works.

I did this on my 16GB SD card and the image is only 4GB. I suspect it's only one partition. I am still looking into it.
