I have searched through the forums with no avail. I am very excited to use the Rhapsody To Go music download service with my Siemens SX66 with WMP 10. The program will transfer the DRM WMA's to the pocket pc ram and they will play and everything is awesome. When I try to transfer to the SD card in my pocket pc the program seems to transfer everything ok, BUT, when trying to play the music on WMP10 on the pocket pc from the SD card there is an error about the license.
For some reason WMP10 is not finding the license files on the SD card and will find them when the songs are on the pocket pc itself. Does anyone know a solution to this issue? Or is the WMP10 too stupid to look for the WMDRM files on the SD card?
I tried moving the WMDRM files from the SD card to the pocket pc ram and it still will not work.
Much thanks to anyone who can help!
it probably cant be copyed
i think it problably cant be copyed or something
maybe ower god toenailed have a register twick that make mp10 saves that in the sd card
that must be before download i presume
will check it
hope never dies just me.....

All I want to do is transfer some ringtones that I made to my Tilt, from my Linux OS. Is this possible somehow ? Or do I really have to dig up my older than hell XP laptop, then install proprietary software in order to transfer files ? Thanks.

I tried SynCE ages ago, but I eventually gave up. I usually stick to the microSD card or SSH.
same here, I've tried a ton of different things, but all have failed...
I think pof has got it working on an ubuntu machine, why don't you pm him?
Discouraging, but I appreciate the honesty. I'll try and PM pof and see what he says. Otherwise, I guess it'll be all micro SD transfers. Thanks again.

I just download everything.. I put it in a folder tree structure based on the type of file (Communications, Schedule, Utility, etc) and then I access it from the phone from the web.
Sometimes also push things over bluetooth.
You could also attempt the Card Export / WM5torage solution; which lets you access the storage card as a USB Mass Storage device; and no proprietary software is needed for that route. I think I read that someone had that working in linux.

What I have done with my Ubuntu laptop is simply send the file via Bluetooth. It's a little slow, but it works like a champ!

Is the card export thing a program I download from somewhere, or a cab file that enables the micro sd card to be read as a ums device ? That sounds like a perfect solution.
Bluetooth sounds good too, but my PC isn't (I didn't install one) equip with a BT card. The Macbook Pro, on the other hand... (which I've had a ***** of a time trying to get set up with the Tilt thus far...)

Ive got a Macbook Pro. What problems have you had? Maybe I can help you out a bit? Ive had no problems so far. Bluetooth file exchange works seamlessly for smaller programs and apps. When it comes to flashing roms, just use the microsd card with a card reader and rename the .nbh to KAISIMG.nbh
If you have any questions feel free to ask me.
Also, you can get a USB Bluetooth dongle these days for all of 15USD on Ebay. I would definitely invest in one for the other computer
Sometimes I copy (.wmv) movies to the external SD card and the video player says unsupported format. But when i copy the same movie to the internal SD it plays fine. Strange. Maybe I should let the phone reformat the card but at this point there's all kinds of files on there and I find the file system confusing. I see everything using ROOT EXPLORER but even then its confusing as to what is residing in the phone or on the card. It could be a problem with the video player itself. Can anyone recommend another player to use?
I have rooted my phone, backed up with Titanium, etc. When I install the official froyo (hopefully to be released soon) will it revert the phone back to "stock" Will i have to re-root again? Is there anything else i will have to do over?
thanks
What brand sd card and where did you buy it?
File system is pretty simple. /sd is internal storage. /sd/sdcard is external.
Sent from my MB520 using XDA App

I dont really know the make. It says MICRO SD on it, 16GB, bought it off ebay, it worked fine in my previous phone I think. Looking at the card thru the file manager I see a whole bunch of directories, not sure how they got there. I don't think its the card itself, I think it has something to do with the OS or maybe the compression rate of the video or something else. I have a lower resolution .wmv movie on the card and that one plays fine....weird...but the movies that play were done a long time ago formatted for my Dash 3G. I am converting these movies off the origional DVD. I tried using another player and it did the same thing. The .wmv movies are about 1 gig and they look beautiful so putting them on the card makes sense. I'll try playing with the conversion settings and other file formats...I'll probably figure it out.
Thanks for the info on the file system.
continue looking
The videos app says that it will enable you to play H.264 and 3gp movies from your SD card but I have tried that and so far no luck. So there must be other specific conversion settings it requires to work.

Your original post says that sometimes the same vids play from internal memory but not from the card. This points to the card as the culprit - not the format of the video.
Ebay purchased cards are usually fakes or poor quality and are notorious for unpredictable results.
video never play
A couple of the older ones I have do read off the SD card, but none of my recently converted videos do. I am still play around with different conversions. I will find one that works, eventually.
now working
I have to admit you were right.....I got a message from the phone saying my SD card was corrupted..so i let the phone format it. The phone is now running much better and i can run movies off the card now with Arc Media and VPlayer. I think Vplayer is now my favorite with its on screen gesture controls and luminecense setting. Copying the big movies from my computer to the card is still a little iffy. While copying a 1 gig movie to the card for instance, the progress bar on the computer will appear to hang, but if i give it enough time then disconnect and reconnect to the computer I discover the movie actually copied to the card. Sometimes I have to reboot the phone in order to reconnect. It does better with smaller files. Maybe 2.2 will fix this issue....thanks again.;
Hello.
I am trying to copy-paste my quite extensive mp3-collection to my Galaxy S. Its about 6GB.
The problem is that I don't want to use Kies as it mucks up all my ID3-Tags...at least it did the first time I tried it.
I just put the phone in Mass Storage mode and tried to copy-paste the Mp3's to the /music folder on the external SD. When I tried to let it copy all together I disconnected the phone properly (safely remove, then disc. from the screen) and let the media scanner run...it didn't find anything. When I connected it to the PC again I saw that the /music folder was empty and the /Lost.dir folder was 6 GB. So the files probably ended up there somehow.
Afterwards I tried copying the folders with my mp3s one by one, disconnecting the phone after every one and letting it search again and again and it worked fine for the first 3 GB...after one more copy paste it lost the new folder and wiped half of the rest which were working fine by then along with it.
I also tried doubletwist and WMP, same problem there.
I'm running Froyo.
Thanks for reading. Any ideas?
When you say you have tried WMP, have you sync'ed them to the card as you would do a mp3 player? It has never failed on me in the past so not sure what else to advise.
Also you may have a corrupt SD card or a fake? Make a backup of the files you have on it at present, then format the card, replace the back'ed up files and try again. There are allot of fake cards sold on ebay and there are some programs about that give diagnostics on cards so might be worth running one to see the genuine capacity and/or to see if there is any corruption.
Yep, I tried syncing as with a normal MP3-Player. Its really weird as it does this only with music and it also does it retroactively...it has lead me to believe that theres some kind of problem with the media scanner.
The card is bought off ebay, but its original Kingston...it was sealed up and everything. I formatted it yesterday just to be sure...didn't bring up any errors...I'll take a look at those programs you mentioned though.
Thanks.
Hmm... If it's only happening with music it might be worth checking to see if there is any DRM on the music files as well. If there is any you'll need to run them through a convertor to remove this.
My music files all AAC+ moved to external SD card .
New Folder on SD card named SONGS and placed all music in that folder via USB mass storage mode .
But all my music is DRM free .

For some reason everytime I try to transfer tv shows or movies to the phone, both internal or external memory, it won't transfer and says that the windows explorer has stopped working. Every single time this happens no matter how many times i try. And it only happens for some files. Other files will transfer perfectly no matter the size of the files.
Another issue is that when I do transfer the files, even though I have used some space it will still say that the space is the same as before.
I'm on windows 7 64 bit.
Any ideas how to fix?
weird problem your having... how big in size are these tv shows ?? do you have an external sd card... if so plug that in to the pc and copy them to that, then back in the phone and move to phone memory or leave on the external card...
or you can just stream them from your pc, using built in 'allshare' app or a range of others found on the market
Each show is about 150-175 mb. The issue is that some shows will completely transfer without any problems. I've transfered 4 GB altogether at once but other shows won't do it. But then other shows will not even start transfer but immediately say that windows explorer has stopped working. I've tried transferring to both external and internal but they both give me the same problem.
This also only seems to be an issue with videos as I've never had any trouble with music.
No roots, lagfix, nothing, just stock 2.2.1
Sounds more like a problem with your computer. Try copying the shows that give you trouble to a memory stick or something to test.
I just reformatted my SD card, and now my phone can't be discovered through winamp. I seem to remember having to make a file to put on the root of the SD card for it to happen, but my searches don't work. Anyone?
bump? Nobody has any advice for me?
Well if the SD card is mounted then it will not be discover able through any app on the phone because the computer has complete control over it. And winamp automatically mounts the SD card to the pc when you connect the USB cable so you will need to go in winamp settings and disable the auto-mount setting.
Sorry my post was unclear, I'm trying to sync my phone with winamp on my pc.
Ok now sorry but I'm lost what exactly do you mean?? You want to sync your phone with the pc using winamp or your trying to sync music on your pc into winamp?
Im trying to sync music from my pc onto my phone using winamp(on my pc). I do not have winamp on the phone. It was working fine until i formatted my sd card. The H drive will show up under my computers, but winamp will not recognize an android device, like it did before.
Well according to this link all you need is the desktop app and winamp on your phone http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/wireless-music-sync-winamp-media-player-android/
