All,
I have Audiovox's rebranded Blue Angel, the Audiovox PPC6600. I called Audiovox today to inquire about the following:
1. Does Audiovox plan on providing a WM2005 upgrade? Either free or on a pay basis.
2. If not, do they know if HTC is planning on making one available regardless if Audiovox does not.
1. The answer from Audiovox is NO. They do not plan on providing an upgrade, they will be providing new devices only with WM2005. Basically they want to force you to purchase new devices.
2. They are unaware of any plans by HTC to offer such an upgrade.
So I guess its up to the other carriers to work with HTC to get a BlueAngel upgrade...
Here's hoping for a cooked ROM...

Iam ever ready prepared to pay for a wm2k5 upgrade from HTC and hope they make it avaiable asap. I felt it as a matter of moral obligations to ba customers like us.
I bought the xda, xda2, xda2s and the xda mini. I will definitely buy the universal when it is out.
If HTC follow Dell and HP examples to support their customers with wm2k5 then people like us would appreciate and follow HTC to the universal, moon, planets, stars, galaxy or to the end of the world or time with them
HTC is a shadow Taiwanese company. They will not be releasing anything directly to customers.

If anyone finds it available, I would also like to know.

i700
hi
its not been made available in the uk in the near future i have had a e-mail back from samsung and the one in america wont work in europe as its cda based but it is triband.
That is true, the one in the US is the SCH-i700, which is CDMA based, and it is triband, but not the triband you think of. It is 800-MHz Analog, 800 MHZ CDMA, and 1900 MHZ CDMA. Nothing in common
A GSM version is coming up, it is called the SGH-i700. It is identical to the CDMA version except for the radio, and for the download speed (CDMA is faster)
The issue is, with GSM handsets, they must go into retail via carriers, and that sometimes make the device unavailable in the market for many months after being released by manufacturers. But with esatblished handset ODMs, many retails take the chance on them and buy directly from manufacturers, as it is the case with Nokia and Ericsson.
Given that sasung is aslo an established ODM, I do think availabilty outside carrier's offering won't be an issue, and it won't be late either.
I am just crossing my fingers for that!
By the way, maybe you want to consider the following devices too:
P700 by Etencorp: http://www.etencorp.com
ET180 from Legend Computers: http://www.legend.com.cn

Well, I'm going to guess that it's because the phone you have is CDMA based, not GSM (you have a Harrier, not quite a blue angel).
More than likely, the hooks into the OS from the radio stack are very different between GSM and CDMA, and since it appears that the only ROM's anyone was able to get a hold of for WM5 were for the GSM version of the phone, no one was able to build anything for the Harrier.
IIRC, the main reason there is even a WM5 for the Blue Angel is that someone got a hold of a ROM dump from a development Blue Angel running WM5.
Your MDA II (Himalaya) is GSM. Most of the rest of the world uses GSM, so those ROM's are the most common.
That's my theory.
You can upgrade your device with WM5 only if you have rom specific created for it, but as far as i know there is no such rom outside microsoft labs
Hi Everyone,
I am confused!
I know that the HD7 has been seen on leaked internal document (http://www.gaj-it.com/24758/htc-hd7-makes-an-appearance-on-t-mobile-document-along-with-dell-streak/) for T-Mobile UK but if you look http://shop.o2.co.uk/mobile_phone/HTC/HD7 it says the phone is Exclusive to O2!
Any suggestions?
You might be able to get it on T-Mobile from a third party site but it is meant to be exclusive to O2.
I spoke to a T-Mobile retentions guy the other day and he said that he had seen the HD7 and that it will be coming to T-Mobile after the O2 exclusive. Further down the conversation he checked something and mentioned the Samsung WP7 phone as one that he had seen, so it made me question whether he was getting confused between Samsung and HD7 for the phone he had seen.
As a T-Mobile customer I have ordered the O2 PAYG version and will unlock it, putting my sim-only contract in it.
A lady from T-Mobile shop has told me it will come to them but doesn't know when. Myself, don't think will wait long and might just get one from O2 and unlock it
Hello,
Just wondering if anyone know if any UK providers (o2 ideally as that's who I have my OP3 with) will be stocking the OP5 from launch on contract? Not due for an upgrade but would happily cover the £300 left on my device plan to pick up the OP5.
o2 won't confirm anything but hoping there could be an inside-man (or woman) with some knowledge.
Thanks
No doubt o2 will stock it again since no one else has picked up the 3T

I work for O2 as one of their instore technicians also have a Oneplus3, got it via oneplus.net before o2 announced the partnership and there is no news yet about anything related to Oneplus 5 probably due to the phone not being announced yet. Remember companies sign non disclosure agreements so it isn't exactly encouraged to talk about things not even announced to exist yet.
Cheers for the replies.
I spoke to LiveChat again today just to ask a question regarding pre-ordering the device once its announced (So I pay off the device plan and get the new OP5) and the reply I was given basically said when the device is announced on the site there will be instructions on how existing customers can pre-book the upcoming device.
From that it sounds like O2 are taking on the OP5 from launch!
