having big problem with bluetooth - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

beware newbie detected >>> so
i keep having problems with bluetooth on my spv m2000 actualy with 1.31 original rom. an error message appears from time to time and says:"the bluetooth radio failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory aviable. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the bluetooth radio". when i bought this unit it had same problem same stuois message. i thought that if i put original rom 1.31 i can solve it. but as you see same problem. what shall i do ?

Unfortunately I think you are out of luck.. this appears to be a common and unsolved problem. Check out the wiki sire for the blue angel rom upgrades for some possible worl arounds. however none have worked for me. We all need a new bt stack for these devices...

so what the reall problem is ?
so what the reall problem is ? bad unit or ban software ?

half the problem solved ?????
i managed to get rid of the error "bluetooth radio failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory ". i deactivated all bluetooth services to gain more memory except HANDS-FREE service. so bluetooth is now activated
Now spv 2000 is not detecting the headset, a plantronics 2500 ( works fine with hp6340)
what to do now?

My thoughts are that its primarrily a software integration issue. Pehaps some conflicts with files in main and/or extended ROM...
Interesting idea to deactivate the services... how did you do that?
Regards
chris

Bluetooth patch from club-imate!!!!! finally is here!!!!!

Hi to all!!!!!
finally patch are available!!!
I haven't yet tried, but tomorrow i will post my impression!
Ciao, ilVanni.
argh!!!
the patch was removed from website!!!! The support told me that are only a website test...
... it's back....
same file to download.
Specification of fix:
"i-mate™ is aware of the problems being experienced with the i-mate™ PDA2k Bluetooth. We are delivering a compete fix in two stages. The first patch increases the scan time of the i-mate™ PDA2k when searching for other nearby Bluetooth devices, thus improving other devices detectability. It should be used by customers regularly bonding with other distant devices. If the required devices are not identified after this extended period, pressing the scan again button will repeat the search. The second part of the fix will be released shortly and will improve the signal quality when using audio headsets. "
Great Thanks... I'm waiting for this patch!!!! The second one, I mean....
Now all we need is the A2DP profile supported and I will really start loving my MDAIII... I just got my B-Speech headset yesterday... didn't have much time to play with it yet though... I'd really like to get these HP bluetooth headphones too...
Treo
Yahoo!
but these 2 patches doesnt address the memory error message where the bluetooth fails to turn on... or am i missing something?
It does not address the device turning itself on all the time either. It is a joke. They are not fixing the things that are really broken.
yup i think they dont know how to fix it! ahhhhhhh refund refund! how can they even release the blueangel with such a flaw, how can their engineer miss that , did they not use their own creation for more than 15 minutes, they would hav saw the error msg
May not be IMate's fault...... of course they could have probably stuck with the lousy MS BT Stack.. might be less problems.. but anyway.. Its the OS..Remember the 32 process limitation that's still there? well. there is also a limitation on driver memroy.. I found this link that might help..
http://www.pocketfms.com/2-knownissues.htm
"The Bluetooth Radio failed to turn ON due to Insufficient driver memory available. Especially in PocketPC 2003 the Bluetooth Manager has been equipped with a lot of extra options like File Transfer, Audio Gateway and so on. If you go to Bluetooth settings and disable all services except for the Bluetooth serial port, a lot more driver memory will be available. Furthermore it's best to turn the Bluetooth radio on (and sometimes to connect to the GPS, configuration depending) prior to starting PocketFMS."
Doesn't fix the problem.. but its probably the same problem across the board for a number of devices out there..
Do a Search on Google for pocketpc "driver memory" .. you'll notice we're not alone... Then check the newsgroups.. the xda IIs has the same issue : http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...%22&hl=en&lr=&client=firefox-a&sa=N&scoring=d
"disable all services except for the Bluetooth serial port, a lot more driver memory will be available"
THAT IS NOT TRUE, I tried to disable EVERYTHING and ONLY headset profile left and it still gives the error just as often. Sucks..... SUCKS...
umm.. U DON'T HAVE TO YELL AT PEOPLE.. All I was trying to do was pass along any information that might help the situation.... Also, make note that IMate is the only device to experience these issues.. HP and Ipaqs have the same issues....
I for one have not had any major problems with the bluetooth driver(knock on wood). I turn it on and off a lot and only rarely do I see the driver memory issue. However, I do see it more often when I turn on/off the WLAN driver for wireless access. I also tend to use GPRS a lot and have not had issues with the bluetooth with GPRS. I also use a bluetooth GPS unit... I have it bonded to an Sony Bluetooth HB-35 headset as well.
lol sorry, it wasnt yelling, i was actually just making main points bold... we are all suffering from this issue it's time for them to fix it.
Complaining to Carrier Devices will help a little...but the key point here is that this goes beyond them.. I think it has more to do with Microsoft and Broadcom(they bought widcomm). Microsoft and their stupid limitations on the pocketpc operating system and Broadcom committing to enhancing their widcomm drivers so as to not use heaping loads of memory..
I agree it needs to get fixed.. however, these fixes will take time and sometimes might take months to fix as you can see from all the other issues revolving around the Ipaqs...
I've got the same problems with the T-Mobile MDAIII - not enought driver memory, turns itself on, licence has expired, rebonding. These things really should have been sorted before now, considering that for the last twelve months we've all put up with similar problems on the XDAII.
This should fix the license expiry for the Imate. I received it via email from their tech support.. according to their tech support.. you can choose any of the key addresses...They sent it to me even though I never received the license expiry issue.
As for constantly turning on.. read someone on Howardforums on a possible workaround -> http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...50658&threadid=495366&perpage=15&pagenumber=2
Firebird, forgive me if this seems stupid, but what do i do with the file you posted after unziping it? Do i run it on my pda once or what....???? have no idea... THANKS.
Don't know if it works on an XDAIII.. but copy both files to the IMate PDA2k and run the executable.. then choose any address to update it.. I just chose each and every address and updated all of them..
and this will fix the license expired error msg on the pda2k ???
That is what its supposed to do. still wont' fix the driver memory issue.... I haevn't seen the license expiry issue ever since i applied the patch..

Help !~ My O2IIs Bluetooth ...........

Help !~
My O2IIs Bluetooth when I turn on it and go to susupend(standby mode?!) around 5 min ,then I resume the OsIIs again but the bluetooth will be turn off and on .....that have a big problems when I"m using the handset and have incoming call ! The OsIIs is going to resume ..... then the handset will be disconnect (because the BT was turn off automatically)~~But any problem when I do it in 5 min !! ......and I'm sure is not my handset connection problem!!
How can I Sovle it??
Thx ~~
First thing I'd do is ugrade to the latest ROM - you are still using the older one. If you still have problems after that it may be worth going from BT3500 to 3900.
If you don't know how to do either of the above have a little search around the forum. The new ROM is on the O2 site and there are numerous postings about the 3500 to 3900 upgrade all over this forum.

Don't bother. I have 3900 on my IIs and it still does the same thing.
Thanks for rakh1 and kevinnugent reply~~
In fact ,I tried to downlaod and upgrade the newest ROM form the O2 website ! but my O2IIs is not buy in UK ! so....
In the mean time ,I"m also "cooked" (crack?!.. I don't understand what difference on "cooked" and "crack",haha~) the ROM by the "XDA3nbtool",but have the error message on installation ,that show "Radio image file checksum Error ",when I replace the original radio image, that will show the other image file checksum error.....
And I contact the O2 Custom Center in HK ,but they ask me to contact the Singapore customer service ,and said "they just have a repair service only!they haven't technical support ! "
OMG!! haha...a sick joke !!
Finally, the Singapore Custom Center still haven't the solution about this problem !... they just send the "bluetooth BT3500 update patch " for me to try (haha!!...) it can solve this problem or not !!
I have the same problem about BT disconnection
I posted an item about the same problem two days ago...
And the "official" technical support did the same to me: send me the 3500 BT Stack (and I found it in the web and installed two weeks before. Great technical support!).
In fact it's frustrating: I need a car kit that works well for my job, but impossible with Qtek. So, if I want to have a hands free car kit...I must buy another phone?.
Incredible for an expensive machine like Qtek 9090.
I have'nt tryed for the sort of multiple patchs of 3900, but I have no faith in it.
I you find a solution, please let me know.
Good luck!.

Hey ~I have the solution now?!~and I tried it a whole day~any problem!
Firstly You must stop the "Auto Power Off" Function on the O2IIs,then go to:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14621
to download the "screenlock" (software) and install it ,after the installation ,you will not have the icon on the “Program file “ (haha…may be the software bug),than go to “file exploroe” ->”My Device”->”Program files”->”screenLock”->”screenlock.exe”,When you run it the first time it will be create the icon on “program file”,If you want to leave it, press the button 1 and 4 (Calendar and Message button on the IIs) simultaneously! Now !the Bluetooth will be connected every time ~
but I still hoped the O2IIs announce the newest rom update for the Asia user soon……..
By the way, when updated the BT3500 ,the “auto resume” problem will be solve or not ??because I’m updated to BT 3900 still no change…..
Thx
Cangratulations Alextly!
ScreenLock works fine, and although this is like killing flyes with a bazooka, it's the only solution that I know about it, and this convert this solution in the better one.
The only question I've got now it's about power consumption. This program Locks (turns down) the screen but, if I understood well, with the screen locked the CPU is sitill gorking "underground", so the battery life can be reduced (I must do some proves).
As far as I know, the BT3500 doesn't solve the problem (I installed and it's the same). I ignore if the 3900 it does, but I'm afraid that it will not. I have not installed because the 3900 I've fount it's some sort of different patches that and they doesn't seem to be very reliable. So I prefer to wait for official Patche. And as says "kevinnugent" seems not to work.
Let's keep the faith for official technical service (my faith it's going down for minutes).
Thanks for you're finding and congratulations. I would never find this one.
j.m.
ScrrenLock
ScreenLock it's not as fantastic as I though: it shuts down the PDA automatically when you are in no-battery mode (for exemple when you're using TOMTOM), and increase battery consumption dramatically.
j.m.
Interesting... I don't seem to have the same symptoms with my SX66 paired with my SE HBH-300 and HCB-30 (car kit). When the SX66 goes into standby, the BT seems to stay connected. If it does disconect with either handsfree, I just press the call pick-up on the handsfree and it re-establishes the BT connection within 2-3 seconds.
I'm using 3900.
Ken
SX66
In fact I think the connection must not be disconnected. And with my Qtek if you have good luck and re-establish the in some way, maybe you will hear nothing...
My car kit it's Drive Blue from Parrot.

Strange BT problem help

I have a very strange problem and i would like to know if anyone has the same or its just me.
Firt of all i have Qtek 9090 ROM:1.22.00wwe,radio:1.08.00,Extended Rom:1.22.167WWE.
When i try to start bt i get an error message saying that"bt failed to start due to limited memory for the driver. You have to restart your device in order to begin using bt"
I restart the device and everything ok.But if i turn on wifi open a few progs then turn power off(to ppc) when i turn ppc on i get the same message.
NOTE:No programmes installed.Clean device. The problem was the same even before upgrating radio version to 1.08.00.I have bt version 1.0.0 build 3500
but no change to the problem even with build 3900. :x
I have the same problem - you'll get used to it
PEACE AND B WILD
Hi,
I also have the same problem, I am not sure if it is 108 or 3900.
Simple
At least im not the only one.I am starting to think that it's a hardware problem .But what really makes me mad is that i payed 950euros to have this problem  My previous S100 worked like a charm

I can't hear incoming calls...

I'm having a problem when someone calls, I can't hear them but they can hear me. Once I soft reset, everything's peachy. Just today I used my phone (pda2k with i-mate 1.40 rom) several times. Everything was fine. I turned the flight mode a couple times today. Then, I turned on flight mode, let the phone sit for a while and had an incoming call...I couldn't hear them. I told them to call back in 5 minutes. I tried calling another number but couldn't hear anything, did a reset and everything was fine.
This has happened before and after the 1.40 upgrade. Anyone have any reason why?? I've tried turning the flight mode off and back on, but that didn't help either.
Thanks,
Tom
This is an known issue in 1.40 ROMs, and currently there is no solution.
Dont blame ROM 1.40 because you also face this problem when using ROM 1.31
No solution so far but a trick's available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/posting.php?mode=reply&t=22239
Solution
Delete Run_BTTrayCE_10.lnk from your Windows\Startup folder and soft reset. Now you wont have the BT icon on the tray bar, but you wont have the no sound problem. If you still need bluetooth you can start it from the Windows directory as BTTrayCE.lnk.
Have fun.
I don't know if this can help to solve the problem but I wanted to mention that I never had this problems when I was using vodafone, but after I changed the sim card this probleme occured
Solution
The Solution is TURN ON your BLUETOOTH and then TURN OFF your bluetooth.

Unfortunately for me this actually triggers the no sound issue! My device is fine until the first time I use bluetooth then I can almost 100% guarantee that the next call will be silent.
As stated before with the 1.40.00 rom, this issue is certainly linked to the Bluetooth driver, perhaps on use it is switching audio to their driver for headset use and not restoring it?
Are you using sbp Plus, because this application has issue with bluetooth. Try to close all application not to minimize them when you are done with it. Use PocketNav or Magic Button for that.

Can you tell me if the BT has to be started like you described when you use Tom Tom? Normaly Tom Tom starts the BT automaticaly when it starts. Thanxx
hi
I get this problem a lot when I've had the phone on silent or vibrate and then change it back. I think it mainly happens when I receive a call after this rather than make an outgoing one but after the 1st call even outgoing ones have no sound.
It sounds daft but after a couple of months where I reset whenever it happened I just by chance hit the volume slider & sure enough the in call volume was turned right down. It's worth checking as it's an easy fix for me!!
Kill process
The solution for the problem could be to not run the BT driver. Anyway it's possible to delete from startup the dirver and to run when it need (for GPS or headset...).. But is there a way to kill the BT process without reset the machine (that without BT in the startup does't run the driver) whit a simple "TAP" ?
Thanx... M.
I hope I put my Reply on the right forum, but however...
I recently bought a QTEK9090 via Ebay and also I have the "I can't hear incoming calls..." problem.
Radio 1.06.02 and ROM 1.22.ooWWE. I understand from the postings in this forum that only a few (approx 10 to 15) have a problem and the rest of the world does NOT.
Strange but due to this I am really thinking to replace it by a P910I, as a phone should be able to pick-up calls. I haven't decided because the 9090 is a great machine.
Doesn't anybody have a clue, even not the manufacturer ??
Hi,
i had the same problem. Than i followed the advice above from someone deleting the autostart BT and using the btray.lnk instead. Absolutely fine since then.
greetings
Using the XDA IIs.
Until we get a proper fix, I am using the manual Run_BTTray method to turn on the BT if I need to use my headset.
So what I do is, (a) normally, no BT tray, (b) to use my BT headset, use Run_BTTray to turn on BT tray, (c) use ATBluetooth to actually turn on and off the BT radio, and finally (d) soft-reset to remove the BT Tray when I'm done.
I know it sounds complicated, but is ok after I assign the commands to my buttons (XDA IIs, plenty of buttons!).
What about the pda2k UniDirectional Patch.sa.cab available on the clubimate site.
I had this problem with ROM 1.40 as well as with the previous ROM. I have installed this patch. I have not had this unidirectional problem since then but I am not sure if this will work in the longer term as I have installed the upgraded ROM and the patch only a few days from now.
Love to hear comments of other members who have tried this patch.
Kind Regards

The patch works.... atleast I didnt get the no voice problem after the patch (touch wood  )
So, I've been searching, and this may be covered, but I seem to have the problem in REVERSE. I can hear the other party when using my BT headset, but they can't hear me! On one call, it'll work, then on another, it won't, and then it'll stop working. I have ROM v.1.40.00 and Radio 1.13.00 I don't know what I could do to fix this problem...
Any suggestion would be appreciated...Although I'm not keen about removing the BT tray from the startup, only to soft reset just to remove it...
Thanks,
Q
does this problem remains in the WM5 ?
I wouldn't know...I'm still on WM2003SE....BTW, I have a Siemens SX66.... Anyone? Please?

Diamond sound problem SOLVED!!

Hi all!
This seems to be an issue shared among a big group of diamond owners. But unfortunately no solution out there. So as a last attempt, I create this thread in hope of a solution.
The problem:
Its seems that for no reason at all, the sound all together stops working on the Diamond after it has been in standby mode for a while. if I get a call, I can not hear the other person, and if I call back the same thing. No ring signal sounds either when I get a call, just flashing button. I noticed however that if I started to play a music file, after 5 seconds into the playing the sound would come back again.
Is there a solution to this problem? I have found other posts about this problem but no solution!
**********UPDATED 2008-12-20******************

same problem here, still searching the forums for a solution
I already changed ROM, Radio and the problem persists
One thing i noticed is after the sound is back again the phone lost his signal (like when you turn off and then on again the phone setting)
For a moment i thought it was the g sensor cause the sound come back suddenly when i move the phone.....happened a couple of times.
Ill keep searching for a solution by my own or in the internet

Thanks for your suggestion but I had already done that a couple of times, also I had changed SPL versions, Radio and tried to find a combination of these with the ROMs that hopefully dont get me this error/issue. Still looking for a solution
Another thing I did: I tested with different SIM cards, from different providers, but didnt work

Also did I - without success.
I don't even have a clue what causes the failure. Sometimes my Diamond works the whole day, somtimes only a couple of minutes.
Tried a lot of combinations with the settings - means: BT on/off, WiFi on/off, and so on - nothings helped
My warranty is likelihood lapsed, cause of playing with HardSPL and different ROMs. So replacing the mobile isn't possible any more (I guess).
My Diamond worked in the beginning perfectly, until ... hmmm good question, it must have been an update or somthing like that, which causes the malfunction.
@mjckt: Did you have the problem from the first day on?
Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro - CE OS 5.2.19965 (Build 19965.1.2.3)
ROM 1.93.407.1 GER (ROM-Date: 07/10/08)
Phone 1.08.25.08
Hi,
my diamond had the same problem. You must send your diamond to repair. My device had a hardware failure and your, too.
DT
I tried to update the radio to several different versions, but the problem is still there. I can not use my warranty either because the phone has been unlocked etc. But I still doubt that the problem is hardware related, since the phone worked just fine for a short while before the problems came.
Has anyone tried with new sound drivers? If so where did you get the drivers and how did it work?
I am going to try some new sound drivers, will post the results soon

No, never installed any VoIP-Software.

For sure: no. I am reaching very rearly a battery level below 50% but have very often the problem (even with a fully charged battery)
I tried to roll anything back to original state (german O2) and did not install any other software - the problem still persists. So I guess, it has nothing to do with any additionally installed software.
Can anyone confirm this?

yes i have same problem...
and when i try open sound option and try change music files in the notification system says "this file is brocken or damaged...bla bla" it is joke? I only use systems music files
My opinions:
Systems stops read flash...
Systems music drivers stops...
System losts particions of the flash...
question:
Do you have Nokia Music files AAC or MP3?
Do you have file dialog extencions?
Do you have g-alarm program?
What programs instaled to yours diamond, make list...?
This bug desapear after soft reset, but touday i have has this
just had it happen to me last night. had to hard reset i hope it's not a sign of a future hardware failure
