Hi there everyone
I was speaking with a friend, and he was telling me to install the XDA2s ROM, on my i-Mate PDA2K. The reason for my interest, is that my Bluetooth headset, works for a little while, then it sort of drops out.
Also, I have had problems with stability, would it be worth upgrading the PDA2K Firmware to the XDA IIs firmware, and how would I go about doing it.
or is it just better to upgrade to the 1.13 Radio ROM Version.
Please help me if you can, thanx
Neil Spenta
Hi Neil
The ROMs are available on the wiki site here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgrade
You will need to use the MA_Update utility to get around your device being from a different operator (I-mate) than the ROM you want to load (o2)
I have the 1.40 / 176 ROM on my xdaIIs and have the exact same issues as you with BT (all else is pretty good) and have been searching for a ROM that has better BT reliability s.o I can use my BT headset and GPS set up
I have been corresponding with a user that is using the O2 Asia 1.40 / 9xx ROM on their xdaIIs. They report good bluetooth relaibility with the only issue being some static when the device is not in a direct line of site with the BT headset. They in the other hand have experienecd some GPRS dissconnection problems when using this ROM in conjunction with the 1.13 Radio stack....
We believe that the best all around combo of functionality and stability right now is possibly the O2 Asia 1.40 /9xx with the 1.12 Radio. They will be running some tests this weekend to confirm. I'll post here with the findings
Regards
Chris

HI All,
I've had my O2 XDA iis now for about 2 months and i'm having a few problems with the Bluetooth on the device.
I'm currently running 1.12.62.wwe
and version 1.0.0 Build 1900 of Bt-PPC/PE
Does anyone know if there is software upgrade to fix the Bluetooth connectivity problems, and when bluetooth is activited it kees turning my screen on and scanning.
Any help would be appreciated.
Software Ugrade
By the way does anyone know if O2 Uk have a site where updates can get downloaded or if there is a telephone number i can contact to receive software udates - regular support don't seem to be very helpful.
Cheers
XDA2s BT Connectivity issues (Launch build) how to upgrade
Like another post today, I too have bluetooth connectivity issues with initial build rom 1.12.62.wwe extROM 1.12.178 WWE Radio 1.02.00
I can only get headset profile to connect 1st time after HARD reboot, NMEA GPS bluetooth is not a problem (Both from Parrot CK3300 car kit)
Ideally I would also like to pipe the XDA audio from SATNAV app (tomtom) to the CK3300 over the car speakers too (Like headset profile) ???
Anybody able to point me in the right direction please?
I see other posts giving BT updates, which I have downloaded, but am unsure how to apply these... Is there a "noddy" guide to upgrading the XDA2s (This example is unlocked running on T-Mobile ond Orange without GPRS access), and how do I get later ROM versions etc.
Thanks, BID

Do a search for O2 Asia XDAIIs Bluetooth patch - there's one there that might help you.
As far as O2 support goes - www.02.co.uk/xda - however there is NOTHING in the way of updated files for the XDA IIs, there are some for the XDA II but please be aware that these are NOT compatible.
See the thread in the Blue Angel forum regarding Finally getting a response from O2.
HTH
user manual in pdf and that it !!! now 2008
Thinking of upgrading my O2 XDA IIs Asia unit to the Imate PDA2k 1.40 ROM, have been reading a lot of the 'no sound issue' when answering/making calls (and experienced the same with another 1.40 version), does the PDA2k upgrade suffer the same? If so this seems to be a major issue why would they release the upgrade with this problem?
Thank you
I personally have not had any problems whatsoever.
Even I did not have any problems...except that I was not able to connect to GPRS, but a single hard reset solved the prob.I am using HBH 65 with 2k and no sleeping...waking problems, even after installing the BT patch earlier released by imate.
Battery is improved....everything is good...very very stable OS now....
Hello guys.
Here is my situation.
Innitially, my xdaiis was running rom 1.42 www and radio rom 1.13 but i was having problems with small mic volume which makes it very hard for the other party to hear me during a telephone conversation.
Then i decided to upgrade to radio rom version 1.15 and the problem did not go away, infact, it seems to create a new one. The sound for the first second would be fine, then it gets to a nearly muted level. More frustrating I would say.
Can i downgrade my radio rom to version 1.12 (this is what the xda was shipped with) and I hope this will work. Having a ppc phone that does not function well as a phone is quite frustrating.
So please comment and point me to the right direction.
Thankyou.
Hi guy
You should flash the 2003's ROM after you updatong the RADIO,then the wrongs maybe disappear
Have a try,Good luck
Apologies but I could not make sense of what you've posted. Would you mind rephrasing? I now am forced to use the included headset, sound is fine. This then makes me wonder: is it a software or hardware problem.
Hello everyone!
I wanted to let everyone know that I definately appreciate the effort put forth to get Blue Angels to run W2K5.
Ivan 4.0 thus far had the best results for my Siemens SX66 w/ out camera. I was running Ivan with Radio 1.15.
I have kept up with Mamaich's updates and decided to downgrade my radio back to 1.12 to see if there would be any sounds improvements. I noticed right away that the speed of the device improved dramatically especially regarding actual rings from when callers call me. When callers call me, it doesn't just sit there and show me and ring on the third ring but it really does ring on the first time the call routes through. NO DELAY!
Also, when placing calls and answering calls, i noticed a dramatic upgrade in speed.
I wanted to also thank everyone involved in making a base rom.
I had a request to really find out how to integrate my software into the rom directly thus improving the available space on my phone. Extended rom is showing but I didn't know how to use it.
I also installed items into the SD card without any problems but if there is a link of something i can read to learn how to preinstall certain cab files and software, i would appreciate it.
Thanks everyone! Let me know if other radio editions improve call handling!
Hi there!
For the last few days, I keep on saying the same thing: radio version 1.15 has problems with WM5. See post http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=48215&start=75 so I have downgraded to radio version 1.13. Have you tried radio version 1.13 vs 1.12? I haven't seen any difference between 1.12 and 1.13 (using European networks). I'd like to have your report if possible. Thank you.
well ive been using radio 1.13 since ever..never upgraded..my OS , details are in my signature...but yes ive got the call delay..around 2-3 seconds..
otherwise calling too is decent..not too fast as baeshin has said..maybe i will try downgrading to 1.12 and see the difference
i also use sx66, can you tell me where i could get 1.12 radio rom? thx!
I guess I would like this older Radio too... could not hurt to much to try it out.
the files should be on the ftp. i tried to downgrade to 1.13 but i don't think it was meant for siemens sx66. i recall reading somewhere that it was for another device.
1.12 radio rom can be found in 1.40 WM2003SE ROM
At the moment I hate my 1 week old QTEK 9090.
To enable GPRS I normally have to reboot.
Sometimes to get Wifi and BT working I have to reboot.
GPRS drops out during a phone call
Sometimes I have to reboot when there is no sound at all on the device. Just no sound at all.
I have had it a week. Probably had to reboot it at least 3 times a day and the reboot is LONG!
Wow such a good concept let down by a HUGE number of bugs
What version rom and radio does your 9090 use? (start menu>settings>device information)
check here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Upgrades
for latest official rom release by your phones manufacturer. Possibly an upgrade is beneficial! Either that, or your phone may have hardware issues. Check your service provider for repair/rma services.
Good luck!
Thanks for that.
I will check. One issue I have a work around for....
I only lose sound when I close down Windows Media Player before I stop the music. Stop it first and then close and all is fine. That is a start.
I wish the ROM upgrades were simpler like on my Treo 650.....upgrade does a backup, flashes the new ROM and then brings back the data....
I found my device and rom on that link ta. So does that mean I have the latets for my device....
This is exactly my 9090:
Qtek WWE OP ID 1.40.00 1.40.147 1.12.00
Protocol version 1337.42
So I must have the latest ROM for my device...ripper.
Rom
Yeah you have the latest rom. when i 1st got my qtek i had some strange issues as well. what i ended up doing was to install a different rom (downgrade) and then install back to my rom (latest version). Hey presto my pda was running much smother.
Take your time to read all the info on the forum and most of all read wiki!! It takes some time to get used to wm2003se if your switching from palm. Have fun!!!
Thanks.
I have used many PPC devices as well. Last one was AXIM X50V. Before that was IPAQ 2210, IPAQ 1930.......
From the 2210 onwards everything was nice and stable.
Just this device.....!!
If I could get it to reliably start up GPRS and wireless every time I would be fine. BT is not such an issue.
Now I have solved my sound problem that is excellent.
good bye wm2003se
I will be really honest with you!!! when i was using my pda with wm2003se i had to soft reset my device 5-6 times a day....wifi being the biggest problem. needles to say it was critical to have a good backup software (Sprite). after being really frustrated i found this site....(thanks god)....know i use wm5 and guess what after 8 weeks i have not had to soft reset my device once. wm5 at the moment is not perfect but for me its stable and quick enough.
Cool....so moving my QTEK 9090 to WM5 what should I look out for? What are the issues? Will I get anything else? Lose anything?
Stability is 100% key for, but in terms of features, WM2003SE has everything i need. It just doesn't work all of the time.
What WM5 ROM do you recommend?
Oops I see Ivan....got a link?
So what is the best procedure to do the backup?
Can I easily go back to the original ROM?
Ivan 4.3
it really depends how you use your pda and what kind of functionality you want. for me speed and stability are essential. i dont use blue tooth to much just to transfer data...(no headset). as all users of wm5 will tell you there are pros and cons with each wm5 rom. my advice is to read the forums and pick a version that best suits your needs. in any case you will have to do some hacks to really bring the best out of your device on wm5. see my sig for what i have installed.
forgot to answer your question. to downgrade your device is much easier than to upgrade. before you go down this road please READ wiki carefully!!!
