tried to upgrade my XDA to 2003 microsoft, i reset the phone, and now its just dead,i can't even boot to bootloader, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you used the reset hole under the headphone socket. Push once then push once more after 60 seconds.?
yes tried that, follow your instructions and all that happened was the internal lights came on,and thats it,even tried the bootloader again and still nothing,i can't even use active sync to flast the rom again.please help its doing my head in now.
dead xda
Do you mean an XDA 2? Because I've just done the same thing. And am (or have been)tearing my hair out too.
Then having got it into boot loader mode (which is tricky) and then cradled it I tried getting active sync 4 to find it but it couldn't. In despair I did bootload mode again and cradled it (grey screen says 'USB' now) and ran (and I can't encourage you to do this of course since it is illegal probably) a beta of mobile 2005. Now this found the mobile! And it's ...at 98% installed.

dead xda
and no (karma comes home) it doesn't work: get a message 'device authentification failure consult the product maufacurer..."
Damn
its an XAD 1 AND CAN'T EVEN GET THE BOOTLOADER UP ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HELP
PLAN B
O.K
(it's worth saying this all started because my pc crashed during an upgrade to the legitimate 2003 final rom for XDA 11. )
I couldn't get this installation to restart (I think because I expected active sync to say, 'yes, found the device' before re-installing - and it doesn't seem to need to do this. Or maybe not. Perhaps I'd just stuffed up getting it n boot loader mode? Who knows. Anyhow. Having another go at putting the legit rom upgrade on now. Fingers crossed & much praying.
dead?
I suspect that for you (and possibly for me also - the jury is still out on my machine) we may need to say hello to our local phone shop in the morning. But that's not the end of the world - tho' it'll probably cost a few £.

Note to self: have a look at other massively helpful forums on this site before doing dumb stuff! There are smart and well-informed people who have all the answers. (notably RAGO in the "stuck in o2 Splash screen forum")
Yippee
(I send apologies for posting all this in what I now realise is totally the wrong forum. (Newbie!)
Adios!
I had just the same problems,
I removed the battery & Sim
I held in the power button and reset button at the same time
but kept them both pressed for 1 min!
I Put the battery & sim back and it all seemed to reset.
Fluke?
not to sure yet but i had no problems
after.

ok my xda locks up (nothing new there!) soft rest and all i get is a white screen! try again and the same thing happens. So i decide to do a hard reset. This appears to be working until it's loading applications and settings (O2) when it hits a .per file (i think) and tells me i need to find the source .cab file.
the 2 choices i then have are ok or cancel, niether work the bloody thing is locked up again! so i soft rest it and it's back but with no O2 settings. I try and run a back up from my pc and it all works apart from about 15 files that it cannot reinstall (mainly to do with contacts). I then sync my contact list as that is missing and all looks good! 2 days configuring it back to my liking and all looks good once again!
This morning no alarm to wake me up (bugger im now half hour late for work! lol) the xda had been on charge all night and it appears to be dead! All i can see is the O2 logo like you get at start up but with no back light. the unit does not respond to anything. I've tried taking the battery out, soft and hard reset all with no response! I try and put it back on charge and all i get is the red light come on for 2 mins then go off again! can't turn it on while on charge!
Please help as phoning O2 is really like banging our head against a brick wall!
thanks guys
i'm not to sure but i would say you have two options either download the rom from the o2 website or download the rom Modified_XDA_IIi_Upgrade_V1.11.162_Radio_1.04.rar i installed it yesterday and i haven't had any problems hope this helps
ty but if i cant turn the phone on or connect it to the pc how can i do that????
i might give O2 a call anyway and see what they say. they might offer me a new one which is always good!
o2 could offer you a new one but i read somewhere on this site that the xda IIi has been discontinued so they might upgrade to the xda exec
When I first got my 2i, I had it for a week and then out of the blue it decided to do this after a soft reset one day - got stuck at the O2 splash screen, no backlight, frozen forever. Had to take the battery out to turn it off.
Took it into the shop, the store manager said "yeah, we've seen this happen more than once", and just went into the storeroom and got a me a brand new one.
This did happen the day after I'd run the simunlock tool found on this forum, which worked successfully (I tried my Virgin mobile SIM in it and it worked first time, but I then took it back out and put my O2 SIM back in)... I'm not sure if it was just coincidence or what, but I'm not feeling too eager to run simunlock on my Alpine again until I sell it
thanks guys i thought it might be fried!
called last night but got cut off and then was after 7 so couldn't speak to anyone!
will try again and see what they say!
when i put it on charge it charges for a few mins then turns onto splash screen for a few mins then turns off and charges again and so on in a loop! really quite annoying! lol
Another thing to try is to put the device into bootloader mode and force a firmware upgrade. It can be connected to the PC but it will no longer use Activesync so the upgrade will work fine.
Once this is done it will be using more up to date firmware if you download the ROM from this sites FTP and should work better in general.
well carphone craphouse couldnt do anything with it so has had to go back to O2 went on the 10th dec and still no word
Three questions

i have tried every thing in the worlddddddd

Problems, problems, problems....
Firstly, Windows Vista does have ActiveSync... it's just 'under the skin' of Windows Mobile Device Centre.
If, as you say "It just stopped working" and you haven't done anything, the obvious answer is to get it replaced or repaired under warranty. The Diamond only came out last May, so none of our devices are out of the one year warranty period.
What's more likely is that you've tried to flash a ROM to your device without reading and understanding how to go about it. Either way, you need to search the 'Diamond ROM development' forum... you will definitely find an answer there.
Just one more thing, without trying to give you a lecture (which I often end up doing without intension ), you'll get a better response from the forum users if you keep your posts short and 'to the point'. Asking a load of questions all at the same time just puts people off wanting to help... very time consuming is this!
I appologise for the rant, I really am trying to help
Hi community,
it's been a long time ago since I updated my XDA-Diamond. Everything worked fine, the update suceeded and the Original HTC-Logo was displayed at boot. Then I made a big mistake: I tried to update the Radio and there it happenen:
I connected the XDA to my PC. I started the Radio-Update-Program on the PC. It told me, that it needs an acknowledgement from the XDA.
Then, I acknowledged the message on my xda...but at the same time, the software on the PC displayed a "Timeout" (within 1 or 2 seconds...not even enough time to acknowledge if you had you finger on the XDA-key the whole time). I recognized the PC-message just after acknowledging.
After that, the display fade out showing some cryptic symbols. I was in fear that I killed the XDA.
But after removing the battery it came back...fist I rhought everything would be alright. But I was wrong. After retrying the update process, the XDA just crashed by connecting the USB-Port. Even after resetting it.
Then I tried to restor the original firmware...the same here...the xda crashed after connecting to the PC and starting the update-tool.
I lived with that a long time (4 months or so) but meanwhile, the XDA crashes even just by connecting the powerplug...not right by time...but after some hours. Then the screen freazes or it resets and show the Pin-input-page.
Why did the software timeout within some seconds? This is the question that bothers me. And how can I restore what the XDA seemed to have erased after losing the connection?
Thanks for helping

Really no one who had this problem before?
How can I fix it? I want to sell the phone because I can't upgrade it anymore. As I said, it is fully functional, but everytime I try to flash it again, the screen shows "White Noise" and the phone hangs.
Please, you guys programmed the upgrade and the tool...what happened here and why has there there a timeout after some seconds?
Thanks in advance
It has been over half a year now and no one ansered my thread. The phone still crashes and I want to get rid of it.
So, please. Some of you created the upgrade tool that crashed my phone...and no one can give me a hint how to recover it? This cannot be.
There must be a way to restore the original Software.
Kind regards
Hellmachine
I got my HD7 this morning but I have a couple of issues...
Main one being it keeps crashing! Software keeps kicking me back to the start menu! I tried uninstalling the software that crashes and master resetting the phone but it still does it.
I am gonna try and get it swapped over shortly (assuming any stock remaining tonight!) but if I can't is there anything I can do to restore the software?
I did download the O2 UK Ruu software but it won't see the HD7 and asks for it to be connected by active sync which windows phone 7 doesn't use! (as far as I know).
(I also have some dead pixels on the screen in case anyone is wondering).

it is a long shot, but if you know how to put the phone in bootloader mode ( I don't know it for a hd7 ) and than plug in the usb cable , maybe you can flash it than (the same as you can do with a wm 6.* phone ) .
My HD7 keeps turning itself off and back on automatically. Haven't done any sort of reset yet as I only got it from the O2 store this afternoon. I just feel it vibrate on my desk and then I see it restarting (I'm doing work on my laptop and I catch it out of the corner of my eye, so I'm not exactly doing anything on it!).
Hopefully it'll stop...
Unlucky man with the dead pixels on the screen. I guess you can rely on O2's 14 day return period if you're not happy with the phone supplied and they won't issue you with an exchange!

Hi there,
I fear I hard bricked my G1 (after long years of good service as gps device thanks to a 2600mAh battery).
Since it was quite slow on CM7, I downgraded it to CM6.1. But this would'nt boot. (boot loop)
So I did a bit of reading and decided to downgrade the radio too. I downloaded a flashable zip and flashed it the usual way in the CWM recovery - which didn't finish (after a few minutes), so I removed the battery.
Since then my G1 wont start any more. On top of that, it want event charge. If I try to charge it the status led wont event light up. (I already tried it with two different batteries, both yield the same results.)
Funny thing though: If I don't charge it and let it sit for a few hours, the status LED very shortly lights up when pressing the power button. (But other than this nothing happens and if I press the power button again shortly after the LED stays dead.)
So ... I fear the problem is hardware and not software related.
Does anybody have an idea what could be broken (software or hardware) and if it's software based if there's a way to revive my phone?
(Before anybody asks ... yes, I have newer android phones, but I really live my G1 for nostalgic value so if there a way to get it running again I definitely would try.)
thx a lot,
Bapf
Sounds like you need JTAG, and don't take this the wrong way, but flashing firmware isn't the usual way, its the way you brick your phone. If possible always use fast boot to flash firmware or you are asking for a brick.
You can buy the JTAG equipment yourself and the software is free. Or you can see if you can find someone locally to do it. Unless you have a particular sentimental value to this phone it maybe cheaper to buy a new one.... Sorry for bad news

Bricked G1 - Try Again w/ SIM Card IN!
I had the exact symptoms mentioned in this post - tried nearly everything until I finally put back in the SIM card (even through I don't have T-Mobile anymore) - it booted again and registers the AC adapter and/or USB cable. Hope this helps some who are struggling at this level as I did!!

I don't know if this will work,as I've never encountered a situation such as this, but have you tried bootloader(power button+camera button)?
If you can get it into bootloader, then I have the original rc29 DREAIMG.NBH file(plus, rc29 is the best place to start if you want to root it or install a custom rom).If you get it working and just want stock 1.6, i have those updates as well.
(all said out of hope, I have a g1 and I love it,I'm really glad that someone else shares my enthusiasm!!)
If bootloader works, give me your email and i'll send you the files, good luck!:fingers-crossed:
Nope. It won't even start the bootloader.
