Problems, problems, problems....
Firstly, Windows Vista does have ActiveSync... it's just 'under the skin' of Windows Mobile Device Centre.
If, as you say "It just stopped working" and you haven't done anything, the obvious answer is to get it replaced or repaired under warranty. The Diamond only came out last May, so none of our devices are out of the one year warranty period.
What's more likely is that you've tried to flash a ROM to your device without reading and understanding how to go about it. Either way, you need to search the 'Diamond ROM development' forum... you will definitely find an answer there.
Just one more thing, without trying to give you a lecture (which I often end up doing without intension ), you'll get a better response from the forum users if you keep your posts short and 'to the point'. Asking a load of questions all at the same time just puts people off wanting to help... very time consuming is this!
I appologise for the rant, I really am trying to help

tried to upgrade my XDA to 2003 microsoft, i reset the phone, and now its just dead,i can't even boot to bootloader, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you used the reset hole under the headphone socket. Push once then push once more after 60 seconds.?
yes tried that, follow your instructions and all that happened was the internal lights came on,and thats it,even tried the bootloader again and still nothing,i can't even use active sync to flast the rom again.please help its doing my head in now.
dead xda
Do you mean an XDA 2? Because I've just done the same thing. And am (or have been)tearing my hair out too.
Then having got it into boot loader mode (which is tricky) and then cradled it I tried getting active sync 4 to find it but it couldn't. In despair I did bootload mode again and cradled it (grey screen says 'USB' now) and ran (and I can't encourage you to do this of course since it is illegal probably) a beta of mobile 2005. Now this found the mobile! And it's ...at 98% installed.

dead xda
and no (karma comes home) it doesn't work: get a message 'device authentification failure consult the product maufacurer..."
Damn
its an XAD 1 AND CAN'T EVEN GET THE BOOTLOADER UP ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HELP
PLAN B
O.K
(it's worth saying this all started because my pc crashed during an upgrade to the legitimate 2003 final rom for XDA 11. )
I couldn't get this installation to restart (I think because I expected active sync to say, 'yes, found the device' before re-installing - and it doesn't seem to need to do this. Or maybe not. Perhaps I'd just stuffed up getting it n boot loader mode? Who knows. Anyhow. Having another go at putting the legit rom upgrade on now. Fingers crossed & much praying.
dead?
I suspect that for you (and possibly for me also - the jury is still out on my machine) we may need to say hello to our local phone shop in the morning. But that's not the end of the world - tho' it'll probably cost a few £.

Note to self: have a look at other massively helpful forums on this site before doing dumb stuff! There are smart and well-informed people who have all the answers. (notably RAGO in the "stuck in o2 Splash screen forum")
Yippee
(I send apologies for posting all this in what I now realise is totally the wrong forum. (Newbie!)
Adios!
I had just the same problems,
I removed the battery & Sim
I held in the power button and reset button at the same time
but kept them both pressed for 1 min!
I Put the battery & sim back and it all seemed to reset.
Fluke?
not to sure yet but i had no problems
after.
Mac.
hi everyone. im new to the site. i'm amazed how much i never knew about my xda2i before i found this site. there are sooo many cool tools and stuff i'd never heard about. indeed, i wish i had found this site before i made a huge mistake!
i found an update for windows mobile 2005 and tried to use it to update my xda2i (which i now know is really called alpine). of course it didnt work out how i hoped. it ran through the whole process correctly. it erased the curent rom and - so it said - it wrote the new rtom to my device.
unfortunately my xda2i no longer works. the screen is blank and nothing seems to help. soft and hard reset dont work. i tried taking out the battery, and putting it in the cradle. the red light on the top right corner flashes when i do this. but still no joy. i tried re-loading the 2003 se rom but active sync wont detect my xda2i!!!
i cant get any other tools to work because they all seem to use active sync...
i was hoping there was a way to manually put my device into bootloader mode but i cant find anything on how to do this. if anyone can help it would be much appreciated!!!!
all sorted
well it looks like i was a bit premature in posting my problem. i've just been told how to manually put my alpine into bootloader mode. it worked a treat and i have no problems anymore. many thanks and once again im grateful to the have such a great resource as this site! i'll definitly donate next time i have some money in my paypal!
for anyone else having similar problems i'll just say how to put your device into bootloader mode as i had the hardest time finding it out. too many people assume this to be common sense and dont explain for all of us newbies! lol
simply hold down the power button, the select button (thats the directional pad pressed down centrally) and the reset button for a couple of seconds. this puts the alpine into bootloader mode.

there is no window2005 rom for 02i at the moment. note that before upgrade ROM you have to find out the suitable rom for you PPC. 02i rom is always Alpile ROM. the newest is 1.11.171 radio is 1.04
Hi all,
I saved loads of information on my tytn II during the summer. Very important files (notes most often). I was stupid enough to let WM6 store this on the main folder instead of the micro SD card.
Earlier this evening, I tried to use the camera and the phone froze (classical...) so I pressed "reset". Except it never really restarted! I could just reach the WM6 picture on the screen and it would stay there for ages... until a white screen with black text made it clear that a program was running while i'd pressed reset (i really doubt it, i hadn't launched anything), and that i'll have to press reset to recover the initial configuration of the phone (OUCH). I pressed reset just once (too scared to do a hard reset, im not crazy enough yet) but it still does the same thing, gets locked on the WM6 screen but never shows the damned white screen with the terrible message.
Is there any (even very expensive) way to retrieve the data? I hope it's not lost... I don't give a damn if the phone is a brick, i just want the data!
Thanks for your help guys, im a newbie and im really starting to hate WM6.
hi again...
I used bootloader thinking it could save my files with it (i don't think so!) and now it gets stuck at the "smart mobility" screen with the red serial numbers... it doesn't even reach the windows mobile screen (used to get stuck there before I used bootloader).
Please help
do you guys think i'll lose my data if I flash it (meaning i reinstall windows with a new ROM with bootloader?).
I've never flashed the device... Haven't used any ROM either, simply because i don't know how to do that.
thank you
I called HTC and they told me that reflashing would make me lose all my data... What can I do? Please help, no one has bothered to answer...

If you have an SD inside when trying to boot, take it out and try again.
Sometimes a faulty SD can prevent startup.
Hello
Ive finally got round to putting new radios and ROM on my diamond, a year after buying. Didnt want to before now incase i cocked it up (theres a lot of things to remember!)
Hard SPL went fine and i was putting the new radio on (1.00.25.05 in this case) when, at about 80% of the way through the install my pc froze (as its having a habit of doing at the most awkward times recently!)
I soft reset the diamond but now its at what i assume is the bootloader screen (?), its got red, green, blue and white bars and various writing, along with a message saying 'Upgrade ROM code error Please try again'
I had a hunt round and found something for another device saying how to get it back by loading a factory ROM through the bootloader menu but i dont know how to do this as i dont have a connection to activesync (phone wont go beyond this screen) etc.
If someone could explain in relatively simple steps it would help!
I should also clarify that the only way i can get this screen off is to remove all power but as soon as i put power back on it loads up direct to this screen again!)
When you device is in bootloader mode, you dont need active sync connection. just run the update utility and it will work without it, as it uses different drivers when connecting.
This turned out to be quite easy actually, i stumbled across the answer somewhere else!
Thanks for the help
Hi guys, ive made an account on here just to ask this question as im stumped
So my phone, HTC Desire C was less than a year old, about 10 months, and it suddenly just stopped working. The phone does not charge or turn on. However, it has been recognized by Windows but has failed to install the drivers. Im quite a PC nerd so ive gone around the long way to install the drivers by hand, still nothing. The error that Windows displays is "This device cannot start"
The phone does not boot into bootloader by power on switch and volume down
The phone does not display the HTC logo when turning on
The phone is pretty much a mobile brick; useless
Ive tried:
Charging for hours on end
New charger kit
New battery
Everything to get this phone to turn on or even to open the root folders on Windows.
The phone is rooted but i cannot tell you anything specific. Ive forgotten what i done to it. I do know that no custom roms was on the phone.
Is there any way to get the phone to come back alive?
Also, ive contacted HTC by Email and they have said that I should bring it to them. However, the fees that it will cost will most likely be more than the phone by it self. Id rather try and fix it and save me some cash. The phone isnt important anyway, I rarely use it
Any help will be much appreciated
