What kind of upgrades do you mean? ROM/radio or handset upgrades from an older XDA PPC?

NO WM2005 available
Hi!
There is no WM2005 available for the Alpine (XDA2i) at this point in time. Buzz is not able to work on it at the moment. as a result we are all stuck with 2003se for now. But keep chekin aroudn and perhaps u'll b lucky smday and find an upgrade
the upgrade is only available for the XDA2, not 2i, so its the Himalaya, not Alpine.
Regards!
Does anybody know what the plans are voor Windows Mobile 6 and the MteoR (Breeze)?
I'm very curious about the plans from HTC to publish a (free) rom upgrade
Does anybody know if it is possible to use a WM6 .bin file of another HTC device?
Reply from HTC Europe support Mar 15:
"We are currently awaiting an official response from our Head Office on the matter of ROM updates from Windows Mobile 5.0 to Windows Mobile 6. We hope to have an answer for you soon.? Please contact us again in a few weeks and we may be able to give you an update.Or check our website."
Believing Microsoft, there will be NO update for ANY smartphone.
A big differece to PPC-phones.
According to http://www.qtek.se/sweden/nyheter/senaste_nytt.aspx, free WM6 upgrades will be made available for the following HTC models:
HTC Advantage (X7500)
HTC S620
HTC TyTN
HTC P4350
HTC P3300
The release date is not set, but they figure that it will be in available June/ July.
So no WM6 for the MTeoR...
Royan
Update..?
Any more news on WM6 for the MTeor / Breeze?
Cheers, J.

WM6 for i-mate products
Hi Folks,
I complained to i-Mate tech support that Palm and Eten has a free WM6 upgrade for their ppc and asked 'What is i-mate doing for their customers?'
Just got a reply from i-mate tech support advising that they are working with Microsoft and the manufacturer, HTC to see if i-mate can offer a similar upgrade path to WM6 for the i-mate products. At least i-mate is looking into offering an upgrade path, instead of a defintive NO.
If all of our i-mate customers complain to i-mate strongly enough, we might get WM6 for the BlueAngel (i-mate PDA2K).
Hold your breath there might still be light at the end of the tunnel.
So email to [email protected] to lodge your complain.
Did the mention specifically the PDA2K?? I severely doubt they'll even consider a WM6 ROM release for the BA. Especially since we never saw a WM5 ROM release from any OEM.
WM6 upgrade for PDA2K
No they did not. However, I did specifically asked about WM6 upgrade for the PDA2K. Their reply was that they are working with Microsoft and the manufacturer on upgrade to WM6 for all their i-mate products.
Hopefully if there are enough of i-mate customers complains, then the chances of an upgrade to WM6 for the PDA2K would be better.
It is surely possible to run WM6 to our devices, but i dont think that any operator will release such upgrade(they even didn't release WM5 for it)

@xPlode - I strongly believe that one day I'll download 'xPlode WM6 Lazy Release' and install it on my BA.
YOU are the man who can sure do it! My very best wishes for you dude.

Unless I am presenting ... my name is Nicola and I live in lagonegro (South Italy)... I hope to be able to give help in my little experience and knowledge regarding handhelds...
now you remove a curiosity... the pda O2 xda ignito is compatible with the Italian phone company? work in Italy? and you can update the ROM with an official or not htc diamond? thanks a lot... and sorry for my english...
Nicola
I would suggest the answers to all of your questions are yes. Most of the O2 handsets are SIM free - if for any reason this model is not then it can be unlocked to work on the italian networks
hello, thank you for your answer... I also wanted to know if actually this pda is good or not... it can be a viable alternative to diamond?
thank you
Its essentially exactly the same as the Diamond, with the exception that the back cover is flat and not bevelled.
From what I know this O2 Ignito is an HTC Diamond. So, it probably has a default O2 ROM on it, but the hardware is all the same.
sorry guys, i'm little confusing because when first time i saw Himalaya's note is:"The Andes is the updated version that has a 1.3 megapixel camera, sold (among other names) as the XDA IIi" and for Alpine is:"The Alpine is sold as XDA IIi, Qtek 2020i, PDA2 and many other names."
so honestly i'm confuse.
Cheers!
as far as i am aware the Andes is simply a XDA II same hardware same spec but released in a different market.
To my knowledge its not a different device at all which seems likely with the lack of info on the thing, if it was an upgraded XDAII there would have been a lot more talking going on about it. infact i think ill change the Wiki ive had a good look now and it would seem to be nothing to do with the XDA IIi
Not sure if still required, but...
I believe the Alpine XDA IIi has wifi whereas the Andes XDA IIi does not.
I spent ages trying to flash my Alpine with a Himalaya ROM, without success, before I realised it was an Alpine and not an Andes.
My XDA wasn't bricked by all the effort, but I may have just been lucky.
ok
thanks everyone!
