Is there any way to change the theme to have more than one appointment on the screen at one time?
Cheers
Lee
When I have multiple appointments on my Today screen, it shows a maximum of two, and if I have more than two coming up (say, tomorrow) but I'm still on today's appointment, it will show the first appointment for tomorrow and then as soon as my current appointment is finished, it'll update to show both of tomorrow's...
... Do you mean you want to display more than two?

Yes - exactly - I want display more than two - say 3 or 4 - there must be a way to it since plug-ins can display?
Does PPC work the same way as Smartphone? ie - XML for the homescreens?
To achieve this, you'll need a Today plugin which offers this kind of functionality... The first that springs to mind has got to be Pocket Breeze ( http://www.sbsh.net/products/pocketbreeze/ ) - I don't use it myself, but I think I may try it out sometime soon (saw it a while back, noted it, but never got round to trying it out).
Or if you're either a dab hand at programming (or know someone who's fearless enough to undertake some) then you could always try writing your own Today screen plugin...
http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/sampchap/5461a.asp#100
SPB Diary will also accomplish the same thing. http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=17704&associateid=17
Hmmm....not sure about Pocket Breeze thing - it's a bit much for just one function! And I like a nice clean Today screen - PB just make it look "busy".
Looks like I'll have to read-up on xml - unless anybody else knows a simple solution?
Cheers
Did some more browsing, found some goodies on PocketPCFreewares:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?cat=13&sortby=rating
tAgenda 1.1
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=565
Calendar+ 2.2.10
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=108
Both look pretty good, I think I'll try them both.
I have made a small (simple) tool for personal use. Maybe someone else want to use it too?
It schedules an 'send and receive' for an account (only Pop3). Just like in Microsoft Outlook (pc).
you must have .NET Compact Framework 2.0 (or higher) installed to make it work.
Have seen this already
Good work!
New version added, with status icon on the today screen.
Hows this any different from the scheduler you have built into Pocket Outlook?
It uses Pocket Outlook to 'send and receive'.
Thanks for the reply!
I'm still puzzled though....Pocket Outlook has a scheduler....how is this different? I am very interested as Pocket Outlook is having problems checking email when in sleep mode, so any advice/info you can give will really help
You can use the schedular in Pocket Outlook, in your account. But it's not that easy/fast to change it.
So my need for a new tool was created. Easy and fast to switch and shut down. And this is what it is.
Any thoughts on adding IMAP support to this?
Sorry for kicking this thread.
But this sounds like the exact tool I need!
Unfortunately it doesn't work on my s620 (wide screen) phone.
Maybe because the display dimensions are different... does anyone got this (or a similair) tool running on a s620?
Hi!
I am very interested by your application.
Could you tell how you schedule the send/receive event and how you make it happen?
My goal is to make the send/receive frequency lower than allowed by the WM6 outlook configuration (minimum 5 min).
This program works great as i like to get my emails every couple of mins or so (not the standard 5 min).. but the only problem ive found is that when the phones screen is off (on standby mode) the email notification does not come through..it only comes through if you have your phones screen turned on..
Is there or has there been a fix for this??
So i guess nothing?
I just need a program that will allow my email to send/receive more often than the standard time allowed (5 minutes)....

Yes, someone else reported that bug too. But I don't have the time to look about it. Maybe someone else??
I would love it if someone could fix this.. i have been looking for a program like this since ive had my phone.. if i knew how to do it i would attempt it myself.. please, if anyone has the time to try and fix this issue i would much appreciate it!
HI, I need sw that only activate send/receive when I run it.
Does anydody know for that kind of sw?

Greets,
I recently was duped into thinking a meeting, which was a week away, was actually that day ... because the Tilt shows the next appointment regardless of how far in the future that appointment is.
Does anyone know how to set the Tilt to show only appoints for the current day?
Thanks!
Start \ Settings \ Today \ Items \ Calendar \ Options has 3 Selections:
Display : Next Appointment (Radio Button)
Display : Upcoming Appointments (Radio Button)
and a check box to display all day events.
From what I am seeing in the options, unless you have selected upcoming appointments, you can't change it. I haven't used the default calendar in a LONG time, and never in WM6. There might be a registry entry you could change, but I have no idea on how to "phrase" the search.
There are many 3rd party programs that can display your calendar. I use pocket breeze, but there are others, and even a couple of good freebies.
I personally use PocketBreeze also and you don't have to worry about this with all of the settings (its just trying to get all of the dang settings configured right as there are SO MANY! ).
TodayAgenda is a free app that works pretty well and may resolve this for you. Check it out (a lot of people use it here). I paid for PocketBreeze and like the speed of it better, and the tabs it gives for different things on the Today Screen.
SPB Diary?
The SPB line of software seems to be really comprehensive ... I am looking thru the SPB Diary manual to try to see if it would work too.
Anyone tried Calendar+? I used it on my PPC 6700 - not sure if it supports WM6 - was a very small and basic calendar replacement that was very customizable.

It is annoying and you would have thought Microsoft would have upgraded some of the internal apps by now (been like this since CE!) I fell into the same trap as you earlier in the year. Not wanting to add another package, I then started actually putting the date/time on the Title of my appointments which shows up on the today screen.
So I've been lurking on these forums for quite awhile now getting my Tilt tricked just right. . Everything is perfect.
Except the calendar.
I've read the calendar threads and tried every calendar app under the sun. They all suck. Why is this?
Datebk5 on Palm was a perfect calendar app.
Nothing is even close for WM.
I can send a friend a text with a map of my exact location, listen to XM radio, give a powerpoint presentation, and watch YouTube on my Tilt, but it takes me about half an hour to enter a single appointment.
Well I'm currently using Pocket Informant 8, and I think it's the best of an awful crop of products.
Anybody with some ingenuity and a penchant for trying to emulate the simplicity of Palm's calendar apps will make a lot of money - just don't know why it hasn't happened yet.
Comments?
I couldn't agree more, Date Book 5 for my palm was a great app. I have been looking for anything that comes close....so far, no luck
I like Pocket Informant the most, so if you haven't tried it before may be worth a look.
What is it that you don't like about the ones you have tried and which ones?
I totally agree. I've been searching for a good calendar that I can pull up on my today screen but haven't found anything worth installing.
Looks like rlToday (http://rotlaus-software.de/projects/rltoday) might be able to create a visually appealling calendar. Unfortunately I don't have the free time to work on one.
I also use Pocket Informant 8 and it definately is a pale imitation of DB5! PI8 doesn't fully support icons, linking or templates like DateBk5. I really didn't know how well I had it with Palm apps such as DB5. Also, the other thing that sucks about Pocket Informant is that when you post on their forums due to bugs, poor implementation of features, etc. they aggressively argue with you (at least the founder does) so there really isn't the culture to improve the product.
Would pocket informant also let you use it for your calendar but still use today agenda on your home screen?

I have Pocket Informant and also like it the most.
Here's what I miss:
On Datebk 5:
1. Scroll to a day.
2. Start typing a number (the time).
3. Click done.
4. Type subject.
5. Done.
On PI:
1. Scroll to day.
2. Click menu button.
3. Click new.
4. Type subject.
5. Click on start time.
6. Click in start time (with stylus).
7. Click ok.
8. Click ok.
9. Done.
All day appts for datebk 5:
1. Scroll to day.
2. Type subject.
3. Done.
Simplicity, that is the key!
Programs I've tried:
Extreme Agenda - not simple.
Agenda Fusion 8 - same.
Agenda One - same.
OtO - developer has suspended the project - but it has potential.
Speereo Sapie - voice activated app that has the potential to be a killer app - but way too buggy and not very customizeable.
What I like about Datebk5: Simple, customizeable, and powerful enough to handle whatever you throw at it.
If anybody's watching, there is a LOT of money at stake for the first person to make a killer app. I will personally pay more than any of the apps out there to find something that works.

I noticed that too! They don't seem to be the friendliest over there. Glad I'm not the only one.
Maybe SuperCalendar would work for you, easy to use

Pocket Breeze!!
PocketBreeze 5.4 by sbsh is the BEST Today Claendar app I've seen. It's really versatile and you can add many applications as tabs to use directly in the today screen (not launch buttons, check the site for more info).
If it means anything, I've used it on all my WM PPCs.
For creating new entries in the calendar, I don't find that that much of a pain... But I might be used to it
It has been 6+ years since I have used a plam (i.e. any palm calendar). But I have been using an older version of SBSH Pocket Breeze for a little over a year and I find that it provides many workarounds for the problems I commonly had with the WM5/6 calendar.
It actually is just an alternative GUI for the stock calendar really but it resides on your homepage and really streamlines the process. You can basically set it up however you would like (TONS of settings you can tinker w/).
I just upgraded to BP 5.4 (I think? whatever the newest one is), after unlocking my Wizard and upgrading to a custom WM6 ROM. I am really liking the new version so far, just as powerful as the older version but more streamlined and userfriendly. It's just too bad that the new Pocket Weather app from SBSH blows goats, I liked the old version better...
12day free trial when you download from their site the last poster linked, so you can try it out...

Yes, that's how I have it set up. The today plugin builtin to PI is part thati don't like.
Maybe Im lucky though - kaiser is my first pda so I have less to compare it to considering all the other complaints

Ok I'm trying out pocket informant now, while it does seem to have alot of options, I don't really see what it can do that is better than the stock calendar. What customizations or features are you using? I don't really like how the text is so small.
spb
i use spb PP4 and have spb diary in one of its tabs all by itself..nice font sizes and does all that I need...having a calander app on my main today screen takes up too much real estate. I find this method works well... free trial of both or just diary on thier website.

I totally agree: DateBK was (and probably will be) the best calendar ever. Nothing comes even close:
- week view in DateBK was perfect, PI fonts are too small, AgendaOne looks OK
- day view in DateBK was perfect, PI is the scale way too big, AgendaOne just sucks. Looks like Agenda Fusion is ok, but I don't like the rest of that program
- Other calendars not mentioned above just don't have the native look and feel of WM6.
Now trying Extreme Agenda, but I don't like the dayview. Can someone just clone DateBK???
I just got my Sprint touch and I'm missing Datebk5 as well.
Right now I'm trying Pocket Breeze as I like it's today plugin best. I'm thinking about PI as the calendar, Pocket Breeze will interface with it but there's one problem, when I set PI as the default PIM, it also is used for contacts and darn it, I want to use PocketCM. Anyone got an idea on how to tweak the registry for that?
I like PI and only use it's "Week View". You can configure the fonts and color schemes. I set it to NOT be the default PIM manager, that way you can just map a key to the view you like (PI Week un my case) and jump right to it.
This way it doesn't mess with any contact/task manager you might like and it still syncs with Outlook. I had used PocketCM but after HTC Random access came out, I just use it as my contact manager for it's speed and simplicity.
I usually try a different calendar app every couple of months, usually shorty lafter trying a different ROM and I ALWAYS go back to TodayAgenda.
http://www.tiews.info/index.php?show=&lang=en
I have been trying the PocketBreeze calendar app for the last couple of days. It's not that the calendar app is so great but the Today screen plugin really couldn't do much more!
I've realy been impressed so far. The main compliment is the ability to navigate to basically anything with just one handed D-pad use! The small pop up calendar is well designed.
i would suggest trying it
Try OtO
A new one is One Touch Organizer. It's still in mid development and I think has a lot of potential. I used it on my wizard when it was v2 and now on the Blue Angel with v5, which just came out about a month ago. It is available on the site here and IMHO worth a look.
I know that while creating a new appointment, WM6/Office Mobile does not have the capability to let you set a different time zone for that appointment -like Outlook on a PC. I have searched for quite a while on this site and elsewhere using different combinations of seach phrases to locate a solution to this - a hack or a addon application or a replacement for the built in calendar program with this capability - either freeware or commercial. It is a strong irritant for me because at least half of the entries in my calendar need to be created with time zones set to a zone different from mine. Each time I have to do a calculation in my mind to add or subtract the difference before creating an appointment. If I dont do that and then I go travelling all appointments get shifted to wrong time slots. Anyway to a cut a long story short - I did find an application called TimeZones on www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php which seems to do exactly what I need - However that does not work on WM6 !!!! presumably this was written for some older version of WM.
I am sure there are many people out there for whom this will be a very useful feature.
Any help in finding a solution to this will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Bump!
Several days and no comments! Either I am one of the very few who is bugged by this problem or there is no solution! I am afraid of the later because I didn't even get flamed for not searching before asking!!!!!
Try SPB Traveler. It does exactly what you want.
Thanks a lot. I will give it try right away
Does PocketInformant allow this?
On thie site:
Multiple Alarms, Travel Appointments
Beyond the primary alarm, you can now add secondary alarms, notifications and travel appointments to new and existing appointments

This was in the manual:
There is almost no difference between the dialog you see when creating a new appointment, and
the one you see when you edit an existing one. The only exception is with Appointment
Timezones which only show up for new appointments.

Thanks guys for your help. Of the two Pocketinformant is more like what I needed. Many of the goodies in SPB Traveller are already available on Worldmate (free version). Thanks again for the suggestions
