How can I force MMS composer to pick up the right connection for MMS sending and receiving. Namely, it always picks up current "Internet setting" connection rather than choosing one specified within the "connect via" MMS setting. There is a large difference in the amount charged per message between the two and I don't feel like switching the default connection every time I use MMS. Is there a solutionto to this? Using 1.40 rom, 1.12 radio and Default_ArcsoftMMS-2.0.0.23-BA_8Apr05.CAB
Problem solved by adding the desired connection name in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Arcsoft/ArcSoft MMS UA/mm1/test/ConnectionVia

Thats exactly the time, when my Herald started to bug me with connection intertuptions and various radio-malfunctions. After messing around with the neworksettings I finaly got rid of these Problems by reinstalling HTC WM6 RUU and then switch back to my preferred costum ROM.
I verified this behaviour by starting the Network Wizard again. As I experienced same problems again, I can only recommend to avoid using the network wizard.
Hey i was wondering if someone can help me out! i just recently started getting a lot of MMS messages and sending MMS messages. Now i was wondering if there was a way to send and receive MMS messages with out using the data plan. I dont pay for the data plan so each time i send/receive MMS i have to pay. Is there a way to use WiFi connection so i dont have to pay and i can send/receive for free? Is there some settings i need to change? or some programs i can dl? or there is nothing i can do!
Thanks!

You could always attach media in an email. That uses WiFi.
Hope that helps.
that wont work cause i would like to recieve and send to people cell phones not to email!
In Settings -> Connections -> Connections you could set you settings to "My Work Network" which it usually assigned to WiFi (you can check in WiFi settings)
MIGHT work but I'm not 100% positive. And even if it did, you'd have to stay connected to WiFi all day or for an access point to just Send/Recieve to see if you got an MMS message.
OR I do believe theres an option through activesync that you can use your computer's internet through your phone. So that would probably be your best bet.
Hope that helps.
Does AT&T still charge data for MMS messages? I read somewhere they don't anymore even though MMS still uses data.

MMS is under your messanging package.
I have a family plan and in that plan it is unlimited messaging (SMS and MMS)
I also have unlimited data so I need not worry.
On the other hand, when another member of the family plan gets a MMS message, it will cost them the $0.25 per KB or whatever the rate is now to download the MMS.
MMS uses the data connection to get the message.
Got in deep charges once with that on an older phone.
MMS will ALWAYS use Data. Such Is Life.
That is true but i spoke to someone at ATT since i have unlimited text messaging...mms is free....yes the data starts up when you send/receive mms messages/downloads and will stop right after its done....and with unlimited text its free...theres a reason it is but i dont remember why!

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\
the 1st key is CacheTime the number denotes the number of seconds to wait before the auto disconnect
set it to: 60
the 2nd key is Multiline value / String SuspendResume which can have 2 values
set it to: GPRS_bye_if_device_off

i got the first line, where do i fine multiline?
A quick method - create a bogus connection for GPRS and set that as default
Settings\All Settings\Connections\Connections\Manage Existing Connections
Click New...
Enter a name... I used "Bogus Connection"
Select modem: Cellular Line
Enter the numner: Any bogus number - I used "12345678"
User Name: Anything
Password: leave blank
Domain: anything
Click OK. When back at your list of connections, select the bogus connection radio button. Whenever a program tries to access the internet and there is no WiFi, the phone will now prompt you to enter the password for the bogus connection. Re-enabling the actual GPRS connection is easy - just select the correct radio button.
Hi everyone,
I've got a similar problem. My Diamon 2 keeps connecting to SFR's wap through the EDGE network everytime I open TomTom for some strange reason...
I've just tried the woraround that Larry suggested but it didn't work for me. My phone still connects to SFR's WAP .
Maybe the easiest thing for me would be to flash HSPL and then a stock HTC ROM. Do you think it would help?
Installing a stock HTC ROM solved my problem so it looks like it was all down to the SFR customized ROM...
Modaco NoData seems to keep closing itself on my Topaz. I've tried adding to exclusive programs list in Task Manager but that doesn't help - it still keeps shutting itself down for some reason.
No idea why, getting frustrated now. Why can't WM handle data connections like Symbian...
I'm getting MMS stuck on "sending...." with pictures any ideas?
I occasionally send picture messages. but most of the time they get stuck on sending....
some forum posts mention APN on off?
My friend has the same phone and lives with me her MMS were working ok today.
Also i set to auto receive MMS but i got a message with a download button from her. (so i had to manually download it)
What can i do to fix this?
Cheers
I have same issue with Custom Android Rom on my HD2 ... im on o2 and apn etc appear to be fine but stuck stuck stuck!! any help would be great
Had the same problem and tried the same solutions-I checked, double checked, deleted and put apn settings back in but it never made any difference for me. Have found though that if I leave 'Data Network' permanently on I can then both send and recieve mms. If I turn it off and get a mms I get the 'downloading' message but it never actually does when I turn the data back on.
Not much of a solution I admit but it works for me.
its usually your APN settings that cause the MMS to not send. Specifically for my provider (3), there are two APNs that I can set (3services and 3netaccess). I can only send MMS if I set the APN to 3services apparently because this goes through their internal servers first.
If your friend has the same phone and you are both on the same network, check her APN settings and make it the same for you.
MMS only works when data is enabled. Wifi needs to be off.

her settings are the same, her MMS seemed ok but slow, but she has only 3 free per month so i had to stop testing. I get 100 free, so i can send them to myself to test

yey I can send pictures of the cat doing crazy stuff (isn't that what MMS is for )
Glad the APN worked
I am glad that you were able to get your picture messages working again. Sometimes fixing the APN settings can act only as a band-aid for this issue. If the steps at How to fix an Android phone Stuck on Sending or Downloading when picture messaging doesn’t help… then you might need to contact your service provider because it might be something on their end that’s not configured correctly.
Don’t forget that a backup and reset on an Android device can often fix this issue as well.

Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help me with this. I noticed when I was trying to send an MMS my data connectivity drops. So, when I am on mobile data I can't receive nor send MMS message. My work around is to delete the incoming or outgoing MMS messages.
The thing is when I am connected to Wi-Fi I can receive MMS no problems but then again I am not connected to wifi all the time.
Any insights is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Jovie.Android
That's a correct behaviour, due to mms using different connection settings (APN for example).
No big surprise. If you look on the GCF website, it doesnt appear that the MMS testing was performed. Likely they say, we support it, but not according to 3GPP or OMA. This is becoming more and more popular as MMS testing costs about 20k€ for first run testing and most people never even use MMS anymore.
They also fail most of the wifi alliance testing, btw. That is slightly related. They have a big issue with cellular stack performing a PDP context deactivation when it shouldn't. Basically, the stack looks if wifi is attached, but not whether or not data traffic is possible, then drops the cellular data connection.
