I have upgraded my PDA2K to 2005 and I love it. When I boot the device I get the color bars (boot screen or splash) while loading the OS. Is there anyway to set it back to personal picture. I tried the old way of using mda3_bootimage_changer and nothing changes. Thanks
There is no way to change it at this time, and for a while ;-). Just close your eyes everytime you have to soft reset

I successfully loaded WM6 on my Cingular 8125, but it had some weird issues (today screen didn't fully draw, ringtone screen wouldn't close, etc.) so I decided to go back to the stock ROM. But I thought I'd try a hard reset first and that's where I ran into problems. The screen stays white, but there's a constantly changing series of vertical colored lines that move all over the screen. I can't do a hard reset and can't get into the bootloader. All I get is the shifting white screen and ActiveSync won't see the device, but I get occasional USB bleeps/bloops when i plug the device in.
Any tips on recovering and going back to the original ROM? I've learned my lesson and won't fool with WM6 on my locked G4
Try turning your phone off, and then press and hold the camera button and then press the on button while still holding the camera button and that should put you in to bootloader mode. From there, download and flash the stock ROM from your service provider and see if that works. From your description of what it's doing though, it might actually be a hardware issue that just happened coincidentally at the same time you tried to flash a new ROM. Hopefully it's just software related though for your sake.
New HTC Tytn II... upon soft reset, more often then not it shows the "smart mobility" screen, the HTC logo, then the screen goes dark. The unit remains on (radio light blinks), but otherwise the unit is totally locked up.
Takes a lot of soft resets and eventually it boots past the HTC logo (goes to the green Windows Mobile logo screen).
Any ideas?

try doing a hard reset: keep both of the soft keys pressed(these are keys between the green and red phone keys; on top of the internet and messaging symbol) and insert your stylus into the reset hole on bottom. Keep them pressed for a while- than its going to bring a screen which will basically ask you if you want to erase all data and restore manfacuturer's original settings hit the send key as the statement says and phone will reboot. If my directions aren't clear than search the kaiser wiki and it will bring up the info you need.
If this doesn't solve your problem than i would suggest getting in touch with HTC or whoever you bought the phone from to get an exchange as, if its new, its still probably under warranty (granted you haven't flashed a spl or rom on to it in which case you need to go back to original spl and rom).
Ok, I know not everyone will have a similar situation and maybe my post is quite late since many might have moved on to other nicer phones ;-)
I was uploading ROM using ShellTool that takes awfully long and my PC (an XP) decided to download updates and reboot all by itself. Needless to say, I was stuck at the boot screen with the IPL, SPL, GSM and the OS screen. The OS was showing 6.0.0.1 and that's it. pressing the Voice Dial and COMM button and resetting didn't help. So out of frustration, I pressed the Camera and Voice Dial buttons and did a reset and Presto, got the Red, Green, Blue with USB screen. I was able to load ATT's WM5 on it. Am sure many will like to know this minor pleasant mishap.
Hard Reset is mentioned here http://www.pocketpccentral.net/help/cingular/8125reset.htm
I would call my trick as the Hard Wiping

It's not a trick, it is called the RGB bootscreen.
not same as RGB, the actual boot.
well, all I got stuck was at the boot screen, not the RGB screen, the screen that just shows the IPL, SPL, GSM and OS numbers with the Cingular screen. I did not find anywhere that showed me to get out of the screen till I accidentally came across it. Actually, the record button is not necessary, just the camera button is fine while pressing the reset and holding it till the RGB screen is back.
Where did you get AT&T's WM5 rom, I am having the same problem. I have the IPL/SPL but can't find the rom, the link in the thread here no longer works.
Thanks.
Hi, I'm new to XDA Dveloper. sorry if its already questioned..I don't have time to search for them, I'm running my laptop on battery that only will last about 15 minutes..and I have my electricity out..
Yesterday, I got My diamond exposed to water...it was raining hard and I was on my bike with my diamond in my pocket..
when I got home, my diamond begin to act strangely, it keeps lower its volume(to vibrate state) when I try to press the increase volume rocker, it goes back down to vibrate. but I manage to shut it down with slide2shutdown...and charge it (the battery only 7% left). this morning I get up and switch on the diamond, but It doesn't boot like usual(theTOUCHDiamond sceen)...
it only shows 4 bars (RED, GREEN, BLUE, and WHITE)consist of:
RED BAR with this:
DIAM100 64M
SPL-1.37.Olinex
MicroP-Diam (LED) v11
GREEN Bar with:
PSOC-Diam Stage_PVT v0x30
BLUE Bar : blank
WHITE Bar with
Serial (only "serial is written, nothing more)
That all, and when I try to connect with USB cable, it demands Qualcomm CDMA Drivers...(I use My friend's laptop....no activesync installed)
anyhelp would be appreciated.
thanks

what are you trying to hardreset device..??
A hard reset should only be performed if a normal reset does not solve a system
problem. After a hard reset, the device is restored to its default settingsā
the way it was when you first purchased it and turned it on. Any programs you installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on your device will be lost. Only Windows MobileĀ® software and other pre-installed programs will remain.
Try flashing back to stock rom?

Hi!
I have a boot problem also.
I used Memo ROM about 1 month ago. That was worked well still today. I restarted my Diamond today, it was not boot correctly. Only reboot the phone after showing the ROM information. I made hard reset and put back the rom again, but the phone is not boot properly.
Could to help somebody for me?
I solved the problem.
I downloaded the original rom (included with radio rom) from htc.com.
I put the phone to bootloader mode and flashed this original ROM.
After flashing finished, my diamond boot to WM6.1.
I don't know what was the problem, but it works again...
I hope never happening this again!
Greetings all!
I have an AT&T Tab that I got a few weeks ago, and yesterday I let my curiosity get the best of me and decided to flash the Euro firmware to enable the calling function. It flashed flawlessly and, popping my personal SIM in, I could easily make calls and text and was pretty happy with the experience aside from two things. First, the home screen was no longer centered (page 3 of 5) but was on the far left on page 1. Petty concern, perhaps, but I really prefer the symmetry of the stock AT&T layout (as well as HTC Sense). I haven't enjoyed any aftermarket launchers so I didn't want to bother when them, and that would have been acceptable enough if it didn't result in the loss of my Media Hub and the $50 credit I got from registering the device with Samsung. Also perhaps a petty concern, but a concern nonetheless.
After getting it fully rooted and adding apps, the Tab would freeze horribly, becoming completely unresponsive and requiring a hard reset. This was after installing Titanium. But by this time, I decided to have a go at reflashing the stock ROM as provided by rotohammer. He did indeed warn us that there was no boot screen, and he was correct. Aside from that the experience is completely stock and just as it should be.
But the reason for this thread is...WTF can I do to get some sort of flash screen and boot animation so I'm not looking at a black screen for ages until the lock screen comes up? I've tried replacing the boot animation ZIP file with some files provided on these forums using Root Explorer, and it has no effect at all.
For some of you brains out there, I'll present a bit more info that may be of some use if you're willing to try to figure out a resolution to this:
Upon powering it on, the Galaxy Tab Samsung image appears for a second or less, then the screen goes black. After a few moments you hear the chime that accompanies the normal Samsung boot animation, but the screen is still black. Finally, after the typical length of time for booting, you can access the lock screen, but you have to hit the power button to get it to appear; it doesn't just light itself up as it should. I actually have to put it to sleep with one push, wake it up with another, then the lock screen appears and I'm using my Tab like normal. There was one time that I pressed the power key as it was booting and I saw the image of the boot animation briefly, but that's not typical.
Another thing that might help you figure out the root problem here is that I can't boot in Recovery. I power off completely, hold down the Power and Volume Up keys until I see the backlight come on, but the screen remains black. I can't actually see any of the text on the screen, but I know from experience that the device is in Recovery because if I hit Power, it reboots again, just as it would if pressed in Recovery (when the reboot option is highlighted).
When I put it in Download mode, I do see the normal screen with the Android shoveling.
Surely the inability to see splash screens and boot animations is related to not being able to see the Recovery menu, right? Can anybody help me get a splash and animation going on this without affecting anything else? I know that this too may sound petty to some, but I really want to make this the perfect tablet experience, like it was before I started messing with things.
I should also note that the shutdown animation works just fine. So far the entire experience seems pretty normal once you get past the boot.
Several peeps have had a blank boot screen issue after flashing a rom on att tabs; myself included. The blank boot screen usually has a thin white line, too.
Maybe check out this thread for some ideas: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928076

Thanks for the link! I looked around but didn't find any proposed fixes. Obviously overlooked this one.
However, that fix seems to be for people who go from stock to custom. In my case I went from stock to Euro and back to stock, but the resulting symptom is the same as described in the above link - except I have no white line, it's just black.
Given that I went back to stock and have this problem, will the above referenced fix work for me, or am I FUBAR? I don't want to risk bricking it just to fix the boot animation issue.
I cannot say for certain if it will help in your case. But here is my sequence of events that cause blank screen and when I applied the fix in the link:
Stock (non-blank boot)
Jmev4 rom (blank boot screen started)
Jmiv2 (never bothered to fix boot screen)
Overcome 1.3.0 failed install due to blank boot screen and cant 'see' recovery mode
Jmiv2 again fine but with blank boot screen
Follow link to fix blank boot
Jmiv2 now with fixed boot screen
Overcome 1.3.0 success!
So maybe you can apply fix to stock?

Hopefully some of our dev wizards can chime in? I'm wary of trying something out that might turn my Tab into an expensive scrying mirror.
I ran the fix for the blank boot screen. Odin declared the flash a success but I can confirm that it didn't fix a goddamn thing! There is absolutely no change in the device whatsoever after installing the jj4 bootloaders.
Just to confirm, it was downloaded as a .ZIP file which contained a .TAR file. It was the .TAR file that I added into the PDA field; that was correct, right? Or was I to insert the .ZIP in the PDA field?
Does anybody have any idea why there's no visible splash screen, boot animation or recovery mode screen? Rotohammer: are you still alive? I got this stock ROM from your post; surely you've figured something out by now, no?
If Samsung/AT&T finally release 2.3, do you think installing it will resolve this issue? Where is everybody that could help with this??? Have they all forgottten about the Tab and gone on to bigger screens/greener pastures?
