Have an O2 XDA IIs (PH20B)
I upgraded to WM2005, followed instructions.
All appears OK, except it will not connect to my operator (I cannot make a phone call)
If I click on the phone antenna at the top of the screen, then pick the network tab, the "current network" setting says "searching..."
If I click "Find Network", it says "Registering on the network..." then sets the Current Network field to "No service"
Any ideas ?
TIA
That happened to me 2 times allready, I just took the batery out, removed the SIM card, put it back again, turnd on... and the network was ok.
I thouth I had something wrong with my SIM contact on the phone, but I noticed that there are some users geting this problem, don't know, it worked for me, try it.
Messing with SIM does nothing. Defo not the sim, I have 2 and I know they both work.
I updated my radio ROM, but still no joy
On boot is says:
R: 1.13.00
G: 1337.42
D: 5.03.02 WWE
I downgraded back to 2003 and I still have the same problem !
I noticed as well that the green (top right) activity light doesn't come on at all - it seems like the radio isn't even turning on or something.
Please help !
Ignore - it turned out that I had TWO dead SIMs. So whilst I was thinking "Surely both can't be broken, it must be the phone", I was wrong.
All is good now with WM 2005
Thanks all
Update:
Sims were NOT dead.
When replacing the SIM or removing the battery, I have to soft-reset to get the phone to work.
So, if I boot and see
R: None
G: None
D: 5.03.02 WWE
I have to reset (stick stylus in reset hole), it will then show:
R: 1.13.00
G: 1337.42
D: 5.03.02 WWE
and it will work on boot into windows.

After upgrading to 1.40, connecting to GPRS is hit or miss. When the problem occures it is normaly after the GPRS connection has been disconnected for a while, then when connecting again, I get the error "Cannot Connect". The only way out of this is to soft reset or turn ON then OFF "flight mode" (restart radio). The real problem in troubleshooting this issue is, I can not make it happen on a consistant basis, in fact, I can not duplicate it at all (it happens when it wants to). If you also have this issue, please offer any info you have on WHEN it happens or sequence of events that makes it happen.
Problem: "Cannot Connect" error when connecting to GPRS (all connection settings are correct).
When: ?????
Work around: restart radio
Note: This is not the same problem as "red phone button disconnects GPRS" ("Flags2") as discussed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=21972&sid=ff63b7f3db5fceffff1cd54fe61ffd27
the same for me!!
don't know why!!!
Does it seem to happen after a couple of hours after a soft reset?
Also, I have noticed turning flight mode ON then OFF only works for the next connection, after that I get the "Cannot Connect" error. A soft reset may work for several connect/disconnect cycles before it craps out.
Please post when it happens for you.
Got the same for a while now. Started to occur indeed after installing 1.40. My use is quite simple: an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening; in the evening it won't connect; soft reset and the thing goes again.
Did not found a woraround yet but will keep trying and share it with you if so.
XdaIIi - Cannot Connect GPRS
My XdaIIi is also giving the same problem. Turning Flight mode on/off gives some relief; buy only temporary. Compared to soft rest, this is far better. Why O2 is not providing any solution.

Norwegian devices with the 1.40 ROM is also having this problem!

This seems to be the fix!!!!

I posted this before, I had the same problem with GPRS not reconnecting. Now i am able to use GPRS without any problem. My solution was to downgrade my caller id version to 1.20 build 17957. When i first upgraded to AKU_RC 20 was when i first had the problem, tried the later version RC21 and still didnt work. I tried this several times, only the caller id version being changed produced the problem. Try that and see if it works for you

Thanks to efjay!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the best way to update the Caller_ID cab? When I update, it tells me that it is available in ROM. Can it be done without doing a hard reset i.e. re-installing all over again?
You have to move the following files from \windows directory to a temporary location before installing the cab.
CallerID.dll
DisplayCID.dll
IA_CID_StartUp.exe
IA_CID_StartUp.lnk (From /windows/startup)
IACIDSync.dll
iacontacts.dll
After re-installation, change all the dll files in the temporary location to txt file. Softreset. You can then delete these files in temporary location.
Hope this help.
Chris,
I tried what you suggested but I still get the message re file windows/ai???.dll is in ROM. I do not have any of these dlls in the windows directory or at startup.
Please let me know if you have other ideas. Thanks.
SK
You have to use gsfinder or resco explorer to see all system files.
Anybody else try this or the people who did it before today, Is it still working? I have the same issue. I just applied this fix, but it is too early to tell if it did anything...
thanks for the replies
It worked for me! Thanks very much to everybody who helped to discover and post this fix. It saved me from having to downgrade my entire rom, because I was cheesed off with having to do flight mode off/on every time I wanted to connect to the internet via cellular line, which I do often, because I've got an old Genie SIM with free WAP (not GPRS).
I found the instructions easy to follow, and I didn't even need to use gsfinder or resco explorer - I just set File Explorer to Show All Files.
Cheers,
John

This fix has worked great for me (xda IIi ROM 1.11.00 Radio 1.00.00 ExtROM 1.11.923). When prompted that certain files are in ROM or in use, simply changing the file name of the files in question did the trick. For the first time in a very long time of using the XDA II and now the XDA IIi, I can reconnect to GPRS without a hitch.
Same Problem Here. I am going to try the Fix now
Moving to caller id version to 1.20 build 17957 worked great for me. No more GPRS cut outs at all.
Working Good Here. even the Wifi reconnects very very Nice THank you
Problem solved!!, This upgrade works great, thanks!!!
Hey All-
Rather then adding to the large Helmi thread, I figured it would be best to start my own...
In short today I upgraded from TuMa v1.3 to Helmi's new ROM: Helmi_BA_WM2k5_AKU_2.3_32mb_v1.rar
Everything went fine during the upgrade, I set the Operator Code to T%CID? which was retrieved by using GetDeviceData.exe and the upgrade went smoothly... but now the phone functionality doesn't work at all. I've tried with two different SIM's, one being a T-Mobile and the other a Cingular. Both just show no service when inserted, although if I place those SIM's into other phones everything works properly without issue and I get 'full bars' (I have another Cingular 8125 and a T-Mobile SDA).
Here is what I have done so far:
- Reupgraded the Radio to the latest rev 1.15
- Recreated the nk.nbf again with retyping the operator code
- Reupgraded to the ROM to Helmi's
- Reunlocked SIM with xdadev_all_unlock-v1.5.exe
... and still no phone service.
Any suggestions on how to get the phone functionality to work properly? Its pretty much useless right now...
Thanks!

I'm not sure that T%CID is right for an operator code... I know for O2 UK it's O2___001 and I'm sure a T-Mobile code isT-MOB101, both of these are 8 digits... check you're devicedata output again and use the setoperator.bat to set it properly, then try again
It's all good clean fun

I have the same operator code T%CID? but only on WM5. When i use 2003SE it is DANGA001.

I had such error on TuMa 1.4 but reinstalling the ROM helped for a while. Then I tried helmi's ROM and the problem gone. But a couple of days ago it appeared once and reflashing did not help. What I done is downgraded to 2003SE, did a hardreset and reinserted SIM. The phone came back to work. Then installed helmi's ROM again. Now it is working for a day without any trouble, HOPE it's gone forever.
Tried a few things...
I tried downgrading and then reupgrading, but it still is stuck. No phone service. Interestingly enough the LED for the phone doesn't even come on anymore.
Interestingly enough when I select the phone settings from the upper menu I'm getting a Popup message stating "The phone is not ready. Wait 15 Seconds and try again." Obviously waiting 15 seconds does nothing...
Any other ideas?
Thanks!
tempie23
sometimes (happened to me) the operator info corrupts when upgrading to WM5
copy the files attached to the update directory and run 'MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe'

No it is not, it sounds like he has the same SX 66 that I have.
The ID is = AT%CID?
I posted this in this thead Here
read my above post, it can happen to anyone when upgrading to any wm5, mine happened the very first time i upgraded (TuMa 1.3), i dont know how it happens, but it seems to be permanent even with further reflashes (haven't tried 2k3)

HI.
Sorry for my post, but I did not "get" how to fix the "NO Service" error:
This is what I've done today with Helmi_BA_WM2k5_AKU3.5_v1.4.CF2 by baniaczek:
Hi all.
Today finally spent some time, trying to upgrade my Qtek 9090.
Everything went fine:
1st) Did a SD backup of my current settings;
2nd) Updated ROM with SetOperator to my Operator (got from getdevice.txt);
2nd) Updated without problems;
Then used the Qtek by 5 minutes (inclusively i did a phone call), after that could no longer get the "phone" working - exactly when I received a call, the phone "gone out" and never more. After several soft resets and hard resets the phone was always with "no service" message (but strangely, I could go to settings phone, and look for "the broadcasting" networks).
I swaped the SIM to another phone and it was working, never the less I got another working sim, but the problem continues (btw, I always have the PinCode disabled, and I remember now that I forgot to test enabling PinCode request!!!).
Then, just in case I downgraded the phone to W2003SE, again, and everything was working fine.
My radio was 1.12. So upgraded radio to 1.15, and started over again but with no sucess.
When I downgraded once again, the Qtek works fine with either RADIO versions or sims.
Has anyone got this "nice feature"?????
Is there any overcame solution? (My only missing test is to enable Pincode, and test if it works?)
tks for any help
I'm having the same issue here as well, tried the comm manger on and off and disable and enable it. Still makes no difference, someone please help me out, I can't get anyone to help me
Please help!
I have a Cingular SX66 that all of a sudden the major phone functions just quit.
Wheb I dial out it appears to be dialing out, shows a connection and connect time, singal strength is good but I can not hear the person on the other end nor can they hear me talking. On incoming calls, the phone rings yet again the same problem a mute connection. (mute is off). Everything else functions properly
If anyone could please help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Phone is in its original configuration

try reflashing with a different ROM to see if it fixes it
I will try that, since the BA upgrade list does not show one specificto the Cingular SX66 is there one you would suggest?
Thanks Alan
this happened to me too just today.... i thought i got something broken inside so i disassembled my BA using the guide on wiki.. reheated all the ic's (insane) and then reassemble it... but nothin happens... nada..
one thing i noticed is when i reboot, sometime i see my version nmber on my radio... but sometimes i see is none..
R : none
G : none
B : 5.04.09 wwe
please help
Sometimes that happen with the BA and wm5 (r: none...). The solution is to soft reset it.
About the "can't hear" thing, did you install any new program and then the problem begun?
been investigating this.... it turned out to be a hardware fault.. my charger kind pulled out the thingie inside and i just cleaned it and do things with it..
i dont know jack about all the things inside (as you can see bout my post) but its working now have to test it again and again though...
Thanks Matthew,
I did try reflashing. 1st time with the official siemens rom upgrade and the 1.15 radio rom and it worked for a few calls then then quit so I reflashed with the 1.12 radio rom and it did the same thing - worked for a few calls and quit. It's like it goes into a mute function-cant hear ,cant talk. Yet every other function of the phone works and it shows good signal strength. The phone only has 92 incoming & 50 outgoing hours on it
Thanks for all the help from everyone , this is driving me crazy!!
I'll keep working on it
Last night i was playing with my gps ( Navigon - Google Maps - Google Nav) I switch the phone off at the comm Manager and left it off like that the whole night.
This morning when i switched it on, the phone refused to receive any signal.
Ive tried the following
Soft Reset
Hard Reset
Different Sims
Switching flight mode on and off aswell as the phone tabs
Ive changed the band from auto to gsm and back and still nothing
Gps, Wifi and everything else still works perfectly.
Before i return it and wait like 50 days for them to fix it, what can i try?

More information please. Rom, Radio, SPL?
Also have you tried calling your provider to ask if theres any problems at their end?
Mark.
I have no idea what rom..
lemme check..i have not changed a thing since i took delivery of the phone about 9 11 month ago.
my sim works perfectly in another phone.
rom 1.56.405.5
rom date 08.28.07
radio version 1.27.12.32
Does your sim work perfectly in another phone *in the same location* though? It was suggested you contact your network provider to see if they have any known issues or there are any reasons why your phone shouldn't be working. It may help if you have the IMEI number ready if you are in the UK, in case there is some reason why it has been blacklisted. If your TyTN II wont work with another sim in it (ideally from another network provider) and your usual network provider is unaware of any reason why this should be happening, then as a stock standard TyTN II, I think you'll have a good chance of having it looked at for free under warranty by HTC. Here in the UK I had my ROM reflashed from their WM 6.1 abomination back to the original WM 6.0 version by HTCs repair centre within one day so unless you choose a turtleback express postage option to send it in, there's no way it should take 50 days.
It started working all on its own again? how weird is that?
it had been normal ?
my tytnII had became the same after flight mode had turned on.
when fight mode off, it displayed "no service".

after I reflash this tytn`s rom, it remain no service.
I think it had wrong with its gsm hardware.
Sorry for my english.
I found this problem too.( no service)
My solution is
1. I format rom by use MTTY tool.
(1. How to check and repair bad block
a). Please make sure that you are SuperCID and you understand the importance of hard spl as this maybe a dangerious operation for you.
b). Download Mtty.exe file in the attachment below and save it to your computer.
c). Open connection setting of your activesync or WMDC on your PC and disable "Allow USB connection".
d). Put your divice into Bootloader mode and connect to your PC via USB
e). Run Mtty.exe from your PC
f). Selec "USB" in port box and then click OK
g). Press Enter once or twice to let the screen dispay "USB>" or "CMD>"
h). Type "info 8" to check if your device has bad blocks. And if there are any,
i). Type "task 2a" to fix the bad blocks.
2. Flash Rom again.
3. Now Signal come.
And you turned your Kaiser into a BRICK...
... If your SPL supports "task 2a".
Hey...so this is my story. i tried to figuere out if somebody got the same probs but couldnt find it anywhere so i am just asking all of you thanks...
SO here we go...
My Provider is E-plus and i live in Stuttgart (germany)
I got my HTC kaiser about 6 month ago and it always worked well and i didnt have any problems. I had reception everywhere (also in my room). The regular Windows mobil was installed i didnt change anything.neither the rom version nor the radio rom. so everything was how i got it in the beginning.
Then i have flashed the new version of Windows mobile 6.1 (downloaded from the HTC homepage, sorry i dont now the specific name and which radio version it was) but from that moment on my mobile phone didnt reciept in my room anymore. There was always the "!".
Then i have tried:
- to look for reciept manually (it found different providers but couldnt connect with those
- i ve tested my sim card with other phones and it worked
- i have tested different Roms and radio roms such as:
original rom
L26_KaiserDiamond_V9 (englisch)
Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700 (englisch)
German clean WM6.5â—„ by ChrBeck (CHome)
- different radios such as:
KAISER Radios These Radios were ripped from Kaiser WM6.1 ROMs.
1.65.14.06
1.65.20.29
1.65.16.25
1.65.17.56
1.70.19.09 -
1.71.09.01 -
lots of 1.58.XXXXX and 1.64.XXXX
and even more
--> they all work while i am not in my room. but non of them worked in my room...and it did before.
then i decided to use the original version again which i did
i ve installed Rom:
CE OS 5.2.1620(Build18125.0.4.2)
1.56.407.3
Radiorom: 1.27.12.32
What happened now is that it shows that it got full reception but the phone still doesnt work in my room. but i can use the UMTS date transmission --> i can use the Internet
as soon as i am outside and soft reset the mobile phone it works perfectly.
i am not shure if i have listed everything that is important but if somebody could help me with that i would be pretty cool because a mobile which is just working half of the time isnt very usefull...
any ideas? thanks
Seems like your phone sees the signal seded by the Mobile Operator to you but it isn't able to send a signal back to tell the operator that it is there. Seems like something causes your internal Antenna of the phone to be not as powerfull as at the beginning. Maybe you installed a Radio that has lowered the power and no Radio will rise it again cause the radio things you are in a power restricted area.
In my Charmer I was able to get the power of the radio unit 10% up but the trick doesn't seem to work for the Kaiser. Maybe an user with more Kaiser knowlege can help you better.
Anything new in your room (or nearby) that might be causing interference?
thats what i thought first too...because i ve installed wireless power point...but i have deinstalled them in my room again and it didnt work neither
