Hello, I installed the latest WM5 build from
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM5_Home
Including the available patches.
I did not update the radio, so its still at 1.12.0 I believe is the correct version, but so far everything seems to work ok, except there is no Album for viewing the photos and videos from the camera application, and one really annoying problem with sound, if I run Windows Media player, and then play a file video or audio, then close WMP, the audio is no longer function in any aplication, without a soft reset.
Any ideas on this, I tried the unidirectional patch from Imate which worked previously on WM2003SE when I encountered no sound on the phone (unrelated to WMP as far as I know)
Thanks
Chewychewytoo
you havent installed the album patch,
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/BA_WM5/Patches/Album with midi.rar
then install cab as normal, put device in stanby for a min, then turn back on and reboot.
you should have your album working ok./
I installed the album patch, but the audio issue remains
I found and installed the album patch that worked, but what about the audio stopping working after closing media player, requiring a soft reset...
Audio stopping working after closing media player
Looks like this may be a problem with spbpocketplus 3.0, I was using it to close apps with the added x button it adds to applications. I added an expection to the pocket plus config so it would not close wmp and then I played with it and was able to stop the audio playback, then "close" wmp which only minimized it due to the exception, and sounds still worked elsewhere, then I was able to use the task manager in pocket plus to close wmp and it closed it completely then I was still able to play sounds.
So I now I have a working Imate PDA2k with WM2005 with all the known patches and several apps working successfully.
Thanks to all the work done by the folks posting on this site!
Very cool, now we will wait and see what Imate comes out with. I would like to see an xda-tools util to back up the rom to SD card like the old HTC devices supported, but I am sure its only a matter of time.
Just use a different media player, such as TCPMP...
I have a SX66 with cingular. For the most part it works fine. No major problems except it only has Media Player 9
I've read a lot of the threads regarding WM5 and it loooks great but all the talk of porblems and turning cells into paperweights has me afraid to make the jump.
two questions,, is WM5 near completion of development???
Is there a way to get Windows Media Player 10 on the SX66?
If there is a way to get WM10 on a Windows Mobile 2003 device, then there must be a trick since officially there is no upgrade option available to WM10 through WindowsMedia.com.
I can't see why you want to upgrade?! I have WM10 and i don't use it, i find i can't assign actions to buttons, no matter what device i've used. It's a pain to use compared to WM9. I use TCPMP, much better and free too!
It supports more sound types and movie types.
media player 9 will not stream the live media. All the places i go, say it requires media player 10
You could try TCPMP, although i haven't tried it i'm think it plays some types of streaming media. It's just a matter of assigning file types to TCPMP, done within the program.
Rather than upgrade to WM5, go to the SX66 Standardization Project and download the latest ROMs for your device; they're customized for the SX66 (both Cingular/AT&T variants) and include support for WMP10.
As a bonus, you'll get improved WiFi & BT performance.
3waygeek. thanks.. sent you a few questions in a PM's... still reading all the info on the site...
i downloaded all three of the updates and it is working like a charm... THANKS!!!!!!
Again, thanks 3waygeek
check out my siggie NOW
Tampicojim,
Gald to hear it's working for you...

BTW - I just added System 1.42.00 and a beta EXT ROM (1.42.126) to the site. So yeah... I'm back.... 8)
Chris
What does the latest system add?? I dont think i have the heart to try beta on my phone
The 1.42.00 system is the latest build of the Windows mobile 2003 environment. When MS does the build, they include the latest in the OS patches they have. No, as to what is in it exactly, your guess is as good as mine. I've noticed no differences over 1.40.00.
-Chris
That's cool. I got my main concern going and have noticed a great improvement in my bluetooth as well.
Life is grand again!!!
Hey Bros,
I already Up my Kaiser to WM 6.1 ( Ver 3.08 of Vodafone UK ), The biggest trouble is TCPMP can't run on WM 6.1. Any one know which media player can run on WM 6.1. Please tell me and others, Thanks !
Hmz, I have Windows Mobile 6.1 and I can use TCMP

Yes, I See. Your device's OS not Official ROM. Its cooked ROM from Dutty!
DivX Player from www.divx.com (requires registration but is free, pretty fast and quality is ok, the interface is VERY basic though and it only plays MPEG4-based stuff).
CorePlayer from www.coreplayer.com (costs money but works like a charm, with DCS 1.1 ROM and CorePlayer 1.1.3 I can play all XviD movies except HR-stuff without dropped frames or sync problems).
PocketTV from www.pockettv.com (requires registration but "classic" version is free, "enterprise version is 15 bucks but supports more advanced options and acceleration. only works with MPEG/MPEG2 but is really fast and quite a high quality.)
Personally I just use CorePlayer 1.1.3 for now and I will surely upgrade to 1.2 once it arrives.
is it possible to still use the flashvideobundle with coreplayer?

Try to install mine version. Just came back from the GYM and I played music for 3 hours with TCMP.
I'm using Alex's UltraClean WM6.1 Beta2 and I have no problem installing and using TCMP 0.72. Played about 3-4 hours of music on it now, and tested a few videos.
Nope, even that one doesn't work on the official build of 6.1 I have.
"Unexpected program failure. Please send "crash.txt" to the developers. Program will now exit."
Apparantly it works on some of the WM6.1 ROMs and not on others. It doesnt on DCS v1.3, that I can confirm. Irritating to lack proper .flv support (which is really the most important for me personally). CorePlayer, DivX Player and whatnot is totaly irrelevant, because its the youtube streaming abilities that I find most fun. Streaming via StreamingMedia just sucks compared to TCPMP, also it only work over GPRS/EDGE/3G.
CorePlayer 1.1.3 is the best choice for insteading of TCPMP on my device with WM 6.1.
Thanks all!
For Use with youtube
I've found that TCPMP does not work on my particular 6.1 ROM. Try using http://tinytube.net instead of youtube. Unfortunately the interface and selection aren't as robust as youtube, but it pulls streams from multiple sources (google, yahoo, myspace, etc) and has a decent search engine. All streams end up going through the Streaming Media app.

The rom U use , the Dutty 6.1 beta is based on a older build that can use older radio and TCMP works.
The later builds cant use TCMP and must have any of the the newer radio.

i need to get some application like TCPMP, in TCPMP i can turn off screen and still rewind song in pocket do you know something what have that function and run on official HTC wm6.1 rom??
TCPMP is a great player. I have it working in a WM6.1 19701 Build. Sometimes it takes a little finesse to get it working. I've added the correct cabs to this reply.
Make sure you do the following:
Put both files in the same place (either on the storage card or in main memory). I put them both on the storage card.
After you install each cab file, do a soft reset. (Make sure you remove any previous version before adding either cab).
Make sure you are going to the correct URL - www.youtube.com/?nomobile=1
It should work for you. It's the best player out there.
Oh, I almost forgot. I did have to install NET CF3.5 on one of my devices before it worked. I'm not sure if it was coincidence or necessary.
Also make sure that "flash video" is selected in Options/Settings/Select Page/File Associations in TCPMP.
or you can use this recompiled version of tcpmp
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380387
@ XtreMe_G: Thanks. That one works fine on the official HTC 6.1
smartphone tcpmp i downloaded from here crashes on wm6.1 on q9c
Anyone try it yet? Downloading now...
Installed last night over v1.1.3 without issue. I just have coreplayer installed, no TCPMP or flash bundles. I went to m.youtube and picked a video, Core opened and streamed it nicely. It looks pretty much the same as before but the change log certainly shows a ton of fixes and tweaks.
I installed it too, and still cannot play files from m.youtube. I have TCPMP and flash installed.
Also still cannot get audio from ac3 files, do you have the same?
gnollo,
Go into Core Player menu>tools>preferences>select page>File Associations and set RTSP protocol (check the box).
Bingo-m.youtube.com
Does ist only support m.youtube? Or is there a chance to get it working with full youtube like TCMP with Videoflashbundle?
They promise full youtube support later this month
Ac3 will only be supported later

Guys,
Don't get your hope high for Youtube, it will never happen the way TCMP does with flash bundle...
Personally, I am very disappointed with Core Player's progress, I brought the very first version of CP on the day it was released back in Oct 06 and an year and half later, it's hardly any different (my opinion) Betaboy will tell us of millions of fixes, improvements etc but I am not convinced at all. I am still using TCMP Player.
Here is confirmation from Betaboy...
"As far as YouTube... we do not play ANY flash video... nor will we ever with the restrictions Adobe has on the Flash Container (even though we do support it internally for testing purposes only)"

Not sure,
All I did was what I wrote in my instructions and it's working for me.
Sorry that I can't provide more detail.

I checked RTP and RTSP then exited Core and did a power off reset and it worked fine after that.

tried that but no change.
CP shows filename and duration after loading, but the video never appears. I tried moving along the timeline, no change.
seems better than previous versions
It might be a soon judgment / coincidence though, but the 1.2 which replaces my 1.1.3 plays smootlhly (in QTV mode)
Is it the extra twealing they did, or the DCS V1.7 ROM...(the fastest I tested so far) it will stay a mistery.
Gonna try VBenchmark tomorrow to see if we get a +1800 score .
No youtube playback through Coreplayer...

Been having the same problem as you. I even flashed a new ROM to my Kaiser, but to no avail.
@ Alemaker:
Could you check please to see what you may have installed that is bringing you success? Flash application? TCPMP without FlashBundle or whay?
Any ideas Betaboy?
QTV does not work for LG KS20
The QTV mode does not work with coreplayer 1.2 on my LG KS20, all I get is a black screen. Do I have to do something to have this program working as advertised for the MSM 7200 chipset ?
I searched this forum and found another KS20 user stating that the 1.1.3 was already not working and some users having differents PPC having the same black screen problem. I found a post on the 1.2 release thread on the coreplayer forum where another KS20 user was having the same blank screen problem. Did anyone found how to get rid of it ? I bought coreplayer yesterday for QTV support, and since it does not work, it is useless for me since TCPMP is working as well as this product without QTV support.
If someone could help me, it would be much appreciated.
Edit : the rtsp protocol does not work either, and I have the same problem as the user on the coreplayer forum : I can no more view rtsp streams with WMP when I uncheck this protocol support in coreplayer. Any help about this too ?
Could someone tell me whether CorePlayer can play audio files using a simple folder-type structure - i.e. just a plain list of files in their folder order, NOT using ID3 album/artist/genre/inside-leg-measurement/etc tags.
What I have at the moment (playing via PocketMusic 4) is just one AUDIO folder on my storage card, and within that there's a PODCAST folder, a RADIO folder and a SONGS folder. These three folders are updated automatically every time I sync my device to my PC so that any newly fetched podcasts, individual song downloads, etc are copied into the three folders silently.
When I launch PocketMusic, it scans the whole AUDIO folder and creates a list of all my MP3 files, showing the podcast files at the top, then radio stuff and finally songs (with each folder's contents neatly sorted alphabetically). Playback returns to the last played item and position by default, which is great for those two-hour podcasts that I can't listen to in one session. Once I've listened to a podcast, I just delete the file via PocketMusic from the device, and the sync program will later delete the PC copy too. All really simple and neat and totally automatic.
I guess the one big downside is that is won't play video podcasts. I've looked at lots of other programs, but nothing else seems to offer this very logical load-list-on-startup and sort by folders facility. Will CorePlayer do this sort of thing?
Andre
Hey! Where the heck to you set 1.2 so that if you put your device to sleep (lock the keys and turn off the backlight) the music continues to play?

whocares2... let me first offer you a refund as "it does not work, it is useless for me". Second we will look into the WMP fill assoc bug.
Also... Did you follow the other threads here about QTv and what we did to get it to work? But point taken in that we we not 'officially' state QTv support but we will mark it as 'unofficial'.

What you need is: 0.72RC1 recomp 03
recomp 3 not working either
Thanks for the tip. I've downloaded and installed it. It's starting without crash but it does not work. I hear some audio but display becomes froozen afterwards.
Interesting side effect: Even though the display is froozen through a PC connection using My Mobiler I can see what should be displayed and even control the the dialogs. Only the lower portion of the screen (I guess pix 640 to 800) is blocked.
Well TCPMP is not that good a player, but it can get the job done.
If you like to play high resolution video(About the same res as the screen, 800*480), then theres Coreplayer, or if you rather not pay for a player then you can convert the video and play them using HTCAlbum player(The default one for recorded video).
Have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3830181&postcount=11
Yes, I would recommend the CorePlayer. Although not the best, it is by far the best player for videos.
If you aren't aware yet, it is actually a commercial version of the same TCPMP with slightly better stuffs like GUI and sorts..
Have you tried it to work?
Regards,
Carty..
Finally I bought CorePlayer license - and it works perfect on TD2.
Not really a cheap solution but I have to admit its a really cool SW.
Thanks anyway
