WM5 Outlook appointment problem? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I use three different e-mail accounts to update my outlook calendar. Under 2003 se this was no problem - all e-mailed appointments would give you accept to calendar options. However, with WM5 it only lets you update your calendar from your outlook account, not alot of good seeing as you can't remotely GPRS into this acount. However you download any other mail account WM5 will not let you update the calendar with the appointments you download.
Doesa anybody know a fix or a work around either to GPRS your outlook account or to enable appointments into your outlook from a different e-mail account - regfix, program, tweek, idea, anything??

Email question for all you gurus

When i get my kaiser, i will be setting it up to sync with outlook at home (via a gmail server). This will sync all my mail with outlook, but I am wondering, is there any way to actively send and recieve mail, that would be reflected in outlook at home, on my Kaiser (without using gmail's website).
I believe this is a no, where i can compose messages, and they would be sent next time i sync at home, and where i will only recieve messages when i sync at home, but I am hopeful that there has been some change with this, as the last time i used this type of stuff it was with a windows mobile pda, with only wifi (i.e. not a smart phone).
Thanks for any and all input.

I think (and others here may have much more elegant solutions) that the easiest way to do what your asking (or at least what I think your asking) is to simply set Activesync on your phone to sync manually (and sync it only when you are at home). If you can elaborate on what it is exactly you are trying to do a better answer will be forthcoming.
this is what i have set up now:
My home comp, set up with outlook 2007, vista, etc.
My HTC Kaiser 3G via AT&T.
They sync when i am at home, so any messages i have composed on the Kaiser get sent, and any emails i have recieved since my last sync get updated on my phone.
If i set up an email account on the phone, it will use push email, and then i will be able to activly send and recieve messages trough 3g while on the go.
Is there a way (other then Exchange Server) to be able to activly use my Outlook Email account on the go, and have those changes reflected in the Outlook on my computer, without setting up a seperate account for email only on the phone?
Hosted Exchange?
These questions are specific to the Kasier but more to how ActiveSync works.
The only way that I know of to sync contacts, calendar and email with Outlook is to use Exchange. You can certainly sync POP email accounts and Hotmail accounts, even Gmail accounts one your phone and the contact info with Hotmail but not calendar entries.
To me the most comprehensive solution would be to get a hosted exchange account and then sync with it. You can install Outlook on your computer and connect via RPC over HTTPS (if using Exchange 2003) or Outlook Anywhere (if using Exchange 2007) Hosted Exchange services are not very expensive and they work well. Simple google search will give you all the details.
There is even another Microsoft Exchange thread on this Kaiser forum that mentions 2 different "free" hosted exchange servers

AT&T Tilt Xpress Mail Calendar

I am using Xpress Mail [which I believe is Seven v.6] to push my work email and calendar items to my Tilt. It works fine except for 2 annyoing integration issues. 1. Xpress Mail uses a separate calendar than the Outlook calendar instead of integrating the two so that on my Today screen on the phone I need to enable both the Outlook calendar and the Xpress Mail calendar. This takes up 2 lines and often is repetative. 2. The Outlook calendar will list upcoming appoiintments several days in advance so it can remind you of upcoming appts. The Xpress Mail calendar only will show the appointment on the day of the appointment. It would be nice if it gave at least an extra day notice so that when I check the today screen the night before I know I have a meeting in the morning.
Does anybody here know of a way to tweak to reg so that the Xpress Mail calendar entries are integrated into the Outlook calendar?
Or, if not, then is there a way to have Xpress Mail show appointments prior to the actual day just like the Outlook calendar?
Also, there is a Seven v.7 beta of Xpress Mail that is supposed to be better. Does anybody know if this has been fixed in v.7 beta?
Thanks.
I gave ip on the xpress mail....unstable as ***

I just found out about emoze after your post. I noticed that they support Gmail - which I use (Google Hosted) for my domains. Are there any real advantages to using emoze to push emails from Gmail vs. POP?
How does emoze handle calendar entries from non Outlook sources such as Lotus Notes? You may not know if you just sync with Outlook. Do all calendar entries get integrated into the Outlook calendar on the device or is there a separate calendar like in XpressMail?

I used Seven's beta of Version 7 on my 8525 and now on my Tilt. It uses the built in databases for Calendar and Contacts. It is beta, but I have found that it works great and is stable. In version 6, I hated not being able to sync contacts and I had turned off the calendar sync because I didn't want to have two different databases plus their calendar app was crap (as you pointed out). Version 7 fixed that by using the internal database. Additionally, if you have Outlook Web Access, you won't need to keep a PC on conneted to your work network. (We don't, so I couldn't use that new feature). You will need to sign up and apply for the beta if you want to use it. Here is the link: http://community.seven.com/forum/main.php. No, I am not affiliated with Seven, just like their product. Also, I tried emoxe, but could never get it to work reliably.

I replied a nice long thorough reply to your post on HoFo. Basically it says Seven's beta rocks. I've used Emoze and Xpress Mail. Both suck in comparison to Seven. See my post there:
http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1256897
Similarly, even though I now sing Seven Beta's praises, I am not affiliated with them in any way. And I can prove that via my posts on the Seven msg support board which I also provide linkage to.

Birthdays to Calendar

Hi dear developers,
Do you know if its possible to make pOutlook contacts that have birthdays filled to have it assingned as an all day event in Calendar ???
Unfortunally i have to Sync my Calendar/Tasks with work PC outlook and Contacts with my Home PC outlook so i guess i could not use the sync trick to do this.
I have a terrible memory for birthdays (once i have forget mine ) and i could not use that great birthday today plugin with TF3D...
Is it possible to do it programmatically?
Thanks for the help.
CreativeBR
Well I sync my Diamond with Outlook and I don`t have any problem with that ... all birthday`s are displayed as all day events on Diamond
All my birthdays are displayed as all day events as well...! Only annoying thing is, every time Outlook adds an alarm reminder to the newly added birthdays. When I forget to delete them, I will be remindered 15 minutes before midnight... I already cleared the Default Reminder option.
Has everybody a solutuoin for this problem? I have the same problem as CreativeBR. When i sync my outlook calendar with active sync, i have no birthdays.
you must sync the contacts
hi biersoeldner,
in order to get the all day events synced to your phone (via activesync) you have to sync your contacts and not only the calendar. the birthdays are coming out of the contact entries and are only displayed in your outlook.
I have synced (in activesync) the contacts and the calendar. Now i have checked the details of the contacts and there are no birthdays.
Some birthdays I have written direct in the calendra an they also not in my xda. I use Outlook 2007 an HTC ROM-Version: 1.93.407.1 GER.
Currently I have checkt birthday, which were in the near future and lock they are there. I belive I shoud check the differenz between this persons!
thx for the answer!
I put birthdays into the calendar as standard all-days events, repeating on the same day every year (and set an alarm of 5 days out to remember to buy that card/present!). You don't touch the contact entries then. Will happily sync between PC outlook and mobile outlook then.
I had found a workaround for my problem, if i delete the series of appointments and i create it again, than is the appointment on the pda calendra. Could someone explain me this?
None of this could help me because i need to sync Calendar/Tasks with the work outlook and it has so many business contacts (that i dont want in my personal mobile).
Thats why i cant send my personal contact birthdays to outlook and receive the all day events via calendar.
That free birthday today plugin fits nicely to what i need but i cant have it running with TF3D.
Maybe SecondToday app could help me... But run it just for one today plugin 8(
since someone mentioned birthday problems in calendar...
does anyone of you have the problem when synchronizing the device...
birthdays are synced, they r showed in the device, but they will disappear in outlook... but if you do a search it's there, it just won't show up in the calendar view...
i currently need to re-enter my contacts b-day to make it visible again in outlook...
anyone having the same problem too???
The only way I've ever been able to reliably add birthdays is add a new recurring event, starting on the year of birth. Then each subsequent event has a number in brackets indicating the age that year.
Contacts, plug-ins, any other way just didn't seem to work for me.
well...
My pc sync very well with pda all contacts and birthdays... but, the problem is that birthday, doesn't show in tf3d! What can I do? there is any tweak for this problem?

HTC Diamond: Outlook Calendar Sync.

I have 3 calenders in my Outlook 2007.
When I synchronize my mobile with activeSync I doesn't get the calenders on my mobile but only the standard calender in Outlook.
How can I sync. my multiple calenders to my Diamond?
No help?
me too finding the same difficulty, need to sync public folder calender with work?
any idea?
I've used Chapura software to do this
www.chapura.com
I'm on an Exchange Server and I know that only your default calendar will sync onto your mobile. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that it's the same for non-Exchange sync relationships as well.
I'm going to check out Chapura.
Myke...
You can do multiple outlook calendars, contact subfolders as well as exchange public calendars and contact folders. I've been doing it for a few years. A bit pricey, but worth it for some people. One time fee to have all of my company public contacts and calendars sync real time while I'm on the road.

Mail download problem with Manila 2.5 roms

Hi to all,
I am open a new thread about my problem with download emails in different Manila 2.5 roms then when I have written it inside the ROM discussion it was lost in the discussion and I never receive any answer.
In the past month I have tried different roms with Manila 2.5 and have every time the same problem. When I for example at the morning unlock the phone, I dont have in the manila mail program NO new emails, but in the next 2-3 minutes all emails incoming over the night are downloaded. This happens also when I dont use the phone for longer time and the security rule locks the phone automatically.
I am connected to the company exchange server with push mail, using POP3 and Imap mail accounts and have permanent data connection.
I like the 2.5 manila version for the better favorites contacts taps, mail preview and better calendar with week view.
My question to you all is if somebody have the same problems, existing a solution or a ROM without this problems?
Thanks !!!
Which E-Mail Protokoll do you use???
Imap, Pop3 or Exchance would be nice to know to track down your Problem!
Mail protocols
I use all of them.
POP3 for mu email account on the ISPprovider
IMAP for my gmail accounts
MS EXCHANGE for connection to the company exchange server to have synchronised all my work emails, contacts , task and appointments. Our company exchange server on the setup also setup a automatic security lock of the phone when he is not in use for some time.
On my obervation I found that when teh phone is locket the automatic mail download for all types of email protocols stops and all messages waiting on the servers are downloaded when the phone is again unlocked.
This is only on Manila 2.5 on 2.1 all mail accounts checked following the settings and messages downloaded correctly.
Best regards from prague
Kersten
ok, don't think that Manila2.5 is direktly the cause of your Problem! I think one of the LEO external Packages is causing this strange behavior...
The Problem is to track down which! I will try but it could be a while
